In quickly late at night. Super friendly staff and very nice facility. Would be my first call for any future pet emergency.

I called ahead to let the clinic know I was on my way with my sick cat and specifically asked that they call me back if they wouldn't be able to see her. No one ever called me back. I arrived around 5 minutes before their posted closing time. The doors were already locked. I happened to see a staff member walking inside, and when she opened the door, I explained that I had called and had asked to be notified if they weren't accepting any more patients. I was upset--rightfully so. She said she would check, but apparently the "team" had already decided they wanted to go home instead of helping one more seriously ill cat. To her credit, the employee gave me addresses of other clinics that were still open, which I appreciated. But the complete lack of follow-up or professionalism when I gave them every chance to communicate is what upset me most. You're an emergency vet. If you close early or stop accepting patients, communicate that--especially when someone is en route with a sick animal. That simple courtesy would've saved valuable time and stress in an already heartbreaking moment. read more

Absolutely terrible experience while having a crisis with my dog. My dog bit a toad, was foaming at the mouth, and having trembles. I brought him to this place because it was the closest to my home. They checked his vitals and brought me to a waiting room and than told me I had to call pet poison before they could treat him, fine. I was on the phone with pet poison for 20 minutes, gave them the case number and than waited another 20/30 for the tech to call pet poison. Fast forward an hour, the vet still has not even came in to check on us and my dog is deteriorating (he's borderline seizuring and throwing up foam. I can hear the staff in the back laughing, spraying this chemical that was making me and my dog cough, and being overall unprofessional. At this point I knock on the door to ask for an update. They blatantly lie and say they just got off the phone with poison control. I heard the whole conversation and the call ended 30 mins prior to this. The tech, NOT THE VET, comes back in a few mins later to tell me they can't assist us I need to go to an animal hospital that is 22 minutes away! No compassion, no apologies, nothing. At this point I was livid and asked if they knew they didn't have the equipment to treat my dog why did they keep us here for 1.5 hours waiting. She was so rude and said the vet had to talk to poison control first. My comprehension is a expertised compassionate vet would've realized that my dog may have bitten a toxic toad and instead of wasting my time would've advised me to go to this animal hospital from the start. Avoid this place. Drive an extra 22 minutes and go to Veterinarian Emergency Group in the first place, that vet actually approached me within 5 mins and showed compassion and reassurance. read more

Two hours before closing, I bring my dog in with under eye swelling and was turned away because they did not have dental equipment for a "proper xray" to determine what was going on, for swelling under his eye...they decided this without asking me ANY questions. I get the chance to explain what happened that could have caused this, like a blow to the side of the face by my other dog the day I saw the swelling start, and after returning to the room a second time, I'm told "the doctor doesn't think that makes sense." They tried to turn me to the emergency room for this non-emergency. I feel I was turned away due to the hour and them not wanting to fully sedate anyone's dog for an xray. Not even sure why an xray would be needed if a blow to the side of the face ACTUALLY DOES MAKE SENSE. Two mornings later and the swelling went down and he's FINE. I'm so glad they didn't care to help my dog that night, I saved over $600, so I give two stars and not just one. Also, how about putting it in asterisk on your website *we cannot see any injury that may involve the jaw or any injury past the eye socket where X-rays are required for diagnosis and treatment. I can't tell you how grateful I am for this clinic and their team. My dog of 14 years was recently diagnosed with bone cancer in her head, and it metastasized into her lungs. We wanted desperately to let her pass comfortably in her home. Unfortunately, her pain was too severe, and we had to make the horrible decision to put her down. We headed up to the Urgent Care facility and were met by Ethan. He took us to a room in the back of the clinic that was set up much like a living room. The room was so comfortable that Mona seemed to relax right away. The team was so kind and so comforting to us. They stated numerous times that we could take a long as we needed to say goodbye, and they truly meant it. This is the most difficult review I've ever had to write. I had to put my beloved cat, Frenchie, down Friday (December 23, 2022) evening. She lost the use of her back legs within seconds of being fine. I scooped her up immediately and started looking for the nearest pet ER. I was completely unprepared for what was to come. I called the ER and was asked to reserve a time slot online, so I did. My cat was crying so much, I decided to drive over and see if they could see us early. They were able to squeeze her in, thank goodness! The facility was very clean, smelled nice and it was quiet. The technician who first assisted us was very calm and kind. She kept talking to Frenchie and calling her "Friend". Each room had a speaker with soft music playing and a pheromone diffuser plugged into the wall. Dr. Smith (female) was our vet that evening. She listened to my girl's heart and calmly spoke to me about what had happened. Frenchie had a blood clot and it caused the blood to be restricted to her back legs. At the time, I couldn't hear much of what Dr. Smith was trying to say because I was so upset, but I will never forget her calm demeanor. She did not offer a treatment plan, because there was nothing that could be done. They asked if I wanted to be present for the euthanasia. I absolutely wanted to be present, so they took Frenchie in the treatment room to place the IV catheter. They took me out of the exam room and into a room with a couch and single chair. The lighting came from a table lamp, no harsh overhead florescent lights above. The rooms was quiet with soft music playing in the background. They had a snack shelf with Cheez Whiz, Hershey Kisses, dog treats and other items to give your baby as they slip off to cross the Rainbow Bridge. I thought that was a really nice touch. The room had boxes of tissue for use. Dr. Smith and her technician came into the room and placed Frenchie in my arms. She asked if I wanted some time with her alone, but I knew my baby was in too much pain, so I asked her to proceed. My sweet girl drifted off and was no longer in pain. I give UrgentVet 5 starts because of how they handled the situation. My Frenchie was 18-1/2 years old. I found her in a sewer at 10-14 days old, she had to be bottled fed, so I truly became her mama. We went through so much in our 18-1/2 years together, and though that means nothing to anyone reading this review, it meant the world to me that I was given the quiet and peaceful space with her during our last minutes together. Dr. Smith's calm nature made this experience so much easier. In moments like this when you are losing a family member, you want a place like UrgentVet. Not that money was a factor at all in this situation, but pricing can sometimes be a deciding point for people. My final bill was $364.00 that evening. That included the appointment, doctor exam, euthanasia and cremation; I chose communal. I used to be a vet tech, so I am well aware of what things cost in the animal world. I thought their prices were lower than I have seen with previous pets. I think they have options for payment plans and/or a care credit for financial assistance, if needed. Dr. Smith, thank you. I am still so broken hearted, but your calm soft tones made this easier for me during that awful night. Your facility is nice and I appreciated the atmosphere. I love you, my Frenchie. Staff got defensive when I asked for clarification on what was wrong with my dog. If you can't articulate something without getting flustered, you definitely shouldn't be the one standing between our pets and potential harm. "I am trained to do this" doesn't help people understand at all and only proves you're insecure. Save yourself the time and expense, go somewhere else. read more

