Meh. This review is only for the sushi which is nothing special. It's generic and basic and similar to the quality fish as the all you can eat places. I was leaning towards 2 stars but decided on 3 because my order was correct and the food wasn't bad per se. We ordered a medium sushi boat that consists of your choice of any 2 special rolls and 4 regular rolls. We also ordered the sushi and sashimi deluxe, a sweet potato roll, a cucumber and asparagus roll, and the triple spicy roll combo. The rolls were nothing special at all and actually quite small and inconsistent in the fish to rice ratio. The sashimi was fresh and the cuts were thick. The spicy rolls were filled with a lot of "crunch" which is really just panko breadcrumbs and I didn't care for them at all. The sweet potato roll was tempura style and was decent. Unfortunately, If you're in search of great sushi in central Jersey like me this is yet another place to skip.

This place is on Corona lockdown, no contact. They place your takeout bag behind plastic curtain on right side.

These guys are still on Covid lockdown. No contact pick up, no dine in. That was fine with me, I was craving sushi and had wanted to try this place for some time. I ordered chicken lomein and the best choice roll to test the versatility of the kitchen. The sushi part was better. The lomein was ok, pale in color but a huge portion. The white meat chicken had a strange coating, a thin oily or fatty layer. I was debating if this was intentional or by mistake. The texture of the meat was fine, but I can't quite place what this was??? I actually ordered it so I could mix with asparagus I had just roasted, once combined and with chili oil added this was good. By itself I'd say it was bland. The specialty roll was better. This is a take on shrimp tempura roll with cucumber inside and Kani on top. I normally avoid fake crab but liked it on this roll. The rice was perfect and rolls held up easily. I'd get again or branch out to others. The shopping center has an odd layout, parking is in the rear and all other businesses here have back doors. But for best choice you have to walk around to the front. There are a few patio tables to eat your takeout. I think frequent shoppers just pull up to side of the business closer to the road. At this point I'm willing to say it's a decent choice but maybe not best choice?

Absolutely amazing sushi! We ordered three rolls for two people and they were large and full of fish. The service was attentive and very fast. We also ordered spring rolls and they came out piping hot and delicious. We dined in and had no problem getting a table. It seems they do a lot of takeout orders (good to know for future). The booth was cozy and clean. This is a great spot and we will definitely be back!

I cut up like 90% of the "chicken" pieces and none of them were chicken, literally just bread.

General Tso "Chicken" more like GENERAL TSO BREAD!! I ordered General Tso Chicken with my coworkers and I am very disappointed w the meal. I started out w the 1st two bites noticing that each piece were kind of spongy. I figured it was breading. But then the more I ate it WAITING for a real piece of chicken, it never came. I cut open every piece to see wth is going on. Now, I can see like a piece here and there being made of bread, but literally EVERY PIECE WAS JUST COATED BREADING! I didn't even finish the dish. Im giving 2 stars bc the rice was ok and the sauce is good. But cmon, being cheap with the chicken is going a little too far. I am not ordering from this place again. I posted pics, feel free to zoom in and look at all of the bread.

My number one sushi place for the past 16 years. I drive 10-15 minutes one way to pick up the food because it's that good. Great ambiance :)

The hibachi and sushi and good, especially for the price. We've only ever had takeout, but it's a go-to.

Sakana typically pumps out the orders quickly but the last 2 visits they seemed to be extremely slow and missing many items in the orders making it difficult to determine how much to order when we have a large group. The restaurant was busy on a Tuesday night so perhaps that's the reason for the slow service. We ended up being there for 3 hours. Overall, this place is the best bang for your buck when it comes to quality and quantity.

This place is small and intimate with only 8 sushi bar seats and 8 table seats. A great vibe and ambiance to watch your sushi chef expertly prepare your meal. Unfortunately, a couple decided to bring their small children that were talking very loudly and had occasional screams. There is a place and time to bring your kids dining and fine dining isn't one of them. Our favorite appetizer was the chanwanmushi! They packed so much umami into such a small dish and the texture of the egg was like silken tofu. My husbands favorite piece of nigiri was the otoro as the tuna was so fatty and just melted in your mouth. Mine was the uni spoon which was a small dish of uni, ikura, caviar, and rice. The hand rolls were a highlight too! After the 6 courses are done you're able to order ala carte and I'm so glad I got an ikura hand roll. Service is impeccable and everyone was very kind and thoughtful. Overall a great experience and an omakase spot we would come back to.

All of the above were true, and the food was quite good too. Each of us got a lunch special w/ Thai Basil Beef, and it was a good dish. Service is pretty fast and friendly; the waiter switched our soup orders by accident, but when he came back to bring more stuff, he noticed when we had switched them, which I give him some credit for. Everything is nice and fast, no issues there. Inside, it's a pretty good amount of space, and nice decoration throughout. Thus, while service was reasonable, a person shouldn't assume anything about anyone: not these days, nor any era. To give each customer the benefit of doubt is the most basic of refined manners. The food, however, is well prepared and fresh in quality. The restaurant does seem to cater towards a more elderly audience based on the presentation styles and music choices. While the vegetables and shrimp dishes were clearly fused from different cultures to some extent, the fried rice might have had a bit too much salt as diabetes is on the rise these days--so we tend to choose lighter salt in meals. The pricing could also be more reasonable for simple and traditional choices.
