We were there on Saturday, our third visit. I order the Pho, with beef etc, expecting to get the broth and noodles with very thinly slice, uncooked beef to add to the broth. What I received had chunks of what can only be described as pot roast, already in the broth, very disappointing and not that good. Hubbies dinner was not as hot as it should have been. We tried this place one night 6 months ago and have been going back often ever since. Service is very prompt and friendly. We have tried a number of dishes they serve but I now always order the Pad Thai. The owner showed me one night how to cook the sprouts by rolling them under the noodles to better enjoy it. I have been hooked like it's an illegal substance and I'm never joining a 12 step program to stop. The vegetables, noodles and unique taste of the peanuts and lime and little bit of spice is just incredible. I have had Pad Thai many places but never enjoyed it as much as this. You can get it level 3, level 2 or level 1 hot. Level 1 is hot enough for me. We like to come here to date night once a week and my wife always gets the sushi. We love salmon and tuna sushi. It's always been satisfying. I saw that another reviewer rated them very poorly for service. That has not been our experience ever. But I don't feel it's right to ruin their 5 star rating because you claim they didn't notice you and had to walk out? Come on man. This is one of the top 2 places to eat in Bonham and food and service are both top notch. If you go there long enough you will meet the owners/ operators and they are very kind, attentive and always there during business hours smiling and greeting their customers and ensuring business runs smoothly. As a business owner I know how hard this can be and we will continue to go here for date night to enjoy the small town atmosphere where almost everyone knows everyone and there are lots of smiles and friends. Simply amazing. Bonham is a very small town, one you most likely wouldn't think of when considering a good place to get sushi. But have I got news for you!! The warrior roll sets the standard, with spicy tuna that melts in your mouth, and a freshness that makes you wonder "HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE??" Now, I love Chinese cuisine, but I've found a lot of places that have sweet and sour sauce that tastes like watered down ketchup. I'm not a fan of this flavor. Bamboo House makes their sweet and sour fresh daily from real oranges, and believe me when I say it, you can taste them. The citrus zest makes unbelievably good orange chicken too, for those that want a little truth in their flavor. I've also tried the chicken lo mein, with extra cabbage, and I have yet to be disappointed in even the slightest way. The staff is always friendly, the prices are excellent, and this restaurant as a whole has my vote for Bonhams' most valuable hidden gem. We really like Asain/American food. That said the quality varies greatly from place to place. Im not sure whether I would classify this as Thia, Hong Kong, Mandarin or what other than UNBELIEVABLY GOOD. Seriously the food and the service is wonderful. Its not a buffet, like most typical Chinese food joints and what they have on the menu is not necessarily as varied as you might get with a buffet, but hey . . . Im telling you that what they have is GOOD. AND they do have a very good selection of things to dine on. My fav is the combination fried rice with chicken, beef and shrimp, peas, carrots and egg. Sure wish this oriental food restaurant was in my home town. We had lunch there today for the first time. I wanted something a bit spicy so ordered the Kung Pao Chicken despite a couple reviews that said it wasn't spicy enough. The waitress asked what level of spice "1,2,or 3." I chose 2. It was perfect -- with very lingering heat with every bite. And the sauce was so wonderfully rich that I was moaning out loud. Another's wrote that this dish was heavy on the green peppers and onions. My generous lunch portion had a very nice balance of these vegetables and lots of chicken. Told the cashier it was underpriced because of the quality and authentic flavors. Husband had Pad Thai which he favors and he was extremely pleased with their version. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the Jasmine tea which was quite tepid. So I exchanged for iced tea -- very nicely brewed with excellent flavor. read more

Went at 7:00 on a Friday night. Busy place. Roomie and well lit. Edamame was cooked well. The Hot and Sour soup was spicy but not too much, lots of flavor. I had the Ying Yang roll and it was fresh and very tasty. Great having a little gem like this close by. Well worth our 45 minute drive. The Sushi places in Plano and Allen need to take a lesson from Bamboo House in Bonham. Their sushi is so fresh. When you order the Sashimi it is served over a bed of ice and so clean tasting. You may be surprised to learn that small-town Texas can offer such good Asian fare across the board. The fish is fresh and of comparable quality to Dallas-area Japanese venues (trust me, I'm a sushi snob who has lived and traveled extensively in Japan). While the raw bar offerings are limited in scope compared to a dedicated sushi restaurant, the tuna and salmon is high quality. Vietnamese vermicelli bowl with grilled pork was delicious and satisfying (even though I prefer my rice noodles slightly chilled). On both of our visits here from nearby Sherman, my husband enjoyed the pepper steak. The servers are friendly and the ambience is comfortable.
