Disappointing lunch order @ Panera Bread in Medford, OR. I'm not surprised that once the hype of Panera Bread opening up in this town settled down, they wouldn't be an anticipated lunch destination. They've gone down hill since their glory days from decades past. This was my second visit here and I used the kiosk to place my order, as did others since no employee was present to personally take orders. I tried ordering a 'pick 2' with one of my items being salad. I tried to choose multiple salads and every time it said 'no romaine or iceberg lettuce is available at this time' like seriously?!? So yeah, what I ended up getting was just 'okay'. I didn't like that they added the tortilla strips into the soup container so by the time I was ready to eat it, I had a soggy mush on top of perfectly good soup. Like who does that? Also, the sandwich didn't have its ingredients evenly distributed, so I had to bite into certain spots here and there... No care with the food they serve to patrons. What's on display? Sugar-filled pastries and a gross selection of over-priced drinks. I had to ask for a code just to use the bathroom and the employee I tracked down clearly did not want to be there. This is not a place I would enjoy dining in, and would happily go to Chick-fil-A across the street. I will not be returning. read more

Food was amazing and place was very clean and looks brand new. One of the nicest Paneras I've been too. Employees were very kind and gave us free cookies at the end of our meal due to us being there while store was closing. If I'm ever back in Medford I will definitely keep this location in mind. read more

Sad. The pic I've attached is of the flat as a slice of toast Cinnamon Crunch Bagel I received just this morning. Flat as toast and barely toasted. This is one of my favorite items from Panera Bread; ruined the anticipated experience. If this is the "quality" you plan to deliver, please just close up shop and I'll get them when I travel. Normally, I really like tuna fish, but the tuna fish sandwich I bought at Panera Bread today was not good. They definitely need to work on quality control. The hard center of the tomato was left in, and half of the avocado was completely inedible. It was hard as a rock. When you pay extra for avocado, it should at least be edible. read more

The lettuce was in giant pieces (it was to go so didn't have a knife to cut), mostly rinds, some had wilted edges, and some had been frozen. FOOD POISONING!!! Several of the students in my son's class got food poisoning from eating here. But I wasn't to be deterred. As a huge fan of Panera back in the 1990s in California, I was excited when we were getting one in Southern Oregon. Boy was I disappointed! The food was absolute rubbish. They were out of bread bowls at 5 PM, so I got my soup with bread on the side. The bread was dry and tasteless, and the broccoli soup I used to love was very obviously either canned or from a powdered mix. What has happened here??? How can a chain be so bad and still be putting out new locations??!! I even tried one more time and it was just as bad. Never again! read more

Two of us ate here today. One got a BLT with chicken & rice soup. The BLT was average, but was not toasted as is traditional for BLTs. The soup was good. I had fire chili in a bread bowl. The chili was spicy and soupy. The bread was dense and moist. Only a spoon was provided; making it nearly impossible to eat any of the bowl itself. Strangely, a roll was provided along. with the bread bowl and its "plug." This is was definitely too much bread and since the company apparently didn't expect customers to eat the bowl, it was a waste of food. Panera has really gone downhill. I grew up in Florida and used to love this place. I was so excited Medford was getting one. I have been three times and every single time I get half of what I ordered. The first being a large soup. They gave me a small cup I paid for the full. The second time I went I got a 16oz smoothie it was clearly 8 ounces if not smaller bc the cup wasn't even full. The third time and last time I will ever go I got a parfait that was half the size as advertised and had three pieces of fruit in it. Save your money and go somewhere else. For being a brand new restaurant in Medford, this place was very disappointing. The restaurant is quite large and lots of space and quite clean. Of course, it's brand new! That being said, the sandwiches were horrible. They were all bread. My husband had the steak sandwich. It was literally one ounce of meat and 8 ounces of bread! I had a pepperoni, mozzarella baguette that was the same way. It was $35 for two sandwiches and soup. The