    Country Fried Steak
    Amy T.

Really amazing breakfast place that has been around since the 90s. The service is so speedy and seamless between staff from the moment we walked in, everyone is so attentive. The food came in what felt like a few minutes after we ordered and everything was hot and comforting. I ordered the country fried steak which comes with toast, potatoes and eggs your way. The gravy was so smooth and done well, the potatoes are sweetened which was interesting. The only reason this wasn't a 5 star for me was the country fried steak wasn't the tastiest, it was okay but the best that I've had in terms of texture and seasoning. I am very opened to returning to try their omelette. Portions are big here.

Located right off the freeway this is a unique shaped building with strong roof pitch and short windows . Very old 50s look but that is the draw to this location . Closes at 3pm but serves everything from breakfast to dinner plates . Everything is large portions and pricing is average . They have local radio station the breeze playing which has a great 80s playlist . Waitress was friendly and attentive. 100% will return .

Stopped in for lunch. This restaurant goes back to my childhood with very rustic dining room in an A-frame wood building. The service was friendly and good. The prices are reasonable. The portions are also very good size. Meals come with soup or salad. I ordered the salad, which is a lot of lettuce with garbanzo beans and kidney beans on top with choice of dressing. I also had the patty melt which was tasty with meat patty, grilled onions, served with steak potatoes. I thoroughly enjoyed it although the bottom was soggy and my patty was only 1/2 of the bread. It was thick however I feel it should have been formed to fill the rye bread it was served on. My meal was again very tasty. My offend ordered the soup with the open-faced turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce. The soup was Chicken and Rice however it was very thick and gelatinous , more like cream of chicken. Then the server brought his plate and apologize that they had ran out of mashed potatoes and substituted fries instead. He had ordered it mostly for the mashed potatoes and gravy, but they never mentioned being out of potatoes until it arrived. Then it was missing the cranberry sauce which he asked for and she brought him some. Being that there was gravy all over the turkey, it also got onto much of the fries and caused some to become soggy. By this time he really wished he would have ordered something different but we were hungry and didn't want to send it back. The turkey and gravy were showered well seasoned and tasted good.

I went with my husband to celebrate his birthday with a delicious breakfast, and also because we love the service--they are always so attentive. I love the omelette. The place es perfect, the atmosphere is lovely and the decor is amazing.

Food was pretty good, I got the apple sausage with potatoes and eggs. I wish my potatoes were cooked for a bit longer. Service was friendly and quick and we were able to find parking. Seems like a Fremont staple where a lot of locals go too. Glad I got to try it once and that is good enough for me

I'm big on customer service and the moment we got to the door somebody greeted us while opening the door for both my wife and I. She sat us down and we were greeted again by our server (Gina). She is someone who is a bright shining star and is customer service driven. Very kind, efficient and helpful. The staff made sure our coffee and drinks were. Filled. We never had to ask for anything it was a great experience.

Packaged butter at an award winning breakfast joint?

I came here for breakfast, but what I got was a personality test. The pancakes were dry. Not just dry. Desert convention keynote speaker dry. Rubbery too, which raises questions I don't want answered. How is that even possible? It's like they engineered a new state of matter just to spite maple syrup. And the butter. Packaged. Little plastic hotel squares of sadness. Who in the world gives you packaged butter for pancakes? I expected a pat of butter, not a scavenger hunt prize sponsored by inconvenience. The bacon was chewy with sections that looked like they were shown a pan from across the room but never formally introduced. At one point I genuinely wondered if they swapped in ham as a prank. If it was a prank, congratulations, I noticed. Hash browns arrived resembling a mashed potato sculpture that somehow got its PhD in structural integrity. It tasted exactly like mashed potatoes that decided to cosplay as something fried just long enough to hold its shape for the photo. To their credit, the eggs were correct. The bar is on the floor, but they stepped over it gracefully. However, the chef clearly believes over easy means over everything. There was a literal oil puddle surrounding the eggs, like they were trying to escape by raft. Then the Belgium waffle. Belgium was nowhere to be found. I checked under the plate. Nothing. It was crispy, overcooked, and existentially confused. It wasn't a waffle. It was a warning. This is a disappointment of Olympic scale. For decades this place was known for incredible pancakes, French toast, and Belgium waffles. Those days are long gone. Long long gone. We drove up from the South Bay to relive nostalgia, but 2026 clearly had other plans. Maybe it changed owners. Maybe the recipes staged a quiet rebellion. Whatever happened, this is no longer breakfast, it's archaeology. Consider this place officially crossed out on the list of top breakfast spots in the Bay.