Cypress Urgent Vet has friendly staff who purport themselves as animal lovers. This review is about the corporation and how it makes the staff behave. I went to the Cypress location for an ear laceration on my two year old Rottie. We drove 40 minutes to get there because they were the only ER facility available on Sunday, 9/15. The bill came up to $1072.69 for the repair, medical supplies, take home medication and cone/ecollar. I got about 3 more quotes to reduce that cost and treat the laceration at home. To ensure my dawgter got the best quality of medical attention, I paid everything in full. They warned me that I will be charged for a consultation fee if they find an infection on the next visit. On 9/17, which was two days from the surgery and after reassurance of the quality from staff, the $40 ecollar/cone broke and I was refunded by the manager. 9/28 I took her back to get her stitches removed and they told me that dehiscence occurred. I was shocked because I followed all of the instructions about her medication and care provided by them. To cover themselves they went on about the fragility of the ear, my signature on documents saying it might require additional procedures and recommended I use a happy hoodie to cover her ears. For the first time, they explained this to me but the damage was done and the money was spent. Due to being formally scammed, I started asking more questions about their products and services they were offering me to fix this. They wanted to get $500 MORE from me to disinfect her ear and tie it down. Plus, a follow up delayed suture procedure that would cost me another $1K. With this inquiry, I found out they were charging a $20 service fee per drug, that could not be waived, on top of marking up the drugs over 200%. When I asked to source the drugs somewhere else, the tech exposed me to the world of dog pharmacies which were in CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Costco, Sam's Club, HEB, Kroger and Chewy. They had $10 drugs that this location was selling for $80. Man, I was fuming. The branch manager waived the consult fee and suggested I got to a more affordable vet. Clearly, I was able to afford their services because I paid them the first time without a discount nor negotiation. Reader, I am pissed that they charged me $1k to hit a quick lick (easy money scam.) Then, they acted like they did me a favor by waiving a consultation fee that should have been given the day I PAID $1072.69‼ They knew 9/15 that the ear was sensitive and problematic to heal. They knew 9/15 that she needed a happy hoodie. They knew 9/15 that the medications and care would not be enough to ensure everything went smoothly. They knew 9/15 that dehiscence was a possibility. Yet, they waited until 9/28 to disclose any of this. I'm giving this place two stars only because I visited twice. In all seriousness, I want to give it zero stars because my puppy is still waiting to feel better. Meaning, they failed at their mission. On a brighter note, I learned to get written prescriptions from vets to avoid up charges, buy your own ecollar/cone, avoid vet chains because they value their dollar not what's in the best interest of your pet and get before/after photos to document their work. For Houston Residents looking for quality vet services at a fraction of this company's price, go to Veteran's Memorial Drive Animal Hospital. To perform a delayed suture, they charged me $545. This included the surgery, blood work, post-surgery boarding and labor costs. They have donated medication in case you aren't able to source the meds from other places in time. Staff is friendly and not thirsty to scam you out of money to meet corporate demands. I'd really love to attach photos of the before/after comparing the sutures from UVC and VMDAH. They are literally night and day. So no, the high price does not always reflect the quality. I paid less with VMDAH and got more. This place is absolutely amazing. They care. Bedside manner is outstanding. Care and knowledge are outstanding. Pricing is extremely fair. I recommend them without any reservation! So here's a story, one of two I could share. My dog, Roscoe, ate some grapes last night. My granddaughter told me they are toxic for dogs. I took him there near midnight, but called first. They explained both the physical and chemical concerns. You may know grapes can severely damage the kidneys, can be fatal and often is. It is hard to treat once the grapes are digested because the detailed chemical interactions are not well understood, hence it is difficult to treat after digestion. I immediately took him there. He vomited up the grapes and some food he had eaten earlier. He is doing great! They were very kind to me and Roscoe and provided education that aligned with what I was cramming from the internet. My puppy sounded all congested. When I called my regular vet, it was about a 2 hour wait. I have seen this place when I went to UPS. I couldn't get my dog into his usual vet, so I booked an appointment here online. Really simple website, and even easier to check in! The place is really clean on entry and the check in booths are as you walk in the door! Vicky was the vet assistant who took care of us!! She was super sweet with my dog and was really gentle around his infected ear when she was cleaning it out! She also made sure he had plenty cheese on his lick pad while he was being looked over. They gave us a treatment plan until we get in our usual vet next week. Can't recommend enough. Easy to book online, clean and really friendly helpful staff. read more

