We had the chicken pad Thai, ginger stir fry with chicken and yellow curry with chicken. The pad Thai was yummy! Great flavor, nicely seasoned. Would order again. The ginger stir fry was tasty, loved the array of veggies with it. The yellow curry was not our fave. Thought maybe it was a different style of Thai yellow curry but it had a very seafoody aroma and taste. Kind of like the smell of imitation crab. It was unlike any other Thai yellow curry I've had. I personally wouldn't order this one again. Not sure if it was an off night or maybe just a different way of making it, but everyone is different and I'm sure some people will enjoy it. We ordered and shared the yellow curry and the pad Thai combination and both were outstanding ! We wrapped things up with homemade coconut, ice cream, top with peanuts, and we found it most refreshing. Passing thru Grants Pass. Love thai food. Ordered takeout. Shrimp pad thai, and chicken pad thai for the wife. Order was straight forward, but no question about " how spicy we would like it". Price was reasonable, gave a tip, total $40.00. Got back to hotel, dove in. Portions were small for dinner entree. Noodles were very bland at best. Pad thai is supposed to be a mix of flavors.....fishy,sweet,sour,crunchy, soft. Instead of a lime slice, they put in a small lemon slice. Plenty of peanut crumbles and sprouts, but nothing sweet, and definetly no spice. My wife took a few bites and threw the rest in the trash. I was hungry and finished mine. Really a disappointing experience with this establishment. We were having a Hawaiian shish kebab dinner planned and wanted to supplement with some pineapple rice from Ban Mai Thai. I saw some positive reviews for this particular dish and I thought it would be a nice addition so my husband went down to get an order to go. He specifically told them that he didn't want any protein i.e. no pork chicken or shrimp added - he just wanted the plain Hawaiian rice. He said he just needed enough for three or four people to share. She came out with a 10" x 12" aluminum pan - half full and told him the price. He said so that's $17..50, and handed her a 20.00! bill - And she said no it's $70.00.....He was so shocked he paid it and came home. We both couldn't believe the price for this. This is rice folks. I'm a cook. I've had my own restaurant. I know the price of food, and this dish made even with all the ingredients (of which there was no meat or shrimp) would not cost more than maybe $15 to prepare. To have that kind of markup - $70 !! for a rice dish is absolutely ridiculous... And the sad thing is the dish was mediocre tasting ... very bland and for being a PINEAPPLE rice.? It probably had 8 or 9 small pieces of pineapple total in it. You could hardly taste it. I will be adding pineapple and spices to make it more palatable before serving it to my guests. :-(. Again, shocked and very disappointed . I will never come to this restaurant again just because of the way they're gouging the public. Ban Mai gets good reviews and I hear the food is good but charging $70 for a mediocre rice. dish is beyond unfair and taking advantage. Buyer beware! read more

We decided to try this for takeout. Ended up being amazing! My fiancé and me both got the seafood red curry and have zero complaints. Loved the veggie tempura as well! During our brief stay in Grants Pass, we tried hard to find good Asian food for pick up. Ban Mai Thai was one of the few that had a great rating. We called 8 times to ask questions and place order, but only 2 calls went through. They were very busy and hadn't set up the automatic voice message. The staff who answered was very friendly and helpful. She told me all dishes were customizable (e.g. made vegetarian or vegan). We ordered Grandma's Soup w/ Beef (with glass noodles), Massaman Curry w/ Tofu, and Yellow Curry w/ Tofu. Food was ready in 40 minutes. Everything was delicious. Grandma's soup had an amazing variety of vegetables - cabbage, cilantro, celery, bok choy, and shiitake mushrooms. The Grandma's special stock was very flavorful. I enjoyed the pair-up with glass noodles, but it wasn't very filling. Glad to find this gem in Grants Pass! read more

I walked in at 2:45 and the very rude little man stopped me at the door and said they were closing at 3pm. He refused to seat me. I have been eating here for years, the food is good. Prices have gone up *massively*. Normal fried rice dish is about $20 now, so two dinners and an order of spring rolls is well over $50. That would be fine...except the quality is incredibly inconsistent. You ask them for spicy, you get the blandest food possible with gritty, grey chicken and very little additional ingredients in a fried rice dish. We were making a road trip from Fresno California to Portland Oregon. One of our stops along the route was Grants Pass Oregon. We found this Thai restaurant and ordered some Ginger Chicken, Orange Chicken, and Pad Thai Seafood. The food was delicious and very flavorful. The service as well was nice and friendly. There was lots of parking and lots of space between the diners. Would definitely recommend this as a great place to eat for those visiting the Grants Pass area. read more

For a remote location, away from Thai town in CA, the food is good. The Tom Yum was delicious and soothing. The salad egg roll (fresh egg roll) was tiny and ok. No shrimp or pork. Lunch here today. Started out with the salad rolls. I liked the bite sized pieces, but for the price I would have liked to see more shrimp. I had the coconut milk soup with squid. The flavor was excellent with a nice citrus tang from the lemongrass, and very nice mushrooms. Could have used a little more seafood. My wife had the pineapple curry, and she thought that was the perfect portion size for lunch, and had a nice sweetness from the fruit. Interior was nice and spacious and very clean. Definitely not impressed. Ordered the yellow curry w/chicken added & when I pulled out the container, it wasn't close to being full. I thought, "Oh, they must have left the chicken and veg out." Nope, they were there... not much was, though. Then when I scooped it out, the sauce was so thin, like water, that I wondered if they were running out & added water to it. The pad Thai was not good. I told my husband to eat it, but he didn't like it, either (and he loves it normally) so we tossed it. I will say, though, there was one item that I would eat again. It was the Grandma's Soup. I found it flavorful and something I'd want if I was ill and wanting chicken soup or on a cold rainy day with some great bread. If their other dishes were of that quality, I'd return, but unfortunately this place isn't for me. read more
