I've been bringing my dog to this hospital for four years, thinking he was getting great care until now. What happened during his recent dental cleaning was beyond unacceptable. Dr. Valencia called me mid-procedure, saying my dog had lost four teeth during the cleaning and that another needed to be pulled due to the risk of infection, which could spread to his eyes or heart. She made it sound like if I didn't approve, my dog's life would be at risk. Panicked, I agreed. Immediately after, I called my vet friend in another state, who advised me not to approve the extraction. When I called the hospital back just five minutes later, they had already pulled the tooth and somehow, yet another one had "come out" as well. That brought the total to six teeth lost in one day. I brush my dog's teeth daily, so it's hard to believe they just "fell out." And after all that, they still expected me to pay $588. This experience was beyond disappointing it was devastating. I trusted this place for years, but now I regret ever coming here. He is only 4 years old and this has been a nightmare. i absolutely do not recommend going to this place ever again. read more

We had to put on of our dogs down here and they were so sympathetic and helpful beyond ways I could imagine. Unfortunately another one of our dogs passed away (not here, but at an emergency vet) and their team sent us a card giving their condolences. I cried. My dogs name was Taco and the fact that they hand-drew the taco on the card truly made my day. I can not express how grateful my family and I are for such an amazing staff at this location. I would like to shoutout the front desk staff as well since they can be busy and yet very helpful. I would also like to shoutout Jeremy specifically because one time, my dog Taco was so nervous that he peed on him and Jeremy handled it so gracefully and was not upset at all. We cannot cancel any wellness plans even after a pet dying and have to finish paying off the rest of the year and keep in mind if you don't call right before your wellness plan renewed you are not able to cancel either. They're lucky we will continue going there because we love our vet but beware do not buy their wellness plan. It's a scam. We also called and got a no , and got a call back and a douche bag asshole didn't even say I'm sorry for your loss, it was more off a "too bad your dog died- you owe us money". EFF THAT . Went in for a general follow up check up. First check up he had no issues so we assumed the second would be easy. We were told it'd take hour or two. Called them 3 times within the span of 6 HOURS. I understand a few issues coming up and employee shortages however the workers should be able to give more accurate predications to prepare their customers' expectations. My baby girl, Sophie, has been going to Banfield for over a year now and we are more than pleased with the care we receive. A bit about Sophie: she's a 7 year old purebred Dalmatian who I have had since she was 3 months old. She has (slightly high) general anxiety and is timid with strangers. I was referred to Banfield Northridge by my cousin and decided to give them a chance. I am a bit of a helicopter dog mom and am very picky when it comes to anything for her. This is the one vet office I feel comfortable dropping her off at for a few hours. We mainly ask for Dr. Valencia, as she is very sweet and informative. I have never felt obligated or pressured to do any extra tests that she doesnt deem necessary. We have the OWP, which some people are iffy about and would just say "just put aside extra money for expenses" but I like the option of not having to pay for vet visits itself. Yearly dental cleaning is also included in the OWP which is a huge bonus as our old vet was charging us even more than what we pay in OWP. 10/10 for Dr. Valencia and her staff read more

I usually come here to drop off my sister's dog for his monthly shot whenever she is not in town. My visit is usually pleasant thanks to Jeremy. He knows the dogs history and they love him. Well when I returned to pick up Squeakers my sisters dog the lady who was helping me at first seemed really kind but when I tried to give her my sisters care credit info and she couldn't find it she started talking to me like she was scolding a child. I then went to my car to try and get a hold of my sister for the info. The lady then calls me and said she found it (thanks to jeremy) and was so rude and asked loudly "so you're using care credit right" which was a dumb question because that is the main reason I went to my car and she was the one ringing me up so she already knew the answer. She was loud asking me this in front of a customer and it felt intentional like she was trying to embarrass me and after I replied "yes i am using care credit and you know this" she then tried to go back and forth with me but i asked for Jeremy and asked her repeatedly to stop talking back to me like I am child. I am highly upset! I am just trying to make sure my sister's dogs are taken care of while she is