Ordered and shared two dishes for takeout. The food was ready in less time than the 15-minute estimate. We had a Papaya salad and a Mixed Vegetable stir fry. The Papaya salad was very good, no complaints. Lots of shredded green Papaya, plenty of grape tomato pieces, green beans, peanuts, etc. all in a delicious (typical) lime-flavored dressing. The Mixed Vegetable dish had a very good selection of veggies, and most were well cooked. A few of the bigger string beans were not edible, though. They needed to be cooked longer (the beans inside were fine, but the pods were way too tough to eat). There was nothing memorable with the brown "house special" sauce. Okay, they were open. Cold interior, sparse and chilly. We had stopped eating here some time ago and now after last night we're were reminded why! The fried potstickers were a little too hard and crispy to chew, the TomKa soup tasted like creamy fish sauce! The table next to us said the Pho was good. If you're in Anacortes (or even Burlington) and craving Thai food then it's a sign to support this little restaurant. They're extremely affordable and very friendly and helpful. The veggies in pad see ew were very fresh and I didn't taste msg - the sauce was mild and flavorful which is in my opinion is much better than greasy sweet sauces in other places. Again, it's fresh and affordable ($13.50 or $11 happy hour) and I can't believe I spent almost $20 on the same dish at one of the places in Burlington and it wasn't even as fresh and the portion was twice as small. We ordered steam dumplings (YUM!), chicken Satay, cucumber salad, and curry katsu. Everything was delicious and fresh. After a quick hike around Washington Park, this really hit the spot on the way out of town. Lots of choices on the menu. The crab delight was their version of crab Rangoon. It was the prettiest presentation I've seen and while it was tasty, especially with the sauce, it's always difficult to tell how much minced crab meat was actually present. The veggies on the Rainbow delight were enhanced by the sweet and sour chili sauce. It was even better when I added a little bit of their chili oil! Super yummy. I am accustomed to Central Thai food that is on the saltier side rather than the Thai food you tend to find in Seattle and northern part of WA that runs on the sweet side. This is much more like the home cooking I grew up with. The family is really sweet and nice. We had pad thai, pad see ew and chicken satay. Chicken was moist and each dish was quite flavorful. The entrance to the restaurant is a bitt confusing cause it's connected to a hotel. Also, there's only 4 parking spots on the side where the restaurant is located, otherwise you have to park across the street or in the hotel parking lot in the back. You can cut through the hotel if you come in on the left side of the building like I did. Other than that though, the service was really good and friendly. I was seated and served right away, didn't have to wait a long time for anything. The food was pretty good. I had the crab delight appetizer, which was delicious! Then I had the steak pho which was also pretty good. They're good size portions at a pretty decent price too. We were greeted by a very friendly woman as soon as we walked in. Even though we showed up probably 15 minutes before they closed she was more than happy to have us order, to go. She even happily answered some questions i had about some decor they have. This is a small place however they had the tables set up so it didn't look cramped. The avacado wrap was good, not much avacado. The veggies were fresh and crisp. It came with a peanut sauce and a sweet and sour, the peanut was so good i didn't even try the sweet and sour. We were thrilled to discover Bamboo Bistro and their over-the-top delicious food. My husband and I lived in Asia for ten years, and I am almost leery when approaching a new Asian restaurant. BUT, we were delighted with this restaurant. It serves all the traditional Thai dishes, and my favorites such as Thai iced coffee and sticky rice with mango. We ordered take out lunch specials to eat on the ferry. My wife had phad see lew with chicken, and I had bamboo chow mein with chicken. Staff is gracious, very friendly. Our order was ready for pickup right on time. I noticed our food ready for us at the kitchen window; the clamshell takeout containers were still open meaning it was freshly cooked. We enjoyed our meals. The chicken was nicely cooked, tender, moist not tough or chewy or dry. My spinach noodles were all dented with a nice sauce and stir fried veggies. My wife's meal included her favorite broccoli which was tender slightly crunchy, bright green, not overcooked or mushy or stringy. We would order from here again definitely. read more

Sadly disappointing. My husband visited here for some Vietnamese cuisine, and after reading reviews, were pretty sure this would be a good spot. Nope. Upon entrance we were greeted with an odd backstory feeling entrance. It was awkward and it was unclear on where to really go. After pushing forward past two halls, a kitchen, a weird window into the kitchen, a curtained off "breakfast" area, and an odd host stand, we found ourselves in the seating area. The host was quick in seating us in one of the eight empty tables (which we found odd since it was prime dinner time). The seating area was very obviously a motel breakfast area that was clumsily disguised as a restaurant. The decor was mismatching and cluttered, the tables were sticky, the chairs were older and uncomfortable, and the view from the long windows that spanned the whole room was of the backside of the motel, and the obviously derelict swimming pool. The temperature in the area was freezing, and there was no music or anything to help with the atmosphere, leaving a very awkward aura in the area. We order drinks and food, which came out quickly enough, though my water tasted of dirty feet, like perhaps it had been sitting in the fridge for a few weeks too long. The Phó bo was fairly good. Hot enough to finish cooking the meat, which is good. But the broth was just...beef broth. Not the wonderfully complex broth that's supposed to be pho. That was disappointing. The noodles, meat, and green onion were just fine. But then came the plate of extras that the host pulled from the fridge that was a bit away from the kitchen. The mung beans were limp, slimy, and the one I tasted was beyond nasty. The peppers were dry, and the limes had suspicious green and blue on them. I got the halibut with roasted veggies and my husband got the duck curry. The duck had a bit more fat than we'd like, but the halibut was cooked perfectly. The veggies and fish went great with Samba Oelek. They put tomatoes and pineapple in with the duck curry that I actually enjoyed having there. It added flavor and some acidity. Came here thinking it would be half decent because of the 4 star reviews... we were a little desperate for some food before we got on the ferry so we tried this place. The "restaurant" seemed to be the old motel breakfast area or something. It felt like a half assed pop up tbh. The lack of service was the biggest disappointment... didn't get water for quite some time, didn't get our orders taken for ages, the whole experience was awkward and like you might as well be a take away shop not sit down. The food was meh, it lacked vegetables and substance ~ worse than any other Asian restaurant I've experienced. Because of the odd pop up experience and mediocre food I wouldn't come here again personally. However, after contacting the restaurant the lady would not stop talking over me that it was impossible to even fully describe the issues. Instead I just kept getting the offer of a free side of rice yelled at me. Food was absolutely bland tasting. I ordered the pad see yew and the vegetables were still partially frozen. They left out multiple items from our order. Such as my wife's pho came with no noodles, literally the staple of the dish.
