This place smells rancid when you walk in. The place and bathrooms are not clean and the food was bland. Customer service was bad and it was way too expensive. I came here because my husband and I were craving an iced Thai Coffee and our usual Thai place was closed. We decided to come here, and we ordered off the lunch menu, which is a nice value price wise. Unfortunately on the day we were there they had no Thai coffee! We were definitely bummed out about that, but ordered a Thai iced tea instead and it was really good, so we were happy about that. Our lunches we ordered 2 different curries, and we were told they had run out of potatoes, so they substituted broccoli, and taste wise the meals were delicious! I loved my coconut curry sauce, and my husband loved his too. I'm glad I gave this place another chance, as I had previously been disappointed, but they are not bad at all, and I would definitely come here again in the future! read more

Worst Thai food I've ever had in my life. Hands down. I have no idea what people were thinking giving this place a high rating. We ordered the appetizer combo and it was over cooked and under-flavored. They attempted to spice it up with leftover cucumber salad thrown in a tiny bowl with some chopped peanuts sprinkled over it for some sort of flavor to dip it in. The main meals were BEYOND overheated! Way too hot to even taste! I think that was purposely done to scorch our taste buds enough to not know the difference. The first was some semblance of a beef broccoli combo with peanut sauce that was a combination of low grade chunky peanut butter and gravy flour. The consistency and flavor was disgusting! The other was their chicken pad Thai. NO flavor unless you like the smell of heated-up canned dog food and a flavor I'm sure was similar. We picked out the edible parts and paid early and left. She was going to bring us to-go boxes and we told her we don't need them. This place is an absolute joke which was shocking to see the higher ratings. Ordered take-out Pad Kee Mow and Pad Thai, each with $5 extra beef making each meal $17. After taking them out of the bags, I noticed a significant difference in weight between the two. They made the Kee Mow with friggin' ramen noodles! Also, the amount of extra meat in each was unnoticable, looked like a normal amount of meat if compared to other Asian restaurants. Why am I still hungry after eating one of these meals? I'm 5'10 160 lbs skinny male. The beef was so bland and tough I think they just boiled it. Tough, flavorless beef. The flavors of each dish taste nothing like Thai food, it's most definitely American. Far too salty and not spicy, even with their hot chili oil. Egg rolls look like frozen pre made rolls bought from Sysco and the sauce is like juice it's so runny, but they're tasty. read more

My family and I have been coming here since we moved to Oregon in the early nineties. I cannot express how much we appreciate the hospitality and the amazing food. It's truly the best Thai food we've had anywhere in the state, and we consider ourselves to be experienced in Thai food eating lol I love the quiet little place when I do dine in. But they always get my order right when I get takeout. I hope they stay open, always, because they're a small business who deserves our business. read more

We've lived here for over three years and finally decided to try Royal Barge for dinner tonight. SO GOOD! Hubby had pad thai with chicken, and I had the royal rice with cashews, pineapple, shrimp and onion. We both had Thai iced teas. We were impressed that the food was served HOT, still steaming, and made fresh just for us. Huge portions, so much so that we'll be able to get another dinner out of what we had tonight. Easy-peasy parking, either on the street or in a nearby corner lot. Friendly service, and the server also honored my request to put a bit more curry sauce in my rice. Also, my shrimp was perfectly cooked, and the bean sprouts in the pad thai were perfectly stir fried -- lightly cooked and not crunchy raw! Clean and cozy atmosphere -- loved the red twinkling lights inside! After trying three other Thai restaurants in our town, we have now found "our" Thai restaurant and will be returning sooner than later. :) read more

Will not come back. This place literally has bugs crawling. One bug jump into my arm. I freaking lost my appetite. We told the lady she didn't seem to care. There's also an old woman sleeping in the back of the restaurant. I understand you guys are trying to make a living but you are a restaurant. When we first walked in I was a little worried; hodgepodge decor and an overwhelming smell of mold, mildew, and cleaning products. The menus were old with the lamination peeling off. But, we had just taken a jet boat ride and were too hungry to look elsewhere for another place to eat - plus we had our hearts set on Thai. Since there were other good reviews we thought we should stay and give this place a chance. Good thing we did!! The food was very flavorful and delicious! We ordered the Massaman curry with tofu, pad see ew, chicken chow mein, and pad thai. The curry and pad see ew were delicious. My daughter loved the chicken chow mein, and my husband said the pad thai was ok (not spectacular - but ok). We also ordered the Yum Tofu - that is awesome...loved the lime flavor. If you can tolerate the initial smell when you walk in you will be in for a culinary treat! read more