away and the last thing i needed in this moment was to be talked to like that. Jeremy walked me out and once I got to my car I cried. That lady was rude and she needs to work on her customer service. When I called back to get her name the other girl at the front desk acted like she didn't want to tell me. Eventually she said her name is Ashley. Absolutely ridiculous. They didn't even have the decency to send their condolences just a bill for next month's dues. I have had dogs for over 20 years and I have never experienced such negligence from a Veterinary hospital. When I first new that something was wrong I immediately took her in to get evaluated and got sent home. Then a second and a third because I knew that something was going on. After an onslaught of tests and no answers rather than get referred out to a specialist which is what should have happened I was sent home a third time not before they injected my very sick puppy with god knows what. My dog got a cut on her paw which kept bleeding so we brought her into Banfield. The gentlemen at front desk said it will be $61 to "dress" the wound so we agreed. Doctor came out and explained the treatment plan for close to $400 which we stated, we don't need antibiotics or sutra we just want the wound dressed. I guess there was some sort of miscommunication but they handed our dog back with her paw still bleeding all over their waiting room Very very frustrated.... They don't care about the dogs. I took my puppy here a few months ago but decided to leave a review now based on my experience with another vet being absolutely outstanding compared to this place. My puppy Mai got her first set of vaccines here. The vet assistant told us (after she got the shots) the side effects that could arise. They also told us that should she experience excess vomiting - to bring her back immediately. Not even an hour after she received her shots, she started throwing up. We called the vet and let them know and they said because they were closing in 30 minutes to take her to an emergency vet...if you care about animals why wouldn't you let us bring her back? You know...we immediately decided we would never bring her back here due to lack of care. after calling a few other vets who told us that since the vomiting wasn't too bad - a trip to the ER wasn't necessary. We monitored her and she ended up being okay! We then took Mai to VETCO to get her second set of vaccines. They pretty much told us the same thing in terms of side effects. Sure enough Mai had another allergic reaction and we called VETCO immediately. Not only did they help us find an emergency vet, they told us they would meet us there AND cover all the expenses. They went above and beyond for our baby. They called us to check in every few hours and they sounded as if they were very concerned for her well-being. THIS is what we expect from a vet. I wish I had never done that. Whatever this terrible place injected her with caused her to vomit uncontrollably, she fell limp, and slowly deteriorated throughout the day. She wouldn't eat, she wouldn't drink. She appeared to be at the brink of death. My puppy...who just one day prior was just fine. I took her back the next day to ask WTF they did, and they gave me some BS reasons "her blood sugar level was low" "she is cold" ....they told me she had underlying issues. These things DID NOT exist before I took her here. On top of this new mysterious condition that my puppy has they freaking charged me a NEW office boat fee and refused to take it off. I spoke with a gentleman on the phone last week, he said they were changing locations over the weekend, so he made a phone appointment for today 12-19-19. I showed up at 7:30am this morning as that was my drop off time. I had initial visit coupon on my phone....and care credit pre approved, since I was a new patient to this company. Front office brand new....opened a few days ago, clean. Not one other patient in the front office. A very young girl wearing black scrubs greeted me. I didn't even bother to get her name. Slim build short straight hair. I gave her my name, she saw that I had an appointment... FIRST words out of her mouth. "That will be $57 (or whatever the amount was)....".. I told her I had a coupon. "Can I see the coupon?" I showed her the coupon... "OK" she says... then she asked for my address, phone, etc. which she entered into the computer. SECOND question was, "Would you like to sign up for one of our monthly fee care plans?" Next question was "why are you here today? Do you have anything in particular you would like the vet to look at?" Even though I explained to the previous gentleman I had spoken with by phone a week earlier when I made the appointment....I proceeded.... "Yes"...I have a 14 year old spayed female chihuahua mix that is presenting with symptoms of congestive heart failure.....and additionally, she'll need a basic dental evaluation..... certainly a basic cleaning, and possible extractions. Now, she says...."you just drop her off and we'll call you when she's