The service and overall ambiance of the restaurant were very good, the service was fast, and our server was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. The energy and noise level were perfect to be able to have a conversation. I had the pineapple margarita, this was fantastic, very balanced, fruity and refreshing, highly recommend. The short rib queso and salsa trio were delicious as well. I tried a few tacos. All were yummy, especially the carnitas, although they all could have been seasoned more, but we're still very good. Specifically found a place close to Little Caesars Arena before a concert and truly loved our time here:)! Made a reservation the week of and we were immediately seated upon entering the restaurant/talking with the host. She was so fun and spunky and we already felt so welcome. I was impressed by the open garage doors, mood lighting, and bar aesthetic as we walked in.. it was such a beautiful day to be inside our outside on their patio. Browsing the menu and looking around us we saw a pitcher being served and decided to try that out. For $45 it can hold up to about 4-5 drinks per person and that was more than enough for the two of us. We ordered an original flavored margarita and it was pretty strong and delicious! We enjoyed chips and salsa for an appetizer and the chips were fresh and salted well! Which I'm a huge fan of. The tacos were street style and absolutely delicious! We both loved each one we ordered. They bring all of your tacos out on a platter and display it on a stand at your table which is so aesthetically pleasing and awesome in my opinion hehe. I enjoyed the Baja Shrimp, the Fish taco, and the Huitlacoche. The Huitlacoche had corn and roasted poblanos on it topped with cotija cheese! Soooo delicious! I could eat so many of these haha. This place was bustling when we went for a quick bite to eat after the DIY Fest. There was a Lions game, so it was filled to the brim with sports fans. But they were able to seat us within ten minutes, with no reservation. All of the staff were super nice, despite it being incredibly busy. We tried a couple drinks at the bar while we were waiting, the Pomegranate Paloma and the Pineapple Margarita, which were both great. We really enjoyed the salsas, guacamole, and queso, and the Taquitos we had before our tacos came. I guess there was some kind of mixup in the kitchen, I assume some other table got our tacos by mistake, so we waited a little bit before our sever realized what happened. All we got were a side of black beans, haha, which were very tasty by the way. We were totally fine, crunching chips, and enjoying the COMPLETELY APPROPRIATE music overhead. I talk about this a lot, but the music makes or breaks the ambience of a restaurant. Here they were playing Roadhouse style music, blues, outlaw country etc etc, and it was great! No EDM, no Taylor Swift. It is a glorious thing. But I digress... Anyway, the manager came over even though we didn't ask, we were fine, but that shows a very high level of customer service. And then he took the tacos off the bill, which again, we didn't ask for, and I felt was a bit unnecessary, but was a very hospitable gesture. The salsas were nothing special, the queso tasted powdery, and the guac was bland. The short rib taco was so bad I had to spit it out. The chicken taco was also terrible, with the chicken having a very weird taste and seemed like it was boiled. The Papas Rajas taco was just a veggie taco that was tolerable considering everything. I went here yesterday for the first time and I loved the place. For several reasons. This restaurant has a really nice fun vibe. The design and decor looks great. It's a good size restaurant. Music is playing. People are laughing. But we can't judge a book by its cover so let's get to what really matters, the food and service. I told our server I would love to try the sangria if she promised it was homemade and not from a bottle. And sure enough it was freshly made, delicious, not too sweet, and beautifully presented. My friend and I ordered the chips and salsa duo along with homemade guacamole. We were told the guacamole is made fresh all throughout the day and you could definitely tell. No you might think judging the chips is over judging. But I judge a chip based on its freshness and if they are greasy. These chips were great. The red and green sauces had good flavor. We managed to munch through the entire bowl of chips. There are plenty of options to choose from on the menu. We went for the tacos. You can order them all a cart so you can sample different kinds. Two tacos plus chips and dip would make for a nice light lunch. I ordered a third taco because I was hungry. Chicken. Beef. Shrimp. All three were very tasty and I would happily order each of them again. There were plenty of other options on the menu I would like to go back and try and I most definitely will. My only criticism of the entire restaurant is that 90% of the tables are picnic style tables with bench seating. My back hurts without a back rest after about 20 minutes. I'm not deducting any stars for this fact only mentioning