I am writing to express my frustration and concern regarding the inadequate treatment my puppy received at your hospital. We recently brought him in for roundworms, and he was only administered a single dose of dewormer during the visit. To my shock, no additional medication was provided for at-home care, leaving us with no clear plan to address his ongoing condition. Over the next several days, my puppy continued to experience persistent diarrhea. I made numerous phone calls to your team, seeking guidance and an explanation. Despite my concerns, the only response I received was to administer antidiarrheal medication, which did not address the underlying issue. It was incredibly disheartening to see my puppy's health worsen despite my repeated efforts to seek proper care. When I called again, the vet tech asked what medication my puppy had been sent home with--a clear indication that there was a miscommunication, as no medication was provided. In search of answers, I took my puppy to another veterinary clinic where he was immediately re-treated for roundworms. Upon reviewing his case, multiple veterinarians agreed that the dosage of dewormer he received at Banfield was inadequate to properly treat the condition. I called from the parking lot and they transferred me to the practice manager, who got my cat registered over the phone and then came out to pick her up from my car. When they finished, they called, I paid over the phone and the manager came back with my cat and put her back in the front seat. Thank you so much for being a wonderful clinic! I've never had an issue with Banfield until I took my dogs to this location. I've had a plan with Banfield for over 4 years in San Antonio. I had to move and this location was closest to me. It is about a 45 minute drive to get to Banfield and they INSIST on making me drop my pets off instead of letting me have in-clinic visits. I finally put my foot down and told them I needed to be seen in-clinic. That's what I pay for! Today, one of my dogs needed his comprehensive exam which he receives every 6 months. Again, I wanted an in-clinic visit. At the Banfield I used to go to, they would give him his vaccines and draw blood/fecal matter in front of me. Today, they took my dog to the back room and did all of those things out of my view. Well, they returned my dog to me after all of the lab work was done and told me that 1) my dog had scraped his elbow on something and it was bleeding, 2) my dog needs to handle better on restraints and that he needs to be sedated next visit, 3) I needed to supply a fecal sample myself because my dog "tried to bite" the vet & 4) that in-clinic visits are not always going to be available to me. First of all, I know my dog can get rowdy and excited. That's why I opt for in-clinic visits so that I can calm him down. It doesn't help that they took him to the back with all of the other dogs, which made him get excited. Secondly, my dog scraped his elbow. Fine. BUT COULD IT HURT TO PUT SOME GUAZE AND COBAN AROUND IT?! They just let him bleed all over the exam room floor. Third, I pay to have my accommodations met. You will supply me with in-clinic visits and you will not sedate my dog. That's not an option. And why was it that I, an untrained animal handler, was able to calm my dog down enough so you could get the fecal sample? They must have been hurting him when they tried to get it in the back room because my dog has never attempted to bite anyone in his 5 years. The employees at this location don't care about your pets. They make you feel as though you aren't a good pet owner. They think they're too good to get on their hands and knees in the exam room and supply care in front of you. Which makes you wonder what they might be doing to your pets when you're not around. I loved the Banfield in Texas. I loved having a team who embraced my pets and accepted them the way are. If you work as a vet or in an animal hospital, you would think that those employees care about pets and understand that not all of them are as well trained as others. You just have to work with it. This Banfield location has turned me off from ever visiting another Banfield again. Take what you want from this review. Maybe they'll be kinder to you and your pets. Or maybe they wont and you can share the same frustration that I am feeling at this moment. read more

Took our cat here for a checkup. Get a call about an hour or so later telling me to pick her up. Said she is to wild for the to do anything and they will call in a prescription for her so we can make another appointment. After we make the next appointment we just have to "drug" her before we bring her in. I went to pick her up and the girl at the counter says, "You're not supposed to be here until 2:30pm." I said, "I was called to pick her up". She said she would have to check on that. She then brings her out and says "just make another appointment, give her the drug, then bring her in". I then received a call the next day from a girl here that said " I'm just called to check on how your cat is doing from yesturday" I said, "She fine, why wouldn't she be?, you guys didn't do anything. She acted surprised and said "Oh, ok, thank you" and hung up. Don't these people communicate with each other. Also, we usually take our pets to Miller Animal Hospital, but because of the "pandemic" backlog it would have been a month to get here in. Anyway the people there love it when we bring her in. We took our cat in to this clinic as she was sick with discharge coming from her eye and she was sneezing. We were charged $511 some odd dollars for a whole slew of tests. Turns out this cat has hyperthyroidism and the paperwork mentioned everything else was normal and her eyes clear. The medicines they gave had nothing to do with any active infection but only mention dietary changes to an expensive prescription only cat food. We call them back and leave a message. No response. We call back and they say "oh, we didnt check that". But they can see her again on 9/28 for another $ 60 dollars. Whatever you all do with your pets....take them anywhere else than here. read more

