The Bambu is situated on the corner close to the mall, but not in the mall itself, so doesn't feel as heavily traversed as other tea shoppes. They were celebrating an anniversary and offered a special discount, and offered to take my order at the cash register instead of the kiosk, which felt very personal. I liked that there were multiple size options for milk teas, and chose to try a small one under $5. I ordered the mango milk tea with 50% sugar. It seemed to have a green tea or jasmine base, which could be discerned through each sip. There was a slight mango flavor as well. I like that there are smaller drink options when one doesn't feel like having a whole meal in a drink. Their che and halo halo options look quite large and enough to share. Before going to the one down in Westminster, more than a decade had passed since the last time I had stopped into a Bambu. Given that, it doesn't escape me that it took just a matter of months for my next visit to happen again. No real rhyme or reason as to why it didn't take nearly as long this time, but I'd be lying if I said that the Ube Halo Halo we tried didn't have something to do with it. While it ultimately wasn't what we ordered, the memory of what we had definitely got us excited to try more when my friends suggested coming here! Compared to the location over on Geary (and the one in Westminster, for what it's worth), this Bambu is better in just about every way. Sure, it helps that it's still relatively new (they opened about eight months ago?), but it's undoubtedly cleaner, feels a whole lot brighter, is a bit more conveniently located, and, most significantly, has way more parking available nearby. As for the menu, it had pretty much all of the usual offerings that you'd expect to find at any of their locations - che desserts, milk tea, fruit teas, waffles, macarons, and Vietnamese coffee. -- MANGO HALO HALO - Green Jello Base with Coconut Meat, Coconut Milk, Red Tapioca, Jackfruit, Egg Pudding, Crystal Boba, Mango Jelly, Pandan Jelly, Nata de Coco, and Topped with Mango Ice Cream While it didn't impress quite like the Ube Halo Halo did, this was still really good. Between all of the mangos (vs ube) and jellies, this felt a lot fruitier and lighter. However, it also didn't feel quite as creamy as the Ube one did, which I kind of missed. -- VIETNAMESE EGG COFFEE Sadly, the coffee is a pre-made mix, so they weren't able to modify the sweetness, but I appreciate that they added plain coffee to help dilute it. Even then, though, this ended up being really sweet. Loved how creamy the egg foam made this, though. Despite how I genuinely like this particular Bambu, I don't know how often I would come back since I don't typically crave che desserts and other places usually come to mind first when I think of where to get milk tea. When I am at Stonestown I have tried every spot more than once. I thought I did try every place until I saw a place which was not on my radar which serves everything from Che Vietnamese Dessert to the Mango Halo Halo desserts along with milk tea located in the cuts of Stonestown on Beckingham Way at Bambu. On a Spring stroll Don Juan de la matcha was strolling along the Stonestown mall and ran into Bambu. Inside you can smell the waffles in the air and the scent drew me to try them. I first got the Pandan waffles which were green like matcha but it was savory and a bit crispy with more than a drop and a squirt of caramel syrup which made them delicious. I then ordered the Taro waffles which was bit sweeter but not too sweet and it too had some syrup. These purple colored waffles had good flavor but a bit flakey like some in SF. I had to try their Che Vietnamese dessert which was called Bơ Dầm also known as the Smashed Avocado. It looked like matcha but this dessert has some avocado along with boba and jelly. It was very thick , rich , and dense with lots of flavor. Lastly I had to tango with Mango tea and it was not too sweet but juicy and very refreshing. Overall a must try place to add to list of new places around Stonestown. Ordered a coffee milktea with boba and loved how they use crushed ice--didn't need a lot to keep the drink cold. Mmmm. (They also make pandan waffles and halo halo :0) There's a nearby banh mi shop in the same building that doesn't have seating, so our logic was to eat our banh mi at Bambu and complete the meal with a drink and some dessert while we were at it. Closer to home, finally. Glad to have Bambu open on this side of SF. It was packed when I went on a Monday afternoon. No lines but all tables - not that there were a lot, were occupied. This once banh mí sandwich shop near Stonestown Galleria was secretly replaced by Bambu, the same Vietnamese milk tea café that I used to check out in Geary Blvd of Outer Richmond. Thought I wait to buy just one banh mí sandwich, but never lost when I had a chance to try something new at Bambu. I have no words for its interior, but its customer service sounds sweet and easy going. I was better off choosing number 6, which was Chè Trái Cây. Every cup of chè requires a spoon rather than a straw alone. Mine had over eight surprising ingredients. Of all the following: coconut flesh, coconut milk, red tapioca, pandan jelly, jackfruits, palm seeds, agar agar jellos, and longans/lychee. That took about a frustrating 20 minutes wait before I absolutely head off inside Stonestown Galleria. Even after I had a nice cup of chè, I would expect a brain freeze. Spoonful after spoonful, I experienced a carnival of flavors. The next time I visit to have a different cup of chè, I choose vegan options or a smash avocado. read more

