"Woohoo! As god as it gets!" Is precisely how I would describe this place. From the very beginning of my dancing career (which is to say a year) I have been able to get what I need on and offsite from Ballroom Connection. When I am at the store, the employees there are always very attentive to what I need and also what could work for me. Being relatively inexperienced with the dance world, the employees have used their experience and judgement to give me resources that I never would have been able to pick myself. As a result I feel that I've always been very well equipped! Ballroom Connection makes a point of vendoring at local collegiate and non-collegiate competitions whenever they can which is amazing for those rare and crucial moments that something is lost or broken. I am a Bay Area native and have been dancing ballroom since 1988 and teaching since 1994. I am familiar with the local ballroom supply shops and can easily say that Stephanie has the best store for ballroom shoes in the area. I always send my own students to her and I would easily recommend this store to anyone interested in buying ballroom shoes. She also carries a decent supply of CDs and other ballroom dance supplies, but shoes are especially well stocked and if she doesn't have it in the store she will happily order it for you. The selection may be "limited" by way of "styles" but her selection is more than sufficient for dancers interested in buying shoes for standard, latin, rhythm, or ballroom practice; and the shoes she does carry are high in quality. The shoes I wear every day for teaching are "Stephanies" and it was by sheer trust (in Stephanie) and curiosity that I even bought them in the first place, being a loyal Supadance (and still am when it comes to competition shoes) wearer. These shoes are the best I have found, they are comfortable, sturdy, and the heel is closer to a regular competition size heel so better to train in. I just started my Zumba class and love it. But soon I realize my training shoes is a problem: sticky to the floor. I play soccer a lot and knew where to shop my cleats. But when I google Zumba Shoes for men, surprise: nothing! Consult with my teacher, the answer is zumba.com. Sorry no men shoes on zumba.com. Long story short, I finally realize all I can do is to buy a unisex dance sneaker like Capezio Rockit. I find this local dance shoe shop and made a stop on the way home. They carry the right and quality products. Yes, Stephanie is a charming lady. It is hard to not buy when everything is so right except the price. The price is about 20% to 30% higher than Amazon. I would just consider that as service and fit guarantee charge. Realize Stephanie carries the product lines under her own name. I would suggest her consider her own line of Men's Zumba shoes. Was recommended as a place to go to for dance shoes. I have been interested in buying some salsa ballroom shoes for some time now and am glad I chose this place to visit. The two ladies who helped me were as informative as a book, patient while I made up my mind and helpful in terms of what to look for, what style to choose, correct fit etc. As a first timer they also took into consideration my price point. I originally picked out the most expensive shoe (not surprising) but one of the girls suggested I try a less expensive pair as my first. Very considerate since most sales people would not have talked me out of it. Can't wait to have to get another pair so i can come here. Bought my practice dance shoes at this place since they are closest to where I live, but I will not go back there again. Ever. They helped okay with selecting the shoe; but when I settled on one, the sales assistant quickly removed the shoe bag from the box; and then put in a shoe brush without asking me if I wanted one. We may not have a ton of options when buying dance shoes, but that doesn't mean we'll have to put up with terrible service. Don't buy there. read more

I do not understand the high rate of this place. I have to go there since this is the only place I can actually visit in my area to shop dance shoes but I always feel disgusted after buying stuff there. The sales assistants are snoody and unfriendly. Their pricing is inconsistent from what my friends are getting. Went in and tried on about 4 different kinds of ballroom shoes for International (Waltz, V. Waltz, Slow Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep). Very helpful young woman. Found a great pair, bought them, and was a happy camper. They cost more than others but you get what you pay for. Superior quality and service. These stores are getting hard to find so glad this one still exists. read more