ready to be picked up. "Is there a vet tech or vet that I can speak with?" No...we only have one vet , and the other vet called in sick today..... Is there ANYONE else in the office besides you and one vet? No, and she's doing surgeries so since you're scheduled for drop off only, that's your option, otherwise you'll need to go to the website and make another appointment for an "in room". Are YOU a vet tech? Do you have any veterinary experience? No, I just check in your pet (and sell the monthly care plans)..... she went in the back 3 or 4 times between my several basic health related questions....the FINAL time she went back there....I collected my dog and WALKED OUT THE DOOR! As I was getting in the car I was right outside their window so the girl saw me leaving. NO call, nothing....she didn't even look surprised that I walked out. I'm sure I'm not the first person who's had this experience. This is my DOG....not my DRY CLEANING! I will likely not ever return to ANY Banfield location. 03-17-20. I drive by often....have never seen anyone in their lobby. Parking lot is always full. EXCEPT for their 2 spaces in front of their door.....I'll park there next time. read more

I'm so fed up with this place. I decided not to continue with them as my primary vet a couple of years ago after the doctor removed a mass from my dog's neck and stitched it up so poorly that there is a permanent ridge there. (When my pet nutritionist saw it he immediately identified the problem as the use of an antiquated method that has been out of favor for 30 years.) I still take her there to get her nails trimmed, but even that has become a total hassle. I called twice on two different days with no answer. I left messages both days and never heard back. When I called a third time, the person who answered asked if they could put me on hold and never came back. (Or at least not for 26 minutes; I gave up after that.) When I finally did get someone I made an appointment, but when I showed up it was not in the system and they would not work my dog in for a three-minute procedure. Rescheduled again and crossing my fingers. Not only that, but every time I go here they ask me if I want to renew my dog's annual "wellness program." Why would I bring my dog to you for health care when you can't even get your shit together for a nail appointment? read more

Where do I begin. This is not specifically for this location, but Banfield on a whole. I feel scammed and taken advantage of by this Company. I've been using Banfield for over a year and questioned them a few times on some services but no real red flags. A week ago, my dog passed away unexpectedly after having some testing done in March ( which they said she was fine ). Yesterday we call Banfield to have our deceased dog removed from the plan and they tell us we still have to pay the monthly fee plus they tell us we have an outstanding balance from all of her services she's had done. The money that we paid at the time of service is only a portion of your actual balance. I'm disgusted in this Company and disappointed in myself for not reading the "FINE" print ( as the supervisor told me over the phone ). They also want to always add on other services and have added on services that we didn't ask for. Found that out when we asked about her last visit in March. They also had cleaned her teeth in Feb. and during the cleaning, called us to tell us she had an infected tooth that " needed " to come out. We asked that they save the tooth and show us afterwards. She then said, "well, we don't have to remove it, and maybe just give her antibiotics for the infection instead ". I hope all of you who have Banfield have done your research. I love how they're inside a PetSmart. It's a one stop shop for her. She can go to the doctor and get groomed at the same place on the same day. I got her insurance through them as well. I called your 1800 number to schedule my free exam and the person who booked my appointment did not mention I needed to have a form filled out prior to the appointment for the free exam, therefore when I arrived the front desk girl gave me an attitude about not having it and how they "do not just give out free exams". So I explained to her the operator who booked my appointment didn't tell me to have the coupon ready otherwise I would have done so. So the girl said she needed to talk to the dr. She came back and said they will honor it but I needed to fill out the form. So when I was on your website I couldn't find the coupon section and asked her where it was, instead of helping me she said "just google banfield coupon exam it's simple" followed by "if you still can't find it and truly need help someone can help you" with a tone as if I'm dumb. Suffice to say I ended up googling it and came to find how easy it was to fill out the form and get the coupon, so I don't know why the front desk girl was so rude!! PLEASE FIRE HER!!!! You would get better business. She has an attitude of entitlement and as the first person you meet and is the first impression, she