Curry dishes were the best I'd had in Medford, and maybe anywhere. I want to try other dishes next. I also had their young papaya salad and asked for it mild as I've discovered at other Thai restaurants Medium means HOT HOT HOT, which destroyed my tongue for about a week at the last place. Well, at Siam MILD means NO SPICE at all. I love the salad and like some spice, just not to the point where I struggle getting every bite down, and regret it later. I'll try it again with better words to describe my preference. I'm not giving up on it. I don't know if they offer a cashew chicken stir fry, but that will be the real test as it's my favorite Thai dish. I don't recall having seen it on the menu when we were there last. Very good and polite. The premises are ordinary and we use it mainly for take out. Prices are reasonable for food quality.

We had to go back on our way back to California, so we made a stop at this place again. We had ordered Tom Yum soup, which was very good, followed by garden rolls, which was freshand crunch as expected, then Mango yellow curry, which was great tasting both hot and sweet and the mango flavor came through very nicely. We ordered again their coconut ice cream we loved. Also, we got our dinner ordered to go too, spicy fried rice and pad kee mow. Needless to say, all were good as expected . When ordering fried rice, we asked them to add bell peppers carrots, etc, and they were honest and told carrots are ok, but adding bell pepper will alter the flavor. Wow, what a great service. I was introduced to Siam Cafe 16 or so years ago by a group of friends. They said it was the best Thai food in Southern Oregon. Suuure I thought. THEY WERE RIGHT!!! Siam Cafes food is my comfort food. It is rich, delicious and authentic. I even eat it in my dreams. The owner, Boo, is the sweetest as is the rest of her staff. They are funny, kind, and will go the extra mile for your requests. My favorites:Tom Yum, Panang Curry, Coconut Ice Cream(ask for toasted coconut on top). You really can't go wrong with any item in the menu. I have eaten at numerous Thai restaurants in the state and beyond and hands down this is the best there is. read more

Been going here almost weekly for a year. The Pad See-Ew is the best we've ever had, the flavors, consistency and quantity are great. The iced Thai tea is fantastic! I've had a few work lunches with a group of people there and they've all loved it. The owner also runs it and is the nicest person. Always amazing service! I usually get takeout and it's always ready when they say it is. I wish there were more veggies in the Pad See-Ew and you didn't have to pay so much to add them, but I'd rather they charge and stay in business. read more

Beware how spicy (or semi bland) the food is!!!!!!! Sorely disappointed with the service response to the shock of spice. We eat here regularly (once a month or so for YEARS) and usually get Pad Thai and always feel like the Pad Thai is a little on the bland side, so this time we asked for a little spice for the Pad Thai. We were then informed that the levels range from 1 - 5. With a scale like this, we assumed one (1) is the 'usual' no spice, slightly bland dish we're used to and five (5) being Thai hot. We ordered a 1 & a 2 Pad Thai orders. Only to have our taste buds killed with spice. One (1) is NOT mild, it is unbelievably spicy and two (2) was too spicy to eat. We called back and were told to shove off, we ordered it so we're stuck with it. Completely dismissed and quite rudely so. If you have a spice scale and tell us (REGULARS) that it ranges from 1-5, they need to tell us how it usually comes (she didn't say so, but a zero must exist?!?!?!???). The lack of customer service care or compassion after charging an unbelievable amount for what was supposed to be a nice meal out was frustrating and stuck us without a meal for one of us. It's hard to continue to support a restaurant who treats patrons this way. We don't think we will continue to until this sort of customer service changes. read more

Found this places based on reviews and decided to stop by for some good Thai food. Food: The taste and flavor was just okay but the price to quantity ratio was poor. Ordered the bbq beef, came with a underwhelming amount of beef. The pad Thai lacked flavor and too soggy. Service: The food was on time but the service was bad. The person who served us was very rude, but surprisingly very cheerful to customers who seemed to be local. Not sure what the attitude was about. Overall if you are in the area I'd suggest looking elsewhere for a good meal. I don't know how this place has high reviews!! My guess, the reviews are from the previous owners time and things went downhill after the change. read more

I figured an update was in order since the new owners took over from Boo a while ago. The quality and quantity immediately changed and the flavors were gone. This just isn't the same Siam anymore. Stopped here for take-out half-way from Seattle to San Francisco. What an amazing find! I ordered Garlic Shrimp and Scallops. The jumbo shrimp were firm and the small scallops were perfect. My wife ordered Pumpkin Curry with pork. She said it was excellent, I agree. We took take-out to a park in Medford for a short but pleasant break. Looking forward to returning. read more

I got the Thai iced tea, small Angel Wings, Prik-Poa Seafood & Banana Roll for dessert. The tea was pretty good, the angel wings were delicious! Boneless, stuffed with meat & veggies w/glass noodles then deep fried and a sweet/sour sauce topped with cabbage, carrot, cucumber & peanut! The sea food was very fresh, soft - the flavor reminded me of a sweet massaman curry. The squid wasn't rubbery, melted in my mouth. The scallops were nice and juicy, the mussels had a fresh ocean taste but not pungent! The rice was cook well & the shrimp were nice and beefy. The banana roll was great, sweet banana in a wonton wrap topped with caramelized sweetened coconut. That was the best seafood dish I've had in a while! read more

