Chicken salad sandwich and potato salad
    Samantha B.

I have mixed feelings on Surfside. Right off the bat, the parking lot (which is shared) as well as the inside and patio area are quite tiny. Not unusual for many of the businesses nearby, but fighting for a spot in the end may not be worth it. It seems the place is mostly attuned to locals. Light on any kind of greetings, you place your order inside and they'll bring it to you wherever you are sitting. The food came out in an appropriate time and after that, don't expect to see anyone again as it is largely self service with condiments, napkins, etc. available on a nearby cart where you also will leave your baskets at the end of the meal. The food itself was only ok. We ordered the happy hour mozzarella and marinara dippers (dear readers, this is simply a single grilled cheese cut into four triangles. Delicious! And only $4, but the wording on that could maybe have been better...) the chicken salad sandwich with potato salad, and the shrimp tacos. The chicken salad errs on the sweet side, which the brioche bun only adds to, and was in much need of a hot sauce which I did add but still wasn't the largest fan. The potato salad was really good, but the indication on the menu that it was spicy was misplaced - it is yellow, sure, but not spicy. As for the shrimp tacos, again not fantastic but the shrimp was cooked quite perfectly. The combination of ups and downs put this smack in the middle for me. We had planned to stay for a few drinks, but decided to hop to a few other local businesses to see if we could find a better vibe. Overall, I would say this is a good spot to feed kids quickly and on the cheap(ish) and maybe hang and chat with friends.

Found this little local shop for lunch on Yelp and definitely wanted to give it a try while we were visiting Corpus Christi. It definitely did not disappoint. Pulling up into the parking lot, we got extremely lucky and saw a few people walking out; otherwise this little parking lot is completely full. The shop itself is also pretty small, basically a hallway down the entire unit, with a bar on the left and a row of small tables on the right. There is some outdoor seating available as well. We ordered lunch to-go, which was pretty quick and easy, as our order was already prepared when I arrived and I was able to use Apple Pay. I noticed their packaging was very nice. We ordered the Philly Cheese w/ pasta salad, the Teriyaki Salmon w/ mac 'n cheese, and also Ahi Tuna sandwich w/ the soup of the day, being broccoli and cheese. My Philly Cheese was tasty, but on the salty side. My bride absolutely loved her Ahi Tuna and the kiddos enjoyed their Teriyaki Salmon. Overall, the food was excellent (but it is pretty pricey). We definitely recommend this spot in you are in the area.

Stopped in for a quick lunch while visiting from Houston and enjoyed a great meal. Service was polite and efficient. Food was fresh, tasty and servings were plentiful. The kids enjoyed the outdoor entertainment area.

Staff could've been a bit more friendly to us, which were newcomers. No greetings, no telling us where to order, etc. Not very tourist and newcomer friendly to me. Once we found out where and how to get our food, my goodness, my pork BBQ sandwich is probably the best I've ever had. The pork itself was very tender and excellent when it came to thickness, which was the perfect amount; not too thick, not too thin. However the real star of the show was the bread. It was wanting to stick to the paper because it just couldn't wait for me to devour it. The softness and texture was next level. I have no idea what the hell kind of bread it is, but I need to know just about now. I would definitely come back if I lived here.

We stayed at an Airbnb in the Nemo Cay resort complex of townhomes and this place was right behind us and a super convenient walk (once you find the gate in the fence by the pool). We picked up breakfast from here and then grabbed lunch later as we headed to the beach! All of the breakfast sandwiches we tried were great! the Cuban - so meaty and filling! The smashed avocado - so refreshing with a balsamic glaze that makes even a non-veggie person happy to eat this! Bacon and egg - exactly what you would expect. All $8.50 and very worth it! For lunch, I was content with my teriyaki chicken sandwich - with moist grilled chicken and not too much sauce. Husband loved his Philly cheesesteak one! And the dipping sauce makes it even better.

We get a moment to ourselves and my wife gets this tuna mayo disappointment, I get Philly cheese which resembles dried Mexican beef jerky. This is our 3rd or 4th time, and each time gets worse. How is this place still open.

Great on all accounts - atmosphere, service, and food. We had a great visit to Surfside Sandwich Shop. In between bites, we even got in a good game of UNO. Exceptional experience.

My only complaint is that I didn't try this place sooner! Both mine and my husband's sandwiches were absolutely delicious. The staff were super friendly and helpful with recommendations for what to pick. If you're looking for a laid back island vibe, this place is a must visit!

    Philly cheese steak

Food was bomb my family had the Philly cheesesteak, meat grinder, chicken quesadillas and sesame tuna taco, would eat recommended all these items, service was inviting and accommodating,Alex was our bartender/waiter he was great greeted us when we sat down with warm vibes .The ambiance of the inside is kinda like a bar with good music and a couple of sports games if your into that. The outside dining area was kid friendly with books, toys board games.Aswell as clean tables with wipes just in case of a spill. All in all this was a great experience good food, service and ambiance if I get the chance definitely stopping by again

