We ordered the Peking Duck (of course), the basil eggplant and basil chicken. Everything had such nice clean flavors that really hit the spot after a long day on the road. The portions are VERY substantial and reasonably priced. Tracy took our order and was very efficient. I enjoyed seeing the Peking Ducks hanging in the fire behind the counter. It is a very impressive display. I would definitely return and try some more of their delicious food.
IYKYK - this is probably the best Peking Duck I've had in Houston in a long time. I've done Peking Cuisine for years and shifted to Arco for my duck cravings, but if you're willing to drive out to Humble (pretty much anytime you're in the IAH area), you gotta check out Bamboo House for the best Peking duck. And their other menu items are fire as well! We went on a Sunday late evening. We had a 9 pm airport pickup at IAH so it was a perfect opportunity to grab a spectacular dinner and make the 30+ minute drive out to IAH totally worth it. Parking lot wasn't too full so that wasn't an issue. While the neighborhood ain't River Oaks luxury, it ain't too scary either. We kept it simple - ordered a whole duck and Bamboo House Special Noodle with Beef. This place ain't cheap but the food is worth every penny. It was very busy that evening so it's not a well-kept secret but also proves that eventually, Houstonians will figure out where the good food is. The duck was near perfect. They serve the duck with the pancakes (as opposed to the buns like at Arco) which is my preference. The soup that comes with it was also extremely flavorful. And the house special noodles with beef - oh my. I swear it's just one really long noodle so you may be frustrated trying to divvy up the family style bowl, but the labor is worth it. So good... Can't wait for my next airport run so I can sneak in a lunch or dinner at this place. So many other menu items I want to try!
If you are looking for the best Peking duck, look no further! Who would have expected to find the best Peking duck in Humble? I had previously visited the now closed Bamboo House on Westheimer and I remember being impressed by the food. I had to make an airport run and decided that it would be perfect timing to stop by this location. I highly recommend ordering the duck ahead of time, but we were lucky enough to snag one of the last ducks when we arrived around 7 pm on a Sunday evening. The waitress was super friendly and upbeat and the restaurant is older but well maintained. You can see where the food is being prepared/cooked and you can see ducks being cooked/warmed behind a glass window. The duck was absolutely spectacular with the perfect seasoned and tender meat accompanied by well rendered crispy skin. I love how the pancakes are paper thin and pair well with the scrumptious duck and other toppings. They also provide sugar and plum sauce as additional toppings which I thought was interesting but not my cup of tea. The duck soup was extremely flavorful and full bodied and went well with the duck. The noodles were also amazing with likely hand pulled noodles served with an abundance of tender beef and vegetables with a little Sichuan kick. I was intrigued by a strawberry chicken dish that I saw on the menu and I plan to try it the time. My diagnosis: hands down the best Peking duck in the greater Houston area!
I've eaten at Bamboo House enough times to know that the food can be a hit or miss depending on the night. When it's done right, the flavors are bold and satisfying. But the inconsistency has been an issue for me, and the flavors aren't as good as they once were. Dishes I regularly ordered like Kung Pao Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Japanese Egg Tofu, and Honey Walnut Shrimp haven't stood out as much as of lately. Dishes like Szechuan Spicy Chicken is still one of my favorite, and Garlic Snow Pea Leaves are delicious when in season. Bamboo House still holds its place as great spot for group dining. The portion is generous, prices are fair, and overall a solid restaurant that's still worth recommending.
Humble is the last place I expected Houston's best Peking duck option to be and at a Sichuan based restaurant (#1) no less. Bamboo House (竹苑) has become a Texas based Peking Duck specialty establishment with locations in Austin, Dallas, and here in Humble. Unlike its ambitious seafood based sister location (#2) that closed last year, this one stays true to what it does best: crispy, glistening, and pricey Peking duck. Given it's proximity to IAH, it's not uncommon for folks to show up with luggage as they're likely going to / coming from the airport with duck on their minds. The dedicated parking lot (#3) is not uncommon in these parts but due to its popularity, a wait most always is. The weekend crowds can easily command 45 min-1 hour waits, so a weeknight might be one's best bet to avoid the rush. Seating options aren't as spacious as it looks from the outside, but there are plenty of large parties that find a spot. Any spot in view of the open window display of the duck preparation is my preferred spot. The servers vary from Chinese-only folks to Spanish-English-friendly staff to accommodate the area's large Latino population. That's Houston in a nutshell. While Peking Duck originates from the north of China, the majority of their menu focuses on Sichuan, a fiery cuisine that has emerged as in all parts of the country but especially in Houston. Like many vestile Chinese options, there is no shortage of meat / vegetarian choices at mostly semi-premium prices. No one should be visiting here without having some element of their Peking Duck. $30 for a half, $56 for a whole, served with perfectly steamed pancakes (#4). The presentation is on point and the light crispy skin, along with the accompanying sweet + savory sauces, slices of cucumber + scallion, make for a near flawless bite. Their wide noodle (拌面) tossed tableside is a nice treat, and the flat noodle is quite excellent. Their twice cooked pork belly (回鍋肉) had a tasty aftertaste with a kick, and the eggs with shrimp (蝦仁炒蛋) was surprisingly tasty. I don't think any Sichuan meal is complete without long beans and pork (四季豆), which had a nice smokey flavor to it. The only bust was the fried orange tofu, which is a hit amongst regulars, but I didn't care for the sweetness despite the spice. The biggest highlight was their house soup, which was winter melon with chicken and cilantro. It was fragrant, seasoned perfectly, and the perfect start / end to the meal. Whether I'm on my way to /from IAH or just happen to find myself in Humble, I'm more than likely going to consider Bamboo House as a viable option for a quality Chinese meal. __________ (#1) One of the hottest cities for China's hottest cuisine. I have heard great feedback about Bambok House and and their authentic Chinese Cuisine. The first time I visited I planned it to the T and when I visited their bar was not operational any longer, and that was apart of my planning. So I left. The second time I visited, I had the Hong Shao Rou with mushrooms (Braised Pork Belly) to-go, not a huge fan of takeout and this didn't disappoint and it was good. The takeout team member was pleasant enough. They feature an open kitchen with two tops closer to the wall/glass and larger tables more toward the middle of the restaurant. From the outside it features the traditional Chinese architecture with western building base. I look forward to yaksying the rest of the menu this year.
Was craving peking duck and this place delivers, along with other excellent dishes as a nice surprise. Peking duck was 10/10. No notes. Good price, good proportion. Not too greasy. We did run out of pancakes at the end but there was like 1/4 of a duck left. Hits every craving you have. House special beef stir fried noodle was absolutely amazing. I'm obsessed with thick chewy noodles and these tasted like the hand pulled ones. Seasoning was perfect, can't remember if it was spicy spicy but there was a nice kick. Huge dish along with beef and some vegetables. Sweet potato in salted egg yolk was just sweet potato fries, but I love sweet potato fries so no complains. Fun little dish with a Chinese twist from the salted egg yolk. The only issue was during busy time, the duck soup will be the first dish to come out, sometimes long before you receive your peking duck. I prefer to sip the soup while eating peking duck, so I will attempt to request the soup to be brought out together with the duck next time.
My gosh, their duck is indeed the BEST duck in houston. I'm ranking this 8/10, if 10 is the duck I had at home in Beijing. Far better than any duck serves in Bellaire. My heart feels full from this duck. Brings me straight back to Beijing. I will definitely come back to try their noodles, egg and shrimp and all the other dishes the waiter recommended.
Truly, some of the best peking duck in Houston! The meat is tender, the skin is crispy, and the wrappers are thin but still stay intact as you peel them. I'm so glad they opt for wrappers instead of buns, as buns would be way too filling. While the outdoor sign rightfully claims to serve great peking duck, the other dish that we ordered was also really good! The Salt & Pepper Shrimp was perfectly fried and full of flavor without being overly salty. The veggies in the dish were also great - our entire table was surprised at how good it was. Unfortunately I had to dock a star due to the very slow service, mainly after we finished our meal. They were good in the beginning with promptly asking for our drink orders and getting our food order in, but then the dishes came out piece meal style with it feeling like ~10 minutes between each dish. Our table was a bit small, so I wonder if it was intentional to space out the dishes as to not crowd the table, but it would've been preferred that we had all our food at the same time. Additionally, once we finished our food, it took a long time to get to-go boxes and the check. At first we patiently waited for a good bit, then we flagged our server down and asked, and after more time passed I ended up walking up to the counter to ask again. She apologized and said they were short staffed. Great place to come to before or after a flight at IAH!
One of our favorite restaurants. I haven't posted in a while about Bamboo House. I tried a new dish Steamed Chicken in Chili Sauce something like Empress chicken but with a spicy chili sauce. It is served cold but has an amazing flavor and texture. As always, the host is very polite and waitstaff is professional yet friendly. The restaurant is clean and welcoming. Great place to bring the family. Thank you for serving our community with great food.
This restaurant is very close to the airport. And the hunan food is very authentic. The ambiance isn't the best and it can be crowed and noisy, but foods are still good.
Duck was delicious! We have a 10, 4 and 2 yr old girls and they all loved the duck. We unfortunately only order 1/2 a duck so my husband and I just tasted the duck. the lo mein was good and the beef broccoli was okay. the duck was definitely the start of the show. Will definitely be back and will need to order at least 1 whole duck.
Back to 4 stars this time. I have a pretty set menu that I order to-go from here twice a year to feed 25-30 people. The usuals in this large order are: Peking Duck, House Special Beef Noodles, Strawberry Chicken, Green Beans w/ Pork, and Shrimp w Fluffy Eggs. This time around, when I went to pick up the order, I noticed the Shrimp/Egg containers were smaller than they'be been in the past. I brought it to the attention of one of the managers who insisted it's the same size as it's always been (don't you hate when that happens?) I know for a fact the containers were larger (maybe they used the wrong containers previously?) and have always counted on the amount for the size of my party. Anyway, I ended up ordering an extra container to ensure I had enough, and I did. The food was delicious, as usual. I drive all the way from The Woodlands just to get this special order, because it's so good. The service could definitely be better, though.

