Came here thinking it would be half decent because of the 4 star reviews... we were a little desperate for some food before we got on the ferry so we tried this place. The "restaurant" seemed to be the old motel breakfast area or something. It felt like a half assed pop up tbh. The lack of service was the biggest disappointment... didn't get water for quite some time, didn't get our orders taken for ages, the whole experience was awkward and like you might as well be a take away shop not sit down. The food was meh, it lacked vegetables and substance ~ worse than any other Asian restaurant I've experienced. I am not one to leave bad reviews. I instead try to contact the business and give them the opportunity to rectify any issues. However, after contacting the restaurant the lady would not stop talking over me that it was impossible to even fully describe the issues. Instead I just kept getting the offer of a free side of rice yelled at me. Food was absolutely bland tasting. I ordered the pad see yew and the vegetables were still partially frozen. They left out multiple items from our order. Such as my wife's pho came with no noodles, literally the staple of the dish. What a wonderful experience! The folks who operate this restaurant were warm, welcoming, friendly, and engaging. Such kind people. Their service was fast and efficient and the food was beyond delicious. I had their steak pho and a Thai iced tea, as well. Both were so scrumptious. Highly recommend. During the pandemic, Bamboo Bistro was our safe haven for take-out food. And just yesterday, for the first time eating inside a restaurant, Bamboo Bistro was our go-to place. And we even brought guests with us. We aren't exactly vegetarians, but we do limit animal meat. Our guests like chicken ... we like tofu ... and Paula, the owner and chef, is so very capable of accommodating all of us. Pad Thai, Pad See Yew, Pineapple curry rice, and garlic green beans all with your choice of protein foods. Bamboo Bistro is in a very low-key building alongside a motel, but is not owned by the motel. We go for the outstanding meals, and for the friendly and great staff. Yep! FINALLY got my Larb Gai that I've been craving! Everything was great,except the menu stated peppers, which I was assuming was bell, and none. I'm not going to complain because it was still tasty as ever, and was out in like 5 minutes. Next time I'll make sure that they're on there. Not super hungry so we want to choose something light. Vegetable wrap - it says 2 pieces but they cut one wrap into 3pieces so it is more than what you think so. Two different sauces come with the wrap and both are good. Vegetable pad Thai taste pretty authentic according to other Thai restaurants we tried before. Came here and got a spring roll and pho. Spring roll was not actually a spring roll, they're vegetarian egg roll. The pho soup was extremely salty and the noodles were all stuck together so I couldn't pick up anything as they were in tiny pieces. read more

Oh my God, what a wonderful surprise. This food was just wonderful and the service was marvelous. They cannot handle much of a crowd as we had seven people and had to sit at separate tables. Every single one of us loved our meal. 2 of our party are Vegans (I don't get it but they are) and they loved their options also. The place does not look impressive on the outside and I was a bit hesitant but they quickly won me over with warm, friendly service. First time here. We got take out. My husband had the Orange Chicken and really enjoyed it and it was a great portion size. The chicken satay was delicious. I had the chicken Pho. The food was decent but they seem short staffed. We walked in and weren't sure whether to seat ourselves or wait. The guy saw us and waved but walked away. A couple of guys came in after us and asked other customers who confirmed that we seat ourselves. The waiter/cashier/busser didn't seem to understand English very much at all and it was hard to communicate with him. My boyfriend asked for no ice in his soda. So, he brought us both cans of soda and I actually wanted ice. We had to point to the menu when ordering. Then, the two guys who came in after us had to ask for the check five times and waited probably 15-20 minutes to get it. I felt sorry for that poor guy who clearly didn't speak English well and was juggling more than he could handle. read more

We have eaten at Bamboo Bistro several times and have never been disappointed. On a rainy or cloudy day it is a great place for a bowl of hot phō. The dishes are consistently good, the ingredients fresh. Portion sizes are generous and very adequate. It is a mall restaurant yet not claustrophobic and definitely not stuffy, and it can accommodate larger groups. The atmosphere is casual, but dress in layers as it can be rather chilly. Great new spot in Anacortes! My wife and I both started our meal with Thai ice tea. The flavor of the tea was spot on and reasonably priced! We both ordered the Vietnamese steak pho. The broth had a deep flavor and the dish comes with fresh ingredients and sauces to adjust to your heat level. All of their menu items are reasonably priced and the place is quaint with its own peaceful atmosphere. The server was very pleasant as well. After 5 days traveling and eating lots of great seafood, I just had to have some Pho. As it turned out, the Bamboo Bistro was across the street from the B&B I was staying in and I decided to give it a try. Yes, as described in the reviews below, the decor was very basic and the swimming pool out the window was not inviting, but the restaurant was clean and the staff friendly. I went for the chicken pho and was not disappointed. The broth was very tasty with just the right amount of salt, and the bowl was filled with lots of white meat chicken and glass noodles. Fresh sprouts, hot peppers, and basil came along with the pho. I did not try anything else on the menu and can't comment on what else they serve, but I can say that the chicken pho gets a 2 thumbs up from me. read more
