A friend and I stopped by the Mary Brickell Village location for a brunch one weekday morning. We sat outside near the street under one of the umbrellas. Our server Iliyana and very nice. The bartenders were fantastic with Rafael being super personable and welcoming. The music was a good volume level, and I was happy there was a bit of shade since it was quite a sunny day. The food itself was typical and nothing too special or over the top for the price point. The fresh juices were good but still a little steep pricewise. My friend ordered the eggs benedict, and they looked a bit underwhelming. My breakfast bowl was as described, and the avocado toast was average as well. The inside of the dining room was wonderfully decked out and gorgeous. They went hard for Christmas, and I wish we would've sat in here the entire time. I am actually going back this week just to sit at the bar and admire the decor once more.

They've got a Winter Wonderland theme going right now and it's like a little corner of Arendelle. Monday brunch is super-relaxed, which is great overall but you can't be in a rush. Menu is a nice mix of classic, healthy, fresh, and modern. Worth adding this to your rotation.

Alejandro was amazing, 10/10 service. The happy hour is great as well, lots of food and drink options. They also have a doggy menu which is adorable! It's a very cute vibe too, would definitely recommend for happy hour. I will say the tuna crispy rice needs more seasoning, but the bang bang bao buns were delicious

The service and the ambiance are excellent! It's super cute inside and they also have plenty of outdoor seating. Our server, Christine, was very on top of it and had a warm vibe to her. They had a good happy hour that started midway through our time there but I otherwise found the prices to be a little out of hand for what you get. While my watermelon spritz was delicious, that + a non-alcoholic cocktail set us back close to $40 with mandatory service charge. Portion was very small on my friend's side of fries, and when I requested light ice on my spritz, it came filled part way despite not really having light ice. I'll come back and try happy hour because the prices seemed much more worth it and the ambiance and service were good. Maybe that will change my rating. Wouldn't return outside of happy hour though.

I had a great meal at this place during their all day brunch until 4p. The server, Joselyn, was really cool too. She recommended this bomb salad that I had there (Burrata and squash salad). I'd highly recommend going. We sat outside during a nice day too.

We were in the Brickell area visiting my wife's son and want to Balan's a couple of times, once for drinks and again for brunch. We were seated inside both times. When we went for drinks, they were doing hookahs outside and we did not want to deal with the smoke. Service was excellent--we were seated quickly and the bartender was great and very friendly. I had an old fashioned that was perfect, then my wife had this maritini with a shot of brut that she really loved and was very original. They have a great brunch menu--there were 10 items I could have had. Again service was excellent. I started with a chai latte where they did a nice leaf design. My wife loved her Americano. I had the eggs benedict with bacon. First, I love the fact that Balan's offered bacon as an option for eggs benedict--Canadian bacon or crab cake can be good, but nothing like regular bacon (which was very good bacon). The poached eggs and Hollandaise Sauce were great, then the potatoes had some nice spice to them. My wife had Avocado toast with poached eggs on top--she really loved her dish as well. Absolutely worth a visit.

Balan's is a fantastic spot for brunch. I came in for Miami Spice, and every course was perfect. I started with the granola pot. It was a delicious crunchy sweet starter. For my entree I chose the steak and eggs. The steak was tender and the side of fries were a salty, crispy delight. I concluded my meal with the homemade peanut butter ice cream. It was so good! The service was fantastic. Our mimosa glasses were always filled and everyone was kind and welcoming.

Balan's is a great spot for a low-key happy hour. The indoor decor is stylish but comfy, with a cool, laid-back vibe. Happy hour is a steal--$5 beers, cocktails from $8-$12, plus a few solid apps to snack on. It's a really good deal for the quality you get. The staff is friendly (esp the bartender, Ricardo). Definitely a place I'd come back to for another relaxed hangout

Came here for happy hour and definitely recommend. The bruschetta was so delicious and unique - I could've eaten 10 more plates of just that! The drinks are delicious as well and the happy hour deals are worth it. It's on the main road in Brickell, so a lot of fun to sit outside and listen to the music and people watch. There's couches and comfortable seating so a great place to spend some time hanging out with family or friends.

This restaurant is in Brickell, Miami. It is in a very busy and sophisticated area. They have a highly trained staff that provides personalized attention and makes you feel at home. Their food is mouthwatering and upscale, and very nice drinks. You go for upscale food, you get upscale prices. The ambiance was relaxed with such a nice breeze all around us (we were seating outside). They also have hookah service.