Came for a birthday dinner. 11 of us and they didn't have a problem getting us a table after about a 10 min wait. The Peking duck and duck soup was delicious. The skin was nice and crispy and greasy. It was my first time trying duck and I was very impressed with it and the taste. Only negatives were they did not serve alcohol and all our dishes came out at separate times. Hopefully next time I go back they will have a liquor license. read more

ordered Take-out sesame chicken, this is what I received. I called to clarify order when husband got home. young lady told me this is how they make their Sesame chicken and they wouldn't offer to remake or sub for anything else. Will not eat here again read more
I admit I love good Chinese food. I've been looking for good Chinese food in the Summerwood Area for years and my prayers were finally answered when Bamboo opened. It's sorta hard to find hidden by foliage next to the McDonald's at the Beltway and Mesa but well worth the hunt. Their specialty is Peking duck and that alone gives you the best reason. Crispy, unctuous, with the thinnest of pancakes to wrap it the duck, hoisin sauce, cool green onions and cucumbers, this is what you want. When the restaurant is open for dining in, the plating is stunning, set on a bamboo box with mountains of duck on a white porcelain duck shaped dish. Bamboo House is not only about duck. There is much on the menu to explore. The Basil Eggplant is a winner with eggplant draped in a delightful sauce. Their special noodles are wide and made from scratch and feature a huge bowl of noodles and a separate bowl of sauce and meat. The sauce packs a kick so the ability to combine at a custom rate is appreciated. Their fried rice is on another level with big chunks of your preferred protein nestled throughout. And portion sizes? You will be a having a second meal as the plates resemble the Rockies. As for COVID response, they've got it going on. Takeout and delivery with pick up measures strictly enforced. You will be met in the lobby by a server behind plastic sheeting and provided an individually sanitized pen to use. Finally got to try this place after coming back to Texas after a year! The first time we came, they were still closed inside and only doing take out because of Covid. We ordered hot and sour soup and Peking duck (duck soup included) with order. We weren't that hungry, so we only ordered a couple dishes. The hot and sour soup came out fairly quickly, I'm sure they premade it and scooped it out from a big pot. The flavor was there, but it wasn't sour at all. The Peking duck that came out was crispy! I loved all the garnishes that came with the order: the cucumbers, slices green onions, and the wraps. They also gave us rock sugar, duck juice and sauce to eat it with. I think because the duck was oven roasted, it dried out the duck but it's not too bad once you add the sauces and garnishes. The duck soup that came with the Peking duck was delicious. The broth was very light and flavorful. Maybe they used the duck bones to make it? I'll be back here again to try other dishes on the menu next time I'm back in town! We really enjoyed the half order of Peking duck. It was plenty for two people. We liked the duck soup that came with the Peking duck. We also ordered the garlic shrimp and that was flavorful and we took home a lot of leftovers. I would recommend both dishes and we will come back. read more
Finally we have some real Chinese food closer to the NE side of the Houston metro! Ordered white chicken in chili oil, cold beef slices in chili oil, Chinese sauerkraut fish, and egg tofu. Food was overall very authentic, albeit the tofu was on the salty side. Nice big portions! Service was decent -- the young guy was decent, the women not so attentive. My mom dropped her non disposable chopsticks and the server gave her wooden disposable ones, which I thought was a weird move. Honestly though, I don't have high expectations (and you shouldn't either lol) for service at authentic Chinese restaurants. Tables were a bit sticky and cleanliness could be improved. This place is delicious, with so many authentic Chinese food choices, as well as Americanized Chinese food if you like those. Their portions are very generous, and the price is super reasonable. I recommend the Peking duck, the salted egg sweet potatoes (my kids loved them), Japanese tofu, eggs with shrimps, noodles etc. We got the sizzling chicken, which is a huge portion and stirred in tableside. You will definitely take food to go because the portions are so big. read more

