Only adding a star for the nice woman who helped us (Tori). The rest of the experience: 1. Not allowed to hold the puppy or go into an enclosure even though we were serious buyers. 2. When we paid for the puppy he reeked. 3. Told he had his shots and was visited twice by a vet. Impossible the vet didn't know his condition. (See 4) 4. Puppy has had vicious diarrhea (our house is a war zone) since we brought him home. Took him to vet and he tested positive for Coccidia and Giardia. Highly contagious and we have another dog and small kids. 5. Dog also has a heart murmur but the pet shop said it could be from travel or stress so I'm not going to panic about this one just yet. We did submit a claim for the vet bills. I think they only reimburse up to $1k. We are at $220 and need to get retested in a few weeks and will likely need more meds. Add a test and meds for our other dog as well and we are racking up costs for what should have been a healthy dog. And forget everything we've had to toss and the rugs that will need to be cleaned after all this. Not a good way to start what should be a beautiful time with our new boy. Why are the dogs not being tested and treated for parasites? Why was the dog given to us with vicious diarrhea? So many questions.. but clearly either they need a new vet or they need to get more involved in making sure the dogs are healthy. read more

I would not purchase a pet at this store. I purchased a puppy last September. I didn't know it wasn't trained. The salesperson didn't go over the store policy. I had to pay separately for the Supply kit/crate. It was a lot of $$. I returned him, as I couldn't train and I live alone. I brought him back in the same condition I got him in. They only refunded me 50% of price. I tried to contact the Owner to no avail. I thought Massachusetts has a 3-day Right of Recision, Chapter 93-A law. Horrible place... They fed my golden retriever small breed puppy food from the brand that they are selling. I asked whether Royal Canin and Pro Plan's large breed puppy food was good, they said no those are not good food for my puppy. My golden was underweight according to the vet. She puts me on hold. 30 seconds later a mouthy and in a big hurry, not customer savvy lady gets on the phone she is short rude and most likely stinks if you get close to her. She says things as a matter of factly, she cut me off in every sentence like she was trying to show her younger sister how to tell off the milk man. Pleeeeeease !!!!! Went into the store the other day to see if I could get more information on their breeders (I wasn't doing this to harass the store, contrary to what you might be thinking) because I was genuinely curious about where their dogs come from. And plus, who buys a dog without doing research on where they came from? But that's besides the point. I was told by one of the workers that they no longer reveal that information and that they would only tell me after purchasing. This is a BIG RED FLAG! If the owner, workers, or people affiliated will not reveal information about where the dogs are from then you should NOT buy them! If these puppies were not from mills then there would be no harm in sharing this information and there would not be people "harassing" the breeders, as I was told. I was told that the dog I was looking into was from Ohio. That was the extent what they would tell me. Some observations about the store lead me to believe the following: 1. These puppies are not healthy. They sit under fluorescent lights and lay down in newspaper pieces. They pee on the paper and drink from metal water straws (You know, the kind you see hamsters drink from). 2. There are signs that say no photography and no videos but they do not confront the customers about this. I saw more phones out taking pictures than I did dogs. 3. The dogs are not healthy. They are always sleeping, looking out dirty glass, and are very socially underdeveloped. This one is obvious, as some dogs sit alone and others are sitting on paper with another puppy that may or may not be biting them. While that is what I saw in store, my last takeaway is for the other reviewers. To people here saying "I adopted to save the dog", you are part of the problem. What do you think happens when you spend $,$$$ on that puppy? Do you genuinely think you're helping shut down this location? You're simply giving them more reason to sell puppies. You, along with this franchise, are equally at fault. If you wanted to save a dog you would go to your local shelter and rescue a dog there. I went there to get my friend a car magnet. Waited at the register for several minutes before someone acknowledged I was there. When she rang the car magnet up it was more expensive then the price marked on it.when I asked her to honor the price it was marked she huffed and got her manager. she said her name was laureen, she said she's been there 5 years and never heard of honoring the price it's marked for . It was only a dollar difference, but the way I was treated for asking that . It should have been such a simple transaction , but it wasn't. Where do I begin... the employees are absolutely horrendous for starters. They don't acknowledge you what's so ever, pretty stale expressions and just unbelievably rude! Wanted to sit down with a dog and they were just not having it. Now the customers... Some people are just so goddamn stupid and shouldn't be allowed in pet stores! This lady was walking around with her phone filming the dogs tapping on the glass laughing her a$$ off. Maybe she should be behind the glass and tortured! They're animals, not toys! As far as the dogs go, they're cute and surprisingly looked healthy. It's a shame they come from a terrible source but you can't blame the puppies. I noticed a lot of people say they brought home sick puppies. That's alarming. I would say adopt from a shelter first. We read reviews and like most were skeptical of buying from a pet store, but this was the best decision for our family. It was either a 9 month wait list with breeders or Pet express. If you read about breeders that supply pet stores you will learn they are high regulated with surprise inspections, etc. Pet express had care onsite weekly with a veterinarian that I vetted once I learned of the provider. The manager Anna and associate Kristie answered all questions and actually wouldn't let me take her the day we intended because they wanted a vet check up on her. Phenomenal care to these dogs by all staff. The store itself is impeccably clean. Cost vs Value is how I make all decisions and I would've paid double what I did for our girl. I'm very disappointed in the employees here. I was there with my daughter and her roommate today and her roommate asked to see a puppy. She was told she had to be 18 with a valid ID. I told my daughter (who has her permit, but is 18) to go show that along with her college ID while I was shopping for items for our 3 dogs. She was told it was not a valid ID. So I went over with my ID. I was told I would be the only one allowed in the area. Having just seen another parent with her young child playing with a puppy, I have to believe we were discriminated against because my daughter's roommate is from Haiti. I put everything back that I had intended to purchase and I will never go to this store again. Your employees need some sensitivity training and should really learn to respect paying customers. read more

