My birthday was JULY 7th, I came out to this location in Harlem to order a cake for my birthday. so that the order wouldn't be rushed, or last minute, I came out to this bakery 2 months before my birthday. This cake order was placed in the month of May, and I explained and illustrated what I wanted and what I wanted the cake to look like. having faith that they understood my order and what I wanted, if there was a problem, then I should have been told and made aware while I were in the bakery. through the month of June, I made several calls to the bakery to check on my order, ... NO ONE Answered THE PHONE !!!! and when I finally got through they put you on hold for several minutes to a hour. I drove out to the location June 7th to pay for my order ahead of time, and to my surprise they did not have my receipt/order on file. had I not snapped a picture of the receipt previously when I was at the location last, they wouldn't have known what I was Talking about. the cashier had to re- take my order, and fill out another Yellow receipt. Again, I explained what I wanted and what I wanted the cake to look like, ..this cake was supposed to be #3 tiers, which is what I requested. another woman behind the counter that day charged me an extra $50 but this wasn't added on the receipt that was given to me. After paying $250 in full , for my cake, the next week I called to make sure that it was the correct size that I wanted. Again , ,, NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE To ADDRESS YOUR CONCERNS OR QUESTIONS! concerned I drove out to the location again on JULY #3rd to check on my order. A woman behind the counter assured me that it was going to be the size that I requested, and the colors that I wanted. I left the bakery that day feeling confident my order would be correct. HOWEVER !!!!!! On the day of my Birthday, JULY 7TH, me and a friend came out to pick -up my Order, and to My Disappointment they bought out a cake that was not the correct size I ordered. IT WASN'T EVEN THE COLOR I ORDERED !!!! The cake was supposed to be royal blue with gold DRIPPING. This cake was black , with a crown at the top. This was Not what I ordered !!!!! when I asked why my order was WRONG all I got was excuses. they told me the #3 tier cake I wanted cost $500 which wasn't explained to ,me when I came to originally place my order. they offered to fix the color , but by that time ... it was to late , we had to go set up for the party. So I ordered a custom cake & cupcakes with images on them I asked for it to be 100% completely edible with edible images and I was told it would be since it was for a 1 year old and children party I wanted edible images so no one would choke and they said yes it would be done like I asked. Today 12/21 is my birthday and I ordered a small the tres leche birthday cake the day prior on 12/20. I was asked to pick up the cake at 1pm the following day. Upon arrival the line was out the door and we patiently waited 40 minutes on the line. Upon getting to the front of the line, we waited an additional 15 minutes for a cake that was not ready. After the cake was brought out it was incorrectly made. We asked cashier for a refund and were told "we would have to return the following day to speak with Herman the Manager". The cashier reported they would correct the mistake in a few minutes. After clearly identifying what the cake topping should look like, by using one of their cakes as an example. It appeared things would be different and the cake was taken into the back to be corrected. The cake returned no longer chocolate mousse, but vanilla and missing the handwritten happy birthday. Infuriated, I was met with condescension and unprofessionalism. There's a clear language barrier and comprehension issue with the staff. The staff were moving around customers in the cramped space, not saying excuse me as they accessed their refrigerators which are located in the cramped storefront. I was hit with a refrigerator door several times as they assisted other patrons. Not one person said excuse me or acknowledged the proximity of closeness to customers. After waiting an additional 15 minutes, the 3rd cake was brought from the back to the front counter and finally resembled the original order. After packaging the cake for me to take home, the cashier asked for my only receipt. I asked for my original receipt to be returned to me. The cashier refused to provide the receipt stating I should take a photo with my phone. I firmly stood on receiving my receipt which was reluctantly provided. Unsure if they did "something" to the cake as I am rightfully skeptical and due to the poor customer service, I will not be eating the cake. To the cashiers, thanks for making sure you spoke Spanish and excluded me and other non Spanish speaking customers from your conversations. This does not have to be the standard of customer service. I would like to highlight I was serviced by Andrea the day before on 12/19 for a