spent last week in beverly hills for my niece and nephew's 20th birthday and needed to get something special. i remembered driving by this store on robertson a while ago, called balloon lagoon. they had the most amazing balloon sculptures in the window, so i looked them up online and found their phone number. i called ahead and talked to this nice gentleman. told him i wanted something simple but mature - like gold and black balloons. he said they could do that, not too flashy but still outstanding. i was a little worried because sometimes balloons can look kind of cheap, but he reassured me. i called again to confirm the order and everything was all set. when the balloons came on the day of the party - our family was shocked. these weren't just balloons, they were actual pieces of art. gold and black like i wanted, but arranged in such an elegant way. everyone at the party couldn't stop talking about them even the waiters were talking about it!~ they weren't cheap by any means, but you could tell every dollar went into making something absolutely stunning. worth every penny. balloon lagoon really came through for us! read more

I had general questions that any customer would have in preparation for an order and I was treated so poorly and unprofessionally until I just couldn't bring myself to complete an order with them. Rude, dismissive customer service. Unfortunately I was in a bind and needed a nice birthday balloon on very short notice. I wanted to support a small local business, but balloons are overpriced here and given on a very cheap ribbon. I asked for a weight to tie the balloon on since she just handed it to me without one. She told me it was $4 and not worth it. I appreciate her honesty and in the end, it worked out because the cheap ribbon that I tied to a water bottle, snapped in the wind and blew away in about 30 minutes outside. read more

I should have listen to the reviews. I have never encountered a ruder staff. I called to get balloons for a baby shower, no answer. A man called me back, 1 min later, from a random cell phone number (not the one I called) saying he was from the store. I just needed 10 balloons ($3 each), okay fine. He wanted me to pay over the phone but also wanted my CC security #. I didn't feel that comfortable because again this is from a random cell phone that I didnt call. They won't blow them up unless you pre-pay. I asked if I could prepay in cash today (for tomorrow). He said yes, but he didnt know when because he didnt know when someone would be in the store. I said well I need a time so I know when to go there. It is in Beverly hills, parking is AWFUL. He told me 1130a. I got there at 1139a. No one there!!!!!! I call the number back and say I am here. He said yeah sorry the girl will be there in 45 mins. WHAT!! I said I cant come back to pay. He said slip the money through the door slot, but I didn't have small bills. He got mad at me said because "I dont trust anyone" (because I wouldn't give my CC security code over the phone) that I should go elsewhere. He HUNG UP on me. I called back because I'm still standing there. He is rude again and said Just come in the morning and they will fill them then. I said how long does it take --- 5 mins or 30mins who knows was the response. He said come or don't come, I dont care. Followed by many other rude things..then hung up on me again. The owner is a wonderfully kind man who really cares about his business. He's been here since 1981 so obviously he's doing a lot RIGHT!! I'm confused by anyone who could write about rude service. My daughter's 21st birthday is coming up so I phone ordered 3 bouquets for her with the theme of drinks and champagne! You have to celebrate the good times even during the coronavirus. They delivered and left the balloons outside my house and I charged my credit card. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME! I urge everyone to read through these reviews. Almost every review says these people are RUDE, AGRESSIVE and DISMISSIVE! I called and spoke to Mimi regarding a same day order in the area (she confirmed they had other deliveries in the area). I couldn't even describe/explain what I was looking for. Every time I tried to get a word out she was talking over me, literally YELLING. I tried to describe the colors, type of balloon arrangements and style I was looking for. She insisted on telling me that the minimum price for a balloon bouquet is $275 + tax (for anything less, the order would have to be picked up from their location). Even though the price was on the higher end, I agreed.. because I was in a bind (hence my need to order for same day delivery). No matter how many times I tried to explain, how many references I gave from previous orders on their website, Mimi continued to talk over me and focused on the PRICE.... After the 5th time, I had to revert back to customer photos to understand why she consisted on focusing a $275 minimum vs what I was actually looking for (style, colors, etc.). AH ha! if you look close enough... the ribbon, weight, balloons, etc. look cheap! At that point I felt like the arrangements were overpriced (perhaps location?). Regardless, the the staff here are ridiculous and rude. I still feel uncomfortable after being hung up on and spoken to in such a disrespectful manner. Check (mostly because Yelp!ers get 10% off) Correctly charging sales tax on the order? Bzzzz - No Ok, called 'em up a few days before V Day and they were very helpful if, understandably, a bit rushed in the days before a big holiday for them. The description of what you get for close to $100 could have been a bit more helpful ("It's big, it's nice, it's like 6 feet tall!" um, could you please be MORE vague?). They also called me the morning of Feb 14 to confirm what I wanted on the card because they recognized that particular piece of the order was critical -- nice touch. BUT, they also charged a whopping $35 delivery charge AND charged me sales tax on that charge. When I said I didn't think CA requires sales tax to be charged on delivery fees, their response was, "that's what our accountant tells us do to." Ok, so because you receive erroneous advice from your accountant, I have to suffer? Not right. read more

