Despicable customer service. I showed up (on time) for my app today. They couldn't find it in the system due to an error on their part. Even after showing my confirmation, Marty did not hesitate before telling me that there is no way my pup could be seen today. I was visibly upset, explaining to her that I had driven quite a distance to their location, and my dog is not feeling well. She did not care at all. She said they already had a 2:30 appt coming in. By this point it was already 2:35, so I asked what happens if they don't show up. Marty informed me that we still could not be seen. No empathy. No compassion No kindness. My initial impression was great. My mother's dog was having allergy issues. I dropped him off and received a call from the vet. She was kind, great, presented options and informed me to choose meds or a shot. 2 weeks later he runs out of pills and I call to set up an appointment for the treatment plan. I was told the vet I spoke to was essentially a relief doctor and not part of their regular team. Due to this they stated I would need to do the initial consultation over and pay. From my perspective it seems I used the free consult appointment the last time and they were looking for reasons to get a non coupon charge for services. It surprises me that they actually think I should have to pay more for the staff choices they make. It is quite ridiculous. I ended up contacting his regular vet who informed me they don't recommend the shots as they can effect the pet's health. Currently deciding if we should change veterinarians. My experience goes like this. Appointment was at 9:30am, early and out the way. I take him there and they get him in right away (eager to lock in the $). We discuss what he needs and what it'll cost, and I'm out in 15 minutes. I call at 12pm to check how it is going because it is taking longer than usual. They say he's not done (this is because they don't service by time of arrival instead by work needed). I explain I have to be at work at 1:30pm. After being on hold they told me to come in 30-40 minutes (this means they are now going to try and start helping him). I get there at 1pm and they try to tell me it takes time to do a heart worm test so it'll take more time (this is a red herring. they didn't start helping him). I say that's fine we'll reschedule and I'll just pay for vaccines he got. They then say he actually hasn't gotten anything. After working out situation with my job to get off of work to come back at 4pm, they say he will be ready by then and that I have to be there before 5pm because they close early (I am trying to give them more time and they are telling me I have less time). I get a call later at 2pm from doctor saying they are having a hard time giving him shots and they need to give him a sedative which will be an extra $240 (we have been here before for regular and vaccine appointments and have never needed that). I say I can be there in 30 minutes to calm him down and it'll be fine but the doctor says that I will take too long and it would back up other appointments (because at this point F* my appointment). I have been to this Banfield location and others before. I have had successful appointments. But it is setup so they can get in as many dogs as possible and let the chips fall where they may. The doctor decided to cut his losses with us because 1 upset owner is better than the next 2 upset. While this experience was terrible, it is hard to say whether or not the other ones balance it all out. I understand work can be hectic. I know about work issues, this mess caused me one. I went 3 times in less than 6 hours and the front desk girl couldn't be bothered to remember my name, face, dog, or what I was there for. With so many customers and dogs, whatever I guess at least she said sorry for the trouble (I'm kidding of course she didn't say sorry that would take accountability from them). I've had bad experiences at places before, but what compelled me to write this is that once we stepped out the store, Shadow was peeing on tree and crying. I can only imagine he was thinking what did he do to deserve being treated how he was. That's enough for me. April 25 my family extended. My kids finally got rewarded the dog after 1 year of looking. I had got a precious 7 week old puppy name Rollie. April 28 I took him to pet smart and purchase more than I few items. I also purchase plan from Bandfield for Rollie and got shots in a deworming pill. Deworming pill was subscribed by doctor of Bandfield and was Told to administered to Rollie. When I gave Rollie pill everything went wrong after . He became sick and throwing up . I took him back to Bandfield and was told to give 24 hours! And it had been 48 hours he hadn't eat nor drink . I brought back and vet said to give him rice in his food and put Pedialyte in his water. He explained Rollie could have had a bad reaction to pill. He also explained that they have no more of knowing reaction until after it administered.After calling and was told to give it another 24 hours Later that day he couldn't walk! My kids were devastated and crying literally watching Rollie lose strength and sense of awareness. Later that night Rollie had past away smh. My kids were absolutely crush. I went to work and kids to school. I had to leave early cause one of kids went to counselor office cause he couldn't handle losing Rollie. I called Bandfield to tell them the devasting news and they referred my to customer service !! Where I was told I had to pay about $200 to cancel plan and pay for shots!!!! And they that they need notes in Rollie's file from vet saying what happpen. I