Good food. But the male waiter is ridiculous. I tried to order sushi from him and he had no idea what the difference between sushi, sashimi, and maki was. Then when I went to pay the cashier didn't know how to ring up the sushi. I underpaid fortunately (I think). You need to educate your staff on your sushi menu, not just "number 12". read more

I've been here over a handful of times. I've dined in once and it wasn't too bad, but I usually order carry out which is no more then a 20 min wait. Not too long ago, my boyfriend and I decided to stop by before class, which wasn't for another hour, worst experience there. as we sat down we were hastily handed menus, and that was it.. That was it, we literally sat there for 20 minutes and no one approached us to take our order. Not only were we the only customers at the time, but 5 people were in the back doing food prep, one person even stood there for 5 minutes starring at the TV. What really made me mad was the fact that an older couple walked in and they were quickly assisted. We left without saying a word. We still go back since that is the only bad experience we've had, but we only order for pickup. read more

Today, at work, I ordered lunch from the highest rated Thai place in Ocean County. I was disappointed. The flavor could not even even touch Bamboo House. We have a local gem. There is love in this food. Beef Penang is amazing. So are the spring rolls, pad Thai, prad prik king, and the chicken satay. I've never had a bad meal. Looking forward to trying some more traditional dishes/soups next time we order. read more

The very definition of hole in the wall, decidedly a family affair, and perhaps the only Thai restaurant in Cookstown, Bamboo House is the serviceable workhorse when you have a oyster sauce itch that needs to be scratched. Although it's billed as a Thai and Japanese restaurant, the menu clearly leans more towards the former, and it comes across in the cooking, too: gyoza on a recent visit were a little too chewy and the filling a little too little, whereas the pad woon sen on special was a savory stir fry of meat, vegetables, and glass noodles that did a much more effective job of hitting the spot. Sit at the little makeshift bar for even a little bit and you can see how much effort Bamboo House puts into the dishes they make, eager to serve the swarms of people that come through the door. read more

This place probably has the best Thai food I ever had. They have a great menu and very good prices. I love the spicy chicken fried rice with vegetables. It's also family owned and the family are very friendly. Just be advised during the weekends this place for lunch gets packed up. read more

Portion is a little deceiving. Ordered a red curry beef and the portion of beef to bamboo shoot is about 25-40%. Even with their soup, my order had about 5 shrimps! Their curry was ok, it was soupy and not the thick sauce you'd expect from a curry. read more

The food is really good and it's so close to the base. I'm taking a star off for long wait times during lunch break (most times) and because they rarely answer their phone. The staff there is really friendly and they always produce great quality food. My favorite dish is the vegetable friend rice and the spring rolls. I have tried the miso soup, pad Thai, and gyoza. I've returned with a little more info...The chef/owner's name is Anne and she is a whiz at the wok. She's from Thailand and although that is her specialty, she also whips up great sushi rolls. Every dish I've had has been yummylicous. The spring rolls have chicken and beff and are light, not too greasy and heavenly...they come w/ a chili sauce that sends them over the top. The Gang-Ped (red curry) has ther perfect combo of coconut milk and spice. The Pad-Prik-King is served with green beans and peanuts and kust the right amount of heat and creaminess to make it the best meal I've had outside of my trip to Thailand. This little gem is what I will miss when we move from the area. read more

This is my go to for real, authentic Asian food. First of all, they have the best Thai tea I have ever had. It's so delicious and creamy..I can't get enough of it! This is a mom and pop establishment the current owners were former cooks who worked there and bought the restaurant from the previous owner who had to move back to Hawaii due to a family emergency. I don't care about atmosphere so it didn't bug me that you eat in the back of the store, in fact i kind of like 'odd' places like that, but i tasted everyone's dish it it was all 'ok'..and think 5 stars is waaay generous for people to give. Sure they are nice, so the 3stars is not for that. Pad thai was a bit overcooked, the chicken dishes were 'ok' but i got it bc it said it came with a cucumber salad...which literally was the size of the saucer you put an espresso cup, not kidding that was it, so FYI don't bet on a side salad...I thought the salad was actually better than the dish, but way to little of it. The edammame (never spell it right) was good , and yes I have had it places that it is not so good, and it was funny to see him walk to the freezer in the store and pull it out...but at least we know where to find it in the store! read more

This is a place where you should not "judge a book by its cover". On the front entrance is a small grocery store, and the seating for the restaurant is in the back. It is small and very casual. The service is great, nothing fancy, just good people and good food. You definitely get your money's worth for the food. They have limited sushi, but it is good and the portions are huge. We ordered pad thai, salmon maki, shrimp tempura roll and California roll and could only finish a little more than half. The pad thai is delicious and made just right. The cooks are middle age (Thai I believe) ladies so you know it will be good. read more

Great food but the service is not the best. Sometimes you won't get someone to wait on you for a half hour and the expectation is to go to the counter then other times they come right to you. They often forget your drink order and meals often come out staggered. Often our party has all eaten when one member of the party is just getting served. We joke who is going to be the last served.
