I used to take our 4 dogs to Banfield in Cypress. We stopped using them for a variety of reasons. My experience 2 minutes ago will hopefully steer other clear of this careless place. I have a toy poodle with diabetes. She gets insulin shots twice each day. Her new vet, Fairfield Animal Hospital, takes great care of her and I would recommend over this dump. Her insulin was recently increased and seems to be working nicely. However, we have almost run out of vetsulin for her and they did not have any in stock. This leads me to the reason for this review. I called Banfield and they actually HAVE the vetsulin in stock. However, I was told they could not sell me the bottle because my dog had not been there recently. The HAVE the medicine, but won't sell it to me even though I have prescription in hand.Fifi Even you want your dog cared for and loved, STAY AWAY from BANFIELD CYPRESS! As far as pet care goes they are sufficient. However I have been misquoted on price and quite badly. I had a recent experience where upon booking my dog I was told he was due for less check ups than he was actually due for and the prices I was quoted were way off. I was initially quoted $75 for the office visit (accurate) and approximately 20-25 for a nail clipping (also accurate) and approximately 25 for fecal/deworming which was wildly inaccurate. The price for that was in reality $78 and that is not counting the other injections my dog needed which were not quoted to me at the time of booking. In summary I was initially quoted and budgeted for a price of $120 and my total actual charges were $270 read more

I dropped of my fur love, due to a scary cough he had yesterday, and I had a parent teacher conference to be at. (3:50) I also text a video of the excessive coughing episode from yesterday. I soon got a phone call, at 4:11 pm. Doctor inform me that it was a reverse cough. AS ALWAYS.... But I needed a bit more. I believe I felt chest congestion. Yet the doctor didn't detect anything as such, and offer to do XRays. He mentioned that I can provide my fur love with antibiotics, which the doctor did provide a prescription for antibiotics for my fur love. He mentioned a animal food that support hair balls. -1* However at the time of pickup, the doctor was gone for the day, and no one was aware of any food available for dogs. Only cats, and that is NOT SAFE to give to dogs (it's hazardous to they kidneys and lung functions). Cori checked me out, and applied the first cost free coupon, that made my week. This banfield is the absolute worst experience with a vet I have ever had. My dog is almost 17 so it's not like I haven't had my fair share of visits to other offices. After recently relocating to Cypress we decided to transfer our pets records to this location and all I can say is all the reviews on yelp are correct. This place is terrible. Recently my pet was unable to walk due to extreme deterioration of her hip joint. She has no cartilage and when she walks it is bone on bone. This is extremely painful for her . As a result we have her on a pain medicine we got from a emergency room visit that has bought a little more time with our baby girl. In order to get the prescription refilled we had to bring her in to a primary care doctor for a $200 evaluation. We were prescribed the drugs from a Dr. Singh. When we went to fill the prescription because we are running low (she needs to dose twice daily) we were told they were out of the medicine. I was advised they would send the prescription to a local Sam's club that had inventory. When I called Sam's club to check on the prescription I was advised it had not been sent. When I called the banfield back to make them aware of the situation I was told to have Sam's club pharmacy send a request and they would sign it. When I advised banfield that Sam's club pharmacy said they don't send request for prescriptions but that it is standard for the prescription to be sent from the prescribing doctor to them I was told that they would not do this because Dr. Singh is out for the week and that if we wanted to have the doctor that is there to send the prescription it would require us bring her back for another $200 visit. They acknowledged that her file showed the prescription as her previous visit was only 8 days ago. So they refused to send for the medicine. Side note. They explained they have been out of the medicine we need for a month. Which means the doctor was aware he was prescribing a medicine they did not have. So now we are out of medicine...and my dog is having trouble walking again. These are the worst animal care specialist. Do not bring your pet here unless you care less about your pet than they do. I had a simple question for their front desk. I asked to determine if my dog was chipped when we had him fixed or not. Extern (don't know her name) could not pull up the records and didn't ask anyone for help. I asked to speak with Dr Flores and apparently he was too busy to speak with a customer for 30 seconds, the excuse from the Extern was he was gone, then she changed it to he's here but going to be on calls. I asked if I can bring my dog back to their location within 5 minutes but apparently they don't close at 7 they close at 6:30 so that was another dead-end. Everyone wants to go home on time but don't advertise you stay open to 7 when you don't. Also, try to be more customer friendly. Not renewing my contract for my 3 dogs *$160 a month * and also going to go to Copperfield banfield from now on. They are much nicer and easier to work with. read more