I had seen this vet when dropping off packages next door but had been weary of it since I've heard horror stories of other urgent vets, but I was proven wrong today. Our dog broke his nail playing, and our vet was already closed for the day, so we decided to look this place up. There was no wait, and they were open until 8 pm, so just in the nick of time. When we arrived, we were greeted by a tech who was very friendly and took our dogs' weight, temperature, and basic information to provide to the doctor. Dr. Heath was very friendly as well and very knowledgeable. He provided us with two different options for treatment and reassured us about the recovery time as well as the procedure being quick. They put our dog to sleep, removed the nail, bandaged him up, and woke him back up. We were very pleased with how quickly it was taken care of and also how affordable it was since we were assuming it would have cost thousands of dollars, I mean, it is an urgent vet after all. We were given aftercare instructions and sent on our way a few minutes after 8pm. I hope to not have to return, but if we do, I know that my dog will have care as well as his regular vet. In case your appointment does take quite a bit of time, they offer drinks, snacks, and coffee in the lobby. I highly recommend this vet for anyone in need of help and also suggest checking in online for a speedy visit! read more

Last Tuesday I was absolutely mortified when I heard my poor dachshund scream from my backyard I rushed him inside and It turned out he had been bit by a coyote and there was a huge gash on the side of his body. I drove my dog to the closest vet to me that was open at the time. They told me to fill out a form and they would get back to me, when they told me to go to a room I expected to see my dog or a doctor but I was just sitting there waiting for about 30 minutes until someone came into the room to inform me that In order to make the procedure they would have to put him under anesthesia and other thing in the end it cost me around 2000 dollars. On following Thursday I had to take him to get his drain taken out and when I got there they told me they messed up his stitches and I would need to pay 500 dollars to get them fixed. I told them I would not pay that amount of money for something they messed up so I took him home and wrapped him in a bandage and started calling other vets for estimates, I ended up going to a low cost veterinarian that was very attentive and when I got their the nice doctor told me that in total the procedure would have Probably been about 300 dollars if he had done it and the stitches he ended up doing we're only 150 dollars. But the people at urgent vet were very nice people and I would recommend for any emergency's. read more

Took my kitten in after she was throwing up repeatedly and barely moving at 5 pm (they close at 8) after calling ahead and they proceeded to continue to let walk ins go ahead of me. Finally saw me at around 7:25, they wanted to take an X-Ray, and basically said "it could be a foreign object stuck, which can be fatal if not treated within the next hour. We can't do anything here because we are closing but we will call ahead to a different vet and send the XRays." They charged me $550 for the X-Rays (which they sent the wrong file type to the place I was going so I had to get them done again). The other vet judged was a misdiagnosis and so I basically got charged $550 for a waste of time. There was no sense of urgency. I spoke to someone on the phone afterwards who was extremely rude, and she said "if you have a complaint go to the better business bureau" as well as "we let other walk ups go ahead of you because we deemed them more important". Which I think is funny because the diagnosis they gave me was that my cat could die within the next hour. read more
