We went to here a few times in the past and it wasn't anything special. The sushi had some decent flavor but it also tasted a little funky at times too. There were times where the rice was either too sticky or it seemed kind of old to be used for the sushi. The fish as well had the same problem where it just didn't have a good taste to it either. Make it worse, the prices made it more frustrating as the prices didn't seem to match the amount of what we were paying. They seemed to give us less sushi than what we expected because they put stuff on there that shouldn't be there or that takes up extra space. The inside is nice and clean but the food is just the biggest downfall here. There are better, more reasonable, and better sushi places out there around the state and other towns. read more

The sushi here is truly the best you'll find around. I have gone to many sushi places and Yummy Sushi has the freshest tasting sushi. Other places always have a weird off putting taste or even slightly fishy. They are also very generous with the amount they put in each sushi roll. The California roll here gives such a big chunk of kani in each piece it's outstanding. Yummy sushi also has great chicken dishes. The food here is a notch above most Chinese restaurants. It's very elegant and clean inside. This could also be a cute date spot if you're feeling Chinese. Their garden salad ginger dressing is absolutely delicious and sometimes I come here just because I'm craving their salad. The staff are friendly here as well. Takeout : The service was great but the food was not good. I ordered the teriyaki salmon. The salmon was a very thin fillet , overly salted and was over cooked and fishy tasting. Grabbed dinner from here today and it was OK. Inside, it was pretty crowded with a lot of people waiting for their food, but they still managed to give me my order pretty much on time, so I was pretty happy with that. I got two basic rolls and the price point was decent for the amount of sushi I got. The quality of the sushi was not bad but nothing special - the fish was a little grainy and it didn't taste amazing. I have been to Yummy about 5 times now (a mix of dine in and take away). The restaurant is clean and bright. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. The soup and salad selections - including the Yummy Salad, Kani Salad, and Seaweed Salad -- are a plus. With regard to the sushi, I have only had rolls so cannot comment on the traditional sushi or sashimi but the rolls have been consistently tasty and interesting. With regard to the other menu items -- the chicken katsu was mediocre. Nothing wrong with it per se but the portion was on the smaller side for the price and could benefit from additional seasoning. I had a similar experience with the chicken pad thai -- solid but otherwise unremarkable. As far as neighborhood sushi spots in the burbs go, Yummy is fits the bill very nicely. read more

Everything was great from the moment we walked in. Properly greeted and seated. A young man was very gracious and attentive to water and drinks needs. We ordered and food came quickly and very fresh. Rock shrimp, gyoza and sushi were all fresh and delicious. Entrees we're enjoyed as well with some ramen and more sushi. I live right down the street from here and it's an absolute joy to go to. The staff as mentioned is very friendly, the environment is pleasant and the food is great. Poor customer service. I called several times and the person answering the phone asked me to wait a minute. She then put the phone on the counter for just under ten minutes I had to listen to her take other orders, talk to other employees, and engage in regular conversation. She never picked the phone back up to take my order so I hung up. She did not call me back. My first cousin Jennifer is a fantasic home cook and I take her food opinion in high regard so when she mentioned Yummy Sushi as her go to my sushi we had to give it a try. She wasn't wrong! We ordered the gyoza to start and it wasn't bad. We each ordered 3 different types of sushi rolls, after trying one piece it was evident that the food was not fresh. This intimate little BYOB right along Route 33 isn't going to knock you socks off, but it's certainly not bad, either. Despite sushi being their namesake cuisine, the sushi menu is somewhat limited, and serving sizes are small for the price. They do have a sushi bar right out in the dining area with seating available. As with humans in general, some of the chefs are more personable and engaging than others, which can lead to sitting here being a fun and interactive experience, or a long and slightly awkward one depending on the luck of the draw. Most of the rice dishes are also small, and are plated somewhat strangely with what appears to be an ice cream scoop. I am normally a huge fan of pineapple fried rice, but Yummy's version was lacking in both flavor and value considering the $9.95 price tag. Most recently, I ordered Nebeyaki Udonto to go, and it was a wise choice. Having previously had and enjoyed Yaki Soba and a Yaki Udon dish, I would say that the noodle dishes are probably the way to go. All in all nothing terrible here, but nothing to write home about, either. You can usually get a seat with at most a 5-10 minute wait even during the weekends, so it can serve as a nice fallback option if in the area. I'll most certainly dine there again in the future, but probably only when I don't feel like waiting somewhere else to eat. read more