is terrible. There was another girl sitting at the other computer and she didn't even try to help either. Just sat there quiet. Rude girl has glasses with light brown hair and useless other receptionist has dark brown hair in a bun. For this reason I wouldn't come back, which sucks because the dr and vet tech were very nice and answered all my questions. Also, at the end of my appointment I asked if rude girl can give me my client ID which you need to order your pets meds online. So when she printed out my receipt she was like "the ID is on there" and didn't even say thank you or have a nice day, etc. I was the one saying thank you to a rude ass receptionist. I highly recommend this location! The staff is so kind and professional. This vet is so organized and they keep up with your pets health. I have the health plan for my two French Mastiffs through them, and I love it. They get dental and preventative care at a reasonable cost. My first time here and I already had a bad experience. Upon checking in, I told the man that I had a free office visit coupon. He said he would take care of me, not true. I was in a rush to check out because I had a ride waiting for me outside and I just paid the bill. When I got home, I was charged for the office visit. I called the next day and spoke with Robert and he said he would call me back but I had to call him instead because there was no call back. Now, I have to go all the way back up to Banfield to get a refund on the office visit. I don't have a car and I was diagnosed with a back condition, so I would have to catch the bus up there to get a refund. I am not happy. The guy checking me in should have told them I had a coupon. From Hazel's first visit with Dr. Del Pino, I could tell that the staff really care. They are all so friendly, professional, and knowledgeable and greet your pet by name. The individualized attention is great and it sometimes it feels as though Hazel is their only patient - they are that amazing! I've been taking Hazel to Banfield since May and my only regret was that I didn't take her there sooner. Her coat is back to being full, soft, and shiny. She's got the energy of a puppy again and she's slowly but surely shedding the weight. She recently got her dental cleaning done by Dr. Song and her teeth look great, healthy and strong. She was very thorough and kept me updated every step of the way. I cannot say enough good things about Banfield Northridge. We ahowed up early and ready and when the receptionist looked on the computer she had no appointment but I had a confirmation email. Both times they've offered to do a drop off instead. I have had multiple encounters with rude receptionist and it is usually during their opening hours. I just called to inquire for an emergency walk in for my old pup. He didn't ask for my pet's name or if our pet was a patient there. Just a huge sigh like I was bothering him in his busy morning. He turned us away, just stating they absolutely were too busy. One thing I hate is to get ripped off and this place will place additional charges above the already steep prices of their pet insurance! I came in today to have my puppy neutered because it was implied that the neutering would be part of the insurance program I signed up for. No, this not the case! They charged me additional for the pain medication and for the collar! OK I need that so that's fine! What, am I supposed to leave my puppy in pain and allow him to chew off his stitches?! OK so 4 hours later, after my 7am drop off, they call me to tell me they're now getting started and that they found an ingrown tooth that they suggest must be removed. How much ADDITIONAL will this cost? 90.00. Seriously? No way! My serious suggestion now that I'm properly informed is that you SHOULD compare the prices because the overall prices Banfield provides is on the highest OVERPRICED scale there is! My sister in law went to a private hospital where they provided a free neutering voucher and discounted pet immunizations. For her puppy they removed two ingrown puppy teeth as a courtesy for the Puppy's well being!!! They over charge period. Go to a different hospital where they don't provide care based on money but based on their compassion and LOVE for ANIMALS!!! read more

I will continue to go to this place because I have paid for the annual banfield wellness plan. This vet isn't so bad, but the wellness plan they advertise is a gimmick. If you are looking for something along those lines, don't cut corners looking for bare minimum standards. Go to NationWide and get VPI for your furkid. Also, if you can avoid E. Britz (doctor) do so. She tends to make a lot of unnecessary remarks to the records that you do not see unless you specifically request "SOAP Notes" with your invoice. These notes are required for insurance claims for compensation. The doctor I love here is S. Castro! She does such a great job at being both straight forward and compassionate. Her SOAP Notes are pertinent to the visit and do not discredit the client (myself). read more