I have been to multiple balloon stores like Party City, however these are some of the greatest owners I have ever met and party city cannot do what these amazing people can do. They are very caring people and paid close attention to my 18 center pieces I have ordered with them. Not a single minute was wasted when my order came in at 6:30PM sharp, and I loved it! Needed 4 balloon bouquets of 13 latex balloons treated with hi-float in the Beverly Hills area for one of our clinic locations. The person I spoke to quoted me $100 for each bouquet of balloons. I did the exact same for our location out in south Orange County for $45 each. I also found a vendor in the Pasadena area with similar pricing. I understand things may be a bit more expensive in this area but double the price for standard red and gold latex balloons is ridiculous. When I let the rep know how much I was paying, he told me to order from them then. Worst customer service. read more

I am at other stores on Robertson about once a week. In the last two years, Balloon Lagoon has been open twice. The woman that runs it was the rudest person ever. She is not interested in helping or talking to customers. The first time I was actually inside was around March of 2012. The next time we were looking at the balloons and told they were closed. Again, very rude. Yesterday, at 1pm on a Saturday, we needed to order a whole lot of balloons for a birthday party next weekend. We walked up and saw the sign said closed. I was shocked as it was a Saturday at 1pm. The lights were on and people were inside. We went to Rosebud cakes and ordered an amazing cake. We were going back to our car when we saw a man and woman walking out of Balloon Lagoon with balloons. We asked the man if we could place an order. He got a look of fright on his face. He said he didn't know if we could but would ask. He went inside and we were standing inside when the same awful woman came up looking totally bothered. I asked of we could please place an order for a birthday party. She said no. She told me they were closed and to call on Tuesday to find out when they would be open. She said they are closed on Sunday and Mondays. She said they are open 11am-4pm, Tuesday-Saturday but not always open during those hours either. I asked if they have animal balloons. She said no. (Mind you they have a wall full of animal balloons right next to where we were all standing) She told me they really only do big things and pointed to a massive balloon bouquet. I have no idea why she assumed that I didn't want a large bouquet. I actually would have but this woman is like an angry troll. With an angry look on her face she said, "You have to go, call on Tuesday to see if we are here. I have a balloon emergency now and I have to work on it!" A balloon emergency? Her only emergency is lack of customer service! There is ZERO customer service. I have no idea how they have stayed in business. When I told people of my experience, several different people told me they had similar experiences there and never went back. I will find a better place to get balloon bouquets and balloons and I will send everyone to the better place. Perhaps the owner ought to learn how to treat people and to actually be open regular hours. I will never try to go to Balloon Lagoon again and I will let my friends and the event planners I know, to stay away. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. BUSINESS ONLY KIND OF EXISTS. I arrived at the store mid-day on Saturday, when they are supposed to open to find it closed with a note on the door that due to the nature of the business, they sometimes close without notice. NOT a great business model. A woman and her tween daughter walked up while I was reading and preparing to call the number on the note and she couldn't believe they were closed. She'd come by earlier in the week, picked out an arrangement and told them she'd be back Saturday to pick it up. They never let her know they were closing. While she was still there, I called the number and the man on the phone informed me that sometimes events happen- "with one day notice" and they have to close the shop. He suggested I try Ralphs. Why not be an e-commerce site? How can they maintain the rent on Robertson Blvd? So inconsiderate and plain stupid. Hire a student to work the counter on the weekends if there is such demand that the staff all "attend events" on what I would assume would be busier days for the store front. I love this place! My family used Balloon Lagoon back in 1983 and 1985 for a couple of parties. Then, after not seeing them for nearly 20 years, I walked into their store as an adult, and they recognized me, and remembered my entire family! These are two of the nicest, most helpful people you'll ever meet. They go to amazing lengths to accommodate the customers, and always do so with pleasure and warmth.
