My husband and I have been getting Bamboo Garden since before we got married. They have never once disappointed. We have ordered take out in the restaurant, called for pick up, and ordered door dash, all multiple times. Every single time they ensure accuracy of every single item, and it's always delicious. When we order in store, we sit for maximum 15 minutes (we order a big spread and share) and they always bring it directly up to us. First time here. Ordered take out. Staff is friendly. Fast prep. We ordered several different entrees. Some were a bit bland, but not bad. Just meh. Sweet and sour sauce was almost water. Two things that concerned me and ruined my experience were one of the employees in the dining area coughing violently without covering up. The restaurant approved clean and had a nice ambience otherwise. Second problem, the Kung Pao chicken smelled fishy. Like, REALLY fishy. While it's not unheard of to dash just a little fish sauce in Kung Pao to add umami, this smelled and tasted of fish. Everyone in the house commented on it. Never encountered anything like it, anywhere. Not sure if this is a signature flavor for this place or they did up some shrimp dish just before the Kung Pao chicken (also concerning). My mom just came from the emergency room and ordered some some Chinese food that we picked up. We get it back home. There's absolutely no rice in there and their solution is for me to come over get it myself and they'll give me free egg rolls and that's all they can do. After spending the whole day at the hospital and I'm hungry and tired. I have to get back in the car to drive over here to get something as basic as rice. They charge $20 for the food and didn't even give me half of it.! The management has changed at this place. It used to be great. I came here during the COVID-19 outbreak when nearly every other business was closed. These lovely workers were open and had a great protocol for contact-less service. The man up front was running the phones and customers all by himself- phones ringing every 20 seconds and a new person in the door every few minutes. He managed to get me my order by the time he quoted and did it with a smile I do give it 4/5 only because the food was not quite 5 star worthy. It was good Chinese food, similar to most others. I said as long as it's mild, not medium not Spicy he said ok mild my husband went to pick it up and we ate two bites and couldn't eat any more and we both eat spicy food. This food was so Spicy it was not mild nor medium or hot it was extra spicy. We literally couldn't eat more than two bites. Eaten here many times. Used to really like it. On our last visit the snow peas had a black spots all over it. We had taken our food to go and called back and the manager believed that the snow peas were safe to eat. I googled this and found that this caused by a blight to the plant. The food was extremely bland and the food had a very bad odor which transferred to the taste of the food. I'm not sure what changed in the last week, but I can assure you it was a mistake. I eyeballed Bamboo Garden for about a week before I called to see if they deliver...which they do so score for that. I admit, I LOVE Chinese take out/delivery so I was very excited as a new resident to Peyton. So definite stars for delivery. And the food..meh. I ordered cheese wontons which would have been excellent...if they had any cheese or crab meat in them. The skimpiness of the cream cheese was ridiculous. And..I would have been sure there was no crab whatsoever if I hadn't used my microscope (ok..just kidding..) to spy one small fake crab piece. Pork fried rice was plentiful but incredibly bland. I have never, ever had such tasteless pork. The rice was pretty plain and flavorless as well but full of veggies and I thought the sprouts were a very nice touch that added a lot of flavor to the dish. Finally, I ordered roast duck. I make my own roast duck from time to time (a 4+ hour affair to make sure the skin gets nice and crispy) so I have really high duck standards.. It was OK. The meat was tender but I found their flavoring to be a bit off. Kind of bitter and overpowering to the duck taste. Bottom line: Not really worth the money. I would probably give them a second chance if I was too tired to cook (or drive to a take out place in Colorado Springs) and if I was really craving Chinese food. This was the first time I had been here because I usually stick to one place in particular for my chinese food. I ordered the veggie lo mein which came with fried rice and a very non vegetarian egg roll. The lo mein was decent...a little plain tasting. The rice was really dry though and the egg roll just was not my cup of tea. It tasted old and was also dry. However, I will say that the service was great.
