Banfield was a great experience with one exception. I needed to get a health certificate for a domestic flight this weekend and I called last weekend to see if this was something they could do. I called and the receptionist was very rude, she told me that it would take at least 10 days to get the certificate (something about mailing to NY). For anyone that hasn't traveled with a pet, you need a health certificate from a vet within 10 days of your flight, so when I brought this up to the receptionist, all she could say was "well your dog is a new patient and we don't have openings for another two weeks". WRONG AGAIN. I made a new patient appointment online for 4 days after I called. I called again, thankfully didn't get the same lady and I explained that I needed a certificate for interstate travel. The receptionist wasn't sure but asked her manager if this was possible and they said it could be done the same day (this is typical for interstate travel certificates). I arrived today to my appointment and the receptionist wasn't sure if we could get a travel certificate today, and the lady next to her (who I presume was the rude lady I spoke to on the phone days ago) immediately said "she needs a drop off appointment. That will take all day." And I told them that I had called earlier to ensure that I could get a health certificate today and I only needed it for interstate travel. The rude lady kept insisting that even for interstate travel I needed at least 10 days to process the certificate. Finally we got one of the technicians to confirm they could get me a certificate today and everything went smoothly. Everyone else was really nice but I'm not sure why that one receptionist has such an attitude about something that she clearly knows nothing about. TLDR you can get a health certificate for interstate travel on the same day within 10 days of your flight! Don't listen to the rude receptionist who tells you otherwise read more

Posting a poor review and hoping I get responses. I was taking my dog to Banfield Animal Hospital- I had signed the puppy up for the pet insurance. I chose a plan that included neutering. Almost a year of paying $116 a month I started talking about the nursing of my dog - the insurance covered 100%. I was told by the vet they would not neutering my dog unless some $800 test was done - which was not covered by the insurance (not medically necessary). I went to two other vets, dogs neutered no $800 lab work need. When i spoke with the vets they wouldn't say the $800 lab was unnecessary- the politest one put it, ' error on the side of caution'. My housemate has a 17 yr old cat - rescue. The cat still goes to Banfield and has an elderly health plan. We call yesterday to schedule an appointment and we may have to put her down. The cat has labored breathing but other signs or indicators of pain are not present, yet. To humanely put your animal down is covered under the health policy - the best the can do is late afternoon Sat or Sun, but suggested pet ER'S were we could take her and pay. My mother recently took my dog to banfield for me because he had a lump in his mouth and she asked for it to be surgically removed and to have his teeth cleaned.the vet gave my mother some kind of quote that I was unaware of.the vet called me and said I don't feel comfortable performing the surgery on this mass and it is going to be much more expensive than I told your mom.this was right before the fourth of july weekend by the time we got him in to another hospital it had grown bigger and spread up his mouth and was cancer and we had to put him down.they claim they can remove a mass but I found out they can not.when I call most of the time they don't answer the phone and sometimes they return your call but a lot of times they don't. Stay away from Banfield. My cat received subpar service here, and I feel bad that I continued to bring him. I was convinced their wellness plans made it worth it. I had brought my cat in a few times because he was limping, it looked like a hurt knee. Each time, the vet insisted it would be OK and he would walk it off. Eventually, he stopped getting better. Then the banfield vet told me he had a "severely luxated patella". He needed surgery. Well, all the symptoms were there and described accurately, but the vet insisted that he just needed to stop jumping. Good luck telling a cat that! Anyway, he then required surgery which could've been avoided had he taken the symptoms more seriously earlier. I wish that was my only issue with Banfield, but late last year my cat started to lose a lot of weight. His eating slowed. I brought him in numerous times, and no diagnosis. They did think it was his teeth, but he had a more recent issue to that and it did not point to the prior weight loss. Finally, after what ended up being too late, we brought my cat to Angell animal hospital in JP and they gave him better care as his weight had dropped too much and he was refusing to eat. I caution anyone to use Banfield because they seem to ignore symptoms even when given extensive descriptions. And buyer beware with the wellness programs. Your dear pet can pass away and you're stuck paying the premiums since it's considered a "wellness plan" and not insurance. What a crock. I've been waiting to write this review until we knew for sure we would not be returning to Banfield, and today is the day! We started going to Banfield last January and joined the "Optimum Wellness Plan." They make it seem like an all inclusive subscription, which it is certainly not. They also told us we would have 24/7 hour access to veterinary staff. Our first issue with Banfield came when our dog had an emergency after clinic hours. We went to access the "24/7 hour care" where we then were forced to download an app, only to then find out the 24/7 hour care is actually just a chat bot that doesn't actually help you in any way. We were already on our way to the hospital and our dog ended up being fine. However, Banfield did not check in on Obie until 3 days later when they saw the chat. Our second issue came with the vaccines. They are incredibly unorganized about instructing you about when to return for your next vaccines. Our dog missed a vaccine because we were not told to return by a certain date, and had to repeat the series which they then told us would not be covered by the optimum wellness plan. We were told their practice manager would contact us about a possible refund and we never heard from them. Further, Banfield LOVES to send out marketing emails and yet they haven't figured out how to send a push notification via email or text that a vaccine is due. Interesting! Our third and final issue came this past week when our dog was prescribed trazodone after a procedure. His third night he experienced some bobbing of his head that would stop when I called his name, and lasted about a minute. I brought him in the next day and they insisted they needed to run $230 bloodwork that is not covered by the OWP. When I asked why, the vet tech began to talk to me in the most condescending tone I've ever endured. She told me they "needed to make sure that he didn't get into something." When I explained that a CBC/CMP would not check for that, she began to explain to me what a chemistry blood panel is as if I was a toddler. When I asked if they could just run the blood chemistries instead of both tests, she kept repeating over and over that it was their protocol for seizure. Mind you, I asked 3 times throughout this experience if I could just talk to the vet to explain to understand their thinking as to why it was a seizure if he was able to stop and respond when I called his name, and they kept saying that the vet could not talk to me until "later" aka after they had performed the $230 blood work. We ended up leaving and stopping the trazodone and he has not had another episode. I work as a Family Nurse Practitioner and if anyone at my front desk spoke to a patient the way I was spoken to, I would be so embarrassed for my practice. Further, If I ordered a test on a pediatric patient that was $230 and the family member just wanted an explanation to my thinking and why they needed it, I would certainly take 2-3 minutes to come and explain my thinking and differentials to them. They didn't even come and take a full history from me. I am so beyond done with Banfield. They do not care about your pets, only about making money. read more

