    HOT TURKEY SANDWICH
    Karen W.

Came here to celebrate brother-in-law's 85th birthday, one of his favorite hangouts back in the day and some of the servers remember him and my sister. He wanted to come here to have prime rib but when we got here, he changed his mind 2 times from prime rib, to hot turkey sandwich and ended up just having a coke and waffle! We also ordered a club sandwich for my sister, hot turkey sandwich for hubby and I had the #1 breakfast with one egg, two sausage links and crispy hash browns and two coffees. Service was A-1 and atmosphere was cozy and friendly. The server wished him a Happy Birthday and he was happy.

Haven't been here in years and glad I did. Food was delicious and was large portions. Service was fast . Went on a Thursday afternoon so it was pretty empty. Food came out fast. A few tables are outside. So your dog can go. They offer special meals for each day of the week . Dinner with appetizers and drinks for 2 was $75. Had left over for dinner .

We've been coming here for a while and the servers knows us and already know what we're gonna order. We love this place. We mostly come on Saturdays for their hearty delicious chicken noodle soup and their beef short ribs that are melt in your mouth goodness. You look around and you see nothing but regulars and thats how you know their doing something right. You can order breakfast lunch or dinner and they have weekly specials. If you want to be treated like family while enjoying a delicious meal then come here. You won't be disappointed. I highly recommend this place

I grew up in the tri-city area and so many fond memories at Baldie's Cafe. I'd say it's one of the local, eminent institutions. Very hardworking & kind staff and hearty delicious American diner food. I like their breakfast and brunch a lot but if you cannot stand crowds on weekends I'd say do take out or visit for lunch or dinner; or visit on weekdays. This place will leave you with a smile when you're full and happy upon exit. Cheers.

I love a good classic old-school diner, and this place checked all the boxes. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and it's become our little tradition to search for new breakfast spots after church--so I'm really glad we stumbled upon this one. Everything was perfection: the service, the atmosphere, the menu, and of course the food. One thing I especially appreciated was that they serve warm syrup with the pancakes--such a small detail, but it makes a huge difference. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu, especially their lunch and dinner options!

Whether you want breakfast, lunch or dinner this spot can satisfy your hunger. The meals are cooked fresh and come out delicious. The staff is very attentive and friendly. This has been a local favorite for many. From traditional American to Greek dishes ,you won't leave hungry.

An oldie but goodie! Baldie's has been around since I can remember. Their breakfast, served all day, is always a solid choice and my go-to all these years. The Mediterranean omelette is my favorite and the hash browns are pure perfection. Reservations accepted via phone. I called for a party of 10 a couple weeks prior for dinner and it was easy peasy. We started off sharing the fried zucchini and fried calamari. Both huge portions! They were both not the strong suit of the meal and I would pass on the fried starters in the future. The meat entrees were on point! I got the prime rib and my fiancé got the coulotte steak. Both were cooked a perfect medium rare, as requested. The meals come with a starter soup or salad, choice of starch and a side of green beans. All very standard. The staff is so nice and accommodating. A great value for the money!

Prime Rib Dinner with Asparagus, Mashed Potatoes & County Gravy for Breakfast at 10am

Came in for breakfast on Friday morning at 10am and got a table fairly fast. The service was awesome and the servers assistants keep refilling our coffee and ice water. You don't see that now a days unless you go to a high end restaurant. I'm glad this establishment still values great service. Now, at 10am, I came in with the intention of getting breakfast, but saw the Prime Rib menu and I said to the sever can I get the prime rib, to my surprise she said YES and asked how I wanted it, medium rare please, and she said soup or salad, soup is clam chowder. Me. clam chowder please. The prime rib was lil more well done than I like it, but it was still very good. The clam chowder was very good as well with lots of clams. The mashed potatoes was delicious and the asparagus cooked perfectly. Oh, Prime Ribs only available on Friday and Saturday. I was very surprise they have it already cooked this early in the morning and let me order it. Their breakfast is very good as well. I have been here a few times prior and had their breakfast.

I'm a sucker for any place that serves breakfast all day in big comfy booths. Baldies Cafe has an old timey diner feel with an extensive menu to choose from and they're open til 8 PM. Most of the old school restaurants in the area close much earlier now making it difficult to enjoy breakfast for dinner. Service was great too, fast and friendly.

