My baby girl, Sophie, has been going to Banfield for over a year now and we are more than pleased with the care we receive. A bit about Sophie: she's a 7 year old purebred Dalmatian who I have had since she was 3 months old. She has (slightly high) general anxiety and is timid with strangers. I was referred to Banfield Northridge by my cousin and decided to give them a chance. I am a bit of a helicopter dog mom and am very picky when it comes to anything for her. This is the one vet office I feel comfortable dropping her off at for a few hours. We mainly ask for Dr. Valencia, as she is very sweet and informative. I have never felt obligated or pressured to do any extra tests that she doesnt deem necessary. We have the OWP, which some people are iffy about and would just say "just put aside extra money for expenses" but I like the option of not having to pay for vet visits itself. Yearly dental cleaning is also included in the OWP which is a huge bonus as our old vet was charging us even more than what we pay in OWP. 10/10 for Dr. Valencia and her staff

Can you do dental work for dog?

Yes. My 13 yr old Chihuahua just had her teeth cleaned with Dr Del Pino. I highly recommend her. She's very thorough and really cares about her fur-patients and their fur-parents.

Plus it was my Tony's (my little fur boy's) birthday yesterday. So, I am finally posting it. Even though it was a very sad day (of having to let go of our kitty), I have to say that this was an amazing clinic with an amazing staff and an incredibly humane and knowledgeable doctor. I was sooooo lucky to get her at the last moment. We've been referred by a good friend, and we called in and despite their busy schedule, they were kind enough to take us in with the last minute appointment, because our cat was in a very bad condition and our previous vet could not determine much. Jennifer was the one who answered the phone and she's been an angel from the moment we spoke to her on the phone to the moment we left the office. What a kind, compassionate human being! I don't have enough good things to say about the Doctor P who was so intelligent, experienced and did not BS around giving us false hopes or torturing our cat with extra tests/procedures (and pain and suffering along with it) to prolong his life. In a very delicate way, she confirmed what we've been suspecting for a while now and made this decision a little easier to make, even though it's never easy, no matter how ready you think you are. Anyway, the whole staff was really cool, the ones doing paperwork and also a very kind girl who was there during the final injections. In the difficult times like this, it is very important to have this kind of clinics working...

They recognized signs of how our dog is feeling and offered to do their services in the separate treatment room so that our dog wouldn't keep feeling like he must protect us! Afterwards, we were consulted on everything that occurred and were given valuable information on what other steps we could take. I really appreciate Dr Cohen taking her time to discuss with us everything and both sides asked and answered questions. She was very kind and as our first vet to come across, she didn't make us feel worried and eased our stresses. The standard of care here was very amazing and I have no worries coming back here in the future for invaluable pet care.

The last thing you want when your fur baby is suffering is to reach voicemail after voicemail. Hearing a compassionate human voice on the other end of the phone brought me so much comfort. She came to my home first thing the next morning. I was worried about my younger Golden Retriever jumping on her or interfering with her care, but she was absolutely wonderful with both of my dogs. She encouraged him to stay in the room with us once he was comfortable with her, and I truly believe that helped him understand what was happening. She was incredibly professional, but I'll never forget one small moment. Out of the corner of my eye, while I was saying my final words and paying my last tributes to my girl, I saw her quietly wiping tears from her eyes. As a healthcare provider myself, I know how often we're expected to wear a mask and stay composed. Seeing that genuine emotion didn't make her seem less professional, it reassured me that she truly cared. In those final moments, your mind races. You question whether you're making the right decision. Seeing her emotion gave me peace because I knew she wasn't simply going through the motions. I knew that if she believed my girl wasn't ready, she would have told me. Most of us are fortunate enough to experience this kind of heartbreak only a few times in our lives. She carries families through it over and over again. That takes an incredible amount of compassion. Thank you for your kindness, your empathy, and for helping my sweet Lilo leave this world peacefully and with dignity. Please take care of yourself, too. The first photo is the day Oliver met Lilo as a puppy, their first photo together. The second was taken just before the veterinarian arrived to help Lilo pass. I didn't realize until later that I had unknowingly captured both the beginning and the end of their story together I will miss my Lilo for eternity.

I told them I was only about 15 minutes away and was coming straight in. I arrived exactly when I said I would, and the price had suddenly changed. It felt like a classic bait-and-switch. If your pricing changes at a certain time, tell the customer when they're on the phone and saying they are on the way, not after they've already arrived. When I questioned it, the manager was unprofessional and unwilling to honor the price their own staff had quoted me just minutes earlier over the phone. There was no accountability and no attempt to make the situation right. I can easily afford the difference, but that's not the point. I don't appreciate being misled. I told them I was deeply disappointed with how they handled the situation and that I would be leaving an honest review. They didn't seem to care at all. I genuinely feel bad for the owner if this is the level of customer service being provided. The worst part was that my dog was sitting there in pain while we argued over something that should have been simple.I left and went to another veterinary clinic down the street, where my dog was seen within minutes and received excellent care. If a business won't stand behind the price they quote over the phone, it's hard to trust them with anything more important. I imagine their final bill would have been ridiculous. Thankfully, I didn't stay long enough to find out. I won't be returning, and I hope this review saves someone else from wasting their time.