We had to put our dog to sleep and it was a very hard thing to do. When we walked in Sean immediately took us to a room and we didn't even tell him our names or why we were there yet. He was expecting us. He was really amazing. Then we had Stephany who took such great care of us and our dog. She was so attentive and compassionate. Then Dr Cone answered all our questions and helped us through the entire procedure. They were all so amazing and made a terrible day a little easier for us. I didn't get the name of the girl who helped me book the appointment she was wonderful as well she was able to give me one more day with our boy when I called to change the day last minute. I've been going to this banfield for almost 10 years. We have the wellness plan since day one. The vets and staff are very nice in person but scheduling has always been an issue. If you schedule drop off in the morning no problem but if you schedule a regular appointment time seems irrelevant to them. Today I had an appointment. I called in the morning to confirm and asked to have the vet check his gums because I dropped $1,100 a couple of months ago for 2 tooth extractions. We were there for shots. When we got there I asked again at checkin. His appointment was 30 minutes late and when he came out I asked about his gums. I was told no one to look at them then but I could wait. Unacceptable service then and despite the wellness plan still had to pay for heartworm shot at $41.64. You'd think that this would be covered since every dog needs heartworm coverage. If my dog wasn't 10 I'd be looking elsewhere for vet service. Staff is very nice but obviously understaffed at the consumer's level read more

