Four stars, for friendly attentive service, has been a while since we had been in Rockport didn't realize they had change the Diner and was now the Bakery Café, so being late for breakfast and most of all other restaurant were at full capacity!? (full parking lots) so lets try the Bakery Café, yes it has changed? Its your good basic breakfast, nothing in the wow factor? its fill me up so I can go fishing or to the beach and not be hungry till way way past noon!! Like I said good breakfast, I had the skillet with mushrooms/ham/tomatoes it was good!! and a side of pancakes, yes just pancakes, not the gone but not forgotten chocolate chip pancakes which were always a favorite to order?? why would you not halve left those on the menu?? why?? its like we all have our favorite things to eat when in a certain area, but things change? so will set out and look for new favorites?? read more

Moved to town on Saturday, ate breakfast on Monday, Lunch on Wednesday and Lunch again the next Monday. This is good home cooking! This will probably be my families favorite place in AP! Breakfast buskuits are delicious. Ate the steak and eggs, awesome! Husband had the coconut pie and said it was the best he has had since his grandmother passed away 23 years ago, yesterday we had the special, pot roast, pacific blend veggies, mashed potatoes and cream of potato soup, amazing! We have been under a boil water alert for awhile now. Went to breakfast this morning it was so great. That had tea. Plenty of ice. You would of never known we were on a boil water alert. This quaint restaurant will have you looking for Mel telling Flo to "stow it". You can sit all day and watch the locals come and go telling one fish story after another. We come in town every year for the Port Aransas basket ball tournament and don't miss a day on showing up here. The food is EXCELLENT and the coffee is hot and plentiful. The staff is courteous and quick with their service. If you ever get within a 100 miles of this place it is worth the trip read more

Love! I usually order the specials, just the way that it comes and it is always good. It is a small café type setting, very relaxed and casual. We have had a variety of things on the menu and they are all very good. Kids have no trouble finding something that they like as well. The can get busy and the service will be a little slower, but overall it is a great place. read more

My favorite breakfast spot in Aransas Pass. Fast friendly professional wait staff and great food. I love a small town diner for breakfast and this place does it right. We are here for breakfast four days in a row! Best homemade breakfast I've had outside of home. As a vegetarian it was super easy to eat here! Definitely try their taquitos, French toast, and hot cakes. The service is great and it's got that small town diner aesthetic. Pretty sure the place has been around for longer than I've been alive. The waitresses will have you eating and out in an hour! No rush just speedy service and endless refills on your coffee. This place gets a 5/5 in my book. On the way home from going to a Funeral Saturday, we decided spur of the moment to stop for lunch at the Bakery Café, a truck was pulling out right in front of us, otherwise probably wouldn't have stopped! We haven't been there for a couple years as unfortunately the previous 3-4x was just not the same with the Food, the Service, etc., like it used to be when we moved here almost 6yrs ago! We had the most personable, bubbly, engaging Server~Kaylee!! She certainly set the tone for our meal!! That can make a difference!! Service could not have been better as no doubt she enjoys her job working there and with the public! Hubby had the Enchilada Plate and I had the Turkey Club!! (Didn't have my phone to take pics!) We both commented how good lunch was! Unfortunately, there are a few restaurants that we just can't go back to, but will certainly give The Bakery Café another visit now! This place is a little Strange... This is one of those old places that does a very strange thing - they take real food and they cook it when you order it. Now I know most of you are used to walking up to a counter and having some kid in a uniform take your order who puts it into a computer and sends it back to a person with a pair of tongs that takes the chemically compounded food out of a little warmer drawer and wraps it in paper and sends it out to you in about a minute and a half. Therefore - most of you will be disappointed with Bakery Cafe, because they actually have to seat you, and make the rounds from all the locals wanting their coffee instantly refilled, and bitching about their dirty forks, and then take your order and WRITE it down in an old ticket book, and then deliver that to the kitchen, who has to cook it in the order it comes into the kitchen, which takes a few minutes and then put it on an actual PLATE, and then bring it out to you hot and fresh, which I think most Americans have a hard time comprehending or digesting. And then the owner has to keep the building from falling down around your ears (evidently), and keep the credit card machine working, and listening to people whine about being ignored, because the old girls can never move fast enough, all the while trying to keep a smile on her face without slapping the snot out of all the spoiled tourists that somehow end up in here. I know, I know, just damned strange. All this just to put a $4 plate of food in front of you. Tell you what - just to be safe, most of you should probably avoid this place, and I'll take all the risk of eating here, so you don't have to. Old establishment on the original city square. Building is worn but the waitstaff cheerful. Breakfast served until 11 each day but lunch and dinner specials are listed on a white board and on the large menu. We ordered a cheeseburger plate and a grilled chicken salad. We always eat here before heading home after vacationing in Port Aransas. Friendly, lively staff. We order a big breakfast: pancakes, eggs, sausage, hash browns , coffee. Basically everything. They bring out plates and plates of food. Everything is delicious! Super filling. The best part for us is the feeling that you are stepping back in time for a while. They figure the breakfast tab on a calculator. Diner stools are up at the counter. Really harkens back to simpler times. I always leave with a full belly and a smile on my face. read more