Outside the entrance, we were greeted with 3 different signs on not leaving your valuables in your car unless you want your windows smashed. It seems like they may have had issues in the past, but with a security guard actively patrolling the car park now, it gave us some peace of mind. We came here for the Peking duck, and it certainly didn't disappoint. The half duck was sufficient for 3-4 people assuming you, order other 1-2 other items. The duck even came with a big bowl of soup made from leftover duck meat and bones. Portions were generous here. We tried the strawberry chicken. It's like eating orange chicken, but with strawberry flavor instead. The dish is even sprinkled with sliced strawberries to remind you that you were eating strawberry-flavored chicken, and not some other fruit. The tofu vegetables were nice too, but the broccoli tipped us of its American-Chinese roots. Finally, we had the bamboo house special beef noodles. It had flat noodles, with the beef in a separate bowl. So much flavor. The placed was completely packed on a Sunday evening in early March of 2020. Even a global pandemic doesn't appear to keep folks away, and we can understand why. read more

Attentive staff and fantastic meal. We ordered half Peking duck and came with duck and tofu soup, mixed beef cold plate, and a beef flat noodle dish. Huge portion size, enough for 4 people. The Peking duck was amazing. The skin was very crispy! They even make their own crepes but I wish it was thinner. The duck soup that came with it was very soothing to the throat after eating the greasy skin. The beef noodle dish was spicy and the handmade noodles were thick and very filling. I suggest eating that at the end as it can be very filling and you won't have the stomach to enjoy other foods. read more

Normally stacked, always a full house, I came once during lunch and now for dinner. We ordered a full duck, and half comes in this ceramic setting with a candle under so the fat does not solidify which is genius! A littler pricier than china town, but definitely good since you don't have to drive. Instead of bao they give you pancake which is pretty good. I'll tell ya what is absolutely excellent- watercrest spinach with garlic, excellent! I would totally come here again, they accept reservations, they can get pretty busy so be prepared! read more

Great except the pancake can be improved. The pancake is homemade plain flour and that's it. I hope it can be more chewy. But I appreciate even the pancake is homemade and not ordered from suppliers. The duck skin is very legit. It had a lot of fat and crispy which is what makes it legit. They only had take out available but they gave me enough green onion, cucumber, pancake and sauce. Sauce tasted legit and tasty. read more