Gluten-free and vegan options, with servers who know the deal. Nice! I went here on New Year's Eve with a small group of friends. The restaurant was not too busy, but they were understaffed. It took 40min to have our order taken and another 40 for it to arrive at our table. But the sake was hot and the food tasted good. About an hour after eating, however, the three of us who ordered some sort of tofu started feeling sick to our stomachs, and that lasted all the way through our New Year. After checking into our hotel, my friend and I went to find food -- we ordered a TON of stuff and we were pretty happy with it. We had tempura asparagus (yum!), we had two different veggie dishes that were kind of the same but still delicious and they have excellent beers available. There was also a singer/guitarist performing which was really nice (he even had his own trio of groupies!). Top notch service. Came for lunch, had the yellow curry. It was super good, and the woman who waited on me was awesome and very personable and attentive. I asked for the curry with no carrots- She asked if i wanted to sub for broccoli instead, which NO Thai restaurant has ever offered. I took her up on her offer. When she brought my meal to the table she said "I really hope you enjoy your meal!" It wasn't sincere or overdone. Just genuine and nice. Good food, good service. Worth 5 stars. read more

I've ordered chicken broccoli pad Thai medium twice from here now, and have been let down. Each time I have not received noodles. I let it go, but this second time has been an even bigger disappointment. The staff is amazing and personable, but the service is sub par now that I've had two to-go orders incomplete. I am still am without any seasoning or noodles on a broccoli chicken pad Thai. I recommend eating jn to double check your order, as I have a soupy container of chicken and broccoli, and no pad Thai. There is an obvious disconnect between the staff and kitchen. It saddens me because the staff is amazing, but the lack of complete orders twice makes me want to defer to another restaurant. read more

This is not a review. This is a warning. I literally downloaded the Yelp app so I could make sure people know not to go here. The only reason I gave it two stars is because the food is delicious... But you have to hear my story. I went here two years ago with my parents. While eating a spring roll, I bit down on something hard. I spat it out, and I'm not totally sure what it was, but it was about two centimeters long and made of metal (it sort of looked like a staple). I was freaked out. The wait staff just kind of shrugged and didn't do anything about it. I swore I'd never go back, but my mom took me there today. Not realizing where I was at first, I entered. Then it hit me. I ordered the pad thai, convincing myself that I'd pick through it carefully to make sure there wasn't any metal in it... And whaddaya know! A plastic wrapper was hiding in there. Look... The noodle house moved to join Royal Barge. The noodle house was one of my sons fav places to go. Sadly the Royal Barge did not keep the food the same and portions were smaller. One of our meals came out when all of us were done eating. The restaurant is really dirty and seats are in poor repair. Waitress was very nice but we will not be returning. My favorite restaurant in Grants Pass. The food is consistently good, but not to be confused with world class, and the portions plentiful. The lunch specials are a bargain at $4.95 and include a salad and egg roll. On the dinner menu, I recommend the Pra Ram Rong Srong (#53) brocolli with your choice of chicken, beef or tofu in a medium spicy peanut sauce over rice. ($7.50) The peanut sauce is really what it's all about. This stuff rocks!! The owner (Boy) is a doll. When he's working, he's cooking and he'll often come out to greet customers and make sure everything is to their liking. A very relaxed homey atmosphere with friendly waitstaff and very, very inexpensive. read more

I should have taken a picture of my Pad Kee Mao. I really should have. Everyone knows pad kee mao (drunken noodles) are made with thick rice noodles. Right? Especially a Thai restaurant would know this...right? No. My pad kee mao were made with RAMEN NOODLES. Yes...like ramen noodle soup. ie very thin very curly tangle of ramen. What..???? Now if I had eaten at the restaurant I would have asked to get something else once I saw this. But no, I got my take out order then went back to the hotel, where I saw the cardboard box of dread. So I ate it...the veggies in it were good and fresh, but it tasted nothing like pad kee mao. It tasted like Top Ramen with the water drained out with some steamed veggies thrown in. Seriously. Like exactly like that. The seasoning and all. Anyways, I don't know what the heck happened here. I was and still am confused about this shenanigan. I didn't care to call and tell about it, as I was in Grants Pass on vacay, so I just won't go back again. Simple. And also the older lady in the front of the house who took my order was very rude and couldn't make eye contact. After a few days on vacation through the Redwoods, we stopped by Grants Pass for lunch. My kids desperately craved some good Asian food as they were so over seafood and kid's meals at most other restaurants. Saw the great reviews on TripAdvisor so we stopped by. The food and the service was amazing. The very nice lady who was the only server was very prompt in getting our order and made sure we were taken care of. Would highly recommend the lunch special BBQ chicken for about $7 which is a quartered chicken seasoned with Thai herbs and BBQ. Comes with salad, side of fried rice and egg roll. I had ended up sharing the chicken with my children. Also would recommend the shrimp tempura. Batter was very light and crunchy. Food was so good that my 9 year wanted us to go back once we had dinner at a fusion Asian restaurant in Ashland. She was not of a fan of fancy Asian fusion food. read more