broccoli cheddar soup was very good~ but that's what Panera is known for! The menu is also quite confusing. I never did understand how the "pick two" worked. I ended up just ordering what I thought I wanted. I couldn't find a paper menu and the board was hard to read, especially when you have people waiting. Sadly to say, I had high hopes for this place and waited a long time for it to open. Picked up a chicken sandwich and a mac and cheese today. I got very sick an hour later and threw up all my food. I will not be back. On top of getting sick, it cost $21 for a sandwich and mac and cheese for drive-thru food that takes forever & has all together low standards. If you're going to donate at the drive-thru or inside, make sure you know where your money is going. Food was good, but both my husband and I had stomach issues afterwards. Our biggest complaint was the manager on Friday 10/25/24 in the late afternoon had no interest in waiting on us and never said a word, seeming inconvenienced by us being there.. Then one of the employees walked by us dragging a dirty toilet brush with her foot from the restrooms to the back room through the main lobby in front of the registers. And, the team manager didn't even comment. We have always enjoyed Panera but this made us question going back. Will the store manager please address these issues. read more

Customer Beware You won't find it on the menu at the counter; there is a 'secret' Value Deal menu only found on the app. As you can see from my receipt the SAME size meal of Cup of Tomato soup and 1/2 tuna sandwich is $7.99 for the Value Deal and from the Pick 2 menu is $13.38. It's the SAME SIZE MEAL! When I showed the receipt to the sift manager she said I HAD to TELL the associate that I wanted the Value Deal and then they would ring it up for the $7.99 price. Clean enough for a new store, but they don't clean the bathrooms at all. The food; well if you want to load up on carbs great, but if you want soup in the bread bowl you may get 1/4 cup if that. It seems this new store only wants a customer to come once. I tried to get a hold of a manager... too busy to talk to me. So if you like bread and very little soup stop on in. Had a Too Good To Go order, which shared it was supposed to be a minimum of $15 worth of food. I picked it up and it didn't look like it was the right amount of food, so I told them that, and the lady asked the manager who said there was nothing they could do. They only gave me $12.06 worth of food, which is a scam when it guaranteed at least $15 worth, and then to be gaslit for it and told they won't honor the amount I paid for. Thankfully I went back inside and talked to someone else and they gave me another item to bring it up to the full amount. The bakery items were really good and Too Good To Go is an amazing app and I love what it stands for. Just cruddy service! Like I get it if someone messed up and forgot an item or wasn't familiar with what to do and I was nice, but then even when it's pointed out and the price added up/disputed still not to honor it. How many people aren't going to add up the price or speak up (twice) and are just going to be scammed by them. Very disappointed. We ordered at the kiosk, as there was no one at the counter. The photos on the kiosk showed beautiful over-stuffed sandwiches. I ordered the bbq chicken and got a half because they looked huge. What I got was a fraction of the photo. I had to lift the bread off to see if there was actually chicken on the sandwich. The tuna sandwich was the same, far less tuna than the photo. And the price for one and a half sandwiches and two drinks, $30!! My first, and last, review of Panera Bread. I won't be back. I ordered a whole grilled cheese sandwich, a mac and cheese, not in a bread bowl, and a regular diet Pepsi. $20.77. Yep, ridiculous prices. The diet pepsi was a "regular", say more like a small or child size, for $3.29. With all the ice there might have been 1 cup of pepsi in there, but I wouldn't bet on it. Grilled cheese sandwich. Very good bread, but obviously no one there has ever had a proper grilled cheese sandwich. It was still warm when I got home, but the cheese was not melted and was very globby, and the bread had the most faint color. I actually fired up the stove and had to grill it again to make it edible. $8.39. Mac and cheese. I will say their mac and cheese is some of the best I've had. Very cheesy, very good, what there was of it. It's a tiny bit larger than KFC's (and much better), but less than half the size of Chick fil A, and more money to boot. On their menu it's $10.99. For that price it should be at least double it's present size. I think because