Most of the people reviewing this place didn't even buy a dog or no more then food. If your looking for a puppy ask to see the papers. They give you the dogs full history and parents names along with the contact info of the breeder. This place knows the stigma associated with a pet store and does what it takes to put your mind at ease. Some of the employees are disinterested teenagers which is why I gave four stars. You need to ask them the right questions or ask for management help. They have a script to follow but after a few minutes will ease up and be straight forward. I went late afternoon to buy my Pom that way the place wasn't full of people just hanging around. Worked out well. I've read a lot of these reviews and it mostly seems like sour grapes about medical issues common to the breed. DO YOUR RESEARCH. If the issues were that bad and not disclosed at purchase you can return the dog. That's one of the purposes of the vet visit. However, no one does that because they fall in love with the dog. Almost all dogs have issues just like people. Some more then others unfortunately. read more

Every time I go to the plaza I have to check out this store. They always have a different selection of puppies available. The puppies here tend to find a home within days of being available. I am in the search for a puppy and have looked here recently. The problem I have been having is I need a hypo allergenic breed because I'm allergic to dogs and they seem to be the first to go. The only con I would say is they are usually price extremely high. They do offer financing so I guess that's a plus. read more

I was at this place yesterday visiting a dog named Billie. Billie was in a cage with a greyhound I think and the greyhound puppy was ripping the poor little puppies ear off and not one employee noticed or thought to separate the poor puppy getting her ear torn off. The employees had inappropriate conversations using foul language and the music on was rap. I like rap dont get me wrong but in a public place? Where children are? And the lack of care for these poor animals was clearly shown. This place needs to be shut down . If I had all the money in the world I would have bought every dog to get them out of a situation like this. Employees should be fired and dogs need be taken care of better! read more

I'd give LESS STARS except I found the LOVE OF MY LIFE Puppy who I feeI I "RESCUED" from Pet Express. There were several mix ups with paperwork, the dog was sick and the whole thing was exasperating because I had to make SEVERAL PHONE CALLS just to get paperwork that my Vet needed. I work too just like they do. My time is just as valuable as the Manager's at Pet Express. Dog was sick, they told me that she had been sick but had been treated. They said she "might" test false positive but def had been treated. Nope. Took her to my Vet and no False Positive but full blown Infection. No one figured this out beforehand? They are supposed to be retested to be sure the infection is gone for this specific infection. RE-TESTED. Did not happen. There was one young lady Lauren who was VERY HELPFUL. She helped us get all of the things we needed for a Puppy that I would have forgotten. Our other dog is 11 so I def would have missed some Puppy Stuff. She was also the one who answered the phone when I called there every 3rd day. She was CLEARLY EMBARRASSED since she said that she had given my information to her Manager the first, second and third time that I had called. It is ILLEGAL in Massachusetts not to have a Rabies vaccine Certificate at your Vet AND the Tag dangling from your dog. (Nope, we didn't have this and that wasn't the ONLY paperwork that was missing) It wasn't until I wrote a scathing note on their National Website that I got an INSTANT (less than 45 min) response from THIS BRAINTREE Pet Express. The other thing that seems NOT RIGHT is that they MADE ME Buy Their food, their treats and a bottle of glucose that my Vet said that the puppy didn't need. How can that be legal to FORCE Customers to purchase EXTRA products? SEEMS WRONG. I had my kids with me so I wasn't going to start anything in the store. I did say twice "I MUST buy your food ?" THE ANSWER BOTH TIMES WAS YES. My children pooled their $$ to buy this VERY EXPENSIVE Puppy= $1600. I work in Customer Service and in my Business, we would be giving out a Gift Card for all of the INCONVENIENCE. Nope, a small note from the Manager with NO GOOD FAITH Gift Card. Geez, it could have been $25. We spent almost $2000 there. AWFUL AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. The only bright light is that I have the sweetest, funniest and most Lovey Puppy in the history of Puppies. Very bad experience here on January 19th Braintree with the most unprofessional employee. I went to buy a puppy and he employee grabbed the puppy straight out from us while in mid play. Without saying a word as if the puppy was not an enjoying herself. I was not only in awe but the other customers were as well. She was rude from the moment we walked in. It was love at first sight with my pup, but one of my very first questions was "Are the puppies from a mill?" Of course their answer is a hard and fast "NO". Of course I was so in love that I just accepted that answer. They lied! All the puppies there are from mills. The so called names that are listed as breeders are fake. I paid $2800 for my Bichon-Poodle (Way too much for a puppy) and then was pressured to buy all this crap for him. I ended up leaving the store and after paying over $3100. They "cleaned" him up a bit (put an ugly bandana on him) and give me his records and said he was up to date with all his shots and I had 7 days to get him to the vet they recommended or I would have to pay out of pocket. He was not up to date at all with his shots, in fact only his rabies shot was up to date. Now I have to cover the cost of all the shots. I would only say buy the pups just to save them from these horrible people. FYI my puppy acted like he'd never seen grass the moment we got out of the car and got home. He wouldn't go near it until the next day. It's so sad see all these defenseless creatures trapped in these small boxes. The people that work there are only there to sell, they won't give you the time of day unless they think you are a serious buyer, then they become your best friend. Horrible. I can't even begin to describe the experience I just had trying to find a puppy at this place. I recently and tragically lost my 4 year old Dachshund and was trying to find a replacement puppy to help in the grieving process. I went in to the store last Friday and told the manager my story as I tried to literally hold back tears. She didn't have any dachshunds but I mentioned I would be interested in Australian Shepards as well. She told me they would have one coming in on Monday morning and should come back. After returning on Monday morning and talking to the same manager she informed me " we already sold it, some other guy came in over the weekend we told him about it then he bought it" I understand this is a first come first serve business. But why even bother building someones expectations like that? Especially someone who just lost their dog. read more