After many grieving months of our 15 year old Persian cat, Sassy. My family and I feel it is best to share our story with other pet lovers to understand their risk at Banfield Pet Hospital. On 5/3/2019 Sassy was taken in for her annual visit. After bloodwork she was diagnosed with chronic renal disease. They told us this is common in older cats and can be easily managed. So she stayed to receive fluids for the rest of the day with them. My mother and I picked her up later that evening and she had perked up a lot and was purring and meowing at us. They suggested additional fluid therapy the next day and a new special kidney diet. We started her on a new prescription kidney diet which she gobbled up that night and was as happy as ever. We brought her back the following day (5/4/19) for additional fluid therapy and later received a phone call stating she was not doing well. Upon arrival, we were informed her fluid rate was mistakenly set at 111 mls an hour for almost 3 hours INSTEAD of 11 mls an hour. This caused Sassy to be induced with pulmonary edema (fluid in her lungs) by the veterinary staff. Dr. Flores then told us she would need to be rushed to BluePearl ER in Katy BY US!!!! That was the worst 35 minute drive for us with our beloved cat dying in my arms while my mom drove frantically to try and save our cat. She was rushed in and that was the last time we saw our Sassy alive. That night she died. 15 years of memories, unconditional love to come to an end due to the negligence and irresponsible staff of Banfield Animal Hospital! I say again, for 3 hours not a single staff member didn't notice Sassy was 10 TIMES OVER on her fluid rate? The fact the Veterinary assistant/Veterinarian didn't monitor her or put her rate in correctly shows the quality of care you are paying top dollar for. Our cat had more years to live her life with us, no thanks to Banfield. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT THEM BECAUSE BANFIELD DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR ANIMALS. read more

So.. I'd say it's worth taking your pet here if you've got a puppy or kitten so you can get all their shots and have them "fixed", the insurance plan is only useful in this case because it covers everything you need for a new pet. Outside of that I would not recommend this vet for anyone or their pet. My cat passed after I took him to their office many times due to rapid weight loss and lack of appetite, getting told he was just an older cat and nothing was wrong, only to find out a month later at a different ER he was in late stage kidney failure and there was nothing we could do. This past year I had a similar situation happen with my dog, they gave my 12 year old pup a rabies vaccine that ended up triggering her auto immune disorder that we had no idea she even had. We had to take her to a different vet to get more information because Banfield pretty much said we were SOL with their facility and had to seek help elsewhere. The other vet told us they don't normally vaccinate older dogs unless they're outdoor or high risk for infection, so it's astounding to me they didn't even mention that to us at Banfield. She was due for her shot and they simply administered it. She passed away 2 weeks later. I've lost too many pets to what I believe was gross negligence to ever trust them with my pet's lives again. I have my young puppy going there right now, but even when I was concerned with his limping and whining at around 6 months I was told "he's jumping on everyone so seems fine." I had to take him in 2 more times for them to do an x-ray and find out he has hip dysplasia. Nuts lol. After the year is up I will be taking him to a different vet office because I truly don't trust them to do what they need to do for our animals to live long healthy lives. They seem nice enough it just feels like there's more that they could do to prevent this types of issues from occurring. read more

Would not recommend. I usually go to the banfield on Shepherd in town and I like it there. My dog was diagnosed with a murmur at a separate vet. I asked the vet here to see if he heard it to. He took her to the back for five minutes and did a "comprehensive exam". He claimed he did not hear it. I felt like everything was rushed and did not trust him with my dog to go under anesthesia to get her teeth cleaned. So I went to my usual spot and asked her to listen for the murmur. So he either did not even listen or it was so rushed he didn't hear it. I will continue making the drive into town to get my dog treated instead of here. read more

