Prime rib specials? I must try! My sister told me about Swiss Park's prime rib wednesday deal for $22 and I made a dinner date with her to try it out. I didn't even know this spot existed. It's located around New Park mall with it's own parking lot. The entree typically comes with a salad, vegetable and baked potato. You have the option to order how well your meat is cooked. As always I swapped baked potato to fries. For the price, you do get a good meal which is hard to come back with shrinkflation these days. Overall I'd come back here for my prime rib cravings. Don't expect high quality House of Prime rib meat - my salary can't afford that on a daily basis. For context, my usual used to be prime rib deals at Black Angus - sadly they are gone. Also this spot has amazing drink deals for $5 which ain't too shabby to go with your meal. read more

This place is absolutely horrible. They never answer their phone so you can place a togo order. Drive there to try and order in person, 1 lady working behind the bar is the only place you can order your food to go, stood there for almost half hour and no help. Lived in fremont for years now and have only tried this place out because a friend recommended their primerib nights on Wednesdays. Now I love primerib! So rating might be a little on the low end and mainly for the meal. Called for a Togo order. Gentleman answered and didn't really know about the prime rib dinner and had to ask someone. Nice guy and might've been new. Didn't ask for my name for the order but did tell me how long. About 10 mins. Wife went in and picked up food so I don't really know how the place looked like. Will update review once I come back and grab a few beers. Onto the meat! They actually forgot about the salads that came with our dinner but that's ok, sort of used to that nowadays and it's our fault for not inspecting the food prior to leaving. Mashed potatoes were decent and smooth with hardly any clumps and a well seasoned gravy. Vegetable mix was cooked well with a butter garlic sauce and seasoned nicely. However the meat was some what tough. Lacking a little more flavor and more on the fatty side. Meat was closer to medium well which I love it to be medium rare. However the person did warn us that it would be a toss up on how done our meat would be lol. Overall our dinner was decent. Most definitely not in my top 10 of prime rib dinners, but for $20 it's not bad at all. It's worth the $20 and you shouldn't expect much flavor wise with that price range. The burger was so bad it ruined my night. The basket of wings was not even good enough to finish shared among 3 people. The fries didn't even taste fully cooked. To make everything worse, I stood in a line for 15 minutes to order the food, and then it too another 30 minutes come out. Luckily, I was able to wash down the terrible food with a beer. If you come here for an event, avoid the food, save room for either beer or going to another place after for food. I was here for a comedy event, which was fun, and I loved the look of the place. Swiss Park should be Newarks's official bar and grille. The food is great, good beer selection on tap, and the mixed drinks perfectly hit the spot after a long work day. They could use a couple more of those bar dividers to keep an area open to order/serve drinks since the bar is super long. 2 stars because of 1 of the bartender's service. The (blond? was wearing a hat) female bartender was rude. Started as a group of two of us as we were meeting others there for the comedy show. When we approached the bar, she clocked us and immediately went and sat down with patrons at another table (this happened at least 2 more times before our evening was over, and no she wasn't taking their order - oh how I wish John Taffer were there!!) leaving the male bartender alone to handle patrons tricking in (nice, ordered from him later). When she finally made her way back to behind the bar again she was huffin' & puffin', scolded us for sitting at the well and told us to move, I quietly said Ma'am the chairs were here, we didn't move them. We scooted over, eventhough now our 3rd friend had come to sit & we were going to be squished if we ordered food (luckily, there were enough people that the larger room was opened so we were able to eat dinner as originally planned). She kept moving things around us - tip jars, our drinks, menus as if our presence disturbed her. It was weird. Once we moved to the bigger area, things were fine. I ordered from the male bartender, he was nice and made a little joke about hoping my drink order wasn't to difficult. It looked like he was under pressure to get drinks out as the other bartnder was again seated at a table w/friends, patrons? Steak & shrimp special $22, solid meal. The free comedy show was fun, newbies cutting their teeth on a mixed crowd (age, ethnicity, professions, etc.). All in all, a good night! I rented the back park for my husbands birthday for 90 people. Everyone liked the venue! There are many bleachers there so events that need to seat many can be accommodated. They have tables and chairs for about 100 people. I had a bar tender and hosted the beer and wine. The prices were great! Bathrooms and grounds were clean. There is a kitchen area with an old electric stove BUT NO SINK. When preparing food I had to keep running to my camper (we brought) to wash my hands. Access to a sink in the kitchen is a must when handling food. read more

