I've had Baltimore seafood three times and it is hands down our favorite place to get boil bags! The most recent time we ordered takeout was for their Valentine's Day Special, which included: lobster tails, Dungeness crabs (a substitute from snow crabs), black mussels, head off shrimp, corn, and potato in spicy House Sauce ($69). The price was an epic deal when factoring in that the normal Captain's Catch is $65 without lobster tails and the $4 upcharge for head off shrimp. The lobster tails were pre-split to make eating easier, and they were tender and delicious. The Dungeness crabs were an A+ as usual. I much prefer them to the other Captain's Catch option of snow crabs; I got them once and they were glued to the shells and really hard to eat. But the Dungeness is more tasty and I've never had an issue with them. There were a LOT of mussels provided, and they had a good texture. Most had half of the shell already removed, making it easy to dip them in sauce, slurp, and bite the meat right off the shell. The shrimp was great and also came in a good portion. The other main star of the show besides the Dungeness crabs is the House Sauce you can choose for your boil bag. We always get the spicy version and it never disappoints! Savory and deep with some heat. Honestly I dip every single bite of food in the sauce and then wish I could drink the rest. The only downside to this place is that, while its Canton location is great for centrality, it being on busy Boston Street makes pick-up orders difficult. There's not usually any parking available and it's always trafficky there. Inconvenient, but worth it! read more

My friend and I were hanging out at a nearby bar and decided we needed dinner. I hopped on Yelp and found Baltimore Seafood. It was a Tuesday evening around 6 PM and the restaurant was slow. We decided to sit at the bar for dinner and drinks. My favorite thing to eat when I'm in Baltimore is crab. We tried to order the crab cakes and were told they were out. I was so confused as I thought I walked into a place called Baltimore Seafood. When I mentioned this was going into my Yelp review a few minutes later miraculously they had crab cakes. We also ordered the fried shrimp basket. When the crab cakes arrived they looked like salmon patties. They were fried and flat. I lived in Maryland for 20 years and was never served a crab cake in this manner. I expect it in Florida which is why I do not order them in my home state. And they tasted the way they looked.......blah. On a better note the shrimp was tasty and we both loved the sweet potato waffle fries. The fries were like butter melting in your mouth. I stepped away to use the ladies room and when I returned my friend was standing by her seat and told me she was ready to go. Worst seafood boil I ever had! I got it with the house blend sauce spicy. Had no flavor. Only salty. Mushy corn and bland shrimp and crab.

Just an average experience with both food and service. We ordered a couple of items from the happy hour menu, and the Monday special. Coconut shrimp, crab bites, steamed mussels and shrimp, and clam chowder. The quality of the seafood not that fresh. The best dish was the crab bites The clam chowder was watery and had small bits of shrimp. The clam was almost nonexistent. First time having shrimp in a clam chowder. The mussels and shrimp were not the freshest. The seasoning, house special, was so so. The name of this restaurant sums it up and they're the experts of it! The broiled seafood was banging and had the best flavors!!! I got a mix of all the seasoning for my broil and my friend was trying to steal my juice it was so good! I got a huge portion of crab, lobster and shrimp in my bag along with the corn and potatoes. We ordered a side of crab meat fries which had huge chunks of crab mixed in with the French fries and coconut shrimp that was crunchy and delicious. For dessert, I ordered the fried cheesecake. It was my least favorite part of the meal. It was lukewarm and didn't give what I was hoping for. Pretty bland and something I would pass on next time. My daughter treated me out for my Birthday on 8/24 we got there around 6:10 the young lady was very friendly and show us to our set. 20 minutes went pass and no waiter. Had to get up and ask who the waiter for our table. When the young man came everything went down for. It so long to get our sodas and when the food came out he still had an attitude. Happy hour punch was strong enough I only needed 1 and the BBQ wings we ordered for appetizers came quick. For entree 1 we ordered a custom boil n bag with muscles, shrimp and ramen. The waitress suggested we get a sauce combination that was fire (all sauces together). Absolute . Entree 2 was a shrimp po boy & Cajun fries. Finished the fries, seasoning was ridiculous and even though I thought amoroso rolls in Philly were the softest...naaaah this bread melted in my mouth & the sandwich was gone w/ wind like the fries. A rarity...we ordered dessert too! Fried cheesecake that came in the form of cannolis & the taste of whatever heaven tastes like. Only drawback was they already have the tip baked in the bill and 18% wasn't enough. Couldn't remember her name but we put a couple extra dollars in her hand & called it a day. Reserved space for dinner with a dozen relatives. Arrived on time; groups of unoccupied but unclean tables in the room. The "staff" (according to their T-shirts) generally ignored us standing in the foyer for 20 minutes. Finally, after we inquired several times, the "staff" hastily lined up and cleaned several tables for us. Menus in short supply, apparently. Three for us all, plus a few abbreviated readers' digest versions. So the staff gave us a long, long, long time to read and pass them around before taking drink orders. I asked for unsweetened iced tea; received sweet tea with lemon that, I assume, was poured from a can. No other tea choice except tap water. I guess that the "staff" was beginning to remember me as the obstropulous one since they appeared to have no idea who else ordered what other drink. Food orders were eventually taken and then began arriving at the table a hour after we were seated. I was watching the clock by then. I asked for mac-n-cheese and got it; microwaved obviously to warm outside and cold inside. Ate it as is anyway because there was little chance anyone from the staff could have understood past the piped-in head pounding music at volumes set to "stun." I suppose I'd have enjoyed some emotional satisfaction using some choice words, but used good judgment and suffered in silence I could continue, but won't. read more