I used Banfield in California (Rohnert Park - which was amazing!), so when I moved out to MA, I made an appointment at Banfield in Braintree. My experience was vastly different in the two areas. The day prior to my 3:30 appointment, I get a call to verbally confirm to the appointment - only problem is that this occurs at 9 am and 2:06 pm, in the middle of the work day when I can't readily answer my phone (I work in the schools and have students in my office all day). In neither of the messages (nor the confirmation e-mail) do they state that they need to confirm BEFORE 2 PM or they cancel and schedule over you. So when I called back at 2:15 (not even 10 minutes after they called a second time) and more than 24 hours before the appointment time, they inform me that they have already canceled and scheduled over the appointment. I have waited a month for this appointment only to be dropped immediately due to procedure they don't bother to share with the clients. Additionally, after I called back at 2:15 and stated that I was calling to confirm, the person on the phone laughed and passed the phone to another employee. This was before I was made aware they canceled the appointment. Extremely disrespectful, unhelpful and disappointing. After reading the other reviews, it appears that this is a pattern of behavior that has gone unaddressed. At the bare minimum - include the 2:00 pm rule in the confirmation e-mail, and instruct your staff to include that point in the call. Also, maybe start calling 2 days before to give people ample time to call back because, surprise, people have to work and not everyone can respond between 9-2. There is a online coupon for free exam & consultation. I brought the coupon to the front desk. The woman who work at the front desk said I can not use the coupon due to previously own a dog. I told them this is my new cat. They won't let me use the coupon, because I have an account with Banfield 10+ ago. I asked them is this pet clinic or human clinic? Will no longer be bringing our dog to Banfield after 10 years. Brought him in for shots and a checkup two weeks ago, and the vet noticed his ears were dirty. A test revealed an infection, so they sent us home with mometamax ear drops. The vet tech reviewed how to administer the ear drops, but she did not discuss possible side effects. One possible side effect, especially in older dogs (our dog is 14), is hearing loss. Our dog is now deaf. We hope it's temporary, but it may not be. Not much else to say. read more

If negative stars were possible this place would get negative 100! Absolutely horrible experience here! I brought my two year old Maltese here for a routine check up and he almost died! My Maltese is about 8 pounds and they thought it was a good idea to give him 4 vaccines in one sitting! We trusted that the doctor here would know what he was doing but clearly he didn't! About two hours later, I get my dog home and I notice he's itching his eye like crazy! I go look at it and his eye is almost swollen shut!!!! His nose is also swollen! We called the vet and had to drive him back immediately! He's clearly having an allergic reaction. They take him in the back and we wait. After about 15 minutes of pure agony not knowing if my dog will live they come out and tell us he needs a steroid shot and Benadryl because one of the vaccines caused a severe allergic reaction! Here's were it gets really good.... So not only does my dog almost die from the service that they provided, they also slapped us with a bill for the drugs to save his life! So let me get this straight? YOU ALMOST KILL MY DOG and I have to pay you to save his life? Absolutely horrendous place, awful experience and not even a damn sorry! Terribly saddened to leave this review and years ago it would have been incomprehensible. We've taken our dog to this location for 11+ years and the past two years have been horrible service. Switching medications over and over until we find one that works has been an issue but by far the biggest problem has been customer service. You can call and the phone will ring and ring. Some times you get a machine sometimes you don't. Constant turnover and it always seems someone is being trained and unable to assist you. The final straw was when my wife called the other day (Wednesday) and was told by the person on the phone that his symptoms were similar to anaphalactic shock and should be looked at immediately... then went on to tell us they could see him in two days because the Yb were busy. We called another vet and they said to bring him in immediately, he was taken care of promptly . If the people who are responsible for customer service are basically telling you to go elsewhere maybe you should heed the advice. read more

I could tell you at least 6 horror stories including the dogs dying in 4 instances. Here is the ultimate worst though... My sisters dog died in August. That particular pet's insurance did not renew until the following March. Banfield after misdiagnosing a few times finally killed the poor dog. They refused to stopped billing my sister from September through the following March. 6 months my sister had to watch her bank pay Banfield automatically for killing her beloved dog. We have taken our dog here for 8 years as she is a rescue and her previous owner brought her here. Our dog is over 16 years old and it's time to put her to sleep. We are emotional over this. When we called today to tell them we believe it's time I was put on hold for 5 minutes. After the long hold the receptionist told me that the vet that "does this thing" was sick so we can go to their other place. For a company that deals with animals you missed the mark. I had an appointment for my sick dog at Banfield and showed up on time to my appointment to be informed that my appointment was cancelled because the appointment was never "confirmed". My dog may be sick with cancer and they treated us very disrespectfully and declined to see us for the appointment. I rearranged my day and waited weeks this appointment and only had received one call confirming my appointment was cancelled. I am EXTREMELY disgusted with the disregard to not only my time but more important my dogs health (who was due for a biopsy for a likely cancer). I will never go there again read more

Very disappointing. I brought my dog there twice with eye issues. They gave him medication for Conjunctivitis. Well after repeated eye problems I went to a different veterinarian. Not conjunctivitis, dry eye. His tear ducts are not producing enough tears, left untreated causes blindness. Something that should have been easily detected and confirmed with a simple test. Band field never bothered to check. The medication that Banfield put him on was more the 3 times what it should have cost as well as the eye stain test that they did. I would never bring my pet to them again. They are horrible and way over charge for testing and medication. Do your self and your pet a favor and go somewhere else! read more