I went here on my recommendation from my dance instructor. So I went in one day and told this Asian lady, my teacher Jennifer from Dance Basic recommend me to go here for a pair of men's dancing shoes. I was greeted by an older Asian lady who didn't introduce herself to me and just said what are you looking for? I can only assume she is the owner. I told her I am a beginning dancing student and was looking for dancing shoes. She said ok and went to get three different shoes based on the size I told her. She put them at my feet and I went through them all and I told her how different shoes hurt my feet in different ways. Also I asked her if it was in natural for the shoes to feel like this since I didn't want the tightness to be on my mind when dancing. All she said was of course it was supposed to feel different and that I should not be comparing to my street shoes as they were like athletic type shoes. I thought that was a rude comment from her, but I didn't make a scene, as what is the point anyways? She then said just go try them out on the wood portion of the floor and pretty much left me alone. She then spent her time attending to these other female customers. After I tried them on the wooden portion, she pretty much left me alone and didn't really come over to help. The only bright spot and why this place deserves one star was that a younger Asian guy, maybe the son, actually came over and helped me and explained to me how a dancing shoe should fit my feet. I again told him I was a beginner and he actually spent time with me. I told him I normally wear 9 wide, but after he saw how they were on my feet, he recommend 8 1/2 for something more snug. I asked him won't that be too tight, he said for now it should be, but over time the leather should stretch. He cautioned that I could go with the 9 if I wanted to, but I would still need to do something like insert a Dr. Scholl pad to fill up the gap. He also explained why the comfortable gap is a big problem in dancing and why the shoes should fit me like a second skin. I thought that was pretty nice of him since I know nothing about dancing shoes. I didn't even know the bottom was suede. So he spent some time with me and I picked a pair. I thanked him for his time and went to pay with the older Asian lady just sitting at her desk now. As I paying, she said you know how to care of these shoes? Cmon, obviously not, if I already told her I am a beginner. She said I need to buy a brush with these metal teeth on it. I said fine, add it to the bill. I then asked her if brush it width wise or length wise and she gave me a weird look and in an unfriendly manner asked what I am talking about? I then had to demonstrate to her what I meant by length wise or width wise and she didn't seem to happy with that. So after I paid, I left feeling what a time waster and why was that lady so customer unfriendly. Told my instructor how this was a horrible experience for me and I felt it was such a time waster. I would not recommend this place based on the service that I got. read more

I needed a pair of W. Coast Swing shoes, and Stephanie had 2 pairs to choose from, both of which were available in my size, as well as a half size larger, so I could try them both. Often, in other stores, what I like is not available in the size or color I want, but this was not the case here. Stephanie was great, very patient, offered her opinion and various options, and let me take my time. She is very nice and friendly. Overall, a very pleasant, successful experience. I made the trek from Marin to Ballroom Connection for Salsa and Ballroom dance shoes yesterday, and I'm so happy I did! I've been taking classes for a while, but without any real understanding of the importance of the proper shoe for each type of dance. Stephanie explained the purpose of closed toe for Ballroom (heel-driven dances) which are structured differently from latin shoes (for pointed toe work). As an expert competitive balllroom dancer herself- I so appreciated her tips on posture/hold! Talking with Stephanie was so enlightening and I found 2 perfect pairs of shoes, as well as some gorgeous fishnet tights. SO much better than buying shoes on the internet -Stephanie is a gem!!! read more

It's always warm in here - top floor of a mall that gets directly slapped by the sun in the afternoon. They carry Celebrity, Go Go, Stephanie, a few others, plus shoes for kids and men. They offer only a selection of their brands - others may be ordered, or if you want a diff heel with the shoe, that must be ordered, and I was told it could take 6-8 weeks. They are polite to the point of being cold, all business, no chit chat, only brings one box out at a time (seems more a pain for them to have to keep running in and out of the back to get diff sizes, etc.). read more

This is the best place I have found to shop for dancing shoes. I started doing ballroom dancing about six months ago and realized that I really needed proper shoes. I went to a different dance shoe store first in Sunnyvale, and I found that they just did not have the expertise in ballroom that I desired. I then went to Ballroom Connection and was so impressed by the service I received. The people working were so helpful and patient with me. After 2 months from my first review of "Ballroom Connection", I've decided to update my review. This past weekend, Stephanie (the owner of Ballroom Connection) called me on two separate occasions trying to reach me. She left messages but I was unable to return her call. Monday comes around and she calls me again. Stephanie wanted to let me know that she read my review and wanted to let me know that she has taken my review to heart and her store now carries Supadance and Ray Rose shoes! I can't reiterate again... how much Stephanie cares about her customers and values their opinion. She could have taken my "4.5 star" rating and be satisfied with it. However, she went above and beyond to make sure that I would be returning as a customer. Ballroom Connection now carries the styles: Cyclone and Earthquake from Ray Rose. The World Professional Latin Champion (Yulia Zagoruychenko) wears the Cyclone. Now that Ballroom Connection carries both Ray Rose and Supadance, I don't see any reason why I would order online. The customer service, variety of dance shoe styles, professionalism of the owner is more than enough of a reason for me to continue purchasing my shoes from them. If you're looking for dance shoes... as a beginner, amateur, or professional... I'd definitely recommend going to Stephanie at Ballroom Connection! read more