OMG! This place surprised us. This place is a hidden gem. We ordered so much off the menu. The waitress was lke, "too much food", lol. It's very casual but so weird bc the food they serve is 5 star. The presentation of the food is 5 star. The wait staff is very nice. The kitchen is open which is very cool to see them preparing the food. Lets get to the actual food. This place will not disappoint on taste. We ordered the peking duck, Wow wonton soup, strawberry chicken, bbq pork comes over a bed of broccoli, fluffy eggs with bbq pork, and bamboo house special beef noodles. Let's start with this HUGE bowl of soup. My goodness it was soooo fresh and flavorful and wontons was full of meat. Nothing like that commercial broth you get everywhere else. The strawberry chicken was different for us but very delicious to my pallet. The fluffy eggs was just that. Very fluffy and yummy to my tummy. The peking duck presentation was 5 star. I don't usually like duck because of the game flavor. Their duck had no game flavor. It was tender and comes with asian cakes and all the fixings, soooo good. It also comes with a duck soup, again soooo good. The quality of the meat is outstanding. Bbq pork was cooked to perfection. Even the broccoli that the pork is served over had remarkable flavor with a little crunch. Lastely , these noodles, OMG. They mix the noodles at your table, again 5 star presentation! We cannot wait to go back and try the seafood. I am definitely bringing the fam here. Love it! This place is in our rotation of places to eat. The presentation of this food would have you thinking for a minute you are at a 5 star restaurant. And I have been to several of those. Typical 5 star presentation but lacking flavor on food. This place gives you corner store delicious food (my New Orleans roots lol)and 5 star presentation. Keep up the good work bamboo house. read more

Oh my, the peking duck is out of this world! I came here for lunch with my family strictly for peking duck cause my sister is always raving about it. She had to reserve a duck in advance because it's so damn popular! The peking duck was AMAZING. It was perfectly thin and crisp, and the presentation of the whole meal was beautiful. You have the duck cut up into slices and put onto a plate, pancakes that are kept in a bamboo crate so they are steaming, and condiments such as cucumbers, spring onions, hoisin sauce, and plum sauce. I haven't had peking duck in such a long time so it was literally love at first bite. Can you imagine all the different flavors? So good! The Peking duck also comes with duck soup which also has ginger and daikon in it. Not bad. We also tried their Mongolian beef. I thought it was just okay because it was pretty salty but good thing we had rice to balance it out. Next time I come back, I want to try their spicy noodles! read more

Peking Duck is da bomb! Fair warning you need to preorder/reserve 24 hours in advance OR you likely will not get it. 45 minute drive to get here.......it's worth the effort! I LOVE Chinese food and have had some of the best in Chinatown NYC and San Francisco as well as in China. I've enjoyed super upscale and dives! Bamboo House is now one of my all time favorites. It's a dive, with really great food that boasts no MSG, no canned, and all fresh ingredients. You can taste the quality. We had a reservation on a busy Saturday night, along with having reserved a Peking Duck to eat in AND one to take home, for the kids........and me too. Restaurant is very chaotic and service got off to a very bad start. I've found service in five Chinese places always hit or miss. After finally placing our order (enough for 12 people, but only having 4 in our party), we all of a sudden garnered much better service and were even moved to a bigger and better table to accommodate our pending feast. Food highlights Peking Duck-must have! Duck Soup- watch out for small and large bones in the tasty broth Spicy Crispy Chicken-yummy Special Noodles with Beef-yummy Garlic Spinach-yummy BBQ Pork Fried Rice-yummy BBQ Pork Green Beans-not what we expected, flavorful but void of chunks of meat, rather minute shaved bits of pork Garlic Shrimp-wonderful bursting with veggies and flavor Worth noting....we were celebrating 2 elderly birthdays........floor is dangerously slippery......and there are no deserts available. I had requested anything with a candle. We loved it! Our server Amanda stepped it up and was attentive. Plenty of "planned" leftovers. Their portions are generous and there is high value ratio to portion size and quality. Will definitely be back! 4/5 stars solely based being a dive with no ambiance, chaotic and dangerous slippery floor. read more