Took my Sick dog first thing on a monday morning who has a Wellness plan with them. Mind u he was here Last week with a skin rash and I left them a bad review. A tech Blew up my phone trying to right the situation but of course he was no where to be found. 35 minutes after the doctor walked in, he had no surgeries, just his Starbucks to enjoy while my dog sat on my lap anxious and in pain. Took my kid's kitten here for his first shots. Checked for worms, told me his age, yadda yadda. No worms. Yay! So very wrong. Less than a week later, worms. Yeah... Not a great experience here. They trick unsuspecting owners into purchasing the wellness plan for a monthly charge. However the plan only covers shots. If anything happens to your pet outside of that your paying for it. And it's not cheap. When I did take my pretty in to get neutered I was told that his platelet count was low and I needed to pay $99 to get blood work done. I did so and was never contacted after that concerning the results. I finally started calling and they had no idea what I was talking about. Then someone told me "oh his bloodworks good, you can reschedule it". I till this day have no idea what I payed for. I know there's ranting on here a lot, but take the advice. I have a 10 week old doberman puppy. We had her dewclaws removed and her ears cropped at a different clinic almost 2 weeks ago. I believe my puppy has a UTI, dropped her off at 8AM. Dr Flores called me (at 2PM) claiming he cannot get any urine from her, (it's been 6 hours at this point and she hadn't peed once.......... and she's a puppy ???? doubtful.) and he's gonna send her home with a urine collection kit for us to collect the urine ourselves and then drop it back off, not a problem. I get there to pick her up and her gauze covering her dewclaws (because she had surgery to have them removed) were SOAKED in urine. If I squeezed her paws I could of filled the urine collection cup with all the urine soaked in her gauze. They wanted to send her back home with us with the gauze covering her stitches covered in urine!!! When I requested to speak with Dr Flores about my unhappiness with the care my dog received, and that her urine soaked stitches was unacceptable he then tried to tell me that what I did to my dogs ears was unacceptable!! Dr Flores I never once asked your opinion on what to do with MY dogs ears, and you only tried to flip the narrative because you know what you did was WRONG!! I do not recommend this place, I will be finding a new Banfield clinic to take my puppy. (Only staying with banfield because of the puppy insurance program) This hospital gets ZERO STARS FROM ME!! read more

I took my gf dog to get her FIRST check up at Banfield and it was a total disaster. Originally they were supposed to flush her colon which they forgot to do. Next, they forgot to get me there asthma medicine. Then they took a biopsy of a growth on her chest only to find out a week later that we couldn't get the results because they had lost the biopsy and we then had to return to have them take another sample. To top it all off she has been itching her ears ever since the first time she was there. My poor dog. read more

The kicker came when we checked out and they wanted to charge us an additional $150, after we ut down to contact us for anything more than $100 (which we were never contacted). The reps at the desk played dumb and called their office manager who refused to waive it because it was never authorized. Called and emailed Banfield and noone really cared to offer any help. I have a 3 month old Yorkshire Terrier puppy named Maximus and we had a visit scheduled for him today @ 3:30 at this Banfield. We were contacted at 12:47 pm and advised our appt was canceled due to an emergency that required the vets full attention. Now don't get me wrong, I would want any needed attention for our baby just like them. However when my husband asked what is the contingency plan. He was advised they didn't have one and we could call another location and "SEE" if they could see us. He explained that this was a bad experience and that they should have more than one vet one the weekend since most people off, or in the event there is an emergency. My idea of being prepared is to have another vet available or on call to see patients in the event of an emergency, or have an overflow plan with other offices in your area in order to make sure your patients are seen. After attempting to explain that to the this to the representative we were called back by the manager Tamika. Tamika did not call with a solution she reiterated what we had been told and began telling us what Control they don't have. She argued with my husband about the situation and was not very polite. She advised that the scheduling is out of her control and done by the corporate office. Honestly the reason for her call is unknown and she was not able to articulate it in any way. It seems her call was just to let us know we would be accepting this like it or not. I am currently not happy with this service and will be contemplating a new vet. To be clear whatever the emergency I hope that pet is well and I wish no ill will to them. I would just like Banfield to be more prepared. read more

I learned the hard way about Banfield Pet Hospital after losing my 7 year old cat! Never felt good about the vet at this Cypress, TX location. Next, they administered a combination of vaccines to my 1.9 lb. Pomeranian after I had shared the paperwork from the breeder that specifically said to space out the shots on the tiny dogs. My pup became sick that night. I took her to a different hospital (not a Banfield) the next day. After being informed more about vaccines with small breeds at the new hospital, I've since learned my older dogs should have never been given the lepto shot which has likely caused some of their health issues & they over vaccinate the dogs. None of my pets are being serviced by Banfield any longer. I just wished I had been the wiser 7 years ago! I have heard similar reports from many other people since moving my pets. Please do your research before taking your precious pets to Banfield!!! read more

