Review Highlights - Banfield Pet Hospital

I got the Optimum Wellness plan which I thought was much more beneficial than the VPI pet insurance I had because it covered more the preventative care.

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT ABOUT YOUR PET…read more Today I had one of the worst healthcare experiences of my life at Bond Vet - Somerville. Full story below. My dog has been a Bond Vet patient for years. Last week, he was treated for an issue that did not resolve with the prescribed antibiotics. I called the Somerville office last night to explain my concerns about his ongoing symptoms and was instructed that I should bring him in right away this morning for an emergency appointment. When I arrived, there were 0 other patients in the office - all exam rooms were empty, as was the waiting room. I asked the receptionist, Hannah, how long I should expect to wait and she informed me that Dr. Rahel Lungo was in the back doing paper work and would not be able to see my pet. I explained that I had specifically taken time off from work to bring my pet in, per the office's insturctions, and expressed my confusion that a veterinarian could not take a few minutes to evaluate a sick patient already sitting in the clinic. Despite this, I was told there was "nothing they could do" and was directed to drive to another Bond Vet location 30 minutes away. I found the entire interaction unacceptable. This was one of the least patient-centric healthcare experiences I have ever encountered. The issue was not capacity constraints or an overwhelmed office - the clinic was visibly empty. The issue was a complete lack of accountability, urgency, and basic compasion from Dr. Rahel Lungo. It is deeply concerning to me that a veterinary organization that positions itself as modern and customer-focused would treat a long-standing patient in this manner. As a result of this experience, I will no longer be bringing my pet to Bond Vet. To Bond Vet - I encourage you to assess if this a problem isolated to Dr. Rahel Lungo or if this is a broader reflection of Bond Vet's position on patient care.

They consistently have trouble drawing blood, and the appointments always feel rushed, like they're trying to move on to the next patient as quickly as possible. On top of that, the pricing is pretty outrageous for the level of care provided. It's disappointing because the location and setup are great, but the experience just hasn't felt thorough or worth the cost.

But yes, they were wonderful during that time. So bedside manner is fantastic and they are friendly. Since then???? I'm so angry right now! Our present dog was diagnosed with advanced cancer and given a month to live. She was diagnosed at the emergency vet clinic in Lebanon (fantastic, by the way. Highly recommend). We've been managing her symptoms and keeping her comfortable. She's done extremely well so far but today is a really bad day. Because we live about an hour from Lebanon, we called our regular vet, Charlestown Vet, hoping that they could refill her antinausea meds. Of course not. After being on hold for about 10 minutes, they said that they couldn't refill anything without seeing the dog. This is a tactic that every vet does. I know, I used to work for vets and yeah... they want to see the dog $$$$$. But besides that, they failed to diagnose her cancer in the first place, something they've done before. They didn't think that they needed to listen to the owner (my daughter), who told them during her last visit that she had concerns. When we tried to get in to see the vet for follow ups, we couldn't get an appointment! Okay... we were fine until we weren't anymore. And by the way... my daughter found the antinausea meds online! Thank you, Charlestown vet for caring for our dog so well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't bring your dog or cat there! Seriously! It's sad that I have to leave this kind of a review. I respect veterinarians but this??? NO!!!!

We had an appointment today with one of the new doctors, Dr. Ramsey, and he went above and beyond to make sure both of my boys were taken care of. He did a thorough ear exam for both of them when I let him know that I was concerned - and even offered to clip one of their nails while he was behaving on the scale when I mentioned how much trouble I have doing it at home! He even gifted both of them with bandanas after a long visit. Thank you Dr. Ramsey and Charlestown Vet! Special shoutout to Olivia and the two other techs who gave both my boys a ton of love and treats while cleaning out their ears! You guys are the best!

The office seemed disorganized from the moment I arrived. The facility itself appeared small, dirty and not well maintained, which is concerning when you're bringing a pet in for care. The costs were also much higher than expected for the services provided. What made the experience even worse was the attitude of one of the veterinarian's tech, Julia. She was rude and lacked professionalism, making an already stressful visit even more unpleasant. After my pet had already been seen, I was left waiting an additional 45 minutes just to pay and leave. There seemed to be little regard for clients' time or overall experience. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would not recommend this clinic and will be seeking veterinary care elsewhere in the future. I hope they seek training on customer service!

Instead of offering any help or veterinarian advice (it's almost as if I went to an animal clinic or something), he decided to stand there and lecture me - even though I have every intention of keeping the entire litter. The tone and conversation (monologue) was condescending and wildly inappropriate. After strutting out of the room to ask the vet something next door, both of these morons started to make fun of both myself, as well as my cats. Not sure if they realize how thin the walls are, but we can hear you, my dear. This was the same energy throughout the entire staff, mind you. I have been here before, multiple times, for both my dog and my other cat. I'd like to say that it's usually not like this, except I haven't had a prolonged verbal exchange with the staff prior to today. I would have realized how poor the quality is here - not just of service and veterinarian care, but just poor quality people. These staff here is miserable, and are most likely in this business because the animals they "care" for can't speak. They do not care about you, nor the animals. There are other reviews that suspect they're responsible in part for negligent care that may have resulted in their pets getting sick and passing away. This business needs to be shut down. This staff needs therapy, maybe some time outside. Touch some grass. Stare at the sun. Anything, really, other than taking care of animals in an environment that requires you to have more professional etiquette than a wet napkin. Being the Good Samaritan that I am, and inspired by the moral compass my tech taped to his forehead today, I'll be reporting all of the things I've seen today like the uncleaned blood and loose blood vials (among other very visible issues) to the state board. Good luck with rest of your week, you guys seem like you might need it.
