There are some people who work at pet supply places as a job, and then there is Kathy who clearly runs the place out of love. I hear the owner Kim is just as passionate. I've been there twice when Kathy was tending shop, and I've seen several owners bring their dogs in, and they all love Kathy. Btw, Maggie is the name of Kim's dog. Need a really cute or snazzy dog collar or leash? They've got a great selection. Need some primo chow for your obedient family member (obviously not talking about the hubby or the kids)? So, I went shopping for something special for this little pug that's addicted to eggs (hard-boiled), sausage, and Dingo sticks, and Kathy suggested this chow made by a company called Earthbound. Well, since dogs are derived from wolves, I figured that the Bison meal would be a good bet. A note about this pug, she's got a refined palate. Translation: she's not going to eat just any slop that I put in front of her. Also, this pug's got some street swag. That's why my nickname for her is Notorious P.U.G. For the first couple of days, she would sniff around but she never actually tried it. Then once she did take a bite, she became addicted to it. How addicted? I'd run these little experiments where I took her long-time favorite kibble bits and put them on half of a plate, and then I'd put the Earthbound Bison Meal on the other half of the plate. Every time she'd gobble down the Earthbound Bison Meal and leave the other kibbles untouched. I'm sure that while she's eating that Earthbound stuff, her genes are kicking in and sending her all sorts of subliminal reminders of her ancestors' time roaming the Great Plains and eating bison. Yo, wait, were pugs even in America when bison used to roam the Great Plains in huge numbers? The point is that Maggie's Doghouse carries high-quality stuff that's hard to find at your large local pet supply company or your warehouse-style shopping center. The other thing is that they have this wonderful high-end bakery display where they have all sorts of treats. I'm not much into taking pictures as those who have read my previous reviews know. But the stuff here is just too cute to accurately describe. So, I'll have to include pics with this review. But by far and away, the really appealing aspect of this establishment is that Kathy really love dogs. Some people like dogs, some people love dogs because dogs provide them with companionship, and then there are people like Kathy who just love dogs simply because they are dogs. In other words, Kathy is a dog person who just looks to give love without the expectation of receiving it. Dogs are incredibly perceptive, and that's probably why every dog I've seen walk into that place suddenly gets all excited like a kid on Christmas morning. When I see people like Kathy, I want the place to succeed. And it's even better because the store is so immaculate, meticulously arranged, and inviting. The fact that this is a small business is just another great reason to bring your business here. The final great thing is the location. Whoa, they're next to Bloomy Rind, which I've also written a review about. Hey, if you're going to treat your dog, you might as well treat yourself at Bloomy Rind, and vice versa. P.S. I gave Notorious P.U.G. the pink heart-shaped Woof treat, and she went completely nuts and gobbled it down like it was the last dog treat on earth. Kim bakes all the dog treats herself, so you know that they're made with the highest quality ingredients, and now I know where to go to get gifts whenever I visit a friend with a dog.