BEST Peking Duck in Houston. Worth every minute and every ounce of gas spent on the hour long drive up to Humble. The Peking Duck skin was perfectly crispy, and oozing with juices and strong flavors. I haven't tried any other Peking Duck in Houston that pays the same amount of the attention to detail in roasting their duck as Bamboo House. Presentation was the cherry on top. Traditional Beijing style crepes/wraps were kept in a bamboo crate, not some cheap tin or plastic container. They were perfectly thin and moist, but had no problem keeping everything tightly wrapped together. Hoisin sauce, plum sauce, and sugar were provided as condiments, alongside some freshly sliced cucumbers and spring onions. The Peking Duck is served with a side of Duck soup, made from the bones of the same duck that was roasted. The flavors of duck, cabbage, and radish fused perfectly together in this soup. A perfect way to wash down your food. The Spicy Beef Noodle definitely earned its reputation as one of the most popular dishes next to the Peking Duck. The beef was not overcooked, like in most Asian restaurants, and most of all, the noodles had a perfect texture that leaves no doubt in my mind it was made in house. I don't usually eat spicy, but I couldn't get enough of it (yes I did ask for less spicy stop judging). I have heard nothing but good things regarding bamboo house. We live near by and drive by here numerous but because this building has housed a few restaurants we were reluctant. Today was the day to try it and no regrets. We were seated and it took a little but for the server to come get our order but it gave us time to look over the menu a few times. Crab Rangoon are something that I have to try every time I eat Chinese. These were large and full of cream cheese and crab. Within a few minutes our entrees showed up. The sweet and sour chicken was large generous portions. The cashew chicken had wonderful portions of broccoli and mushrooms but I did not see one cashew. The order comes with a side of white rice. I just had to try the chili bacon fried rice. It was delicious but a little more bacon and some green onion would have bright it a higher level for me. Service was very good never once did we have an empty cup or need anything. My only gripe is the building needs so TLC. they redid some the building, but get rid of all the paper signs and invest in some nice signage. fix the walls that are all messed up from chairs gouging into them. read more

Finally got the chance to try Bamboo House after arriving into IAH! The place was quite busy when we arrived around 6:30 pm on Sunday, but we were seated immediately and given a huge menu to look through. The options included both traditional Chinese dishes as well as Chinese-American classics, but we knew what we were gunning for - the traditional peking duck, expertly stripped off the bone and sliced to fit within the thin rice flour crêpes. At $25.95 for a half and $45.95 for the whole, it's the most expensive item on the menu for good reason. It is accompanied with fixings and a savory duck soup, so you probably won't need to order a lot more. In addition, we added the Bamboo House special chicken noodles on the recommendation of our waitress and an order of stir-fried bok choy and mushrooms for our daily fiber quota. The soup arrived first, which indicated to us that they probably keep a pot on boil for the majority of the day, refreshing it with duck bones, veggies, and water. I'm not a fan of cilantro, but everything about this savory broth was excellent and it had a lot more goodies in it (like squash and tofu) than duck soups at other places. Next came our noodles, which you could tell were definitely made fresh in-house - the chicken mixture was a bit oily and heavy on the onions, but was generously sized such that we split it to take home and mix with rice. The bok choy was satisfying, with little gems of garlic studding the greenery and supple, umami mushrooms rounding out the dish. Finally - the duck, presented with gusto atop a wooden serving tray. The skin was remarkably crisp, the meat was juicy and avoided being stringy, and the crêpes were thin and airy. I had never tried eating duck with the sour plum sauce and brown sugar, but they make for an interesting condiment - I myself prefer the traditional combination of scallions, hoisin sauce derivative, and sometimes cucumbers, which are also provided. I'd come here all the time if it weren't so far from the center of town. Traffic on 59 can be killer, but if you live near the area or find yourself hungry after landing at George Bush, Bamboo House is a definite must-try. I'll be back after my next trip! read more

