Hello if I could leave zero stars I would.After waiting for days to see the exotics Doctor and having our appointment rescheduled by the hospital for later because they said they wanted the healthy birds seen first due to bird flu scare I tried to assure them that our pet definitely did not have bird flu but was really sick and shouldn't wait-they made us wait anyway until 6pm to be seen.This doctor is only in for one day per week. Last nights experience left my family and our pet hen completely traumatized.We had a pet chicken hen who had been sick for a while and we were expecting that she would need to be put to sleep.She was almost 6 years old and would not eat.She looked like she had jaundice too.Euthanasia is not a new experience for us as we have had multiple chickens over the past decade.We are familiar with the process.This Doctor screwed up royally. The Doctor is supposed to administer an IV line so that they can give both medications easily.This makes it a peaceful process as possible. This Doctor Moe Beck did not do this.Instead she chose to give the first medication in the muscle of the chest which takes longer to affect.She was having trouble.Our chicken who's name was Beagle cried out.Then when trying to find a vein to give the second fatal medication she stabbed her multiple times in both of her legs and then admitted that she thought the reason she couldn't get a vein is because the first medication she gave her had lowered her blood pressure making it difficult to gain access to her veins.Then she proceeds to tell us that she would need to go in her neck.She asked us multiple times if we wanted to leave the room but we declined.We wanted to be there for our pet.Again Dr Moe was having difficulty gaining access but she managed to give her half of the dose in her neck.THEN she says she needs to give the rest directly into her heart.In the meantime Beagles chest was heaving heavily and she was throwing up a lot.She cried out a few times.This has never happened before when we have had to euthanize any pet in the past.The Dr tried covering Beagles head after she threw up and we don't know why because we were there and we saw EVERYTHING! Our chicken hen had not passed yet so the so called doctor leaves to go get more medicine.In the meantime Beagle raised her head and then she passed.After notifying the dr of this she asked us to wait for a cardboard casket box.After a few minutes we declined ,wrapped up our pet and left.Our poor Beagle suffered needlessly because of this stupid incompetent person who calls themselves a doctor.She repeatedly apologized for our loss but she should have apologized for her horrific behavior and incompetence.This nightmare took almost 20 agonizing minutes.We have been left traumatized.We will NOT BE RETURNING EVER! Please consider this before you decide to see this so called doctor-they are also affiliated with Warwick Animal Hospital in Rhode Island.NEVER AGAIN!! read more

if you take your pets here, ask to see your medical records after every visit - apparently that's where they like to make snarky and potentially defamatory comments about their clients. In three decades of rescuing hard to place dogs and seeing them to their deserved old age and easing them into doggy heaven, I have never had a more unpleasant, disgusting, incomprehensible and horrifying experience at business claiming to be a veterinary hospital. Well, we've been in this relationship now for 6 years and I have struggled to stay with you over the years. But you're so close to me, this relationship was based on convinince. The thoughts of leaving you came into my mind quit often. But, the time has come to say goodbye as I've decided to break away and see someone else. The last episode was the final straw..... More then not, this place is happy to check you out, have you pay the bill...without even talking to the doctor, who might get to you a day or two later if they remember. I've had to chase them many times for any information. This is an awful business practice and has happened to me many many times and suspect they don;t do this only to me. I could go on and on with various examples, but not worth my time. I recommend this place for a regular checkup w/healthy animal, but anything more complex than that, they're happy to take your money....but for me were never very helpful. read more