We returned because we had previously had a positive experience. We appreciated the cleanliness of the facility, the convenience of the online reservation system, and, most importantly, we trusted them with our pets. Our young dog began attending at approximately four months of age, and for several months everything went well. This spring, we were told he had been "humpy and displaying dominance" during a previously scheduled boarding over school vacation. We immediately followed Shipyard's recommendation upon returning by temporarily removing him from daycare, having him neutered as soon as possible, observing the recommended recovery period, and even offering to pursue additional training if needed. After doing exactly what was asked, Shipyard accepted additional boarding reservations, giving us every reason to believe he remained an appropriate candidate for their program and that any concerns had been adequately addressed. While returning home from a recent trip, we received another message stating that our dog had "incited an altercation" and now needed to be removed from the facility for several months. This meant coming home and unexpectedly needing to start over in finding future boarding after relying on Shipyard Dog for our travel needs, which had recently increased due to a death in our family. After reviewing the 13-second video provided, I was left with more questions than answers. The footage did not clearly demonstrate to me that our dog was solely to blame for the altercation, nor was I given any objective explanation regarding the specific behaviors that led to that conclusion or what "improvement" would actually look like for him to return. From the video, our dog appeared increasingly overstimulated. He was open-mouth panting, sat down while several dogs continued to approach him, and rather than the interaction de-escalating, additional dogs continued to converge around him until a fifth dog approached him directly face-to-face, at which point he reacted. I was also surprised that there appeared to be no consideration of simply removing him from the playgroup or modifying his boarding experience, particularly given that he had been recently neutered, before deciding to dismiss him from the program for a "few months." The video also showed two playgroup monitors nearby before the interaction escalated. What ultimately led us to make other arrangements was the complete breakdown in communication. At no point were we told that our dog's place, even as a boarding customer, was in jeopardy despite accepting four future boarding reservations throughout the summer. When I raised concerns about how this was handled, I received no response. When you board your dog, you should be able to travel, even under difficult family circumstances, knowing your pet's needs are being thoughtfully managed. Instead, we were left worrying about unexpected behavior messages while traveling and scrambling to find new boarding arrangements afterward. I recognize that every facility has the right to determine which dogs are the best fit for its program. My purpose in sharing this review is not to dispute that right, but to help other owners understand our experience. I encourage readers to draw their own conclusions. If you rely on a boarding facility for travel, I encourage you to ask detailed questions about how behavioral concerns are managed, how much communication you can expect if concerns arise, and what alternatives are considered before a dog is removed from the program. Those answers may ultimately determine whether a facility is the right fit for your family.

Much like Husband's old Springer, Barney, formed a bond with Cheryl, the owner of the original Pooch Paws, our Springer, Breaker, immediately fell in love with Krystal, Cheryl's daughter and the owner of Pooch Paws to Go! What I love most about PPTG is that Breaker gets his one-on-one time with her immediately, and has all of her attention and love for the entire appointment. The best part: When he's done, he jumps out of her van and runs right back into his own home. Krystal and I have both commented on how much better he does, and how less stressful it is for him. He always looks wonderful, she's so good with him, and I would trust her, essentially, with his life. We would recommend any part of the entire Pooch Paws family, but now that Breaker's favorite groomer has the ability to come to his own house, that's the way we're going!

I took her to Angell Memorial Hospital and medical care began. My name was the only name on the account. At no time was anyone from Gofi allowed to visit Karma in the ICU unit. After I left Angell, the Executive Director of Gofi Dogs visited without telling me. She told them she was the "co-owner" of Karma. They denied her access. Angell called later that week and said an "irate woman was calling them, verbally abusing three staff members, and trying to get access to Karma." They denied her again. Several Gofi staff members told me they witnessed this and said the Executive Director was completely unhinged. The Executive Director called me a few days later and said, "If I had known Karma needed dialysis and had been allowed access to her, I would've had her euthanized." READ THAT AGAIN. I don't care about the bullying, harassment, getting the Walpole police involved (the Executive Director did that too), calling a lawyer she knew I'd contact (more on that later), the lack of communication, or the flip-flopping about how much money she demanded. I only care about what Karma had to go through. Because the account was in my name only, Karma had that fighting chance. And because of that, she's alive. If it had been the Executive Director of Gofi Dogs' decision, Karma wouldn't be. READ THAT AGAIN TOO. Karma had no one as she sat in that cage for days with tubes sticking out of her and having no idea if I was coming back. That is beyond inexcusable. I sent an email to the Board of Directors of Gofi Dogs. I never heard back from them. Not. A. Word. The Executive Director of Gofi Dogs set up a fundraising platform for Karma and raised well over $1000. I never saw a dime. I contacted a lawyer and he said, "If you have any social media content up, take it down." "Why?" I asked. "Someone from Gofi contacted me and warned me about you. They don't want their reputation tarnished." I asked if it was the Executive Director of Gofi. "No," he said, "It was someone else on their board."