Went here last night because my dad lives on Humble & loves Asian food. I ordered a couple dishes to eat family style; Mongolian beef, General Tso's chicken, combination Lo Mein & crab wontons. Beef was good and had great flavor. General Tso's was basically sweet & sour chicken with thick breading thrown in sauce. Breading was so thick, it absorbed most of the sauce. It was very unappetizing. LoMein was average. Crab wontons seemed like they were old and refried. The wontons was rock hard and the cream cheese was curdled on the inside. I spent about 55 bucks on everything. Should've went to Peiwei. ATTENTION ALL ASIAN RESTAURANTS, please stop assuming only Asians eat with chopsticks. Food here is amazing and the portion size is HUGE! The Peking duck is one of the best I've had in a while. The skin was so crispy and meat wasn't dry. It also comes with a big bowl of duck soup that we all enjoyed as well. We also tried the basil eggplant, spicy fried chicken and Japanese tofu with mushroom dish. All were great dishes. The portions were so big that we had tons of leftovers left I would recommend coming here if you need to make a trip to the airport as it is pretty far. read more

Yummy duck (my cat liked it too!). The pancakes and the sauce go wonderfully with the duck, which is roasted perfectly. The beef dry noodles here are solid as well; they are flavoured nicely with spices and peanuts. The beef comes separate from the noodles--they go well together as well as separately. I think these two dishes are a must try for first timers for sure! read more

Absolutely loved this place. Me and a friend came here by chance after coming back to Houston (conveniently located near Bush international Airport). Right when we walked, the restaurant was packed but we didn't have to wait for a table! As we walked to our table, I saw like every table get the Peking Duck so it must be infamous here. It was just me and one other person so we didn't get the Peking Duck - instead, we got the Wow Wonton Soup, Basil Chicken, and Braised Pork. Oh my gosh, everything was amazing. The portion size was huge, each dish had great flavor. The Braised Pork reminded me like I was back in Taiwan, good ratio of meat to mushrooms and it had equal amounts of actual pork and pork belly. They don't skip out on anything. I was also totally surprised by the Wonton Soup because it tasted homemade - everything from the broth to the wontons. The bowl was literally larger than my head....needless to say, it's huge and filled with shrimp, vegetables and chicken too. It really deserves the "Wow" in its name. The customer service exceeded my expectations too - the food came out so fast and the server repeatedly came over to ask how we were doing and refilled our drinks as needed. I am for sure a returning customer and anyone in Houston needs to try this place. Hopefully I get a bigger group so I can try the Peking duck next time! read more
Their famous Peking duck comes with good taste and quality and I love the duck soup!! My husband is the big walnut shrimp person, and he approved that Bamboo house's shrimp is great! My personal favorite is the beef noodle!!! Super tasty and spicy! read more
Took a little detour to try out this highly raved place for their peking duck. It did not let us down! Went on a Saturday afternoon and place was packed. Plenty of parking. We ordered the half peking duck that came with 10 pancakes and duck soup for $25.95 - it came with all the fixings. Broth for soup was good, and liked that they had tofu and squash in it rather than just bone broth - it was yummy. Duck was presented on a nice wooden Bamboo House tray with all the fixings - hoisin sauce, scallions, cucumbers and even plum sauce and brown sugar. The duck was soft and juicy, none that were dry and had a good crispy skin but only negative was it was full of oil (but I guess that's what got it so soft right?). The surprise standout for me was really the thin and ultra soft pancake crepes - it was delicious when everything was put together. Loved the size of the crepes and just how airy it was, unlike a lot of places where its hard and big pieces. We tried out the garlic vegetables and was good too, portion sizes for a lot of dishes we saw were huge and shareable. They had a wide variety of traditional and Chinese-American dishes. They also have a bar area with cocktail drinks. Definitely would recommend to give them a try - especially the peking duck - we'll be back! read more

Suggest you calling the restaurant for confirmation.
Do we need reservation or just walkin?
Just walk in. You may have a slight wait on the weekends, but generally you will be seated quickly.

How many people does one peking duck order feed/serves?
if this is your only meal it can feed 3-4 people, if you share with other entrees maybe 5-6

I called recently to ask if they plan on opening for dine in and essentially, told it's unlikely. We loved going there as a family but it's not worth driving there for take out. Such a shame.
Does anyone have suggestions for making some of their favorite Bamboo House entrees vegan?
Open thanksgiving? Christmas?
Not sure about Thanksgiving (can probably call and ask), but they said they're closed Christmas Day.