I used to highly recommend this place, but unfortunately something has changed…read more I've been bringing my dog here for years and was always happy with the service. My most recent experience, however, was extremely disappointing. I was about 15 minutes late to my appointment and was told they wanted to cancel it because of the delay. The problem is that when the appointment was scheduled, I was never told that being 15 minutes late could result in cancellation. What makes this even more frustrating is that almost every time I've come here, I've personally had to wait 30-45 minutes past my scheduled appointment time. The bigger issue was the pricing. When I scheduled the appointment two weeks in advance, I was told that because my dog is now 10 years old, a veterinarian examination was required. I was quoted $75 for the exam, plus approximately $60-$70 for the vaccines and anal gland expression. We discussed the pricing over the phone, so I arrived expecting that approximate total. Instead, I was given a bill of approximately $230 for the exam, vaccines, and anal gland expression. In previous years, I had paid around $63 for the same routine services. When I questioned the significant price difference, I was given explanations about increased costs and expenses. I completely understand that prices can increase, but the customer should be informed of the actual price before the appointment, especially when I specifically called two weeks in advance to ask about the cost. What happened next was even more disappointing. I decided to move my dog to another veterinarian and asked for her medical records. Instead of simply helping me with the transfer, I was questioned and accused of potentially altering the records using AI. I was honestly shocked by that accusation. After being a loyal customer for years, this experience completely changed my opinion of the practice. I'm not upset that prices can increase. I'm upset about the lack of transparency, the inconsistent communication, and the way I was treated when I questioned the charges and requested my dog's records. I'm now looking for a new veterinarian where I can feel that transparency, honesty, and trust come before making a sale.

Dr. Linda Jackson went above and beyond to save my cat last week…read more I had brought Roo into the hospital on a Saturday night and my cat is semi feral, so although she's sweet and gentle with me, not so much with anyone else. Roo was extremely dehydrated from throwing up and diarrhea, which had gone on for a few days. She was so weak that it wasn't difficult to get her into the carrier, but I knew examining her, much less giving much needed fluids and an anti vomiting shot would be a challenge, to say the least. No disrespect to the crew on Saturday night, but the doctor on call was young and admitted he had not had experience handling a semi feral cat. We tried explaining the way we had seen her examined in the past (through the top of the carrier with a towel over her head), but he ended up having to anesthetize her because she tried to run away when they were examining her. They administered fluids, clipped her nails, and did bloodwork - which showed she most likely had Pancreatitis. We took her home and hoped for the best. She did not however, improve and it took her over 24 hours to come out of sedation. She was crawling around on her belly crying and I thought for sure she was dying, having not eaten in almost 4 days at that point. I rushed her back to the hospital and hit the jackpot - Dr. Jackson was there. She is the medical director of the hospital, and had been highly recommended to us in the waiting room the first time we were there by other patrons. I was so happy that she would be the doctor examining Roo. Dr. Jackson came into the room I had been waiting in, sat down next to me and her warmth and empathy were extremely appreciated - and needed at that point. She discussed a plan with me: to try and give more fluids and an anti nausea shot. She explained that the shot Roo had previously been given was an anti vomiting shot, but that an anti nausea shot would help Roo get her appetite back and get her on the path of recovery faster. Dr. J said she was going to attempt to get the fluids into Roo without sedation?! She said she thought we could do it with the help of a technician, and with me being in the room to stand in front of Roo, petting her and talking to her to reassure her. With the help of Isaiah, Dr. J got a shot in AND fluids under Roo's skin -- without sedation! It was incredible to witness and be a part of. I've never been allowed in the room with any of my rescues when they are receiving medical attention, this was a first - and it was incredibly moving. Dr. J was so gentle - and she insisted the fluids were warm before giving them - that was also something I had never seen. She explained that receiving cold fluids, especially to an animal already in pain/frightened was jarring, while warm fluids were soothing. Dr. Jackson was so kind and wise and gentle - this is/was the best experience I have ever had with a vet - and I have rescued many dogs and cats over the last 20 years. Dr. Jackson has made this crazy, and mostly cruel world a bit warmer, a bit softer and definitely brighter.

Instead, before they even looked at his paw, the conversation immediately turned to "depending on your finances." That really bothered me. It made me feel like assumptions were being made about me based on my appearance before anyone had even taken the time to properly assess my dog or understand why I was concerned. I understand that veterinary care costs money and that discussing treatment costs is sometimes necessary. What I don't understand is why finances seemed to become the focus before my dog was even examined. I came there because I was worried about him, not to be judged on what someone assumed I could or could not afford. After three visits, I expected more compassion, professionalism, and genuine concern for my dog's wellbeing. Instead, I left feeling dismissed and judged, and most importantly, feeling like my dog's paw was never given the attention it deserved. That is incredibly disappointing from a place you trust with the care of your pet.