My husband and I started going to Norwell Vet last year when we got a puppy. We happily did everything they asked us to do, whatever was needed to keep our puppy healthy. We spent a lot of money. We then got two more puppies. One in July and the other in Sept. As with our first puppy we did everything they asked. We have spent over 10,000 in care for our puppies. Then this past March our puppies and our 10 year old dog got very sick. We spent over 800 in one week with medicines and tests for them to have no answers. They all were so sick with the same symptoms, yet no answers. The doctor and tech just looked at us blankly. I am convinced their food was contaminated and that is what caused this problem. However, because this vet uses recommends this food and uses their brands of Vet Prescription foods, Is the reason I think they wouldn't say it was the food. My puppy who isn't a year yet has had mites twice. This last time I needed revolution, and for the second time they didn't have it. So I was give a prescription. When I went to pick it up I was reprimanded by the receptionist for not giving them 48 hours for the prescription. I said I was told by the tech that called me I could get it after 4 today. Then when I tried to use Walmart Pet Rx, an option to have the pharmacy verify the prescription with the vet was offered on the website. So because I need this med right away I check off the box for the pharmacy to verify it with Norwell. I got an email from Pet Rx telling me they have tried twice to get the prescription verified. I called Norwell and was told they don't do that. I would have to mail in the prescription. I said I don't understand why you can't verify a prescription the doctor wrote. So I emailed the confirmation that Pet Rx sent me to the vet. The tech said she would call them and verify for me. She never did and my money was refunded and my puppy never got the medication she needed. Also, I had a reception laugh in my face when I questioned the reason and cost for a test on my oldest puppy. As long as your willing to spend thousands of dollars you get top notch treatment. However, once you start questioning the cost of tests or medications is when you are treated poorly. One last thing, I had made an appt for one of the puppies for a Thursday night. A few weeks before I changed jobs and my pay date changed to a Friday. I had completely forgotten. I called to speak with them about keeping the appt and I would pay the bill first thing Friday morning. My appt that Thursday was for like 7:30. So it would have been less then 24 hours that I could pay the bill. They said NO... after all the money we spent over the course 9 months, they couldn't let me keep this important appt for my puppy and just let me pay the very next morning. So we are suppose to trust them but they couldn't trust a client that they have never had a problem with before. I have three puppies that were in there at least twice a month for shots etc. If you have an unlimited amount of money and will not question anything then use Norwell. read more

So in an effort to resolve the flea issue my dog and household incurred as a result of my taking my pet to Norwell Vet Hoapital, I decided to write the doctor a letter in which I kindly explained my situation and detailed the extremely non-professional manner in which I was dealt with by the hospital's office manager, Lindsey. More than two weeks has passed since I sent my letter addressed to Dr. Cairns and I have received NO answer, let alone an acknowledgement of my attempt at communication. It is all too apparent that the unprofessional manner in dealing with patients extends from the bottom to the top of the hierarchy here. It's very sad and disappointing. I expected so much more from an office offering "professional" care and services. I have learned my lesson and I will never take my beloved pets here again nor will I recommend this place to anyone. read more

I've been taking my 12 yr old lab mix here now for a few years. The staff and vets here are consistently great - informative, professional, warm. My dog recently had a minor surgical procedure which was handled beautifully throughout by Dr Cairns and all the technicians and staff, from estimating, advising, intake, followup, and suture removal. They are so nice here and unfortunately with two kittens, we've been there quite a lot. They have late night hours which is perfect for people who work. Debbie, one of the staff is so helpful and really enjoys seeing our two bundles of joy. Besides the fact that they're absurdly overpriced Norwell Vet lost my families business after 20+ years going there (to be fair they were not always terrible just in recent years ). First, our teenage daughter brought the dog for a quick shot and had forgot her credit card. She asked if her parents could come by after work or if she could grab it and return, as we had been going there for about 15 years at that point and never not paid on time. The front desk lady told her she couldn't leave without payment, made her cry and only allowed her to leave when my husband called and spoke to them. Second, our 10 year old dog started to have very clear problems so we brought her in. They did tons of expensive tests said nothing was wrong. She continued to have problems we bring her back, more tests, no answers. We repeatedly brought her back because of her clear health problems for about three months while they continued to be happy to run countless expensive tests but not have any answers. We brought her to another vet finally who identified it as cancer. It was too late and after a round of chemo they decided nothing could be done. Norwell used to be a great vet but in recent years they care only about how many tests they can get you to run and not the actual quality of care. read more