Came here for brunch, I got the full breakfast and it was different from what i expected in the best way possible!!! The mushroom and tomato were so juicy each bite was better than the last. Unfortunate experience. Ordered the two course lunch with French onion soup and shrimp tropical bowl. The shrimp, mango salsa and onion soup were ridiculously salty. The wild rice was not edible- Very strange flavor(maybe the rice was not washed properly?!) My friend said his pesto rigatoni was terrible too. Overcooked pasta and watery pesto. $45 for one person's lunch + Bellini. 2 stars because server was nice enough. read more

We had a family event here and we had a great time. Victor was AMAZING. He really helped us get things together especially without really knowing about the event beforehand. He assisted with our little surprise and was so kind to work with. Victor continued to check on us throughout our meal, and definitely made our experience better. The servers and staff were all very nice and ready to accommodate us. There was some miscommunication between the person we booked with and the staff that day, but we overcame it with Victor's help. The restaurant is in Brickell, a block away from the metro rail and around the block from Publix. It's really cute. It reminds me of a classy diner; really nice photo opportunities. It's spacious but does not have a lot of seating. Most of the seating is outdoors. For our large party we sat outside. Our meal was supposed to be served family style but that wasn't the case. From our limited menu (the event brunch menu) I would suggest the crab cakes (big hit), avocado toast, eggs Benedict, egg royale, and ahi tuna. Mimosas and bellinis?? *chef kiss* Everything else was simply okay. I would not suggest the steaks. They weren't flavorful and overcooked. I will say the carpaccio wasn't what we expected, but it wasn't a complete miss. I would try this restaurant again without such a huge party. read more

It's strange that I don't have much to say about this place. It's decent, but nothing over the top. The ambiance is okay, the service was alright, and the food is also just okay. It didn't really blow me away. If you're looking for a quick bite not really an experience, then I guess I could recommend it. Really enjoyed my espresso martini though! read more

This our go to place when we visit Miami. Location is super and great for people watching. We love seeing managers Jane and Benjamin. Today we went for Happy Hour which is great. Delicious wines especially the rose and Sauvignon Blanc. We were served by Mina who is a new there. She is a great addition to their team. She was wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She was really attentive, super friendly and took her time to chat with us. My husband had the avocado toast with poached eggs which he really enjoyed. I had the crab cake which was very good. My friends and I decided to try Brunch here and it was cozy! We dined outside and it was such a pretty day, I ordered the French toast, my friend the burger and we each had a cocktail. The drinks were alright but the food was delish!!! I would definitely recommend as the brunch menu is pretty diverse. Heads up, they also have a perk if you check in! Really wanted to like this place. The food portions were tiny with average taste. Mandatory tip was already included in the check, but the waitress Anastasia pushed hard for an additional tip and seemed upset when she didn't get it. She threw my credit card and check down, and walked away without even saying thank you. read more

We came here for brunch on a Monday and sat at the bar. The bartender was so attentive and sweet and took such great care of us. We decided to split two brunch items because we just couldn't decide (the French toast is to die for) and neither of them disappointed. Such a cozy spot (also has outdoor seating for those not wanting to dine inside!) and beautifully decorated. Their cocktail list looked delicious (though I opted for just plain coffee because it was that kind of morning), but my sister got a tequila drink of some sort and absolutely loved it. Overall great place and would definitely visit again next time I'm in town to try more of the delicious looking menu items! read more

Balan's was delicious! The staff were really great and friendly. The hostess was helpful to explain what's vegetarian and vegan friendly. They even made a chicken burger for my husband that wasn't on the menu (even though the website had it). The happy hour was great and they had delicious offerings at reasonable prices. We sat outside and it was fun to people watch. Our waiter was accommodating and checked in on us just enough. The pesto rigatoni was delicious and just the right portion size. Stopped for lunch yesterday, party of five. A ghost town when we arrived...hmmmm. The food tasted like a bad frozen dinner. The Milanese "signature dish" was a heated chicken patty with a tablespoon of "special sauce", arugula and cherry tomatoes... all for $26. The full-sized Calamari was a small bowl, stuffed with lettuce and a few onion rings sized Calamari..no tentacles at Balan's. Again, frozen food. The portions were miniscule.... laughable. The burger was the only item that presented OKAY...we should have gone to McDonald's, we would not have been charged $250, which included an 18% gratuity. Thanks, Cesar for your charm and sight-seeing tips. You were the saving grace. Take my advice and start interviewing elsewhere. read more

