I like to say for a healthy pet its a great place to have checkups but for other issues that can be other than a sneeze I'd recommend taking your pet to a VCA or a professional pet hospital. Banfield has some inexperience doctor making some inaccurate calls which will make you dig deeper in your wallet. We were told to have a cat spend the night and purchase medication before the blood results came back and it was a premature call on a certain doctor there. We had another similar situation with the same doctor and I hate to say it but she needs to be careful with her assumptions and suspicions she did not have enough hard evidence to be closely accurate. DR. JESSICA THOMPSON is the real deal. We brought our cat, Gino, to the vet thinking we were going to have to put him down. He was on his last leg and wasn't keeping anything down. This was our last hope. Now, Gino is getting better by the day thanks to Dr. Thompson at Gresham Banfield. She saved his life and mended our family. We are truly grateful for her. SHE LISTENED intently and showed care during our time of need. Not only that but she gave us her EMAIL ADDRESS so we could contact her with any questions (which we have and she always responds promptly) AND CALLED to check up the next day. Our cat got sick and when we called Banfield we couldn't get an appointment for 3 days, even when we explained we had pet insurance through them. They didn't ask about the cat's symptoms so I assume they just don't care. We've had issues in the past with this same location but gave them the benefit of the doubt, but no more. read more

I took my pets to Banfield for years and on my dog's last day I took her to another vet clinic where the Vet asked how long my dog had the enlarged stomach, I said a year or longer. He told me that she has a very large mass on her liver and that is why she can't poo. The Banfield vet told me to give her Miramax and she would be fine in a few days. My dog Sadie slowly bled to death inside because Banfield Vets are terrible at what they do. A vet that might cost a little more is worth it because your pets don't deserve budget Vets like they have at banfield. read more

I will never bring my pets to this hospital. First week of February my son took our dog to a so call vet. Dr. Dauphin over looked or miss diagnosed the symptoms of our lovely dog she told to came back in two days if the symptoms do not improve, of course we did not go back for the lousy service we received. We took out dog to a different hospital and we were told that is noting they can do about it. We have to put our dog to sleep in part to the neglect of this vet. She could have been more proactive in her approach she could have save his life. My pug went in to get her nails trimmed and glands extracted, and when we picked her up she couldn't hardly walk on her back legs. (She was perfectly fine going in). We spent many hours that night trying to give her the pain pills that they "gave" us for free, but meanwhile, I have to walk outside with her, holding her hind end up by hand, so that she doesn't put any pressure on that leg so that she can go to the bathroom. I called to express my disappointment and concern for my dog, and they just tell me that she probably just has a soft tissue injury from wailing during her extraction Meanwhile, they get to go home and rest, while I'm at home losing sleep to tend to my puppy that won't eat, drink, and is in pain. There is a reason I haven't been to this hospital in so long, and it was just a last resort to have something simple done. Never again!! Don't waste your time or hard earned money coming here. You and your pet will not get the respect you deserve. read more

Banfield Hospital is the best hospital!!! I had a very sick cat (my baby Cody) and called around to try and get him seen, but because of my financial situation no one would touch us. I called Banfield and without hesitation they told us to bring Cody in! They worked on him immediately and with the utmost kindness. Cody was very sick and I didn't have the money to go the most expensive way to fix him and instead of putting him down (that would have been my nightmare!!) they offered financial help and were able to help Cody immensely! Unfortunately Cody's infection was to far along to save him even after all of that. When Cody died everyone there helped me and my children get through the grief. The Doctors and nurses were supportive and so very kind. They bent over backward to help Cody and to be sensitive to my family and there grief over losing Cody. They ended up charging us NOTHING and paid for his cremation! They were such a HUGE blessing. Not just with the financial help, but also with all the love they put into Cody and his care all the way to the end. Thank you Banfield Doctors and Nurses!!!! I will make a point to donate whenever I can to this hospital and would take my other cat to them in a heartbeat (though I hope I dont need to!)! Thanks, The Keiser Family read more

I have two cats that have both been part of the kitten wellness plan here. With the first cat (male), we had no problems and the vets loved him. However, I have recently become very disappointed with Banfield in their treatment of my female kitten. About a month after having her spayed by Banfield, she started showing signs of going into heat, which confused us. After some research and talking to the vets, we learned the most likely cause was that some tissue was left behind during the spay that now causes her to go into heat. So for the past year, my poor spayed cat has been going into heat regularly, and there is nothing I can do about it. Not only could Banfield not fix the problem for us, they did nothing to try and compensate us for botching her surgery. Over two years we paid hundreds of dollars to them to ensure that our kitten received all of her shots, early check-ups, and was SPAYED so that she could be spared the torments of heat and we could be spared the sleepless nights. I wish I had taken her somewhere else for her surgery. read more