This place should be named Norwell up charge clinic. Before my dog was even taken out of the car, the receptionist was recommending she have senior blood work at $335. I passed on that. My 13 dog is active and healthy. The vet then recommended her teeth be cleaned which they would not do without the $335 blood work plus another at least $1100. They never asked me a question about her behavior activity or any concerns I had. I do t think the vet even touched her. I wouldn't know because I was not allowed in with her. The whole thing was curbside. We were there for 2o minutes and I paid $486. We won't be returning. read more

I have always been more than impressed with Norwell Veterinary and in particular with Dr. Sullivan. The office is incredibly "on the ball" when it comes to scheduling, notifying me of upcoming shots needed, and being thorough with the bills. Dr. Sullivan is beyond professional and knowledgeable. She always treats us like the only clients in there, even though I know we're not! She takes the time to thoroughly answer questions, as well as (more importantly) proactively cover information that we need/is good to know. I've made some stupid mistakes with my dog (oops, cutting her skin when I was trying to cut her hair) and she made me feel like stuff like this happens all the time (even though I'm sure it doesn't!!). I feel very confident that my dog is in GREAT hands with Dr. Sullivan and we'll be with Norwell vet for years to come. read more

If I can give them a zero I would.Our cat Milo needed his teeth pulled so we thought.We got a referral from a veterinarian in Quincy.They told us it looks like Milo has an abscess [cancerous], but go to a vet who is specialized in dental work and let them advise you.We went to Norwell veterinary hospital and I told them our dilemma.If the abscess is cancer please put him to sleep and don't let him go through this.Milo was 13 years old.They performed the surgery [$1,600 later] and told me he was fine.....After a week Milo was still not himself and I went for a second opinion.They told me the dentist definitely should have noticed the cancer.All Norwell Veterinary Hospital cared about was my money and not the well being of our cat. read more

We have taken our large family of pets here for 12 years now. The vet who left, Cathy, was our go to person. Since she left we have had one cat diagnosed with cancer of her back leg at a tremendous expense. Our cat's Dr. Sullivan took numerous X Rays, Tests etc... Her recommendation whilst we were travelling in the car and all children listening, "we remove her back leg," because it was "so moth eaten with cancer." The cat lives in a home with 3 large dogs!! Her recommendation was so draconian, and after quite a long discussion requestioning her decisioin, I said we would discuss as a family. We chose to do NOTHING because this cat showed NO indication of cancer, she ate, jumped, ruled the household. It appeared to me that one of the dogs may have stepped on her back leg. In the end, the cat HAD NO CANCER!! Many YEARS LATER, she is still running, jumping and stealing the dogs beds!!! WE ARE SO HAPPY WE IGNORED HER ALARMIST DIAGNOSIS!!! SHE WAS WRONG, and they owe us for all the expense they put our family through. Worry, concern over the pet. Ridiculous in every fashion. But, this past spring, we had a dog go in for a tooth extraction. And the vet on her own accord with no phone call into us or permission went and took a scraping off another tooth. She then sent it to pathology. And, NO SURPRISE, the dog was diagnosed with cancer of the mouth on this scraping. We went through tests, and tests, X Rays, second opinions and Oncologist at another GREAT EXPENSE. This dog HAS NO CANCER!!!!! Again, two animals same family, both incorrectly diagnosed with cancer by Norwell Vet Clinic. Norwell is just churning a money machine.... Absolutely zero trust factor. read more