Surfside Sandwich Shoppe (SSS) in North Padre was a perfect late lunch spot for our group of road-trippers as we waited for our condo unit at Lively Beach just down the road to be ready for check-in. If you like to come into Port A via Corpus to avoid the wait for the ferry, this would be a great place to stop before you turn onto 361. The SSS interior is charming with cute beachy décor and cold A/C, but we would have been just as comfortable on the breezy, shaded patio out front. There were books & board games and other entertainments available while we waited for food, and each table came with disinfectant wipes so we could give everything a quick cleanup - Mama likes! The menu has something for everyone, with some coastal TexMex tacos and quesadillas, a long list of sandwiches, several salads, a daily rotating soup selection, 5 kinds of desserts, and a full bar of adult beverage choices in addition to the usual bottomless soft drinks and tea. Oh, and there's even a cute kids menu with all items priced $5-$7 with a side of chips or grapes. Happy Hour is daily from 4p-7p with $4 selected adult drinks and appetizers. That price point is from the 1990s where I live, so I will definitely be coming back for that next time I'm in the area. My O.G. blackened shrimp tacos were SO good and the portion was large. Our teens enjoyed their quesadillas (one got pulled pork, the other got the chicken), and the lone sandwich eater had nothing but praise for his Surfside Turkey Club. I had a few bites of that one, too, and it had everything I love about a deli-style sandwich: super fresh ingredients, yeasty, toasted homemade-tasting bread, and balanced helpings of all components. What else? The staff behind the counter were super friendly and our food came out pretty quickly considering it was all made to order. Checkout was simple via smartphone wallet with Toast tab; love that!

Great hidden spot. The food was fresh and tasty! It's a small place, but I got lucky that is wasn't very busy yet. But I could see it filling up fast. I've had my eye on this place for several years, to try. Finally did it today. And I'm glad I did!! Hidden gem that I hope stays around. It's very chill with about 15 seats inside. And then they have an outdoor patio you can eat at. It will hold about 25 more people out there. And the have games you can play while out there. I will be back again for sure!

Padre Island Burger Company gets a solid 3/5 from yours truly, and honestly mate, I'm being…read moregenerous because the atmosphere and seaside setting did a fair bit of heavy lifting. let me explain myself properly. This place screams modern tourist burger joint. The sort of establishment where every burger arrives with twelve unnecessary toppings, a quirky name, and a price tag that makes you briefly consider checking your credit score before ordering. Quite frankly the place should be renamed "Upcharge Central" or perhaps "Tourist Burgers Built for Photos, Not Stomachs" The outdoor seating itself is lovely though. Proper island atmosphere. Wooden picnic tables, sea breeze rolling through, cold drinks sweating in the Texas heat, tourists waddling about sunburnt and optimistic. It's the kind of setting where you want the burger to absolutely save your afternoon. Unfortunately... Mine did the complete opposite. I ordered their "world famous" Lulu Burger, their take on a jalapeño popper burger, and I genuinely believe it may have been one of the worst burgers I've had in the last couple years. Now look, I'm not against creativity. I enjoy innovation. But somewhere along the line society decided burgers needed to become science experiments. The moment that completely sent me over the edge? A massive slab of cold cream cheese slapped directly onto the burger. Not melted. Not slightly warm. Not blended into the burger. No mate. Refrigerator cold. The sort of cold where you could practically still see the HEB dairy aisle condensation on it. Completely threw off the texture and turned every bite into a confusing mess of hot beef meeting Arctic dairy product. Absolutely criminal behaviour. Now to be fair, my lovely date ordered the Hangover Burger which was noticeably better. Fried egg, bacon, cheesy goodness, all the things you'd expect after a rough Friday evening involving tequila and poor decisions. Still overpriced for what it was, but at least it tasted like somebody in the kitchen had a coherent vision. The sweet potato fries were actually quite decent as well. Crisp edges, soft middle, solid seasoning. No complaints there. Maybe I'm old school. Maybe I'm too particular. But when I think burger joint, my mental checklist is simple: Hot burger. Balanced toppings. Quality beef. Reasonable price. No culinary jump scares. And unfortunately this place missed the mark on several fronts. 3/5. Lovely atmosphere, decent service, and a fun island vibe, but the burgers themselves simply didn't justify the hype or the price tag.

My littles shared a build your own with cheddar, my oldest had chicken tenders and I had the Mr. Beckham with onion rings and we all split an order of chips and queso. Queso was tasty, slight kick but nothing major. Onion rings were crunchy and hot. The only downfall, no ketchup packets. It's a grab your own and I just forgot as I was trying to get back and pack up. Either way, can't wait for my next visit so I can try a new burger.

The server was not very attentive- for example, I asked for the added Brussels, bacon and onions as an add on to the tenderloin tips but I never got them. We also waited a while for drinks and we had our order taken about 30ish minutes after we got there, despite the lack of customers. She was very nice but the service was disappointing. The meat quality however, was really great and both dishes pictured were perfectly cooked, totally recommend the little Jane. But the tenderloin tips left much to be desired literally, because it was not much food at all. For 20 dollars, I would like to feel fullish, but it felt more like an appetizer or tapas than a full meal. The other people in my party got a special (the beef stroganoff) and chicken Alfredo, which both were good, not spectacular. The part that was enjoyable about the pasta dishes however, was the fact that they have different pasta specials, so you could get the Alfredo with linguini or the specialty pasta of the day or week (I don't know which). The pineapple mojito was noteworthy as well, fresh and you couldn't taste the alcohol at all. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing but it wasn't a very positive experience, especially for the high bill. Will I ever go again for dinner ? Probably not Will I go for drinks? Absolutely! Order food with drinks? Only out of necessity since most appetizers were 15+ Was it a nice place? Yes! But was it worth it? No