I bought the "Puppy" guide book from PetSmart a couple days before I brought home my new puppy. It has a coupon for a "Free" first exam. I called, made an appt. Yesterday I took my puppy in for her first exam. After going into the exam room, I was hammered by both the tech and the Vet about the value of the Wellness Plan, that I needed it and it would be about $41 a month and such a value. They had not even looked at my puppy yet. Hard-selling me like I would be a bad pet mom if I didn't have the plan and something came up. Then... they weighed her and the Vet started her exam looking at her eyes...she appeared worried as her eyes looked strange, I explained they are marbled (2 colors in each eye) "oh" the vet says. Then, hard sell again about the plan and in Oregon ticks and mosquitos are horrible this year and she needs prevention and the plan covers that. I finally agree to the plan. Then the vet says, "she needs grooming socialization and since she's a fluffy breed, she needs to start being shaved regularly"...I told her "no, she's a mini Australian shepherd, you don't shave mini aussies" the vet just shrugged. I thought about this visit overnight and called the Wellness plans 888 # this morning to cancel. The woman, Christine, refused to cancel the plan unless I paid the balance right now. The paperwork states 4-days to cancel, it had not been 24hrs yet. I went back to the clinic after work. After much back and forth with the gal at the counter, she canceled the plan and charged me an additional $79 on top of the $106 I paid yesterday. Never going back again with my pup!! The vet doesn't even know an Australian Shepherd from a Poodle! Just sell the Plan is all they were interested in! And....it was $63 a month NOT $41. Don't go there thinking you will get a FREE first exam!! That coupon is a ruse to get you in the PLAN!! read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE!!!!! We took our Pomeranian here over the last few years and was constantly told a different diagnosis and they had me paying hundreds of dollars each time. We took our Pom for some blood tests that once again they recommended and were charged 402 and some change, NEVER ONCE were we told after we had picked her up that she had suffered a stroke, NEVER! when we picked her up we immediately noticed her eyes were hazy and she could hardly walk, we took her back in where they acted surprised and charged me another 300 hundred to put her on oxygen, mind you they should have done that when it initially happened, after that we took her to a different hospital over a half hour away and the vet verified that she had most likely had a stroke while there and due to their neglect of my baby we had to put her down. I'm completely heart broken and devastated that I was not made aware of this issue prior. These people should be ashamed! This is the absolute worst vet I have ever experienced. They are really good at finding things that are wrong with my dog, but when I ask to see the results myself they refuse to show me. I've had my dog on the wellness plan for a couple years now, and they keep increasing the price without letting me know, then tried to charge me a cancellation fee! The last straw was finding out that the doctors receive kickbacks for prescribing royal canine and Hills diet foods.. put my dog on the food after feeling pressured into buying it, and after a week he refused to eat. He wouldn't even smell the food, which smelled so rancid. Took it back to get my money back, and the tech that helped me accidentally let it slip that the doctors get commissions to sell that food. The help is a joke, they made my dog sick, and they keep trying to get more of my money. Be careful if they recommend that food for your pet! read more

Normally, service is excellent. Not today. I called to get a refill for my dog's pain medicine and to see about an appointment because his eye has a growth and it was oozing and watering. He was obviously in pain. I had one pain pill left. Because I had to call another office to get an estimate on removing a cancerous tumor, I was able to get an appointment for the next day at 4:30 PM. They called wanting to cancel my request for the refill because I was being seen the next day. I explained it was over 24 hours and I had one pill left. She said she hoped the doctor would be able to get back to me because they were swamped. Well they didn't and I will now have to listen to my dog whine for 12 hours until I can get to his appointment tomorrow. How hard can it be to order a refill for pick up? read more

Banfield helped identify my baby girl (I say baby, but she's 15 years old) had kidney issues and recommended a diet to treat it. Had I not had the comprehensive exam as part of my wellness plan, I never would have known she was sick, as she had no signs. This one exam by the doctor helped extend her life by 2-3 years which is worth every penny. Preventive care for your pets is just as important as those for your human kids. We are from out of town and needed a bordatella vaccine for our 1 year old Sheltie. We had never used any Banfield before. I found them unfriendly but efficient. The receptionist seems to hate her job and the vet was cold and uncaring. For a one time visit it was fine. I would never go there on a regular basis. No personal contact with the dog. read more

I have been to this vet hospital and it is led by senior veterinarian with highly developed skills in diagnosis and surgery unlike many of the other Banfields. The hospital seems well run and is open 7 days a week for "normal" animals as well as many exotic types. The fees are lower than many of the other surrounding Gresham vet offices but the credentials of the lead doctor are beyond anything any other Gresham vet office has to offer. You want the best for your family pets and we got it here through Dr. Caldwell and her staff. Difficult diagnoses and unusual efforts to ensure your pets life exist here because of the level of care Dr. Caldwell gives and what she expects of her fellow Doctors and vet nurses. read more

Edit: Update: my puppy is now suffering from a UTI. She started experiencing bloody urine about 52 hours after her spay was finished. Normally there should be no blood after 24 hours. I called their corporate offices to discuss all of my issues with this location and the fact that I'm now stuck going to Banfield because of the wellness plan. All they did was say they would report to the field site and the corporate office. They also "urged" me to take my dog in to another of their locations instead of leaving it untreated, as if I'm going to let my dog continue having an at the time unknown complication due to her surgery. I was stuck because financially I can't afford to pay for her "un"-wellness plan from Banfield and take her somewhere else so I was forced to go into a different location where I had to pay about $50 for a urinalysis and the doctor there, after being there close to 2 hours and discussing my financial concerns, tried to prescribe me a $54 prescription instead of one I could get from Walmart for $4! Banfield is terrible and all they want is your money. They do not care about your pet and don't let them con you into thinking that they do. I will be pursuing this through any channel necessary and will be getting a second/third opinion from a trusted, AAHA accredited veterinarian. read more

BEWARE!!!!! This place has gone WAY DOWNHILL!!!! Customer service is awful prices have gone so far up here as to make it one of the most expensive around while the level of care has dropped to almost non-existent levels. The vets all seem to be fresh out of school and turn over rate is super high. If you get the same vet twice in a row you should be amazed. Inexperience mixed with high prices is a weird combo. When our dog needed surgery we were told there is only one surgeon that handles four locations. Then the vet casually remarked "the surgeon is not board certified because they took their schooling in another country and did not want to redo the schooling" After two weeks of being yanked around we found a board certified surgeon that would do the surgery for $500 less. I made a huge mistake sticking with them as long as I did and my dog very much suffered for it. After 13 years I will NEVER be back. If you love your pet go elsewhere! read more