Used to bring all our cats and dogs there. Not anymore. They are the biggest money grabbing veterinary hospital I have ever seen. First we brought our cat there because of an issue with sneezing uncontrollably. So instead of starting with the simplest thing first they started with the most expensive with included a EKG. The vet came back and said he has an enlarged heart and could pass at anytime.... They recommended he see the cardiologist. After further exam and over $1,000 paid they determined he had only allergies..... Recently brought the cat back there for his annual exam. He needed his teeth cleaned at a cost starting at $600 and would be more if they found "issues." Well we called VCA Roberts and they were 1/2 the price and said his teeth were not as bad as Norwell said they were. Needless to say, both cats and dog are no being seen at Roberts..... I wish I could give this place zero stars, and I've never even walked through the front door. I called for an emergency, my 10lb dog ate a toxic amount of onions and mushrooms that my father left out accidentally. They told me they were really busy and would have to fit me in as an emergency, which I agreed with, that's perfectly fine with me (I just wanted my dog puked as soon as possible as compared to driving 30mins to the next nearest vet clinic while the toxins are digesting through my small dogs body and seeing as they are less than a minute from my house that would be medically the best option for my pet). Even after offering to restrain and hold my 10lb dog for the doctor while they induced vomiting and sit with her while vomiting (Been a vet tech for 7 years now so I know what I'm doing), after being put on hold four times, they told me they were just far too busy with appointments and "multiple emergencies" to give my dog a simple injection of a drug to induce vomiting. They suggested I go the extra 25 minutes to South Shore VCA (which I prefer anyway), but being in the veterinary field I know to vomit a toxin ASAP! They refused and rejected my poor sick girl no matter how urgent and distressed we were. I was willing to give them all the money they wanted, willing to do the work for them, willing to save my dogs life.. And the only thing they did was prolong my dogs pain and increase the risk of a critical emergency. They did not want to save my dog. This shows that they don't have the best interest for the animals that need them most. Please, please, please! Choose your veterinarians wisely. They are the ones diagnosing what your animals can't tell you. If they disregard your concerns, they will disregard your pet. Good luck current clients and patients of Norwell Veterinary Hospital. (By the way, received amazing and top quality emergency veterinary care at VCA South Shore in Weymouth. Didn't charge me any emergency or exam fees, and they could NOT believe what Norwell did to me and my pooch, they got my little girl feeling better all within 40 minutes. I am new to the area and signed up for an appointment. 1. I felt like I was annoying them when I needed to book and appointment 2. They needed me to drop off my dogs records and I could not have an appt until I physically dropped them off in person. I asked them why and they said they didnt have time to photocopy before my appt. I settled on the South Shore in 1996 and have tried many of the local veterinarians over the years with mixed feelings. I started using Norwell Veterinary Hospital about 8 years ago and could not be happier about the service that my dogs and I have experienced. They go above and beyond in their exams explaining everything that they are doing and making sure that I understand their recommendations. I always feel like I get to make an educated decision in their care. I also always get a follow-up call to see how my dogs are doing after the visit which has not always been the case with every Vet that I have used in the past. I am down to one dog now (as my kids are getting older and heading off to college) and she is now a "senior", I am confident that the care she will receive in her final years by the doctors, technicians and receptionists at Norwell Vet is the best care that she can get on the South Shore. My dog was not a current patient of theirs. He ate something, obviously bad, and was vomiting and pooping everywhere. He is a small bichon so I panicked. I drove to Norwell Vet, pulled up front, 9am, and they took him right over the counter and out back. He needed meds, labs and IV. They called me throughout the day with updates. The Norwell Veterinary Hospital is where we have taken our dog Winnie for the last 5 years. We recently had to put her down after being diagnosed with lymphoma. The staff could not have been more compassionate to Winnie and our family through this difficult process. I am definitely a fan of the staff and vets at Norwell veterinary hospital. Great hours and a good location are the first reasons to like the place. Once you're there the office is clean and the waiting room is spacious. The staff is friendly and the vets, especially Dr KC Horrigan, are honest and caring. I trust Dr Horrigan 100% with my dogs. I don't know what I'd do without her guidance about the health of my two dogs. She is the best!! read more

Six years later and we are still clients for our 2 miniature schnauzers and 3 kitties. Wish they had told us about the 15% senior discount as soon as my husband turned 60 (6 years ago), but we have been enjoying that benefit for a couple of years. The one thing that eats at me - and I wish this would be addressed - is that a routine vaccine requires a veterinary office-visit payment. On a few occasions this has sent me to the vaccine clinic at Petco. Seriously - a vet-tech can administer a vaccine the same way a clinician can at Harvard Vanguard. No need to pay a physician's office visit for this. If veterinary practices were more sensitive to their clients' expenses for responsible pet care, this would be SOP. But it's a huge profit center for them. Also, the stool sample. Please. My dogs do not have worms. I don't need to pay $55 for you to examine their poop and tell me so. If we could dispense with the unnecessary add-ons and over-the-top vaccinations, I'd be a happier client. read more