It is truly unfortunate that a 0 star rating isn't possible. That's what you deserve. My husband dropped off my two dogs (50lbs Black Lab and a 10 lbs Yorkie) this morning at this Banfield (we moved to MA from out of state), after about 45 mins of trying to get my dogs checked-in, being told the MA has a mandatory heart worm medication regulation for all dogs (lies), and generally just knuckle dragging my husband was finally able to leave. We called them twice during the dogs stay to confirm services and check on their status. To which the response was that they were fine. We had a scheduled pickup time of 630 pm. We received a call at 245pm that the dogs were ready to go. We again asked if the dogs were well, to which the response was again they're fine. At 415pm my husband picks up our dogs after spending $130 in ear cleanings, nail Dremeling, and heart worm medications. He packs the dogs and my 6yr old in the car and opens the drivers door to puddles of urine in both the passenger and drivers seat. Our 5 yr old house trained Black Lab urinated all over the front half of the car. My husband immediately brought the dogs back inside, and was informed that for the entire 8 HOURS that my dogs were at this "hospital" they had not been walked once. My dogs get walked every four hours when we are not home by a dog walker that we pay. We pay $760 a year in dog insurance and when I drop my animals off at the vet I expect (because I pay for it) for them to be treated the same or better then when they are in my care. When confronted, the front office staff said that it wasn't their policy to walk the dropped off animals. When prompted to show that policy in writing, the story then changed to my dog was "aggressive" and that's why she wasn't walked. Being military members we move often and our dogs have been seen in many different Banfield clinics along the eastern seaboard. We never have had problem. Never, NEVER have we ever been placed in a position where we have to question if our dogs are safe going to these clinics until today. Banfield and PetSmart in Braintree, MA... I have contacted the Corporate Headquarters and this will be investigated as neglect and your practices reviewed so that you CANNOT do this to any other animals. You have lost a loyal customer of 5 yrs. You are absolutely horrible. read more

I've contemplated about reviewing Banfield for about a year now...I just don't know how to rate it. Love: I LOVE most of the staff at Banfield. They're very friendly and helpful. They absolutely adore pets and love my dog. They offer advice and did i mention they love my dog? However, i've spent more money and time there than I needed to. The Not-so-great: 1. The vet did not treat my dog's problem. My dog had severe stomach issues for a few month and Banfield kept prescribing her new food and medication. The food they prescribed is a brand from their company which costed me a lot of money. At the end, I brought my dog to a different vet and their advice was to switch to a different brand of food and she specifically told me to stay away from the prescription food that Banfield was prescribing and Wah-la, the problem was solved. 2. There is usually a bit of a wait even if you have an appointment. They just do not have enough vets working in the office. 2 1/2. And her name is Meatball, stop calling her Meatloaf!!! read more