called the manager and she said she would get those notes in and if I decided to get about her dog she'll just switch dogs on plans . And she refund the pill because doctor said like he said to me it probably was the pill. I then call Bandfield and they still wanted me to pay bill with vet notes !!!!I later started receiving calls and letters of unpaid bill!! I do not believe I should pay for anything!!! They should be paying me for pain and suffering , harrassment , refunding all my money , and killing my dog. Honest don't know which shots or pill kill my Rollie. I quickly switched locations because I pay to much money not to be taken care off politely. Don't recommend this location at all. We pay the monthly fee for care for our two doggos. One of them might have a bad hot spot. He's gnawing on his leg and the hair is gone. I called and asked for an appointment or to come in and wait to be fit in to the schedule. I was told no appointments for FIVE DAYS! My dog is limping and stopped eating. We had a terrible experience. From the first consult, it was like we were in a time-share presentation. All we wanted was our 12 y/o dog teeth cleaned, we rescued her 9.5 years ago. They instructed we would need a consult first, which we did and were presented constantly w/ dental and wellness plans. Then they were trying to sell expensive multivitamins. And then asked about getting an ear culture b/c she had some dirt in one of her ears (she is totally asymptomatic and there was no purulent drainage). Also, she informed us when they start the cleaning, we would need to be around a phone b/c if they needed to pull some teeth, they would get our permission first and would be an additional charge. I wish I would have read reviews first and after the first consult went somewhere else. So we brought our dog for a cleaning. They did not inform us that there would be an additional consult fee the day of cleaning (an additional $40 we were not aware of). They did call us about lab work, one of her liver enzymes was elevated, and they wanted to perform additional hundreds of dollars for more lab work. We said today the lab work was not a priority on that day and we would address with her vet later. Dr Tanner was very rude, insinuating we did not care for our dog, almost bullying us. He then called later and said she needed 5 teeth pulled, another several hundred dollars. So the teeth pulling and the liver enzymes would be near $900. My husband said we don't have that much money, Dr Tanner then said he would not do the teeth but pressed on for the liver testing (which made us think the removal of teeth was not really necessary). We said no to both, just do the cleaning and call us when she is ready. We did not hear from them. My husband called at 5:15, they said she had been ready for some time (worries me they would have kept her overnight and charged us boarding fee). When he came to pick her up, there was an additional $23 dollar fee for post op pain, which was supposed to be in the fee they already charged us, it was included in the itemized statement they gave us. We did not get a receipt for the $23 and it was not on the administration records of her care. We then asked for the lab results, the front desk lady sighed and rolled her eyes. She did give us the labs. Also included was the medical summary. Dr Tanner put in his note two questions asked to my husband: Has pet been to vet and when were last vaccinations? Dr Tanner put in the note my husband stated "could not remember" which is a lie. We brought our recent vet records to the initial consult and they dates for the vaccines were entered into the computer by the front office person. One week later, our dog's teeth do look amazing and she is doing well. I am sooooo glad we did not consent to pulling of her teeth. Thank God she did not go through that unnecessary trauma. read more

I have been going to banfield for 9 years. My pet is on an optimum wellness plan and has been the entire time. I like Banfield because of it's focus on well care. My pet has a heart murmur that was discovered at her 2nd 6 month check up. When I was taking her to a private vet I was only told to bring her in once a year. If I had kept going there, her heart murmur may have been caught too late. I love the Austell location because of it's friendly staff and caring vets. I have seen them all! Dr. Tanner is very gentle with my little old lady. Dr. Taylor takes her time in explaining important things about my pet, and Dr. Hone always makes me feel like I am in good hands. I would recommend this location to everyone! I will come back here forever! read more

Brought in my newly adopted kitty today. Animal control said she was feral, but based on how I had been getting along with her, not ENTIRELY feral and coming around with some gentle touch and calm interactions. She had already been spayed while in the care of animal control, and given a rabies shot. I wanted to take her in to address a possible URI and get her tested for FeLV and Feline Aids. Immediately they tried to up-sell us on insurance. The tech or assistant who had no idea why the kitten's ear was "tipped" (they do this to ferals to show theyr'e fixed so that they don't need to be recaptured if returned to outdoor living), proceeded to pick the scab off and cause her to bleed. When the vet came in she sort of scolded the tech for picking at it. I was able to hold my own kitten without her scratching or hissing or anything, while the vet listened to her heart and lungs. I stated for now that I simply just wanted to get her tested for any contagious diseases, as I have other cats at home. I