I brought my dying puppy in with no ideas of what was wrong. I had just gotten him from someone who lied about all of his history. He wasn't eating, lost a ton of weight, and was really sick. Banfield saved him! It was costly and they were able to help us get the cost down to something more affordable so that my Rhett could get the care he needed. We took him back double the weight and a whole new puppy. They were all just as excited to see him doing so well as I am. Eternally greatful for Banfield and their staff. I don't like to leave reviews, however I think it is important to consider when it comes to pet health. I took my sick kitten here because he had a loss of appetite and was lethargic. I dropped him off in the morning and wasn't able to pick him up until near closing. They told me they thought he had an infection and prescribed antibiotics but when I went to get him his fever had spiked to 106. My question is why had my kitten been locked up all day with no one monitoring his temperature if he came in with a high fever (maybe 103) to begin with? Since they were closing there was nothing they could do and I had to take him to an emergency vet where I dropped $3000 (not including the $700 from Banfield) for my kitten to die 3 days later. Never even got to use the wellness plan I had to buy. Moral of the story don't use corporate vets because they are out for your money, not here to help your pets. I want to note that the receptionist staff were very kind, however it was still disappointing to find that my extremely sick kitten had sat in a cage all day getting no further treatment when he needed much more extensive care than they could apparently provide. read more

This pet hospital has some of the worst communication I have ever experienced in my life. Every single person I have spoke to has told me different things about my sick cat. It has been over a month and over $800 in bills without any answers. Never waste your time at this poor excuse of a vet clinic. Might as well figure out what's wrong with your animal yourself or go literally anywhere else. Nothing will be solved and they will be passive aggressive towards you anyways. Not a great experience but the doctor who saw my pet was very caring , friendly and informative. Called to schedule an appointment but the appointment was only the time to drop off my dog,which was not made clear at that time. Left my pet at 8:30 am and was told I could pick her up after 2:00. Receptionist said all dogs are dropped off in the morning and then they see them in the order of importance/severity. I did not like the idea of leaving my dog (assuming in a crate) all day until they got around to her physical. Might want to rethink the whole appointment process. read more

I hate reviews like the one I am about to write. But when we are talking about animals health and trusting people to take care of them. This "hospital" is located inside of Petsmart in Lansing. We don't know much about it as we were not allowed to walk our small dog in to meet the vet but only to pay for their care. I understand Covid and the need to wait outside but when I watch tons of customers walk in and out the door with their pets why are we waiting outside for a half hour? Then it's the don't call us, we will call you when we are done. Our dog has skin problems and will lick himself raw. We had taken him to another vet locally that was unable to see him soon so we tried this facility. The vet got all his records and decided that instead of what he had been diagnosed with before, he had mange. And treated him for that instead with two pills (one then and one in a month) and told us it would take at least two months to get better. Two months later he is twice as bad. We called the vet and told them what has happened. And we didn't know if it's a good thing to bring him back in as he is worse than ever. They said ok. Good bye. I have never seen such lack of compassion and or care about an animal that was left in the care of a professional. Be warned. And it will cost you at least $150.00 a pop when you go. Even more if you sign up for the $50.00 a month constant care program they are pushing. Find a local vet who has stake in their community. read more

I took my cat in with concerns over his stomach and his frequent vomiting. I dropped him off at 9:30am with a 2:30pm pickup time. At 2:15pm I receive a call from them, while I'm already on my way to pick him up, informing me that they were unable to preform any further tests or examinations after his rabies shot because he wasnt cooperating. I don't know how long a rabies shot takes, or how long the typical visit is, but they held my Cat for 5 hours without calling me or updating me on his status. They wrote him a prescription for "cat Xanax" to give him so he will be drugged up enough to examine next time. Oh, they still tried to get me to sign up for the Banfield Subscription payment plan, to charge me monthly for NOT examining my car. I will never return. Found a cat hospital that is able to examine my cat without any problems or need for a prescription to examine him. read more