My friends and I finally got the chance to swing by Bambu in Stonestown. This seemed to be the old subway location but is much brighter than before and more welcoming. You can park in the garage on the second level if you need parking and just exit at the main entrance. Their store is located in the outside so you have to walk past the banh mi love place first. We were greeted immediately by the staff when we walked in n. You can either order from the kiosk or from the cashier. I didn't the cashier because I felt it was faster instead of just searching for what I wanted . I got the pandan waffles and my friends got the egg coffee. We sat down as we waited for our orders and the owner/manager Betty, came out to talk to us and even offered us a sample of the uve waffle. She even offered us water as we waited. For a second I felt I walked into a fancy restaurant. The pandan waffles was made to perfection and I loved the pandan flavor. I could've added chocolate syrup or fruits to this but I wanted it to be simple so I didn't added anything to both my waffles. Best to eat this warm ! The egg coffee was so good. I loved how strong it was! My friends found it strong too, so if you can't handle it , try to add more ice. This drink alone is worth coming back for! Overall, the service is top notch. I came in to try a new drink. They have so many options, it's difficult to make a choice. I didn't want any of the elaborate drinks with 4-5 items in it, so stayed with the mango milk tea. It was delicious. Soft chunks of mango and not too sweet. Staff was nice. It wasn't busy in the early afternoon so service was quick. Food and drinks are great and the spot is next to my gym. I do think they need to optimize how they're making the drinks because it's quite the wait every single time. It seems they need to hire another worker or maybe get a handle on their Uber Eats system. I also think the young workers need to be better trained on how to handle customers. As I'm sitting here waiting I can hear then cashier giving some pushback to a customer about a topping they ordered from the menu but somehow they're claiming the store does not carry it. I do think that's a miss on their part. If your store does not carry it then take it off the menu or maybe suggest providing a substitute for the customer's troubles. Secondly, if you're really busy and can't handle the orders then turn off the Uber ticketing system until you can catch up. Went at 7pm on a weeknight almost during their closing time, and they were still able to accomodate making a pandan waffle. Bambu and their che drinks is a nostalgic place to me as I grew up going to the one in the Richmond. Apparently grand opening for this location was just this past weekend. It replaced the subway that used to be there, right across the street from city sports. They have the option of a self order kiosk or pay at the register. There is a transaction fee for paying with card though. Seating area has about 5 tables. Music was playing but not overly loud so I foresee people coming here to do work/chill. Only downside is no WiFi or outlets. Our order was ready fairly quick. The Vietnamese coffee was very sweet, since no option to adjust sweetness. I guess it would be good for people who don't like the bitter taste. Bambu special #1 had the option to adjust both sweetness and ice. They have many style of Che 'Vietnamese dessert' and smoothies but I usually get the number 6 fruit addict which is one my favorite. It comes with jelly, jackfruit, longan, lychee, coconut milk and so on. They also have snacks like waffle either taro or pandan flavor and macaroons. I love Bambu! I was so surprised that there was a location at Stonestown and I didn't hear about it till recently, I always go to the San Jose Story Road location whenever I'm in the area and this place seems to offer similar options. My go-to is always the Vietnamese style yogurt drink with either Strawberry or Honeydew but this location only offered strawberry between the two. Service was very friendly and fast and I was informed by the staff that they offer a promo on Wednesdays, if you buy three drinks, you can get a free waffle! The Waffle is so nice and fluffy similar to Paris Baguette waffles. The inside of the store is very nice as well but because it's on the right of the wholefoods, it wasn't really too busy compare to Quickly inside the mall and this was after school time where all the kids get out. I've never written a review before, but this experience was frustrating enough that I felt I had to. We ordered our drinks at the kiosk and ended up waiting about 38 minutes, while multiple groups who ordered after us were getting their drinks first. What made it worse was overhearing a conversation between a customer and a worker. The customer asked, "Do you remember me?" The worker said yes and then told her, "I'll make your drink right now," even though she had clearly ordered after us. As paying customers who ordered earlier, it didn't feel fair to see someone else get prioritized like that. We watched around 10 to 12 drinks get made before ours was even started. When we finally got our drinks, they were watery. I'm not sure what went wrong since we ordered the same way as everyone else, but the process felt really disorganized and unfair. If you come here, expect long wait times and inconsistent service. It's really not ideal if you're busy or on the go. I won't be returning to this location and will continue going to the Millbrae location instead. It's much faster, the drinks taste better, and the service is far more fair and consistent. read more
