The che is overall really delicious, tasty, and refreshing for a hot day. My brother also likes their mango smoothie, it's pretty sweet and flavorful. I also love the consistency of their pandan waffle. It's crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. I normally don't eat pandan waffles but it's worth trying here! Service was also pretty nice. They always let me swap out my grass jelly for longan! Drinks also come out pretty quick. There are lots of seats inside. Pretty spacious and clean. The wait can be long. I usually just order on door dash for pick up. Avocado smoothie is my go to and it always turn out well. My issue is their straw. It just sucks and ruins the drink experience. You can suck so hard on the straw to try to get the thick smoothie out, the pressure flattens the straw and it cracks, leaving you with a straw that leaks air on the sides and you can't drink your drink with that straw anymore. The pandan mochi waffle is pretty tasty. It has a nice pandan flavor that isn't too overpowering. It also has a good crisp on the outside and soft mochi texture inside which is pretty addictive. I don't go here for the service. It feels pretty transactional during my visits and it doesn't feel like the staff are that friendly. I asked if I could get free whipped cream on the side for the waffle and the cashier said they would have to charge me even though the digital & printed menus both advertised it as free. The so-called manager (a young woman in her 20s) was hands down the most unprofessional, unpersonable, and disrespectful manager I've ever encountered. After a lighthearted joke with a kind staff member (who handled everything wonderfully), this manager stormed out and, without even being there to witness the interaction, decided to raise her voice at me in front of at least ten people. She was screechy, rude, and completely out of line. A real manager would have had the sense to pull me aside and handle the matter privately--not publicly humiliate a paying customer in front of a child. Her behavior was not just unprofessional, it was disgraceful. Bamboo may have good drinks, but with management this immature and disrespectful, it ruins the entire experience. If this is the kind of "leadership" they allow, it reflects terribly on the business as a whole. read more

Worst Bambu I have ever been. I've been going to these locations throughout Los Angeles and this was my first time at one in Northern California. My drinks were absolutely terrible. I've never had Vietnamese dessert like this before but it was so delicious! Bambu serves up really interesting coconut milk vietnamese desserts -- you'll like them if you like desserts/drinks with a lot of different textures. The menu has a ton of options to choose from so it's hard to decide, but I got the bambu favorite which has grass jelly, red tapioca, pandan jelly, and coconut milk. You can either eat it with a spoon or drink from a straw bc all the toppings are slurpable which I think is so fun. I was expecting the tapioca to be similar to chewy boba balls, but these were actually a lot different (in a good way). They're a lot smaller and more firm and almost crunchy. The grass jelly had a really good texture and didn't fall apart when you sip it through the straw either. The pandan jelly flavor was amazing too. Every slurp had me guessing what flavor combination I was getting. The inside of this place is super clean and nicely decorated. We were able to find seating easily. There wasn't too much of a line when we went either. The workers are really nice too and the drinks come out fast. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a new dessert to try! I frequently visit Bambu in San Mateo. It was a pleasant surprise to find it in Millbrae, next to where we parked. Their space was nice and clean. It provides ample seating to enjoy one's favorite dessert or drink. There was only one person serving and making the orders. She hardly spoke or engaged with the customers. #6 Fruit Addict is my alltime fave! It's really refreshing and I love the natural sweetness of the ingredients: lychee, jackfruit, longan, red tapioca, slices of coconut meat, palm seed and pandan jelly in coconut milk and topped with finely shaved ice. They added too many beans and ice and it didn't have the coconut creaminess that I like in halo halo. It's like faux halo halo at 14% higher prices. Bambu has become one of our go to places during the pandemic. We usually go to the San Mateo location on "B" Street but have come to this Millbrae location a few times as well. Overall, we like the San Mateo location a little better even though both Millbrae and San Mateo have the same menu. We have just found that the San Mateo location's drink are less watery. That's why this location gets four stars while I would give San Mateo's location five stars. We frequently order the taro lovers drink which has real coconut milk and pandan jelly. I got the lychee drink with agar agar jello and I honestly couldn't finish it -- I ate the lychee and drank the juice but I personally really disliked the agar agar jello. Maybe this was partially my bad for not knowing what agar jello was and not googling, but when I asked the girl at the checkout what it was + if it was chewy (I think I was imagining something closer to lychee jello), she said that it was chewy. However, the agar jello in my experience was firm and didn't have any chew, so I didn't enjoy the texture of it at all in my drink. We had ordered two #10 but we're given #1 instead. When we informed the staff that the drinks were not what we ordered although they told us that we had made the mistake of ordering the wrong drink. They did remake them for us but they would not refund us for the price difference . Their reason was that they had already made the more expensive drinks and that we should check the receipt next time and take it up with corporate. My friends and I have had che from the locations in Sunnyvale, San Mateo, and South City (the latter two are now closed), and have always enjoyed them. Here, not so much, or maybe we we just visited on a (really, really) off day? There were four of us, and we each ordered different drinks. And we found all of them to be severely lacking in any flavor. It was super weird. We even tried each other's and we agreed they were all just mildly coconut-y and mildly sweet. I know that the ingredients usually have fairly subtle flavors, but you can at least differentiate between most of the toppings. This time, we couldn't. The lychee had no flavor. The jackfruit had no flavor. The pandan jelly had no flavor. The grass jelly had no flavor. (And that last one is saying something, because I abhor grass jelly.) It was really odd. Service also wasn't the greatest. The guy who took our order kind of brushed off my friend when he had a question about one of the toppings. He also got two of our orders wrong (additional toppings were added to the wrong drinks). Luckily, we caught it on the receipt before they started making the drinks. read more