for those who may have back problems or for those who may have mobility challenges like my mom who would never be able to get herself seated on a bench seat and a picnic table. As for service, all our server was fantastic. She was present but not overly so, explain the entire menu to us, talked about the fresh made daily foods, and walked us through the drink menu. However, we were sat at a table and half way into eating our appetizers, the hostess came over and told us she sat us at the wrong table and asked us to move to another table across the restaurant. We chose the patio even though indoor dining was available. Their patio set-up was pretty nice. It was covered but had good airflow and spacing between patrons. Our server was quirky and fun but most importantly, really good at their job. We ordered a couple Tecates with lime and shots of tequila, and even though the place was popping on a Sunday afternoon, it came up real quick. Eventually we wanted a little salty snack, so we ordered some chips and salsa. I really liked the roja salsa; I found the verde salsa to be much too sweet. The chips were thin, crispy and fresh. Our server overheard us making birthday plans and asked if it was my birthday. A few minutes later, I had a shot of tequila with a lime, complements of our awesome server. Way to make someone feel special. Overall, great place with a fun Mexican-style menu, great service and affordable prices. I'm torn as to how to rate this place as I did have a good time and enjoyed their food, but left feeling a bit sad after my experience here. So, after a few hours at the Detroit Historical Museum, the date and I were starving after all the walking we did. We wanted something close as we were famished and tired. I scoped the area for who A) had sit down service and B) didn't have a long wait. Bakersfield was the first place I called, and I was so excited! We drove the mile and a half to the place and parked on a side street. Walking in, there's a lobby area where the hostess greets you and does her thing. Due to dine in capacity, we were offered a 20 minute wait to sit inside or immediate seating on the patio with heaters. (if there weren't heaters we would have passed.) We obviously chose the patio! the menu wasn't as big or as broad as I had hoped. I thought maybe it was a trimmed down version of it due to the pandemic, but I guess that's it. They have a good selection of food, but it was mostly a chicken and pork type situation. Extremely limited on the beef items, and I didn't see any meat free items either. as someone who does NOT eat pork, I felt even MORE limited in what I could get while dining here. I was kind of disapointed and spent extra time scouring the menu to figure out what I wanted. Kind of bummed and docked a star for that. Side note to the menu issue. Mexican is easy to have variety with and shouldn't be so limited. There should be more then just what they offer and most of their items are ala cart here. Want beans and rice? EXTRA. NO. I'd rather have less booze and more food because I came here to EAT and drinking with my FOOD. HINT HINT. FOOD is tasty! Can we get some shredded beef tacos? Pork is cheap and you can expand your menu with like a solid 2 or three more items, specifically some beef tacos. Anyway, I digress and I apologize for my rant, sort of. Anyway, we started our dinner with the queso dip because we were dying of hunger. Let me tell you, the dip was amazing! We both loved it and we aren't dip loving people.. (we are dips, but that's something else.) So, to have both of us like it is amazing. We also ordered the same dish which was chicken Taquitos. When it came out, it was absolutely fabulous! We both loved our chicken dish and it was perfect in every way. They kind of impressed us with the food and we both loved the red sauce that was on it. The dish itself only came with 3 Taquitos, and we both think it could have come with 4. we both were still kind of hungry when we were done. It was tasty and filling, but we were still wanting one more after all that. Our server was fabulous and did a good job of checking in on us during our meal. Whether it was extra napkins, drinks or just seeing how we were doing, she did a good job overall. Would we return? Yes because we liked it here and there are other things on the menu to choose from that I do want to try. I'm just extra harsh about some places, especially because Bakersfield is somewhat of a chain and has multiple locations in different states. Is the menu bad? NO. I just want a few more items on it. We found this place after a Yankees-Tigers baseball game. A little over half-mile from stadium on Woodward - very nice walk. Place was crowded - great sign. Had to wait about 25 minutes for outside seat (told it was longer to wait for opening inside). Waiter William was AWESOME. as was the unnamed hostess who seated us and helped with a very disagreeable umbrella to shade us from the sun (above and beyond). Tacos were incredible. We got pineapple al pastor, the short rib, and two pollo verde. All wonderful - kinda wish they were bigger!! The queso was phenomenal.