also said, she would do well to just hold her snug around her shoulders covered in a towel and that she does NOT tolerate scruffing (I have the scratches to prove it). I'm not sure why they can't draw blood in the room where she was already at, because she was already calm in that room, and there was nowhere to escape. Instead, they put TWO leashes cinched around her neck and then wrapped her in a fleece blanket and brought her behind closed doors where we could not see. Within moments you could hear my kitten howling and hear her scrambling on the metal exam table back there, and someone yelling at her saying "We're not going to do this! We're not going to do this!" My husband immediately opened the "Clinic Staff Only Door" to the back room and saw them frantically trying to hold her, WHILE SCRUFFING her as she twisted violently and scrambled away, to get INSIDE of their x-ray machine. INSIDE OF IT. He immediately said "Just stop! We're done... give her to me, we're leaving". Then they proceeded to call my husband back to see if he could lure her out himself. Which turned into him having to partially remove a panel just to retrieve her. I understand scruffing is a thing, but I forewarned them that she doesn't tolerate it, and that she would let you do pretty much anything whilst she is on a firm surface. The MOMENT the tech picked her scab and caused her to bleed, I knew I had made a mistake taking her to Banfield. I should have just waited for availability at my normal vet, but I was anxious to get her cleared for contagious diseases. I don't understand why they would bring ANY animal that's about to have blood drawn or be under any similar stress into an open area of the clinic that if they did escape, there are too many places to hide. The exam room was confined and she was VERY calm in the room. Just NOT happy at all with my experience. I will never step foot in that clinic again. read more

Not a place I'd come back to. My appointment was for 3:15 and my 13 year old dog and I were kept waiting for an hour! When I question the staff they acted as if I insulted them. If hadn't urgently needed medicine for my aging dog, I would have walked out. This is what happens when you take away local ownership. These people get paid the same amount whether I have come back or not. There is no incentive to have good customer service. And boy, they do NOT have good customer service. They are a nice group of people and have been pretty good to the dogs. I sought out alternative advice about the way to prevent the dogs from recovering after they where spayed and neutered, because keeping them in the kennel 23.5 hours a day for 10 days would have drove then crazy. One of the vets was particularly concerned with the health of the rescue dogs and seemed to genuinely care about them. read more

Don't ever go to the Banfield on Austell rd in Austell,Ga. I called in on a Friday requesting an appointment for my sick pet for Sunday was told by the staff they had a 1pm appointment available on Sunday. When I get to my suppose to be appointment I was told by the staff I didn't have an appointment. I told the staff member I did have one because I called in and made one on Friday. he made a comment as to say I didn't call them.. which was a LIE. However when he did look in the system he saw where I called an explain to the staff member my concerns for my pet but then he goes on to say I missed my appointment on Friday and I told him I didn't because I clearly asked for Sunday because one I was at work that day and I have always brought my pet in on the weekends. Make a long story short they refused to see my sick animal and I had to take the fall for their staff screw-up mine you I'm there upset not sure what's going on with my dog and this place that's supposed to be a dog clinic turn me away.. wow! did I mention I pay monthly for a wellness program.. FYI let me give you all some customer service lesson when you have a customer that was obviously given the wrong information take ownership of the mess and accommodate the customer especially when you see the customer is upset and the dog is ill. I have been taking my dog to banefield in Marietta for several years. I recently took my second dog to the Austell location. The Doctor is very nice and my dog responded well to him. But the receptionist is extremely rude. Every time I come in and deal with the lady up front she acts rude and put out. I came to my appointment on time and she promptly started fussing at me that I was EXTREMELY early I informed her I was not. She said my appointment was at 10:15 not 10:00 I showed her my text message alerts stating correct time. She just fussed about system never apologized for rude behavior. I sat down and I watched as she was rude to the next customer and elderly lady with an elderly dog. Today I called to check on status of them calling in refill for my dogs medication at my pharmacy, Unfortunately I got the same Lady Teresa, again rude she pretty much fussed at me that the Doctors are busy with patients and when they have an opportunity then they will check their messages and get back to me whenever they are free from clients and patients in store.As if I am putting her out and my pet isn't important because I am not in store. I understand in house usually come first she didn't have to be so rude and trying to make me feel like I am beneath her time. On other visits I am still greeted with A rude attitude. I believe I will just switch my 2nd pet to the Marietta location. Staff and Dr.s there are super nice. I like my vet at Austell but do not want to deal the snotty front desk staff. read more
