To say it was a disaster would be an understatement. Before we even arrived the staff seemed rude on the phone, and seemingly knew nothing about the voucher. Part of this included my partner having to rearrange to an hour later than our original time (this was 3 hours before we were meant to be there) as she would be late, and we were sharply told 'it doesn't matter just be late!' and then she immediately hung up. The main resturaunt was closed due to a private function, so we were eating next to the bar. This wasn't a problem but due to the function everyone's orders were seemingly delayed. This was at no point communicated to us by the staff. When it came to ordering, the staff again seemingly knew nothing about the voucher and had to check what was valid with the offer. While they were checking we were given a cocktail each. We did not ask for the cocktail nor were we told what it was. My partner, who rarely drinks, found this especially odd as she didn't plan on drinking alcohol. After receiving our starters some half an hour in, perfectly reasonable, they were nice but very small leaving us eager for our mains. After waiting over an hour before our mains (when other tables, who had ordered after us, finally started recieving their mains) we inquired as to where ours were. We were first told that our offer didn't include mains, dispite the fact we had already ordered them, our voucher includes them, and we had been told they would be included. The waiter had even commented on how nice the cheese board was. We were then told by another member of the wait staff that our waiter had in fact forgotten to place the order for our mains, and it would be another 20 minutes before they would be ready. She decided it was actually our fault for not alerting them sooner, even though we had tried and failed to catch our waiters attention for the past 10 minutes. Prior to this we assumed it was the same delay affecting everyone else, so we didn't feel the need to query as any person normally would, especially since one gentlemen from another table had complained and had been told it was simply the kitchen struggling to cope with the event. If the restauraunt wasn't going to be able to cope with the private function, then they should not have closed the kitchen to the rest of the public. They then offered us the leftover meals from the private function upstairs as they apparently had some spare, while these wouldn't be hot they said they'd be at our table much sooner. We found this extremely insulting. How can a restauraunt, whose mains cost around £17 each, pride itself on the quality of its food with this kind of attitude. We decided this was enough and stormed out of the resturaunt. Instead we visited the nearby McDonalds who served us far more food far quicker. Perhaps the Savannah should consider new ownership. I am more than disappointed with the standard of service we received and would advice everyone to steer clear, there are plenty of other nearby restauraunts that will actually serve you.

Even though the restaurant was nearly empty, and they had more than enough staffs standing around, they seem to be more interested in chatting with each other... We kept looking over to them, but no one came over. Eventually, I had to walk over to them and asked them to come and take our order. I expected better service from a restaurant inside the Fortnum & Mason... Once I got one of the server to come over, we placed our order. We had Chestnut Mushroom Omelette & Rocket, and Highland Scramble, and Crushed Avocado, Chilli, and Poached Egg on Toast. They were a-ok, nothing special... Didn't think the quality and flavor matched the price. After we finished, it took us a while to get the bill. It was not easy to get attention from any servers there. None of them came to check on us during our breakfast, and none them came to ask if we are ready for check. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. I thought a nice restaurant inside Fortnum & Mason will have higher standards in both food and service. The service was almost non-existence, and food was just a-ok. It's a pot of tea with an entree and a sweeter option. I chose the roast beef open faced sandwich with watercress and the traditional scones. The tea was the store's famous Royal Blend, which was pure heaven! The only thing that marred it was a jug of cool, watery skim milk that came with it. I asked for actual cream. The server seemed surprised but he brought it tout suite! The beef sandwich was perfectly seasoned with a horseradish jam that made it sublime. The scones were complete perfection. Anthony Bourdain always says to always eat what a city does best. You cannot find anything like this outside of England. It's really spectacular. Service was a bit slow on a bustling Sunday afternoon but everyone had a great spirit, most of all the two hostesses who were completely accommodating to a single diner. This was a great tea without a lot of hubbub.

Once again, only 10 people (not tables-- only about 4 tables) in the place and most are either just chatting and not getting waited on. We ended up electing to leave when the manager finally said "I guess I could take your drink order and you'll get it eventually". No thanks Next day we went back because we told the front desk of the hotel what happened and they gave us vouchers for some drinks. They said it's not normally like that, so we believed them. We sit down right away and someone comes over to take the drink order. So far so good. Ordered 3 glasses of wine and a beer.... And the order came out wrong. Maybe we're being over the top but most of us work as management in huge hotels, and we paid a lot for the stay. Seems ridiculous to have that substandard of service.

The holiday chicken wrap with stuffing was better than I anticipated in terms of flavors and presentation, and came out very hot. I had also also ordered a side of chips, which never disappoints. I have been recovering from a broken leg, that involved surgery, so I was able to use the accessible bathroom (toilet) facility downstairs. It is rather annoying that people who are perfectly capable of ascending/descending a single flight of stairs will queue to use the accessible facility out of convivence. Of course I know not all disabilities are visible; however, when it is a group of girls in short skirts and nice shoes with beers in their hands, it is obvious they are using this facility because it is closer to the bar. Anyway, it was still in a decent condition given the number of early patrons. Wifi worked. Drinks and food were good. I would return if in the area because I do love the Spoons.