I have been a client here for over a year and while I love the doctors, especially Maria Ciampa, I have to say there is one receptionist that has always been nasty to me. I cannot remember her name but she is an older woman in her 60's with short light hair. I don't know what her problem is but she is a huge grouch! Every single time I have dealt with her whether it be on the phone or in person, she has an attitude and is very rude! Other than my negative experience with the grouch, the staff and doctors are very friendly and helpful. They are expensive but the facility is super clean and very accommodating. read more

I take my pets here for the top notch doctors and vet techs. Not only are they caring and genuine, they provide professional, knowledgeable care in a very friendly, relaxed, and comfortable manner. The only detriment to this practice is the superiority complex displayed by the front office staff, particularly those who have been there for 12+ years. They are incredibly passive-aggressive and in need of a major attitude adjustment. Seems like their main goal is to let customers know who's the boss around there and to impress upon customers that they aren't just receptionists. To accomplish this, they talk down to customers, act super busy--too busy, in fact, to acknowledge customers with a genuine smile and thank you, and have been heard making passive-aggressive comments about rescheduling to a customer who's a few minutes late even though the doctor was running much later! The rare pleasantries from this duo come off as insincere and superficial, and the tone they've set for the rest of the front office staff is not only palpable, it's infectious--like the freakin' plague. I feel badly for the other front office staff after having witnessed how they've been spoken to by one of these ladies in particular, even when they've just asked a simple question like confirmation on a policy--"absolutely not, definitely not, never, absolutely never ever, definitely not, that should never ever be done, never,nope, that's wrong, never, definitely not." Relax, ladies, and show some genuine enthusiasm for the adorable patients coming through your door day in and day out! And never, ever forget to be gracious to the customers who pay the expensive bills because there are many other qualified vets around! Definitely never forget that! Not ever!! read more

I found a very injured bird on the road and she was in obvious pain. I didn't know what to do so I put her in a box and brought her here. The vet was so kind and euthanized this poor baby! It is awful to watch an innocent animal suffering and I was just so impressed that they had compassion. That's the type of place I want caring for my pets! read more

Yes, Our senior cat that we had adopted several yrs before "2018" Became extremely I'll urinating allot, hardly eating ,took him to see Dr. Bock as I Dealt already with Dr.Bock with my elderly Clients Very Sick cat few yrs before my cat got I'll... and at that Time I would bring my clients sick cat to see Dr,Bock he was over 13 yrs old and just very sick at this point it was determined that his organs where shutting down and she prescribed some med's to make him comfortable and as My Client was elderly and could not get out of the house... Dr. Bock knew this and when it was Cedric's last hours we called Dr.Bock as to how to proceed, she said I will come out with a tech and put Cedric to sleep.. she knew My Clients very bad Rheumatoid Arthritis prevented her from going directly to the vets which was not Far from the office.They where so very compassionate and my client chose to have his remains cremated so they gently wrapped him up in a soft blanket and took care of everything My client not only received his ash's but they took his paw prints and a lock of Fur and presented that with the Ash's!! My /our boy Gabriel was compassionately put to sleep as well and not a huge charge... and Audrey was never charged extra for Dr.Bock coming to my Client. This hospital has always been wonderful in the level of care but also in their personal touch. We recently brought our dog in for a routine visit and our very aware vet ,Trisha Cairns, detected a mass near her spleen. Turns out to have been a massive tumor on her spleen. Had it not been caught when it was, it could have easily burst and she would not have been with us today. There is a great level of compassion and concern from the reception desk to the nurses who assist the doctor. We would not go anywhere else and recommend them highly. read more

When I got there they insisted on so many tests although I had brought my records from my previous vet, charged me almost $1000 and then wanted me to come back.