I would give this ZERO stars, if allowed. We wanted to try this location due to its convenience to PetSmart (which we're always at). We scheduled an appointment for 5:30 on a Wednesday evening. We arrived at 5:15 and were greeted by the receptionist who gave me forms to fill out since this was our first time here. Paperwork was brief and non-eventful. The waiting area. One word to describe the waiting area: Eeewwww. It's a dump. I didn't even want to sit on one of the benches for fear of the nasty towel someone left behind and all the other dogs around. I get it: it's a vet so there will be some "nastys" around from time to time, but I would expect to see someone, practically constantly, cleaning and did not see this. In fact, the whole (LONG) time we were there, I only saw someone briefly bring a mop into the exam rooms - nothing around the waiting area. There was a lot of hustle and bustle going on ("doctors" moving in and out), but I didn't see a lot of patients being called in (and there were about 4 families with dogs, and one person with a cat all waiting). The waiting area is not conducive to animals not being threatened by each other. My dog is a puppy so we kept her away from the other dogs because all she was doing was barking and barking (which was, I'm sure, annoying everyone). After waiting about 30-40 minutes, we were finally called over to weigh our dog. We had to skirt around a technician talking to a dog owner as there wasn't enough room for her kneeling on the floor, and us walking around. To me, that should have been happening in an exam room - not the waiting room. We weighed our dog and were directed to an exam room where we, once again, waited. We were told a "nurse" would be in shortly. About 10 minutes later, some "skater dude" with a beanie and greasy hair walked in. "Skater dude" didn't introduce himself, smile, acknowledge my puppy - anything. He asked us what we wanted (which was literally, "What do you want today?"). We said we simply wanted a checkup and to start her distemper shots. Before anything else, Skater Dude took out their "wellness plan" brochure and started telling us all about it. Ten minutes later, he was still talking about it. We said we weren't interested today, but would think about it. So now he, again, said, "So, what do you want?" Well, we're here with our PUPPY and we already said we want a SHOT! How hard is this? So every time he'd mention something (i.e., shots, checkups, etc.), he'd start with, "Well, you're not on 'the plan', so it'll cost $X...". I finally had to say to "Dude", "We're not getting the plan, so let's just move on and get to the shot". Mind you, this is the abbreviate version - this was not a quick interaction with "Skater Dude", nor was it without high-pressure sales. So he checked my dog's temp and her ears (I had to hold the dog which I've never had to do before, but that wasn't a horribly big deal). Mind you, he never put gloves on, nor did he wash his hands before or after interacting with my dog. All the while, he NEVER acknowledged my dog. She's a puppy so naturally she's cute. I would think that a Vet Tech would like animals, but he seemed to want to be anywhere else BUT here surrounded by all these animals. We asked about spaying our dog which then turned into another series of nickel-and-diming. He said we should do it "NOW" otherwise at 6 months, my puppy would magically turn into an adult and the cost would increase. So after about 20 minutes of high-sales pressure, he left saying the vet would be in to administer the shot. We waited another 10 minutes and finally said, "That's it; we're leaving". So I stopped by the front desk to tell them we were leaving (we just didn't have a good feeling about this after Skater Dude's unprofessionalism). The receptionist said, "Oh, the doctor will be right in", and I said, "No; I'm done." So she had to leave (for some reason - not quite sure why) for about 5 minutes. Then someone else came out and said, "So you're leaving?". Um. Yes. I already told someone else this! So she did something on the computer and then said one of the receptionists would have to come out to "enter a code" or some silly thing. I told her how dissatisfied I was and she really didn't reply at all. So, she left and I, again, had to wait for someone. Finally the receptionist came out and said we were all set to go. I hated this experience. They're there simply to push their wellness plan, make a buck (which is obvious), not show any compassion toward the animals or their owners' time. This whole experience was about 1 1/2 hours. We had an appointment. I get it, emergencies happen, but if you can't schedule better, then don't schedule at all. My personal recommendation is to stay away from this place like the plague. Go somewhere else - spend a little more money, but get a reputable docto read more