I hadn't been to brunch at Balan's in awhile but after the wait was too long at All Day, I decided to give it a try. Our waiter, Bruno, was wonderful, very friendly & super attentive. My dad had the "Full Breakfast" (Sausage & bacon, grilled tomato, hash browns, mushroom, eggs of your choice toast & baked beans), authentic proper British breakfast & I had the Crab Cake Benedict. Very good & beautifully presented, The hash browns were particularly light, delicious & not greasy at all! Coffee was good too. The only reason I'm not giving 5 full stars is because the $10 "fresh pressed" watermelon juice cane in a bottle. Definitely not worth the price but everything else was stellar! read more

Do not come here unless you want to be ripped off by the servers, and spend $30 on one drink. Go to some place better like Moxie's which is across the street. Moxie's at least has good service and decently priced food/drinks. I live in the area, and now it makes sense why this place is always dead. read more

I really like the sea bass here, but I wanted to try something new , so I ordered salmon. Don't think I'll ever order it again. Strange combination of everything, the ordinary potatoes just saved the dinner. Don't recommend the salmon, BUT SEA BASS here is AMAZING read more

Visited Balan's twice recently during the pandemic and Balan's has handled the situation gracefully and we felt very self. Balan's has a beautiful patio seating space outdoors. You're given a one-time use alcohol hand wipe to go along with your utensils and all of the servers have masks. I really enjoyed the burger I got and the fried fish sandwich. Will continue to visit for weekend brunch! read more

I haven't been to Balan's in years but recently went for happy hour. The restaurant has been remodeled inside and outside and looks great. The service was great. I ordered sangrias and was pleasantly surprised. Really good taste. I also ordered the falafel bites. They took very good COVID precautions and staff was extremely friendly. My family and I went to Balan's for the first time today. We ate outdoors and the ambiance was nice. Our waitress Gianni was amazing. The food was delicious from the appetizers to the dessert we enjoyed it all. They even made their awesome banana salted caramel sundae should really be back on the menu. They were so sweet and open to make it even though it's not so on the menu. The burger was well seasoned and moist. The calamari was fried perfectly. The shrimp tempura was cooked to perfection. The crab cake was excellent. If there is one thing I would say that kept me from giving it 5 stars was the cost. It is very expensive for a family of four. So suggesting it to my friends and family would come with the fine print in bold cost wise. Otherwise I would have definitely given it 5 stars. read more

Lovely Brickell spot with a delicious menu. Definitely recommend coming here on a day you want to stay outdoors as they have a lot of outdoor seating but a reservation is recommended. Always a great time at Balans. Happy hour is really good, service is fast and the appetizer are delicious. They are not to big so you don't over do it. Love the crab cakes, the salmon croquetas are really good and we closed with the avocado whole wheat tostadas which they were super yummy. Pretty sure you have heard that the bathrooms have this cool thing that when you turn the lock, it fogs the entire view. It is very cool but when I was there last week they only have one working restroom which it can be very annoying especially during happy hour and because it was busy the bathroom was dirty. I have also been there for breakfast and brunch and they are pretty good. You should check it out. UPDATE: last week we went for happy hour and once again it was nice! I had the Baja chicken salad and my friend had the shrimp pasta dish. Both of the were really good! read more

Not coming back to this place, some oysters tasted bad. I liked the other dishes. Waitress needs coaching, getting defensive and acting as if it wasn't true is disrespectful. My son is a waiter so..I always make sure my waiter get some money even when if I am unhappy abt an issue. read more