Wanted some breakfast after a morning walk. Decided to try this place out. It's located near the 880 exit. I've driven past this place so many times and never really seemed to notice it. There is a good amount of parking. Among walking in, you're greeted by such a charming interior. It's like you're in a lodge cabin up in the snowy mountains. You can just tell by how the staff and customers interact with each other that it's the spot where they are definitely regulars. I got the chicken apple sausage with the eggs over medium and wheat toast with potatoes. At first they got my order wrong and gave me scrambled eggs instead, but they fixed the issue and came out with my over medium eggs in the quickness. The food was great, comforting breakfast food. The potatoes weren't really my cup of tea but that's okay. My friend liked it. I really liked how they use this old fashion cash register. I hope this place never loses it's charm and great service.

After a 12 hour shift at tesla my huge breakfast was well needed and so good . Me and my co- worker went for her birthday breakfast and enjoyed it. This location is in the cuts a little bit but I enjoyed it

Country Way is an old favorite, and I've been back in town for a minute lately.. I need to try new things, but B&G are an old goto. Everyone loves Country Way!!

Genius, continuously topped off coffee so its always hot
    Yousuf K.

Ordered the beef hash with two sunny side eggs. Absolutely delicious...this is my go-to breakfast and they nailed it. They say little details count, and I'm a fan of how they serve coffee in little teacups vs mugs. Sitting at the counter, the servers were continuously topping the coffee off even if I took a few sips, ensuring my coffee was always hot. 10/10 This place brings the country to you, with simple and consistent great food. Will definitely visit again. Indoor dining was plenty, but they were busy. Parking lot is large and it was easy to find parking. Cant leave a tip with tap to pay, so please keep that in mind.

I went here on 11/30/24 around 9 AM. I saw GrubwithMike's review on Tiktok and wanted to try this place. The Host wanted to seat me at the bar but the Filipino Lady told me I can sit at the booth which I am grateful for. More space for me. I forgot her name but she was very kind and kept checking on me. The Country Fried Steak is BOMB.com and Very Tasty! That is all. 10/10. Will come back again when I'm in the area.

Ask the Community - Country Way

    Are you closed for dinner?

    They close at 3 PM

Do they take reservations for Sat brunch? If not, what is the average wait time for brunch-lunch?

No, they do not take reservations only walk ins. In my experience the longest we had to wait to 15-30mins which is pretty fast since this place is almost always full. You won't regret waiting, food comes out fast and the service is excellent.

How many eggs are in a Country Way omlette?

    I believe 3 large eggs

Do they still have a different soup every day?

I would call the restaurant because I think after the pandemic they had only the same soups.

Are they serving different soups every day again?

No soup of the day anymore. No M-F earlbird specials, no M-F breakfast specials

Do you close at 8pm? Arrived just after 8 on a Saturday night and found the place closed.

They close at 3 PM every day.

Are they still doing outdoor dining?

    I don't think so

Do they serve breakfast food all day?

Yes, they do, unless they run out of the raw foods...They are quite popular, and on busy days, they do run out of stuff...

Does the yummy split pea soup have potatoes in it?