First time there. Got the Grand Mariner with Candied Walnuts and Prawns and the mixed vegetable dish. Both were exceptional, putting our favorite Chinese restaurants to shame. The Prawns were large, not exceptionally, but too many places serve them much smaller. The candied nuts and pineapple were cold, but still went well with the prawns. The vegetable dish was listed as as with chicken or beef or shrimp, but when we asked they served it alone with a very tasty brown sauce that looked like garlic sauce, but was not. I'm giving this 4-stars, but the points off have nothing to do with the actual food. We came on a Monday night, the service was pretty slow, but that's neither here nor there. The point off from what I said before about it being very americanized sushi - More than 1/2 the rolls are "spicy" or have "crab/lobster salad" which means a mayonnaise-based-sauce. I cannot palate any of that - my belief is that sushi should be clean, fresh, and not fried*. So I was disappointed to see the special rolls were mostly of that kind. They did have individual pieces of sushi you could order (yellow tail roll for about $3-$4 per PIECE, not per roll), but that seemed like a waste. *This is totally a personal opinion - I get that! Overall the place is adorable, its BYOB, and decorations are minimal yet fun. You can sit at the sushi bar and watch them make it - which I always find fun! read more

Yummy sushi is right! We stopped in here randomly because we went to get pizza next door and it was insane on Mother's Day. I'm so glad we did! Clean space with high ceilings and pretty decor. Special board in front. Water and drink orders taken immediately. Server was really friendly even wished me a happy Mother's Day. I started with the Tom Yum soup with shrimp.... Soo good. They made it perfect. My husband had the hot & sour soup which he liked. My 8 year old finished that off. Edamame was finished by kids before I had a chance to try. Kids split the chicken tempura app which had tempura chicken, sweet potato slices & broccoli. My husband had the General Tso chicken which was delish ( because I picked off his plate). General can be over-fried sometimes but this was lightly breaded and cooked perfectly. The sauce was sweet and spicy Ooey gooeyness. I had the Hatuna Matata roll which was also divine. Very fresh. I have nothing bad to say about this place, they just didn't earn 5 stars in my opinion because of their sushi. Don't get me wrong the food is great but I'm comparing it to places I've been before. While their presentation of some of their sushi is super cool, sometimes their sushi is up to par. I've been here a couple times before with my dad and sister and I've ordered more then just sushi. The chicken teriyaki was good and no one can really mess up a California roll. The coconut shrimp was awesome, came with some spicy dipping sauce we all enjoyed. The service is good and everyone is friendly, like I said the 3 stars is based just on the sushi, they have unique rolls and some you will see on other menus. Where generally good quality food the accuracy of what you order versus what you get is a problem. There is no way to easily check what you get while standing there (especially in inclement weather) so you end up getting home with wrong or completely missing items that you had been charged. read more

This place is CHEATING people. They have a menu and prices on the menu are not what they are charging you. In some cases, what they actually charge is is 2x what is on the menu. When you inform the manager that this is FALSE ADVERTISING/BAIT-N-SWITCH, she then says that she does not care. Prices on the menu is not what they are going to charge you. For example, Salmon Roe on the menu is $5, based on which you place an order. I ordered 2 orders. Then when you get the bill, it's $9 x2 versus the $5 x 2, per the menu and the advertised price. The place does not seem to understand that this is FRAUD and cheating people by listing one price based on which you buy and then when you get the bill charging you something significantly different. read more

As we were eating, I kept saying wow this sushi is Yummy! For an app we had the Thai basil roll, which was delicious and refreshing! We also ordered the peanut avocado, route 33 and fantasy roll. Each tasted fresh and had a unique flavor. Service was on point even though there was only 1 person managing multiple tables, the phone, and the food/ clean up. Great job! We will definitely return!