So i don't even know we're to begin. Let's start from the beginning. My friends and I decided to come down to Miami and enjoy a small quick mini getaway vacation. We looked online to see what places were near the hotel. We came across this one because it looked like a fun spot to to hang out and just have an amazing time . We get there and first thing we are greeted with is no pool shorts. Excuse me sir these are not pool shorts, they are regular old navy shorts. He apologized and proceeded to let us in. As we make our way to the door we are stopped by another man who appears to be the manager or general manager on Duty. He was like we have a dress code of no shorts, well not being from here i was like we didn't. Know but i began to explain your guy at the front advised no pool shorts. He proceed to tell me no Shorts at all. I THEN AT THE MOMENT REALIZED THAT WE WERE BEING Discriminate AGAINST BECAUSE AS WE WERE WALKING UP TWO GUYS WITH SHORT HAD JUST WENT IN THE DOOR. WHEN HE WAS CALLED ON THAT NONSENSE HE THEN LOOKED AT ONE MY FRIENDS WHO HAS ON BLUE JEANS SHORTS AND SAID THE GUYS WHO WENT IN HAD A DIFFERENT KIND OF SHORTS. ALL THIS WAS TOTAL BULLSHIT. I did not order potatoes, but she brought them anyway. Then the waitress didn't even come to check on how everything was. The food I got was so-so, but one of my friends got a huge serving of juevos racheros. Then the waitress brought the check without even offering to split it between my friends and me. We were going to ask her to split it, but she was taking forever to come back so we decided to just write how to split it and took it in to her ourselves. She ended up splitting it 3 ways instead of splitting it how we took the time to write it. We then took it to the owner and explained the situation to her. The waitress came back out with individual receipts and didn't even say sorry or anything. I used to like coming to eat here... Until the experience I had yesterday. I went for brunch like I usually do. The place was packed and the hostess told me the wait would be about 10 mins. After 20 mins of waiting I come back and ask her how much longer? She writes down my name again and says "sorry the other paper flew away." I kept my cool and proceeded to wait another 10 mins. I then notice a table all the way in the back and ask if I can be seated there because it's empty. She says let me check w the manager. What?! Finally we are seated. Our waitress was so distracted and inattentive. We literally had to ask her to take our order. After about 25 mins of waiting for our food (the longest I've ever had to wait here) my friends bagel comes out with....MOLD on it. Yes, MOLDY BAGEL. We were so disgusted none of us wanted to finish our meal for fear of food poisoning. We asked for the check and left. I will never eat here again. Gross. read more

last night i went to eat at balans and as always the food was amazing but its people in miami that give places a bad rep i was sitting at one of the couches and i was having a couple of drinks during the second happy hour they have when a lady sat a group of people on the second couch next to us well to start off i see one of the gentleman pick up something from the couch before sitting down later to find out it was some lady's cell phone because she came back looking for it, anyway the guy tried to tell the lady who lost the phone that the lady who sat them stole it, when i obviously saw him take it well she went inside and came out with a phone to call her phone and the guy who picked up the phone went inside somewhere we tried to get the lady's attention but she wasn't listening to us so all en all this email is for that lady we seen who took the phone it was the Asian guy. read more

First time coming here. Dope spot. Music and ambience is great. Have to point of the hosts sense of fashion haha. The whole staff looks presentable to say the least, everyone is kind and very helpful. Our server steven had asked us to write a review if we enjoyed our time and service. He was very nice and charismatic, great energy. And if I have to be honest he was cute too;) over all our experience was nice, the food was so yummy, the restaurant is so pretty. We were approached by a manager at the end with the check which is new to us, never seen that before, he was very nice, I don't remember his name but I do remember that he's Mexican! We are regular customers back from the Dadeland location days but I have to say that the renovated Brickell location is great. The scenery is very nice and the new menu is totally amazing!!!! The bread pudding dessert was soooooo good.The best I left for last, the staff! The Managers there really know how to make you feel welcome. This vibrant energy that they give off definitely rubs off on the rest of their staff. The servers and hostesses were really nice and professional. What else can I say, it was a truly amazing experience for my family and we can't wait to make it back. Paul and Jane are so warm and welcoming that we don't feel like we are going to dine in a restaurant but a family member's home. I totally recommend Balan's in Brickell for any occasion!!! read more

Had heard about this place from a few friends. I came for dinner. The ambiance is pretty nice, I really Enjoyed the flowers hanging from the ceiling. Perfect for a date if you're trying to impress someone special. Drinks are nice and food is good, you can taste the quality, oh and don't forget the OYSTERS! Not every restaurant you come across has good east coast oysters. Overall great experience from the moment you check in. Stephen was our server, I have to say love the uniforms! Felt like I had my own butler lol received quality service, my server was very patient and attended to small details. Incredibly Loud Music and Rude Manager.... Had hoped to sit outside and enjoy lunch with my family at 4:00PM on a Friday. The club music was blasting so loud that you could feel it in your stomach. After requesting that the music be slightly lowered, the rude young Manager appeared and said that she would not turn down the music because the patrons sitting 100 feet away at the edge of the patio would not be able to hear it. The music was too loud for my daughter so we went elsewhere. My experience last week was the final straw for me. After having been a loyal patron for several years in spite of the fact that this establishment continues to raise prices and is "hit or miss" food-wise, we will not be returning. read more