I would give zero stars if I could. I was at Petsmart looking for cranberry pills for dogs (and they don't carry but they have for cats) so I went to talk to the vet. The lady at the counter talked to the vet and came back and talked to me. I asked since the vet was in can I make an appointment. My dog was peeing blood and my vet was closed. She gave me an appointment time and set me up as a NEW customer since I had never been there. told me to come back at my time and bring a urine sample. I cam back at my time and brought a urine sample. They asked for other documentation. I said what other stuff. I was told to bring a urine sample and that is it. They said My dog could not be seen since I did not have her shot record. I proceed to tell them they did not request me to bring them and she goes to puppy training camp at Petsmart so I have provided them before and there is a rabies tag on her collar they can easily verify. The tried to call my vet (HELLO I made the appointment with you cause they were closed) and then told me my vet was closed so they can't get shot records. They told me they will make an appointment for Monday and turned me away. I said 'I will see my vet on Monday since they are open' I was p'off because they set me up as a NEW customer never asking for records and why couldn't they test the urine sample and prescribe antibiotics. Sorry to read the bad reviews. Squiggles has been a patient at this location for 5 years and has always gotten the best attention. The staff makes sure that he is update on all shots and always treats him with kindness. Dr. Jackson was the last doctor to see Squiggles and I wish that I had a doctor that was as concerned about me as he was with my dog. read more

I have had my dogs for 8 years now and traveled all over the US visiting several different veterinarians and never have I seen such horrible service as this place. The veterinarian isn't the problem it is their administrative services that have caused countless headaches. Missed appointments, payment disputes, and constant miscommunication has been a problem there. The low price attracted me to them but you definitely get what you pay for. I'll try a different Banfield and if I get the same service quality I will be done with anything Banfield. read more

I absolutely love taking my Yorkies to Banfield. D. King is wonderful. Bought our first puppy in November and brought her in for her first exam. We were blessed that the only problem was that our puppy had her shots too early. We had her spayed at the clinic as well and everything went well. We have been so pleased with the level and quality of the care our puppy received that we even brought the puppy we bought two Weeks ago here too. They are so good about making sure that you understand how to best care for your pet. They even call and check on them after their appointments and even surgeries. I have a 4yr old lab that was diagnosed with IMHA last year and I recently moved to Houston from austin and went to this location. Dr. Penner, before reading my dog's file, said she thought he could have cancer and wanted to run thousand dollar tests without doing the bloodwork I asked for. Charlie went to the vet almost once a week for a year in austin due to his condition and even though I'm not a vet, I'm more than aware of the protocol. She fought with me on his meds and dosed him too high on steroids. The second vet, Dr. Felts ran a very expensive blood panel and never called me back with results. The results came back that he now has IMTP (ugly cousin of IMHA) and I only found out about it because Dr Bowen (Banfield Mueller in Austin) called to tell me. They refuse to run the simple tests and be accommodating. I have tried all bets at this location and they only seem to want to charge me high prices and could care less about the actual health of my dog. It has been nothing short of a nightmare. They told me "you should stop seeing the different vets here and just stick to one". That was the last straw for me. Now, I drive to austin to make sure my fur child has the care he needs. Long story short- don't go to this location if something is actually wrong with your pet. read more

Took kitten in to be neutered. Dropped off at 7am. While there I asked for them to look at the kittens eyes for discharge. I arrived to pick the kitten up and when asked what they found on the eyes, I was told to purchase an over the counter vitamin and if this did not work in about a week call back and the doctor will write a prescription. I called back a week later and left several messages and never received a call back. I called again on a Saturday morning and was told the doctor said it was not an emergency and she was busy! I thought they took care of our extended family, but after no follow up call on Monday decided I needed to take the kitten to another bet who would treat my pet like as requested and as an emergency. I pay a monthly fee to have a company that does not care about the animals they treat or claim to treat. If they lack the customer service or pure kindness to follow up on a matter that I demmed as an emergecy, how are they treating our animals while out of our site? As of today I have contact customer service over 4 times and still have not received a call back. When I called customer service I was told they would credit me for two month for the issue. I pay monthly for pet care at Banfiled. This was not done either. This company is full of unprofessional people who do not care about customer service or our pets, be very cautious when taking your pets to this company and this location.