    No potatoes

A Place I Keep Coming Back To…read more I've been to Texas Roadhouse many times over the years--I just never remembered to take photos until this visit. For me, Texas Roadhouse isn't about finding the most expensive or most luxurious steak. It's about getting together with family or friends, enjoying a cold beer, sharing great appetizers, and having a relaxed meal without breaking the bank. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from a classic American steakhouse. It's lively, energetic, and always feels welcoming. I also love the open kitchen and the hand-cut steak display when you walk in. Watching the staff prepare fresh steaks adds to the whole experience. One thing I miss is the old bucket of complimentary peanuts. They now come in individual bags, which is definitely cleaner and more hygienic, but I do miss that old-school Texas Roadhouse tradition. The warm fresh-baked rolls with cinnamon butter are still incredible. Honestly, I could probably eat an entire basket before my entrée arrives. My must-order items every single visit: Steak The steaks are consistently good. Are they premium steakhouse quality? No. But they're cooked well, seasoned properly, and offer excellent value for the price. That's exactly why I keep coming back. Cactus Blossom (The Giant Onion Appetizer) This is an absolute MUST. It's surprisingly difficult to find restaurants that serve an onion appetizer this size anymore. Most places either offer onion rings or a much smaller blooming onion. Texas Roadhouse's Cactus Blossom is enormous, beautifully presented, and fried to a perfect golden crisp. Every petal stays crunchy while the onion inside remains sweet and tender. Pair it with their signature dipping sauce, and it's the perfect appetizer to share over drinks. If you're visiting for the first time, don't skip it. It has become one of the signature dishes that keeps me ordering it every visit. Fried Catfish Another item I highly recommend. Crispy on the outside, moist and flaky inside, and surprisingly light. It goes perfectly with a cold beer and good conversation. Loaded Baked Potato Simple but done right--loaded with sour cream, cheddar cheese, bacon bits, and butter. Comfort food at its best. One thing that deserves special recognition is the service. Every visit, the servers have been friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Drinks are refilled before you even have to ask, and they frequently check in without being intrusive. Great service makes a huge difference, and the staff here consistently delivers. They're absolutely the kind of servers who deserve a generous tip. At the end of the day, Texas Roadhouse isn't trying to compete with high-end steakhouses--and that's perfectly fine. It knows exactly what it is: a fun, casual American steakhouse where people gather to enjoy good food, cold beer, and great company. The steak is consistently good, the portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, the service is excellent, and the overall experience keeps me coming back. I'll definitely be back again. Highly recommended.

I always get good appetite as soon as I enter the restaurant: love watching the bread being made and the steaks on display. It's also great that the wait staff always grabs a basket of hot bread with cinnamon butter spread as they bring guests to their tables. Bags of peanuts are also waiting at the table. I always order the same thing: 20oz bone-in Ribeye Steak with Caesar Salad and baked sweet potato as sides. It's a great value at $37.99 although I still remember it being $10 cheaper when I started coming to this restaurant. The steak is always perfectly cooked, medium rare is how I like it. The salad is always fresh and crisp. The sweet potato is nicely baked and really tender. That soft, hot bread is addicting. Service is excellent because their wait staff is trained to keep bringing the bread even without being asked. They are very nice about it. And since they have a dedicated person making the bread continuously, they never run out. The free peanuts are also very good and keep customers occupied while waiting. Food came out at a decent pace. It's loud and lively inside the restaurant. The whole atmosphere is very cheerful. I have been to other Texas Roadhouses since it's a chain. They are very consistent and they all operate very smoothly. Highly recommended if you are looking for a decent steak house and do not want to break your wallet!

PARKING: Located in a shopping plaza, they have plenty of parking. IMPRESSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS: We ordered a few of their skewers, all of which were just pretty average and lacked flavor and smokiness. Their garlic fries were simply topped with garlic, but not well dispersed throughout while the bbq beef ribs had barely any meat. The grilled oysters sadly also lacked flavor. Overall, with the subpar service and food, we won't be back.