What a joke of a place....omg Rude... Don't know how too deal with people now I know why the place has two and a half servers.... No skill, what a joke of a manager had NO SKILL WHAT SO EVER ... Amazing both me and my wife came two nights in a row and we are from Houston where there are so many Hookah Lounges but none of them come close to this 1. Attention to customer service awesome everyone so nice regardless the hour 2. The quality of hookah and design of hookahs is unique that impresses the new people to hookah and also the veterans 3. I give you 1 star because I can't choose "0" Really disappointed. My husband thought this was a cool place to eat and relax so he invited me my sister and her husband to come have dinner. "Jean" the manager kicked us out because we asked him to put a fan where we were sitting at it was extremely hot outside, The server Luis was awesome but by the look on his face and the way he talked to us I think he's afraid of the jean because he agreed with us but he couldn't do anything about it smh. Today I had the best breakfast I have had since the last time I had breakfast at Balans. Service was perfect (forgot her name but she was inside for the morning shift), food was everything I needed, and the coffee... Just how I like it After I ate, I sat for a while at another table outside, and no one made me feel like I was overstaying my welcome. The side patio is my favorite place in Brickell. Great people watching, and just a nice spot to have a few drinks and slow down a bit. An experience I have found to be increasingly rare. Anyway... Hands Down, the most terrific food. I have been hear over a dozen times, and this place never lets me down. In fact, I am shocked to see some of the reviews on here. I have always had a pleasant time and not to mention the food here is very tasty. Our waitress,far exceeded our expectations. ( I wish i could remember her name..Pamala or Camala) She was always attentive, but not over bearing like I have experienced in the past at other restaurants. Can not wait for the weekend. My fiance and I went to Balans on Lincoln Rd. last night for Easter Dinner and I have to say that by far this was my BEST dining experience in Miami. I live in Miami Beach and as we all know, customer service doesn't mean much to the people around here. But Balans was fantastic! The food was AMAZING, the service was WONDERFUL. And the prices were shockingly inexpensive. The man working as the host for outside, I don't know if he was the manager or what, but he was really attentive and very nice and polite. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Oh, and try the Sate appetizer! Yum! read more

My wife and I Had dinner here last night. Food was amazing and authentic-- we started off with the tuna tartare as an appetizer and we were very glad we did. Highly recommend getting them. Our waiter (Stephano) suggested the curry with shrimp for a main course, My wife got it, and I got the blackened salmon . Both were amazing dishes. Stephano was very attentive. He answered my wife's wine questions and gave her good recommendations. Everything, including the service was amazing and delightful. I am definitely looking forward to coming back here. read more

I live in the area, I used to come all the time before they closed for renovations. I've been to North Italia and Moxies and even though those are the new spots to check out they still do not compare to Balan's. Customer service, food, drinks, and atmosphere is incomparable. Steven was our server, I had not been here in a while and he definitely made my visit worth every penny and minute. There's so many other places to go around here in Mary Brickell village and surrounding areas, but this place is definitely the best. Shout out to the DJ! read more

Avoid this place! Echoing previous patrons' concerns, it seems this bar has a tendency to levy excessive charges, preying on customers who may not scrutinize their bills closely. On my last visit with four friends, we were astounded to find our bill exceeding $700 for a round of hookah and approximately 15 drinks. Additionally, the waiter pressed for an additional gratuity beyond the already included 18% service charge. I recommend steering clear of this location to avoid falling prey to their dubious business tactics. read more

Balan's has a great happy hour! They offer $5 beers and cocktails in the $8-$12 range, plus a nice selection of appetizers on the happy hour menu. It's a solid deal, especially for the area. The staff was friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. Even though the crowd was on the lighter side during happy hour, it didn't feel empty or dull--the atmosphere was still lively with trendy, aesthetic vibes. Last time I was here was a couple years ago. It has always been a great place to come by. Though it has changed a lot, it still doesn't disappoint. Prices may be a bit higher but it's definitely worth it. Would definitely recommend and will be back. Service was great and management is very helpful. Had to wait a little bit for my food but the manager Was able to make it up to us. I think his name was hector or victor, very nice and funny guy. Shout out to the balans team! Service here is not great from my last experience here. The waiter took very long. Did not take my boyfriends order. So I was eating my entree while my boyfriend ate an appetizer which really ruined it. And when we came in the hostess could not find us a seat for a very long time. When she found us a seat they did not even clean the table and she still bring the menu to sit on top of the filthy table. The food itself is really good but the sit in was not a good experience. read more