This was my first stop during a thrifting adventure and definitely a great find. The place was spotless and had a cool retro diner vibe. I really liked the old-school tables and seats, which added to the nostalgic charm of the place. Service was quick and genuinely friendly. It made me feel like I was back in my hometown. I love diner food, and their menu had everything I was looking for, with breakfast served all day. When the nice lady told me the ribeye was fantastic, I had to try it. It came with three eggs, hash browns, and toast. They even had a tasty local steak sauce that paired perfectly. The food came out in about fifteen minutes, and the steak was cooked perfectly. Honestly, it was better than what I've had at a lot of steakhouses. Prices were very fair, and the place was filled with locals enjoying their meals. I saw sandwiches coming out that were fully stacked, and even though I was full, the smell of the Belgian waffles was still tempting. This will definitely be a routine stop whenever I'm headed this way from the city. They have a good-sized parking lot, clean bathrooms, and plenty of seating both inside and outside.

The food is always great here! The people here are always friendly and welcoming. When you enter here you feel a little nostalgia of the 1950's all the way to the modern days with a small town twist. I always feel home here even though I now live out of town.

Ask the Community - Baldie's Café

Do they have a Senior menu?

Menu says breakfast is served all day, but what about lunch/dinner/dinner specials? Are those limited to certain hours?

Lunch/dinner is also served all day

Do they have gift cards? I want to gift a friend a meal here.

Yes! Go in and ask at the front desk.

Do I need to make a reservation?

No however if the seating is full you need to stand in line to wait for the next available table.

Are you reopen for indoor dining yet?

    Yes

Is this place crowded a lot? Also what's the noise level?

It mainly gets crowded on the weekends for breakfast and lunch. During those times it can be a little bit loud but nothing unbearable. Usually there is always a wait during those times. The week days are not packed at all and you can just come in…

We had the purple-colored Ube Pancakes and the Khao Hom Waffle, which contained strips of fresh coconut meat, and both beautifully-plated dishes were topped with berries and syrup. I was an even bigger fan of the Thai side of the menu, starting with the Papaya Salad, a refreshing, crunchy mixture of shredded papaya, green beans, tomatoes, and crushed peanut in a spicy, sweet, acidic dressing made of fish sauce and lime. For our mains, the Northern Thai Khao Soi was a noodle soup made of egg noodles and chicken breast strips in a rich coconut curry, topped with crispy egg noodles, pickled cabbage, and fried shallots. From the Chef's Special menu, the Tom Yum Crab Omelet was a mound of jasmine rice enveloped with an egg omelet, topped with chunks of crab, mushrooms, and a creamy tom yum sauce; and my favorite dish was the Roti Gai Tod, a hearty combination of breaded chicken thigh, roti (a flaky flatbread), cucumber salad, jasmine rice, and a mild but flavorful yellow curry sauce on the side. Overall, everything we tried here was delicious, and the service was super quick and friendly too! It's hard to go wrong with anything on the extensive menu--what a great hidden gem of a restaurant in downtown Hayward!

We sat in the back portion of the restaurant, which seems to possibly be a new addition for them? I'm not sure. I liked all of the picture framework in the front of house, with cute bacon and egg play on jokes. Menus are worn out. Could use a reprint or lamination, but that's minor. Food: Ordered the beignets, a corned beef hash breakfast meal (husband's dish), and a 3 egg pancake combo for myself. Yum! The beignets are more doughy than I expected, but tasted fresh. This is not your princess and the frog beignet, more of a doughnut puff type? I don't know how to describe it exactly, haha. The staff was accommodating in putting their vanilla and chocolate sauces on the side for dipping which I appreciated. Pancake was good, eggs cooked well (I love a place that knows how to cook a soft scramble), while their home fries are not what I expected (I think I typically prefer a more crispy potato), this showed me that I can possibly save myself time in the future when making at home. While not crispy, the home fries were delightful, entirely cooked through with a thin crisp edge. Staff: very kind! You know it is a family run business. The only thing I found mildly off putting was that one of the young servers wore his pajama bottoms. It did not feel like something a server should wear. But, if the place is a "come as you are" kind of a place, I understand. Overall: we will come back. Good food for a good price. Overall a good atmosphere and positive vibe.