Updating since the restaurant changed hands. I came here regularly for 20 years and it was my favorite restaurant. Now I'm disappointed by the price hike and the lack of quality. They changed the menu too, some of my favorite items aren't available any more. And nothing will ever compare to Boo's bbq chicken. I ordered the pad thai and fried wontons for lunch. The pad Thai was good to excellent but the fried wontons had so little filling that I didn't feel like I got the value for what I paid. Medford Siam Thai Cafe is our favorite restaurant in Medford. The food is always fresh and flavorful, cooked to perfection. Even when the restaurant is busy, Tuk (the owner) and her family are welcoming and friendly. My husband's favorite dishes are Pad Thai, Sweet and Sour, Orange Ginger Chicken and many of the curry bowls. My favorites are Peanut Sauce Green Beans, Stir fry Mixed Vegetables and the Garden Rolls. The portions are substantial and my husband and I often share. Did I mention their homemade ice cream? I love their coconut milk ice cream!!! We eat at Medford Siam Thai Cafe twice a week and it is our favorite place for family and friend birthdays and celebrations. We always feel welcome and are never disappointed!! Ordered takeout, and it was done in a timely manner. The lady who took our order was very nice and read my order back to me. We ordered the special orange ginger with chicken, pad Thai with shrimp, Siam rolls, shrimp rolls, and Siam fried rice. My husband was sad when he saw the small amount of orange ginger chicken. The takeout container contained mostly a basic iceberg lettuce salad. I gave him part of my meal so he wouldn't be hungry. The Pad Thai was just ok. All of the rice noodles were stuck together in a gloop, and I had to use a knife to separate them. The spices were nice. The chicken in the Siam roll and the fried rice was dry. The rice in the fried rice was too moist. As for the shrimp roll... it was a bunch of mush fried, yuck! and Just like the Siam roll, over fried. How the dickens they are getting such good reviews is beyond me. Still searching for that elusive spectacular Thai restaurant! I used to love this place, I recommended it to everyone - even just a couple days ago. I'm not sure what happened. Did the owners change? Did they get new cooks? The food is mediocre now, the portions are much smaller, but the price is the same. You get way less of the good things and tons more of the filler like sliced carrots and onions. How expensive can rice be? They've removed some of their best sellers from the menu, I don't know why. I'm super bummed, Siam Cafe used to have the best Thai food in town. Last night's visit was not good. The owner took our order and it was clear she was not happy. We ordered 3 items...Pad Thai Beef, BBQ Chicken and the Orange Ginger Chicken Special. The restaurant was fairly busy but not full. After a few minutes, they brought out one item, the BBQ Chicken. We were underwhelmed by it's appearance. The chicken was extremely dry, cut up weird had burnt black mushy things in the rib cage, that was possibly the organs (?) and the vegetables were flavorless. So as disappointing as this was, we were hopeful that the next item, whenever they decided to bring that out, would be better. About 15 minutes later, the 2nd item was brought to us. This was the Orange Ginger Chicken. It was good but a very small portion, definitely not enough for two. Still waiting on the pad thai beef. We asked the server where it was and she went to check. 15 or so minutes later, they brought it out. Another disappointment! Immediately noticed the smell was off. It sort of smelled like that flaky tropical fish food. The beef looked like Steak-Umms and the noodles were basically just a clump of oily spaghetti. So I decided to talk with the owner privately, as to not cause a scene. She came to the table instead and proceeded to argue with us! She had excuses for everything, even suggesting that we must have been there under the old owner...umm nope! She never offered any kind of remedy for the situation. We offered to pay for the 2 dinner items, but definitely not the pad thai, as it was obvious something was wrong with it. Still, she argued. So, after going back and forth for a few minutes, and causing the scene I had wanted to avoid, she says, YOU decide what you want to pay for and then just stared at us. Finally, she says you don't pay for anything. So we left, and we will definitely not be going back. Hope this helps to save you your time and hard earned money! I visit Medford frequently and have had take out from here before, but I had never been in the cafe. Such a cute, simple little family run cafe right in the heart of downtown. I have never eaten in the cafe itself and on my most recent visit in town, I stopped in with my host on the pick up. The food has always been tasty and freshly made. My local hosts have their favorite meals which they usually order. I have shared some of theirs and had the pineapple fried rich with chicken, the spring rolls, the potstickers, the fried wontons and a few other meat dishes I can't remember from previous trips. The tofu yellow curry is a fave of one family member. It's always a nice to get a meal from here, an inexpensive option, supporting a nice little family eatery in Medford. read more

Was introduced to Siam café by a friend. It's a tiny hole in the wall with the most amazing thai you can imagine. I moved from Los Angeles where the options for thai food and all kids off food really, are endless.. so I know '' good food''. My favorite is the beef red curry. The portions are perfect and they ask you what level of spicy you want your curry at. My daughter loves the shrimp friend rice and appetizers Siam egg rolls. Meh...but maybe I just ordered the wrong things. I had an order of their Thai style eggrolls (wrapped in rice paper roll) and tofu pad Thai. The eggrolls were hot and freshly fried but very small and oily. I felt like I ate more rice paper roll than the filling. The pad thai was also very lacking in flavor...or maybe the right flavor...I had to remake my leftovers by adding tons of fish sauce. What was especially disappointing was that the tofu pieces were tiny and not fresh! It's pretty clear when tofu is freshly fried - there's a pillowy texture to it and when you bite in, oil should gush out! But these pieces were over fried and likely left out because all the air deflated from them and you're left with dense chunks of tofu. I think I had a few pieces that were rancid too... Service was good though and the food came out fast. Maybe their other dishes are good? They also serve Chinese food if you're not looking for Thai...at a Thai restaurant. read more