We got there at 11:05 and found out they stop serving breakfast at 11 but they were able to coax the kitchen into serving us breakfast, that just made my day! Been eating here since I was a child and my mom has since she was a child! I had the CFS which you will never find me eating anywhere else, but I have to here. It is perfect, with real mashed potatoes, corn and coleslaw. I had to get the salad, which is just iceberg lettuce, 2 cherry tomatoes, a slice of onion and a sprinkle of cheese. Smothered in thousand island dressing like I did as a kid made it good, in a memorable kinda way. Bill had a fried fish plate of tilapia, which was actually good: white and fresh. We were served red jello with whipped cream on top-somethings never change. But I have, so I passed on dessert. Was completely happy leaving Bakery Cafe. Not healthy, but happy. Good stop on the way to Port A or the way home. The crowd is so local, everyone seems to know each other. If I'd stayed home, I might know everyone, too. read more

On my last trip to Port A, I stopped into the Bakery Café for dinner (had only eaten there for breakfast before). I had the special that night which was chicken fired chicken. Best, most tender, chicken fried chicken I have had in a LONG time. Gravy was awesome, rolls, were awesome. WOW. read more

Wonderful staff. Apron with crossed bones belonged to a nice server. On top of it, though almost lost out on our meal to the booth next to us, nearly lost it. Still great service. My eggs were good, but my daughter's breakfast skillet platter was amble and an explosion of flavors. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. read more

Horrible service.. went in on Sunday 5th of July for breakfast at 11:11 am. They had the breakfast menus still on the tables.. Heard that is served good breakfast... the waitress rudely took the menus from our table and said breakfast was over....that they were backed up..sounds like a management, issue.. won't ever go back...we left. 5 Star Diner. Key word: Diner. Great place for breakfast, lunch, and sometimes dinner. If you are in the AARP, you will feel comfortable here and appreciate the super good soft mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. Just great cafeteria food served in a cafe style environment. Pretty good as far as the taste goes and the portion size was generous. Also served with the special was potato soup that was very good. The service was kind of so so. Once again one year later. Bacon crisp, pancakes fluffy, biscuits and sausage gravy was the bomb. We will continue to come here every year on our way home until things change. My family went there for breakfast on aug. 4 and the food was ok. I've had better, but the service was the worst. The waitress seemed annoyed to take our order. I had to get up to refill my coffee and I saw other customers getting their own silverware and coffee. the tables were dirty because the busboy moved like a slug. My brother in law asked for a biscuit and he was told they were out, but another waitress came out with biscuits for another table and they came way after us and he asked for that item before them. I was very disappointed since we had a nice time in Port A and this cafe made our last day a terrible one. I will never go back nor do I recommend this place to anyone. read more

Went here on Saturday the 13th, from the reviews it looked decent so we took the ferry across from the island to give it shot. disappointed, food was cold, service was slow but friendly. Go to IHOP or Dennys. If you are on the island I'd recommend island cafe. read more