cake for a work party on 12/20 and the customer service was A1! To the manager Herman, you must do better with your staff. Additionally, you ruined my birthday cake and provided the worse customer service I have received in NYC for many years, which is Not Easy. Don't shop here unless you can speak the language or deal with incompetence. The service is terrible which sucks because the bakery does have good products. Ordered my birthday cake on Tues 7/29 for pickup on 7/31. I ordered a yellow cake with chocolate mousse & vanilla custard at first that came to $45, then I asked the lady could I have one layer vanilla and the other chocolate and she said yes for another $5 so I said ok and paid her, cake is now $50. No problem, my husband picked up the cake and it was beautiful, however, when my grandchildren came over and I cut my cake there was no chocolate cake only vanilla which I paid for. The day of my wedding I pick up my cake and I'm met with a cake that had plastic flowers on top like what you see on your grandmothers dining room table. Capri Bakery was my destination today come hell or high water. I saw people waiting outside and then asked the man if he was waiting to go inside. He said they only allow four at a time as the space is small. After speaking to him I saw the sign on the door. I waited patiently taking photos of the beautiful cakes in the windows. When it was my turn to go inside I was overwhelmed by the choices. I decided on the small piece of cornbread. When I got to the counter I said I wanted a small piece of cornbread. I was charged $2.50 and I left. When I felt the bag it was really heavy and grease started coming through. I decided to go to the park and eat it right away. The piece was huge and very juicy and sweet. Naturally I ate the whole thing. I was glad I can cross Capri off my to go list. If I return I will try the strawberry cheesecake. The cupcakes look good too. Needless to say I won't be eating lunch today! If you visit Capri be prepared to wait in line. Also make it clear what you want. It's the neighborhood bakery. I have been coming to this bakery since I was a kid. My mom would get a toasted hero mashed with butter and coffee. They have long lines during certain periods of the day; morning and evening PC (precorona). Since Corona Capri has been amazing. They stay open between 7 and 8 pm. The lines are sometimes long now due to social distancing but they are moving.There cakes are still being made and the service is still good. If you get any thing from this place let it be the tres leche cake. It is soooooooo freaking delicious and usually all I come for. The chocolate cake and strawberry cake slices are great! They make whole cakes there as well. They also have big portions of sweet breads and a great option if you have a bunch of little ones that like sweet bread or you, solo. The variety is great, the prices are reasonable, and everything is delicious. Go try it? you wont regret it read more

Terrible customer service and no accountability for obvious mistakes! They charged me $200 for a cake design that I provided but they didn't deliver. In addition they misspelled my daughters name, Brooklyn. How do you misspell that name HERE in NYC. I went back to the bakery on 07/01 and left my name and phone number for the Manager to call me back to resolve and compensate me. I received a call on Thursday 7/03 and the person from the bakery named Andrea told me she was told to call me about my issue. She said the owner was only willing to give me a $100 store credit or cash in the amount of $50. The cake was $450.00. HOW INSULTING! However, my in house experience just was not as amazing. So on Aug 3 I went to the location 116th with my sister. A girl named Anais took my order. As we was completing the order my sister gave Anais the whole $220 which covered the cost of the cake. My sister wanted to smoke so she left the store. Anais took the money and had it alllllll around the counter and the table. Oppose to her "intelligent" self placing the money into the register after receiving it she continued to leave it out in the open. Me and her completed everything and I took a step back to leave and accidentally stepped on a man. So I turn around and apologize because I'm thinking I bumped into a customer by mistake but nope. I bumped into one of the neighborhoods usual crackheads. She tells me I forgot my receipt so I turn back around to grab it and while doing so the man ask me for $20. So I looked at him and asked him straight up" did you lose your MFing mind get the f out my face." Like the audacity. And while the whole time this is occurring Anais STILLLLL did not put the money in the register but left it on the top counter where the cakes are. So the man reached around me and grabbed the money and ran out of the store. I ran out behind him to see where did he go. My parents love the guava cheese bread that they make at this bakery and have been coming here for years.
