Thank you for making our school look so special! I have used them personally when I needed special balloons for birthday parties. They also helped me when I wanted to give each child at my son's daycare a single balloon on his very last day - a parting gift. That time I didn't have a car so they had to help me secure the balloons on my bike rack. Balloon Concepts keeps evolving. Their original location was torn down for a parking lot. It was like that Old Yellow Taxi song. So, they moved into a corner location at SM Blvd and Lincoln Blvd with the carpet store next door. For over five years they shared a space divided in half: One side flooring samples, the other side party supplies. The flooring shop had shorter hours, but the balloons people would flip on the lights if you wanted to browse. It was the makings of a workplace multi-camera comedy except I don't know anyone in the industry who could've pitched it as a sitcom. I could not be more happy... this locally family owned business is just wonderful! I got asked to do the balloons for my sisters bridal shower and I thought that I would just go to Party City. I obviously didn't know what I was doing. I waited last minute - how hard is it to get a few balloons? But then I also wondered whether I could get Party City to deliver the balloons. When I was poking around on Yelp about balloon services, delivery and for "best balloons" in Santa Monica, I found Balloon Concepts. I really, really liked the balloons on their website.... the ones on Yelp were nice too. I realized looking at the balloon art work that there's a lot that goes into making balloon bouquets and I was silly for waiting last minute... I left a message for this business, apologizing for waiting the night before. I got nervous and left a message for another company that called me back before Balloon Concepts did. And while they were nice they were unable to accommodate what I really wanted... A beautiful selection of balloons, delivered, all for a reasonable price. The other place wouldn't do anything for less than $300 this weekend and delivery was almost twice as much. I was so grateful when I got a message from the owner letting me know that they could help me to just call them the next morning at 10. They couldn't have been nicer. They were very friendly, knowledgeable and careful to stay under my budget. Amazing customer service! I was asked questions about the colors in my sisters wedding and whether there was anything specific I was looking for. I told them I really liked the wedding arrangements I had seen on their webpage and that I also loved the chrome balloons. They took those little pieces of information and put together really gorgeous arrangements. When I walked into the restaurant and I saw the balloons, I gave a big WOW! As did my sister! I originally wrote this review when I was very very tired, but I was so enthusiastic I had to start the review. They were so beautiful and everyone, I mean everyone complimented me on the balloons... They really made this occasion special and elegant as well as magical. They were even more beautiful than I had imagined and most importantly my sister loved them! I feel silly for even thinking about going to Party City- never again! I took a ton of pictures of the balloons and posted them on Facebook and got a lot of compliments on them! I usually wait, to digest the experience and product, but my balloon lasted no even for 5 hours. I called and a gentleman who helped me with the balloons was very helpful and nice, but I asked if he could help with the issue or provide another ballon, especially since it didn't last. He said I would need to but a whole new balloon. But the first one you sold me didn't last, and these balloon are not cheap. You want me to buy another? No discount? The balloons don't last, and they don't provide assistance for incidents like faulty balloons. Thanks for nothing. read more

Yes, there was a sign that "pull" but it was an honest mistake. I came in here for the first time to get some balloons for my son's second birthday. They exceeded anything I was expecting! So many colors, and I ended up getting the cutest polka dots. They styled two bunches for me and even make their own weights so they won't blow away. Yes, this place is a bit pricey. If you can find the same thing in almost any chain store, it will probably be cheaper. But that being said, sometimes it's worth it to spend a little extra to support businesses run by nice families who pay attention to service and take the extra steps to make you happy. I wandered in looking for party hats for an upcoming birthday party and the owners were super friendly from the moment I walked in the door. I told them what I wanted and they went into their stockroom to bring me something that wasn't out on their shelves. There's also some stuff that you can't find anywhere else, like a giant, embarrassing birthday cone hat - perfect for humiliating your loved ones! I told them the idea, the budget and they made it come to life. I was so excited about the dazzle stars haha. The balloons were for a surprise party and when my sister came to pick them up not quite prepared to transport them, they drove the balloons over to the party themselves. I needed a piñata for my niece's 1st birthday, and party city's piñatas were way too small and way too expensive. I yelped party supply stores and came across party land. I called and spoke with Darin; he had a bit of a dry and sarcastic type humor that someone could take as being rude, but I found no offense to it. He was very nice and was very eager to help me get what I needed. He didn't have the piñata in the store but he said he could get it from his supplier the next day. I told him exactly what I wanted and he said he could do it. I went and picked it up two days later and it was everything I had been looking for and more! (Not to mention super cheap compared to party city!) I got a huge "one" piñata for a price cheaper than the small piñatas at party city. Nancy helped me out in store and she was the sweetest! I was extremely happy with the service here and will totally go back again. The only reason I gave a 4 star is because the store was pretty empty. I think it had to do with the fact that they were moving to a different location. But all in all it was a great little mom and pop shop! read more

I ordered birthday balloons as a surprise for my friend through the phone; described what I wanted and the budget I have for it. When I came in to pick up the balloons, I love that they taught me how to set it up and helped me get them into my car. They were nice and friendly. Ugh the lady is SO RUDE. Basically, I came to meet a friend for breakfast at Swinger's down the block. I forgot the meters in this area haven't caught on to the trend most others on the Westside of accepting cards, and my car change recently went to the laundry machine. I walked in, told her honestly that I was looking for car change in the area (I had dollars). She replied that she didn't have change because she'd been getting bills all day. Me: "Can I buy something small and get change? I don't have any for the meter. How about a 29 cent candy?" (eye-ing the candies at the front) Lady: "People should really think about that...." Me: (in my head) Maybe you should think about having enough change.... So then, she just leaves me standing there without answering my question until I walk out, because her silence was obvious, and offensive. It's okay if you don't have change if I buy something, but can you at least please say so??? I'm the kind of person who doesn't support a business who doesn't have courteous service. When I first walked into this Party Land (which is a teeny storefront just north of where Bay Cities is) the lady was extremely friendly and nice. She even walked around and help me pick out pirate bubbles and Star Wars posters (yes, this birthday party has a mixed-bag blockbuster movie theme...not really, it's just for a 6-year-old). Even though she was out of a lot of things, she didn't know when the next shipment was going to come through, she didn't know how to string up letters to spell a kid's name, they have all their paperwork strewn about on their counter... she remained extremely friendly so I decided to buy $43 worth of goodies. [SERVICE] I e-mailed Party Land late one evening about a balloon bouquet that I needed around lunch time for a VERY last minute baby shower for one of my company's employees. I had seen a balloon bouquet on their website that I was hoping they could customize by adding a few other colors. Darin replied that same evening and asked that I called after the store opened in the morning. While I called promptly at 10am (and not after)-- Darin still took my call prior to finishing his store opening duties. My bouquet was ready by 12:30pm for pickup. [PRODUCT & PRICE] The bouquet itself was BEAUTIFUL! Absolutely more than I had expected to get and at $76.64 it was fairly priced for a last minute floor bouquet. [A PLUS] I didn't take advantage of the coupons on their website as well as a delivery service. Lucky for me, I was able to send an intern to pick my balloons up.