They've had the outdoor park area open most of the last 12 months. Great spacing between the picnic tables so you can sit away from people if you'd prefer. They have a tent setup but I don't think I've really seen many people use it. Near the bar area there's a small group of tables with heaters. At night they turn on the overhead patio lights and it's pretty quaint. The outdoor bar has a giant 10'x20' plexi barrier between you and the bartender, marks on the ground to encourage people to not stand right next to you. Hand sanitizer when you walk in. This has been one of those places that's helped keep my sanity during all this isolation. I can walk over from my house nearby, read a book, spend some time outdoors, have a beer or some food, maybe meet up with one or two people from my small friend group and still be relatively 'safe.' Don't have to worry about it being a madhouse or there being people spilling out into the parking lot. *cough* Lazy Dog *cough* (Nothing wrong with LD, they're just perpetually slammed all hours during COVID) Same very fair/cheap pricing for drinks and food that you got pre-COVID. Plus they serve DasBrew beer if you want to support a local brewery! Not to mention service is still pretty fantastic from the usual crew of bartenders. I hope they keep opening the outdoor bar on the weekends or those days that aren't too cold even though we're into the Red tier now. read more

Swiss park bar and Grill has been around for many years, It's not only a bar; but they also have a hall indoor where you can have a Events they do catering. Also they have an outside space a private bar and restrooms & has about over 20 picnic tables where you can have big events. One thing I have to say you have to stop by and see Walt. He is there on Saturdays and Wednesdays and he makes the best Hennessey and Coke made just right and the price is even better. The food is good if you haven't tried it, I've had a few parties there of my own, always consistent and they offer barbecue on certain days, you must try it at least once. We went into Swiss Park for a quick drink. The bar was full, which is good for them, but bad if you aren't a regular. Walt can't handle a full bar. He walked past us at least 6 times and NEVER acknowledged us. At least tell us you will be right with us. Regulars kept walking up to the bar and he would help them. He passed by us the 7th time and I asked, " can we get a drink?" He literally bit my head off and said, "yea when I help everyone else." What the heck? We walked out. I understood busy, but don't ignore or snap at someone for a simple request. This is the type of bartender that should work a bar of 10 people or less. Cute spot. I've passed this place for years and always make a mental note to stop by. Then the pandemic hit and well we all know how that went. When the East Bay, Alameda county specifically, reopened I thought of this place to have my daughter's graduation party. She opted for several smaller gatherings with our respective social bubbles to avoid the possibility of contracting and spreading COVID (what 17 year old do you know is that responsible?!?!). This year, my niece graduated and well, hosted MIAchella at Swiss Park. And lemme tell you, it fit her theme perfectly. This is a great spot for a drinks in Fremont. It is pretty small and has a dive bar feel to it. I used to frequent this place a LOT during my heavy drinking days lol. The drinks are super cheap ($5 for a henny shot) and the bartenders are so nice! Wanda still remembers me when I come in, she's the best. They also host a free comedy show on some Fridays, so that is worth checking out as well. They also have a pool table that is free to play. I have met a lot of interesting people here and I always have a good time! They also have a decent food menu, we got the meatloaf once and it was delicious. It may not be for everyone, but I do enjoy this place. read more

This place is hit and miss. I came here a Wednesday night and the bartender was a nice polite person. He rounded and was moving the whole time. I came here a Thursday night and a women was working the bar. She was moving between customers...and doing shots with them. As a bartender you should never drink on the job. The food was ok. I order fish and chips. If the fish was friend anymore I'd need a impact wrench to get into it. Overall will definitely not come here again and would not recommend it to anyone either. read more

A local dive for the most part but it is first and foremost a huge old school gathering hall, actually originally built by Swiss ex-pats (check out the design on the exterior). The bar area with food in the evening is kept open weekly to bring in cash flow in between events (solid business decision). And for me it's a perfect fit. A low-key dive where I can slip into a decent drank (or 2?) and grub on some decent food. They just recently brought in a legit kitchen staff to execute what I would describe as properly made diner food. Nothing fancy but really solid. A $12 steak with accompaniments and a truck stop salad with garbanzos, kidney beans and sliced beets, how old school is that?! I've also had nightly specials like a smoked pork chop and a tri-tip plate and all were money as I sipped on greyhounds or scotch n sodas. My little laid-back sanctuary. This was such a cute little bar! I've never been to Germany...or for that matter, any other part of Europe, but I felt like if I went there, this is kind of bar I would come across. We went here to watch Game 5 on a Sunday evening and there was an empty-looking bar with older people on the other side waltzing/dancing. It was funny because we couldn't get into BJs for another hour so this is where we came and it was reallyyyy loud (not from the Dubs fans but from the loud waltzing music). this place is nice for a hangout and if you want to come here for dinner and dance....kind of an old-fashioned pub but I still find it very cute. The blond female bartender wasn't rude but not very friendly. I guess this was because I am not a regular customer (first visit). So minus one star for that. I ordered with the bartender (per a sign) and she brought my food order to the chef. She brought my beer and soon after he delivered my food. I had the grilled cheeses with red onions and a side salad. The beer was ok. Next time I will go with a bottled one that I know instead of the Licher. Now the food was fantastic. I loved that the salad had a lovely presentation that included lettuce, chopped tomato, onion, beets, and garbanzo beans. Now I know to ask for no beets. The dressing came on the side in a little cup without asking (also awesome). I introduced myself to the chef and he is very friendly.