I ordered a sandwich and mac and cheese, I got $1.90 off what everything would be separately. The order also included a small piece of baguette and a small bag of potato chips. Got napkins but no utensil for the mac and cheese. Overall, as mentioned, excellent mac and cheese, but ridiculously priced, and hope your grilled cheese sandwich improves. We tried it but found it lacking in a few ways. Ordered take out, Turkey Chili, a very small serving and it contained maybe 5 beans and no turkey in sight. My wife's Mac & Cheese was good though. But we waited 40 minutes for our order. OK, maybe it was a "one off" so came back the next day for a sandwich that was on the website, 30 minutes into our wait I was told they no longer offer that sandwich. Switched to a pepperoni mozzarella sandwich, but again lacking, maybe 5 small pepperoni slices and no cheese oozing out the sides. The bread was good. Again had to wait 40 minutes for our order. First visit. Ordered my turkey and ham sandwich on white bread with mayo. Grilled. Our food was delivered quickly, we sat outside. Our cashier/server was sweet and courteous. After a bite, the bread stuck to the roof of my mouth. I realized it wasn't grilled. Apparently, no mayo, the 'lettuce' was endive. (in my restaurant, we used that around the platters and bowls with salads everywhere decorating the salad bar. My sandwich, inedible. I took my plate back inside, to the large opening of the kitchen, facing Chef. I asked hiim to just grill it for a minute (me, forgetting legal of cross- contamination. I know better) But I explained the problem and said just put it on the grill for a minute. Cook repeated he couldn't. I realized it's the law why he couldn't take it back. MOST restaurants or cafes would have said, "Sorry, we'll make you a new sandwich. I walked back outside with my inedible sandwich where my friend was done with her meal. I tried to eat my sandwich. Couldn't. We were planning to leave, sandwich uneaten. After quite some time, the cashier ran out with a grilled sandwich-- barely toasted about 2 minutes, AND the cashier, to make ammends, probably said he'd pay for a new sandwich out of his paycheck. I got the impression from cook, and private looks toward looking like, 'what do I do now? YOU fix this!' To a person that appeared, perhaps a manager. Our cashier stood as a frightened employee behind a silent other person. Kudos for you. Avoidening all responsibility.You SAID NOTHING, DID NOTHING, AND SOLVED NOTHING. YOU DIDN'T come to my table to apologise or ask what you could to help fix this problem. For the cost of this sandwich with your apparent lack of help should cover the cost of a correctly assembled replacement sandwich and apology. I suspect the cost of my 'our meal' came out of the pocket of our dual server to help keep us as customers. I have no reason to believe the nice cook and invisible manager ( seeming to hide behind the wall) to accept any responsibility. The server did it all. Maybe Chef helped? Words, and stars cannot exress my distaste for your incompetence here. (I refer to the uninvolved 'manager.') My friend asked me not to say anything, but she probably wouldn't complain even if her food were to contain razorblades, (thank God that doesn't happen). They need to replace all their staff IMMEDIATELY! I swear these kids cannot get anything right. Went back two times to have them fix my order and they messed it up each time. I brought my wife and I dinner from there. Her sandwich was not right and mine had hardly anything on it and it was a quarter of the size of a full and I ordered half, not to mention our apples and chips were missing and we had a salad that we didn't even order. I went back to have them fix our sandwiches and they gave her another wrong sandwich and they forgot the chips and apple I ordered AGAIN! I called the manager and he was incredibly understanding so he refunded us thankfully and his service was very good, his employees just suck. We had a to go order. I'm giving a one star rating because when you order a bacon sandwich, you expect there to be enough bacon on it to be called a sandwich. See photos. Or if you order a chicken sandwich, you got it, you expect more than a bite or two of chicken. I ordered the tomato basil BLT and added caramelized onions, provolone cheese and cilantro. My husband ordered the smokehouse BBQ cheese sandwich, but they were out of the white cheddar that comes on it so he had to pay extra to put provolone on it. We also ordered a tomato soup and bacon Mac & cheese. There was actually more bacon on my bacon Mac & cheese than my sandwich. We came home and doctored up our sandwiches with