This place was just as lively and fun on the inside as it looks from the outside. There was all-day happy hour when we went for dinner, so the drinks were a great deal. There's a seafood boil special for each night of the week. We went on a Monday, which was mussels and shrimp. The seafood was well cooked and seasoned nicely by the house sauce (mix of all the sauces). We also had the shrimp po boy. The shrimp was nicely cooked and the sauce was flavorful. A thing about me, I travel for food. I grew up going to Maine for lobster season, Texas for bbq and Viet Cajun seafood boils, etc. I'm the type that sees something online and plan a trip to get that food no matter where it's at. We were visiting Baltimore for my birthday and my original restaurant was farther than we were in the mood to drive so I went online and looked for one with decent reviews and close. Big mistake. As soon as we walked in, customers were in front complaining to the manager, that should've been a sign. Being empty at 5 pm on a Saturday thanksgiving weekend is another sign. I should've trusted my gut but we were hungry and tired and wanted to go home after dinner. The waitress we had was great, she is the only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars. She gave us recommendations, she was sweet and she was funny. We got the calamari and the big catch with snow crab legs, shrimp head off, and crawfish with noodles added. Spicy house blend sauce. The crab legs and shrimp were fine, cooked correct, peeled easily. The crawfish was originally frozen and wasn't cooked with any seasoning. It was completely bland. Speaking of sauce, holy crap sodium. I ended up having to wrap the crawfish tails with some noodles because the crawfish was so bland and the noodles soaked in all of the seasonings aka sodium. We ended up peeling everything and putting it in a to go container so I can doctor the sauce and seafood at home. The calamari appetizer was undercooked. The breading was pale and had no seasoning. I brought that home as well to try to save it. The nail on the coffin was the 18% added gratuity with a suggested tip box percentage and amount underneath it. I believe after Covid, 20% is bare minimum for tip, 25% if it's good, etc. the mere fact that 18% is already added to the bill and they suggested an additional 18%-25% on top is ridiculous. I felt bad for my waitress because I didn't know where that 18% was going to originally so I just added another 7% on top. 2 cocktails, an app, and big catch total was about $99, plus added gratuity $116.82 and than they had the audacity to ask for tip on top of it blew my mind. Suggested totals with tip was a minimum of $133+. I suggest looking elsewhere if you're in the mood for a seafood boil and save the heart attack from the sodium overload. read more

Now for the food, it was really good. The spicy house sauce had a nice little kick to it and was delicious. Great food, but our waitress tried to get over on us by charging our table of 4 for a dessert listed as complementary with what we ordered, and by also trying to charge us with a ~35% tip. I consider myself a good tipper, but to be BM'd like this kinda sucks. If it was just the mistakenly charged dessert, stuff happens. I came for my friend's birthday, and our waiter Anyia was super nice and accommodating for our group of 10! We shared 4 orders of the big catch which was the perfect amount of food. They're open for takeout during quarantine. Ordered the snow crab, clams, mussels, corn with a side of hush puppies. Simply opening the bag, you get blasted with this delicious steamy oceany scent. Their custom spice blend is great, highly recommend ~ some mix of butter old Bay and unknowns. My raw oysters was extremely small I was disappointed about that. Cajun chicken wings were very good can't go wrong with wing dings. Baltimore Seafood is just a really great time. We visited on a Friday during HH and sat at the bar. Our bartender Taylor, AMAZING! She treated us very well. Consistently checking in on us and making conversation. She was running the bar by herself and doing an awesome job juggling the bar patrons while also making drinks for patrons dining in the restaurant. I loved that Baltimore Seafood had a variety of HH options for food, shots, cocktails, and beer. Most establishments these days, especially post 2020 have either scaled back significantly on HH offerings (if they're offering HH at all). They had a bomb playlist as well, setting a really nice tone and vibe to the place. Tia also assisted us and she was personable and fun. I didn't know what to think when I arrived around 7pm on a Tuesday evening and only a couple tables were occupied with one patron at the bar. I was honestly a bit turned off that I also couldn't smell anything good coming from the kitchen, as though they may be closed / closing soon. Thank goodness I didn't let that first impression deter me from enjoying a boooooombbb meal, some tasty sangrias and an overall awesome dining experience. We sat at the bar and noticed it was both very clean and well stocked. I think our bartender's name may have been Mari, but it escapes me at the moment. I know she also is the bar manager, but on this day she was managing things and took great care of us too, LOL. She was so pretty and made a delicious rum punch to compliment an already outstanding personality that really shined throughout our visit. If you go and have her as your bartender, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. On to the eats... We had some family combo that included snow crab, mussels, shrimp, corn on the cob, and potatoes in their house spicy sauce and hunnnnnnyyyyyyy, when I say that seafood boil in a bag was bomb..... I MEAN IT. That thing was finger licking good, came out piping hot, and tasted fresh with no sign of being previously frozen. The kitchen got it perfect and for once.... I did not miss H&J the way I typically do when I visit their competition. Baltimore's got a new gem on their hands, folks. This one is not to be missed!