I brought my cat Nala to a Banfield location in Washington D.C. in March 2015 for a routine checkup. I had just moved to D.C. from South Korea and needed a vet that was relatively close by and it just so happened that Banfield was the closest. Well, two weeks after the checkup, Nala ran into some periodontal issues and needed a teeth cleaning and 1-2 extractions. The estimate was roughly $700 but by signing up with the optimum wellness plan, it would put the estimate at $500. Not a bad deal!, especially since the plan includes immunizations and checks ups and would save me some money in the long run (or so I thought). During the surgery, I got a call from the vet saying that they would need to extract 6 teeth which would put the total cost at $1100 dollars...with the wellness plan. Fool me once, shame on you. About 6 weeks ago I brought Nala to another Banfield location in New Hampshire to get a check up. I asked the vet to check Nala's teeth (at least those that remain) and if she needed any intervention. I was told by the vet that her teeth were fine. (Please note, I had been to Banfield several times this year for checkups and always asked to check Nala's mouth to make sure we catch any issues early. I was always told that she was fine). Well, I came home last week and one of her K9s was hanging by a thread. I brought Nala to a Banfield location in Braintree, MA (near my new apartment) and the vet said that she would need a teeth cleaning and 1-2 extractions (sounds familiar, right?) As expected, during the cleaning I got a call saying they would need to do multiple root extractions that would cost $650. Fool me twice, shame on me. The optimum wellness plan is supposed to be a method to proactively deal with health issues, but it's a total lie. DO NOT FALL FOR IT! Total scam. I am very surprised at the negative reviews! I think most people review bad experiences, but don't give credit to the good. (I know I am guilty of this!) I have a 6 month maltipoo puppy. The first couple days I had her, I took her to an overpriced VCA and after her first round of shots and over $100 for one visit, I knew I had to find an alternative. To see a vet at a VCA you pay $50-$60 just for the vet to see your pet, then of course, $ for whatever vaccine you get. I can't! A coworker told me about Bandfield and the puppy plans they offer. The first year of a dogs life, they get vaccines so frequently..and spaying/neutering is included! I was defiantly interested! They do offer a free first exam, with that said, the bad reviews confuse me even more! If you tried them out for free first and didn't like them, why'd you go back? I have taken my pootch to bandfield 4 times already in her little life and i haven't waited more then 15 minutes...my own doctors office is a lot longer :) they have 3 vets and 3 nurses in at a time, and there usually pretty busy, but I personally see that as a good thing! If lots of doggie/kitty parents go then there must be a reason why right?! I'm paying for the plan every month, but I also use it every month as well! So I did sign my pup up for the puppy plan for 12 months. It comes to about $300 a year and that includes getting fixed and vaccines so I personally think that's great. The only thing I DONT like is that they are not open 24 hours, and they make you pay for the benedryl to avoid vaccine reactions. I'm sure other vets do too, but I knocked off a star for those 2 reasons. Overall, I have really liked the nurses and vets I have met so far. Even the girls at the front desk are very knowledgeable. They answer questions and are clearly not just receptionists. I've even called a few times just to ask random questions and they always take the time to give me the best response they can. As for the office, I think it's pretty standard. I haven't seen dirt or poop anywhere!!! And I HAVE also seen them cleaning/mopping...jeez the place is constantly crawling with animals, it's not going to sparkle! Banfield Pet Hospital - My pup - Veterinarians Near Me - Braintree, Massachusetts

We took our cat Boris to the Braintree Banfield location. All the vet techs and Vets were extremely kind and loving towards our fur baby. We did sign up for the wellness plan and had him on it for over 6 years, he was diagnosed with kidney disease and we knew we were coming to the end of our time with our baby. We were assured that canceling the wellness plan after would not be a problem. Turns out it is a problem and they do not care that you lost your pet at all. Just buyer beware on the wellness plan as when you are facing the hardest days of a pet owner you will not receive any sympathy from this money hungry corporation. read more

Words are not enough to express my disappointment with this place. I took my 8 pound Maltese there yesterday for his physical and to sign up for their pet insurance. My dog was given 3 different type of vaccines which I had expressed some concerns prior but was reassured that it would be ok. After we left the clinic and for home my puppy immediately had a severe reaction from the vaccines. His eye and nose became swollen and he became extremely lethargic. When i arrived at the clinic they took him in the back and confirmed he was having a vaccine reaction. They recommended a steroid and Benadryl injection. But before the injection can be given I would have to agree to pay an additional $37.00 in addition to the $82.00 I had already paid. I paid it because at that moment all that mattered was my dogs life. I ended up calling the manager the next day and she was very condescending and never apologized. She just basically kept stating the policy and when I asked to cancel the membership she just gave me the number and told me that I would still be responsible for the final cost. All they care about is money here! My dog is still not himself and still very lethargic I pray that he recovers quickly he means everything to our family. Please don't bring your pet here! read more

I love their wellness plans, makes the financial side of pet care a little less of a burden! Yes, it is on a renewal contract but you have time prior to cancel before the next year starts! When I got my kitten, I did my research and Banfield was about the same price as others but offered alot more!! They also allowed me to stay in the room and meet the vets before I left my cat to be neutered! Highly recommend!! read more

The only thing at this Banfield that deserves a star is the office manager Erin. Although her only solution was an "I'm sorry, we dropped the ball on this one" she at least recognized just how poor this situation with my dog was handled. I DO recommend Banfield (more specifically the Woburn location), I DO NOT recommend the Braintree location. And just a side note, this is my first review on Yelp as I have been pushed to the point of having to warn others not to go to a specific business. Hope they address this because they're making a bad name for Banfield. read more

