We locked ourselves out. First thing in the morning on a Saturday. In our jammies. In the rain. The neighbor we'd given a spare key somehow lost it. The first locksmith we called (blindly) came from Kenmore, got lost and took well over an hour to arrive, and he couldn't get in. He tried for 10 seconds and then told us he should call someone with more lock-picking experience (he was over 70) and then he said he'd need to drill it out for almost $300. We decided to ask him to leave and called another locksmith. This time we got it right. We called Ballard Lock and Key and told them the situation. They sent a locksmith who arrived in 20 minutes and it took him all of 30 seconds to get into our home. Amazing!!!!! I needed a new car remote made and programmed! I was instructed to call Justin, who came out to my house that same day. Not only did he make me the copies of the keys I needed, programmed, he also fixed my busted lock I didn't originally call about. (I just never knew that was a service they did. Thought I had to go to mechanic.) What they charge is by far way cheaper than what Honda would of charged me. For everything they did equaled to ONE key at Honda. I would give Ballard Lock & Key a thousand stars.... So this is what happened: My bf and I were moving into a new apartment. The kitchen table wouldn't fit into the apartment door, so I had the genius idea of taking the door off of the hinges. Of course it wouldn't go back on. We spent hours calling handymen, but couldn't get a hold of anyone. Just when we were about to give up hope, I called ballard Lock and Key. I wasn't sure if it was in the scope of their work, but Bob came out and resolved the problem within 5 minutes. Door is as good as new! Arranged this morning for someone to come change a lock at our house at 4:30 this afternoon. We're in kind of a sticky situation and really needed the work done today. Anyway, no one was here at 4:30, so I called the company. A very nice woman told me that she could not reach either of the two guys who would have been assigned the house, either by text or by phone. She was very sorry, but she had no explanation for me, other than to say that she saw our house was on the schedule. She asked me whether I would like to reschedule. Why would I want to do that? If the company is unreliable today, why would it be reliable tomorrow? Glad so many other people have had good experiences with this company. We did not. My roommate locked his keys in his room at our house. To top it off, the homeowner put the doors on upside-down and backwards, making it impossible to jimmy the door open with a credit card. He had to be somewhere fairly soon and every one of his keys were on that keychain, including the one and only car key and fab! I called Robbie, the owner and he said he was up north and asked if an hour be too long to wait. I said no, not at all. One of my neighbors was kind enough to call Ballard Lock & Key for assistance saying he'd had them help him with a lock out in the past. I locked my keys and phone in my car while getting gas the other day. The gas station attendant helped me call about four different locksmiths, all which were about 30+ minutes out. On our last try we got lucky, these guys were already on their way to help another person so they were about two minutes away. Thank god! In a recent move, my two drawer file cabinet was locked accidentally. After a vain hour long search for its key, I called Ballard Lock & Key. In a very short time, a very buoyant and courteous man arrived, who introduced himself, and asked where the file cabinet was located. Then he analyzed the problem and the physical structure, explained what the problem was, and after a very short discussion, picked the lock which we hope never gets locked again. It is an old style sturdy version which is they don't make today. This entire session lasted less than 15 minutes!!! Wow - Robie was knowledgeable, skilled, quick to grasp the problem, quicker in solving the problem. I feel quite fortunate to have this inconvenience quickly and skillfully removed. read more
