    Pho with chicken
    Robert M.

I have never had Pho or any other Vietnamese dishes before and Oak Harbor had its first Vietnamese restaurant open a few weeks ago. So I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Chicken Pho and also Chicken Bahn Mi. I was very pleased with my order and thoroughly enjoyed my lunch at Trinh's Corner on SR 20 in Oak Harbor. The pho was awesome, and this from someone that typically does not like soups. The light broth was tasty and the chicken was tender. The owner came by my table and welcomed me to his restaurant. I told him that I had never had Vietnamese food before. He told me that typically the diner would dip the chicken slices (or whatever protein) in a mix of sriracha and hoisin sauce. But he cautioned that it would be spicy. I assured him that I love spicy and proceeded to take his advice! The bahn mi was also incredibly yummy. While the pho had slices of chicken the bahn mi had cubes of chicken, as well as slices of cucumber, carrot, onion, and jalapeno, with spring onion and cilantro. The restaurant was very clean, bright, and airy. The staff is friendly, polite, and helpful.

Husband & I loved the food & everything! This place definitely has some potential & we see it being open for a long time. Most of the items were out because they're still fully opening up but with what we tried, we're definitely coming back

house special pho, brisket pho (2), fresh spring roll with peanut sauce

Trihn's Corner is definitely a wonderful addition to Oak Harbor! Very clean inside and you can tell the indoor decor and details were a labor of love. The pho was outstanding! Any time I get pho (my fav meal on a rainy day much like today), brisket pho is my go-to and they delivered it with great flavor and hearty broth. All ingredients taste very fresh. Speaking of fresh, their fresh spring roll was packed with fresh tasting lettuce, cucumber, and shrimp. The peanut sauce on the side made it that much more enjoyable. At the end of the meal, I ordered the ube cold foam coffee and was very satisfied with the flavor and texture. Growing up with ube flavored foods, this coffee really reminded me of my cultural roots. Will definitely become a regular here and can't wait to keep coming back!

Amazing bahn mi!!!! Perfect soft bread with crust. Delish pate. And the peanut sauce for the spring rolls I could drink straight.

So we decided to scope it out, and once we got inside we were blown away! The employee at the counter said they only have one coffee (iced Vietnamese) but lots of good mocktails and beverages in the cooler. Friendly and honest! We peeped the cooler and it was full of super interesting drinks. And indeed, the mocktail menu was great. Zests and tonics and coolers and sparklers. Next to the cooler is a small retail area with an eclectic and very smart selection of curated goods, including: chili crisp; tinned fish; griddle pans; handmade Easter fudge; books about auras and autism and edibles and pizza; ultra soft scarves; Rap Snacks ramen; and lunar phase art pieces. But even more impressive than all of that is the food. Among our group of cousins etc, we ordered both banh mi sandwiches, the meatloaf sandwich, the bulgogi cheesesteak sandwich, the banh mi fries, and the chicken pho. Plus the Vietnamese iced coffee and one cocktail (Sunset Spritz). Without exception, they were delicious! My favorite was the meatloaf sandwich, which came on perfectly-griddled pillowy sourdough, and had a great balance of sweet-tangy masaman glaze, mayo, and kimchee pimento cheese. Probably the best meatloaf sandwich I've ever had, in a little corner cafe in Freeland, WA!

I found this " vegetable and tofu" roll the most bland I've had. No herb, sauce , crunch.... I am a fresh roll lover, so a little discerning, but this was truly flavorless. Tofu, rice noodles, leaf lettuce and rice paper. Thats it. Like eating a carrier for too little peanut sauce. The pho was filling and came with a plate of bean sprouts referred to as "the vegetables" . The Vietnamese coffee was tasty but presentation awkward. It came as Condensed milk in a cup with a pour- over atop this and the separate glass of ice. I'm no expert in this ritual but I am accustomed to having the milk cold in the ice and the brewed coffee in a spouted vessel for easy pouring into the iced milk. Here we had to mix the brewed coffee, then add it dribbling and spilling to the ice. No big deal but awkward. It tasted good. The prices were reasonable and parking a lot shared with the strip mall . Not within the restaurant's control , but in circling for a spot around one lane, I was nearly backed into by not 2 not 3 but 4 cars. I think I recall a cannabis shop being in the mall or nearby. This may explain that. The service was friendly throughout. The place was empty but the time was odd. I don't think we'd return based upon the fresh rolls alone.

I ordered #31, thought the broth was a bit bland but perhaps I've just been spoiled by Vancouver (BC) pho spots. It was quite busy the whole time we were there and it's clear they have a dedicated following. Generous with their bean sprout quantity. A random thing to note is their washroom doesn't have a bag/jacket hook so hopefully you have a friend that can hold onto your stuff while you use the gender neutral washroom, or better yet, plan your visit before you leave your table.

The restaurant itself is small but spotless and clean. * Spring rolls were huge. The lettuce ratio wasn't super high but still good enough. 4/5 * Pork bánh mì was delicious. 5/5 * Pho had depth and flavor. Something about it tasted slightly off to me, but it still satisfied my craving. 4/5 * Prices were reasonable: the bánh mì was under $10 and the large pho was under $15. It was the service that really threw us off. We don't expect much service at pho places, but this was odd enough that it's worth mentioning. There were two young staff members working who clearly seemed like they didn't want to be there and almost didn't want people coming in. The guy brought us utensils and pho garnishes but no water. At least he had a smile. The girl, on the other hand, had this very guarded, "ready to fight" expression. When I went up to ask for a box, they both froze and looked at me like I was asking for the world. She didn't smile and barely made eye contact. When it was time to pay, we weren't sure what to do so we just went up to the front. She didn't look at us once, and there was no "thank you" or "have a good day." The whole interaction really weirded us out. * Food: 4/5 * Service: 1/5 That said, if we were in the area and wanted pho again, we'd reluctantly go back for the food.