This Banfield location had us give 2 tranquilizer pills (one last night and one this morning), to my mother's 18 month old Puggle, prior to us being able to bring him in to have his nails groomed. Something I felt reluctant about from the start and now I definitely regret that we did. Once checked in, Mickey was taken into the back for what seemed like 10-15 minutes, then returned to us in a most disturbing and highly unprofessional manner. As we greeted the Banfield Rep that brought him out to us, I was taken aback by the way she greeted us by asking if we had checked out yet, almost sounding as if we would be expected to walk out without paying. But the insult was even worse than expected. It turns out that Mickey had given the folks in the back room a struggle, or so they said and supposedly it took 3 people to hold him down while weighing just under 30 pounds and drugged. Therefore, they proceeded to charge us $30+ for the service, which was almost double the cost of what we have usually been charged. When my Mother mentioned to me in front of the receptionist that she was going to change service providers for Mickey, the receptionist seemed to take pleasure in chiming in that if my Mother decided to do so, just let her know and she would be happy to forward his records. The main thing that I find unconscionable about all of this is; 1) They charged my mother $11 for supposedly tranquilizers and if they weren't working well enough when we arrived, why didn't they say so upfront? 2) If they were struggling with him, why didn't they tell us before proceeding that he was too much for them to handle and that it would cost nearly double for them to groom him, particularly when my mother was sitting not more than a few feet from the doors they took him through? To add the icing on the cake, they were still chatting about my mother's reaction when I went back to ask for information on the management of the place. I'm sure there was a sense of pride in treating us the way they had. We may even be one less customer that they don't mind not having to deal with anymore. Rest assured, I won't mind sharing this incident with as many people as I can as well. Lastly, in addition to recommending that the entire Banfield staff at that location go back to school for some common sense, they might try putting down the fork and doing more push-ups so they don't have to traumatize anyone elses pet the way they did ours. I have had a contract with this company for wellness plan on my cats, for about 2 year. Every time that I've had my cats there I voiced my concerns about the weight of 1 of my cats. Every time they would tell me that she's healthy or just a small cat. After realizing that she's lost almost 2 pounds in 2 years on a cat that started weighing 7.5lbs, I took her too a different vet, I find out that she has a thyroid problem. I have also had a problem with another cat that I had a wellness plan on where I signed him up with a plan that included teeth cleaning. On the first visit I was told that he had a heart murmur, ok I would look into taking him to a specialist. 6 months later Banfields calls me to set up appointments for my cats check up and teeth cleaning. I was never told that Banfields wasn't able to clean the teeth of my cat that has the heart murmur, when i set the appointment, even though this cat had dental surgery approximately a year before. So after dropping my cats off I recivied a call from them that they were not able to do the cleaning. When I went to pick up my cats they wanted to charge me extra money because they couldn't do the cleaning. I called them today to cancel my wellness plan contract for my 3 cat because I do not trust their ability to properly car for my cats, and they want to charge me money to cancel my plans. I do not recommend them for proper care of my cats. They run like an assembly line. You drop your animals off and are call many hours later to pick them up and no real information is given to how their health is. If you in any way care about the health of your pets. Don't take them here or sign up for the wellness plans. read more

Dr. Bennett and her team are amazing. We have been going to Banfield for about 6 years now and have been seeing Dr. Bennett for over a year and would not look anywhere else. We recently lost our 14yr old chihuahua, Dr. Bennett and her team made that experience as least painful as possible. They also all signed a card and had her paw print stamped in a sympathy card they mailed to us. They go above and beyond. Our 3 other dogs ranging from 1-14yrs old all see Dr. Bennett and she is so personable and truly wants what is best for our pets. They now know our pets by name. I recently bought to adorable multipoos,, I was happy to see that they had health insurance for dogs. I liked the fact they had grooming in the same building (Petco). From my first visit on we have had nothing but problems with our adorable babies. Being told they needed their nails trimmed and a sani-groom which is around their private areas at 9 weeks old. Also I got some attitude from the very young vet and her assistant about buying a designer dog!!, and how they believe in rescue dogs LOL well I felt that was none of their business, I'm 58 years old and know what kind of dog I wanted, also I bought two and got grief from that as well!! On the first visit we bought both of them health insurance through Banfeilds for them, not knowing how horrible they treat pets, and how the knowledge of puppies is so not good. When I dropped of my dogs to be groomed in Petco, they were only 10 weeks old as requested by Banfeilds, while grooming my female dog I heard her yelp, about five minutes later I was called to come to the grooming room, where I was told my dog had blood in her stool, she had pooped on the table, the blood looked very light pink-red so very fresh blood, they made me find something to put the stool in for the vets, Banfeild which I did, the groomer seemed nervous but swore she didn't cut her, but she also used clippers on her. So now I take my sweet little girl to her vet appointment within 3 minutes she is being examined, I am told to come back in four hours to get her, so I went home to look at her morning stool still in my backyard, there was NO blood, I'm about in tears thinking my puppy is really sick, but isn't thank God. So I go get my dogs four hours later and was told their not sure where the blood came from their looked at her and didn't see anything wrong, four weeks pass and they need the second set of shots, I show up at 8am drop off my dogs and am told I cannot get them back until 4:15 that day!!!!! That is 8 1/2 hours, thank god I brought food since these dog are prone to low blood sugar. Then I show up to get my dogs and my male puppy is yelping in pain pretty bad, I am told by the vet that he is sore from his shots, but it was worse than that we could barely touch him for two days , and also when they put him on the ground he urinated tons.....it was everywhere there was not doubt they never took him out to go potty, the food bag they gave me back was full, so they didn't get feed. So here is the scenario, they take in 25-40 dogs a day and kennel them and make the owners wait all day to get them back, they give bad advice like to have my puppies groomed, ear hair pulled and sani-groom from Petco Groomers, which now that I have a REAL groomer not some corporate company trying to help their quarterly profits increase, I was told you do not groom a puppy before their 4 months old, or use clippers and certainly don't pull their ear hair it is just too painful at that age for them and too traumatic, so now we are dealing with a puppy who has serious issues with her ears and being brushed, she is not old enough to be groomed again but know the new ones will help her to overcome her fears....this place sucks and so does Petco in general!!!