I usually visit here a lot, and I've always loved seeing the dogs. Usually I pick one out to play with. I've never had a bad experience until today. I was looking at a German Shepard and I asked one of the lady's there if I could play with her. She said yes, just needed to see id. I opened my wallet without hesitation. I said can you see my birthday from here? In an extremely rude way she said " you need to pull that out so I can make sure it's not just some damn picture" I was understanding that it needed to actually come out of my wallet, but she was so rude & snippy I almost just wanted to walk out and never visit again. I don't know her name, but she's an older woman with a tattoo around her wrist and red hair. If I ever come back I will NEVER go to her for help again. Their puppies come from puppy mills, they have no respect for the families and the dogs. They will lie and create many new rules and regulations (EVEN laws) to sell you sick puppies and after going to a reputable vet to get the puppy checked out, you find out that your puppy will be suffering from an illness for the rest of their lives and need to be put down, when you go to Pet Express about it, they take your puppy away from you and never give you a clear story and you can't even go see your puppy and say nothing is wrong with them and later try to talk you into buying another puppy. Don't buy from them. Go to an actual breeder or adopt. They are just looking for a pay check. They don't care at all for the lives of these puppies. read more

I purchased a dog March of 2014. After doing research I unfortunately did find that my dog came from a puppy mill. At that point the damage was already done. Next thing . . . When taken to the vet he had kennel cough and an ear infection. Fine I took care of that, hes a happy healthy boy. When I purchased him I signed up for a financing they strongly offered. BAD IDEA. Whatever you do, DO NOT finance any pets. They use Wags who then sells the loan to Monterey Financial. This is all a scam. When I purchased my dog he was sold to me with some supplies at roughly 1,800. It is now 05/02/2016 and I have paid 3,346.73. I was told it would be 12 payments of 128.00. Not the case. Pet Express does not tell you that their finance provider is very deceiving and instead of financing "leases" the dogs. If you don't pay they will repossess the pet as if it is an automobile! This place is an inhumane and money hungry. Taking advantage of innocent people looking for companions. Please stay away. Please! read more

I purchased a puppy from here. The staff was very nice I will say that and they do love their animals. My complaint is the cost. I was quoted on the phone for my puppy's sister for $3,200.When I got my puppy she was a $1,000 more. I understand MA has state tax but usually when a place gives you a total that should include the tax. They also told me the day before she could get spayed for free lol. When I got her I asked and of course, that was the last thing they brought up. It is far from free. I already gave them a $500 deposit but I was very close to not taking the puppy. So if you get a puppy from here ask if the total includes the tax.Have them sign something about the spaying before you buy!!!I was thinking about getting another puppy but for $4,500.I will go somewhere else. I am planning on giving bad reviews on everything site possible. I think because of covid they jacked up their prices.$1,000 cheaper for my puppy's sister not right. I'm usually not one to review anything but I don't understand how this place can honestly look you in the face and let you bring home your newest pet/family member knowing they have health issues at the prices they do since bringing my Boston terrier home she has already had kennel cough and now has Giardia which she has had signs of since coming home but my family and I thought it was reverse sneeze and it's not even really about the cost it's the fact that they don't realize that families expect to bring home their newest member and their issues might be too severe to keep them it's not right I'm glad my family and I were able to save our pup from there but that place really needs to be evaluated or more so shut down! read more