cheese, lettuce more meat and then we had a sandwich. The soup and Mac & cheese were good. I don't know about you, but we work hard for our money and like to spend it wisely. However, we also like to go out to eat occasionally and support local restaurants and shops. Sadly, we will not go back to this Panera Bread because we did not get what we paid for. That was $45 not well spent. I waited for years for this place to finally open. Now that it's here, I'm disappointed. I personally have visited this place 3 or 4 times. I will share two of my experiences here. My family stopped by on opening day and got sandwiches, cookies, and cinnamon rolls (the cinnamon rolls were the number #1 thing I liked from this place and was most excited for when I heard they were opening a Panera in Medford. Keep this in mind for later in the review.) The sandwich I ordered on opening day was a favorite of mine when I lived in another state, but the sandwich I got that day was underwhelming and was dry. There wasn't nearly enough moisture in the sandwich. My husband was not very impressed with his meal, either. Considering it cost $60 for our meals and the treats for the kiddos, we just expected better. At least that day we got to enjoy some puffy, soft, gooey cinnamon rolls. Those cinnamon rolls came in special boxes to keep them from getting crushed and to keep the icing from rubbing off. Fast forward to this last month. My husband brought home cinnamon rolls for the family and we were surprised to find that the cinnamon rolls had been shoved into a regular bag. No cinnamon roll boxes, no paper sleeves like what Starbucks serves their pastries in. Nope--these cinnamon rolls were just put into a plain bag. Not only that, but the cinnamon rolls were not puffy, gooey, and delicious. They were flat, slightly crunchy, and just--not worth $6 (each!) My son didn't want cinnamon rolls (he doesn't like icing) so after an eye appointment I stopped by the Panera drive thru to get him something else. While there I asked if they were out of the cinnamon roll boxes. The girl in the drive thru said "No, we have cinnamon roll boxes." I then commented on how my husband had bought some that morning and they had been in a regular bag, which I had thought was unusual. She then handed me a takeout bag and the muffin I'd ordered was just inside by itself. I don't know how muffins are usually packaged, but really? $6 for a cinnamon roll (and $6 for a muffin) and it doesn't even come in a cinnamon roll box that you have in stock? Why? And then there's the interior. I've been to Panera Breads in Missouri and Idaho. They are classy. Leather seats, fire place, cozy professional setting. The Panera Bread in Medford? No fireplace, no comfy seats, crumbs on all the tables, and hard seats. Dry sandwiches, flat cinnamon rolls, average and unimpressive interior, and waaay more expensive than it used to be. This place is not worth it, I'm sad to say. Skip this place and go somewhere else. There's a Chick-Fil-A opening across the street soon. Hopefully that location lives up to their famed customer service. read more

Food is terrible. I don't know how they do it, but everything thing is bland. The turkey avocado club came with 1 sliver of avocado. The Cesar chicken salad came with 0 chicken. What is happening over there at Panera? I will say the everything in the kitchen cookie was delicious. I won't be back however because cookie alone just isn't enough to keep me coming. The east coast Panera has it going on. Great soups and sandwiches with good amount one the sandwich. Medford Oregon not so much.Order a tuna sandwich asked about what the portions where like to girl at the front taking my order. She said they are good and full. I order 1/2 a tuna sandwich with a cup of chicken noodle soup. I waited for the alert disk to go pick my food from the window. When I got to the window I was looking for the tuna. The sandwich was like have some bread with your tuna. No joke not exaggerating a tablespoon of tuna on 3" piece of bread with lettuce that have soggy black spots on it. Ask manger if this was what the sandwich is supposed to look like. She said what do you mean! I said where's the tuna for $7 plus dollars. Said I can have her put more on it. Soup was good luke warm. No one ever asked how it was. Manger walk by me a glared at me. I bussed my own table. They would like a tip at this place for what I don't know? Way over priced for half a bread sandwich and Luke warm soup. Set me back 13.38 and 2 dollar tip. At the soup and pick tuna off. Horrible won't be back. Really quite sad since I thought for sure it would be the same as the Shrewsbury, mass location. read more