I have been a Banfield customer since I got my dog over seven years ago. This location was fine when I first started bringing my dog after moving to the Boston area, but the last year has been awful dealing with this office. I was told my dog's lab work possibly indicated his kidneys weren't functioning properly and to bring in a urine sample for further testing. I promptly brought a sample in the next day, but they didn't test it in time and asked me to bring in another a week later which was slightly frustrating but not that big of a deal. However, I brought it in and it took over two weeks for a vet to call me back with the results- this is with me calling and checking in once a day to see if there was someone available that could let me know the results at that moment or could call me back at the end of the day. The vet finally called me and told me everything came back fine, but it was such an unreasonable amount of time that had passed when it was only supposed to be 24 hours for the results. It was an incredibly stressful situation and no one seemed to care about the length of time that I was having to wait to hear back. Lately, whenever I call the office I can't get anyone on the phone and I'm not sure if they are now screening my calls from when I was having to call everyday to get an update about someone calling me back. When I called to schedule my dog's teeth cleaning and his shots, I left a voicemail. Over a week went by and I never got a call back, so I called again and opted to be kept in the waiting queue instead of leaving a voicemail (since I had already done that and never heard back). When I got back into the queue someone literally picked up the phone and just hung up on me. I called back again and someone picked up the phone and then immediately placed me on hold without asking. I held for around 10 minutes before calling using my partner's phone to call and someone immediately picked up the phone! This is so incredibly frustrating and unprofessional. I ended up scheduling my dog at this location because he needs to go in, but immediately found another Banfield location to take him to and made an appointment with them because I felt so uncomfortable with the entire situation. Even just now when I called this office to cancel my appointment, someone picked up the phone and just immediately placed me on hold. This is not okay for a vet's office to operate like this when you have an animal that needs to receive care and you can't even get someone on the phone. I'm so incredibly disappointed in my experience here and can finally write about it because I have found another location for my dog to receive care. read more

It's a little frustrating getting an appointment here and the staff at the desk has misunderstood information.

Been going here since February and each time I had a good/great experience. I recently got my dog spayed and the attentive check-ins are amazing. They would call me before and after she got her blood work done, as well as before she went under anaesthesia and after she woke up. They also notified me during her physical check up that she had a baby tooth that hasn't fallen out yet but her adult tooth already grew on, and they recommended we get it extracted while she was under, to make it easier and get everything done right then and there. In a general doctor's visit, everything is also great. Though there is one front desk staff member that doesn't seem too nice or attentive. But this one nurse we alway get, Liz, is amazing! She loves my dog and treats her very well and answered every question I've had. My only big complaint was when we scheduled a follow-up appointment, the date that the front desk person input was incorrect to the one that we both agreed on, and that caused me to get a warning on my account saying that I missed the appointment, and that next time I'd be charged a fee. They're generally very attentive, but everyone makes mistakes. And speaking of fees, everything can be assessed and you can be given an estimate of the entire visit's cost before you head in, which is great! Nothing is hidden. Their receipts are a bit excessive to most people, because they are incredibly detailed avidity report--down to the descriptions of medications/conditions and reasons why your pet was given it. Location details: It is connected to the Petsmart and you can walk right through, so no hassle of going in and out the front door. It is somewhat small and there are only 3 rooms where the clients are allowed. It can get pretty hectic when there are a lot of dogs everywhere but it is sufficient. It is clean and generally doesn't smell at all. Banfield in Braintree I have the insurance there for my Pet Simon for twelve years since he was a puppy, never called once in all those years to have him looked at because he was sick, well on July 29th I called and told the girl at desk my dog was sick acting strange and not eating I needed to have him looked at she told me No they were booked, I asked if a Vet could call me back she said No they were to busy for that bring him in on scheduled visit Aug 6th I then explained he couldn't wait that long she said all sick appts were booked she would wait list me... I took him VCA it cost be $700 for an infection that could have been treated there....I complained to Corp and they had same rude girl call me and she hung up on me because I told her that she told me No, don't take out insurance on your pet there it's just a SCAM!!!! read more

Update: I called the Client Advocate Team and spent about a month arguing intermittently with them/the Braintree location before they finally decided to let me go. (In the meantime, the Braintree location "mislogged," my dog's urinalysis/stool sample results and lied repeatedly about whether they actually had the results/when I would be contacted about them). If you're having a terrible experience there - especially if you're a long-term customer like me - stand up for yourself, be persistent, and be assertive. Your pets deserve better. I had a remaining balance of a couple hundred dollars on my Wellness plans between my two dogs, but I finally got Banfield to forgive the balance so that I could switch to a different vet. Speaking of, I write this update the day after my first appointment at Boston Animal Hospital - amazing! Check out my review there if you'd like to see what a quality veterinary practice is like.
