I would strongly recommend avoiding North Valley Veterinary Clinic. I called ahead specifically to ask if they handle dental work for cats with gingivitis and was told yes. I showed up early for my appointment, filled out paperwork, and still waited about 30 minutes past my scheduled time to be seen. During the exam, the vet made it sound like my cat could have something as serious as cancer and pushed for extensive lab work. At no point during that conversation was it clearly stated that he does NOT perform dental procedures. Only after everything did I question it--and was told someone else might handle it, which is the only reason I agreed to move forward. Later, I received a rude call from the front desk and a voicemail from the vet saying everything was fine, my cat just has gingivitis, and I would need to go somewhere else for treatment. So I paid close to $900 just to be told what I already suspected--and that they can't actually help my cat. This experience felt like a complete waste of time and money. The communication was misleading, and the way things were presented caused unnecessary stress. I spent the next day genuinely believing my cat might have cancer because of how it was handled. Now I have to start over at another clinic and pay for another exam. If you're looking for straightforward, honest care--this is not the place. Be prepared for long waits, poor communication, and paying for services that don't actually solve your issue. read more

After going to Dr.Bender for 37 years He has since retired which is a crying shame there are only a couple of people that work there that really care about our Dogs before Dr.Bender Retired it was a GREAT place to take your animals unfortunately Dr.Bender RETIRED the communication went down the toilet and all they care about now is the money my wife and I had recently retired and our Dogs were on very low medication the all of the sudden when we called the office to get our dogs medication refilled the VERY RUDE lady w (Cindy) who acts like she knows what she's talking about when she doesn't have a clue tells my wife that the Dr who we don't know what Dr said it won't refill the prescriptions until we do blood work on both of the Dogs so we ask Cindy we can't do the blood work for a couple of weeks it would cost a $1000.00 for both Dogs plus the medication that would bring the total to $1185.00 so we asked can we get 2 weeks of the medication and then we can do the blood work she said no the Dr.wont do that the bottom line is unless you have all the money ready they will not treat your animals we found a BETTER VET closer to our home very friendly and they gave us the medication we needed for our Dogs (2) weeks later we had blood work done on both of our dogs this new vet is very friendly she spends time with our dogs.LONG STORY SHORT STAY AWAY FROM NORTH VALLEY VETERINARY ALL THEY WANT IS THE MONEY they only spend 2-3 minutes with us and our Dogs read more

Had a great first visit with Dr. Choi. My cat is not the most cooperative with others sometimes, and Dr. Choi and staff were able to handle him well with no attempts to bite or scratch. My kitty has had some sniffles and sneezes for a few weeks, so we ended up getting some antibiotics, and will follow up in 7-10 days if he's not feeling any better for some additional tests. Luckily Dr. Choi reported his breathing appeared to be okay, and he had mild nose discharge. North Valley Vet Clinic also helped with clipping his nails. All-in-all a good experience! read more

had a very disappointing first experience here. When I arrived, the receptionist was on the phone and asked me to give her a minute, which was fine. But once she started helping me, her attitude shifted. I explained I had an appointment for my dog's vaccinations, and since I was a first-time client, she told me a physical exam was required. I agreed, filled out the paperwork, and even provided my dog's previous vaccination records. After reviewing them, she said my dog only needed one vaccine -- which was fine. But the physical exam itself was shocking. For $84, the doctor spent less than two minutes looking over my dog, gave no feedback, and left without saying anything about how it went. I had to ask a technician afterward just to find out if my dog was healthy. From my experience at other vets, they at least take the time to go over the exam results, let you know what to watch for, and answer questions. Here, it felt rushed and impersonal more about charging than caring. They handed me a paper and sent me on my way. For a first-time visit, this was terrible. I do not recommend this place. From the moment we walked in we were professionally helped. Our dog did not feel well and was not eating. She would not even take a treat, which is very abnormal for her. Dr Choi gave her a very professional, in my opinion, check up and recommended an action plan. Communicated with a few different people over the phone and they weren't very helpful. I needed copies of my dog's vaccination records and they don't email. It's 2025, why can't you email records. Well, once my sister picked them up, it makes sense. Their records are not accurately dated or signed. This was an issue for where I needed to take our dog for their neuter. My sister also took our dog to get his rabies and bordetella shot and there was chocolate on our dogs harness after. Are they giving dogs chocolate?! Feeling so compelled to write this.. Took my dog to get neutered and did the normal procedure of getting a pre op for him including getting his blood drawn. A month passed and no contact was made with me whatsoever. I contacted them twice prior and was told to wait for the vet every time. I could have understood they were busy, but when I reached out to them to figure out what was going on, they finally informed me my dog had liver enzyme problems.... 5 weeks and no response. WHY DID YOU NOT LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU FOUND OUT! This could have been a serious problem and yet there was no communication. Once I found out he was ok.. Dr. Choi proceeded to do x-rays (which turned out to be okay) but when I asked him why the communication before was so bad he just said "sorry I have no idea". No reimbursement for my trouble, and absolutely no sympathy. After the x-ray, my dog was prescribed SAMeLQ which promotes liver health.. They Charged me $65 dollars for something I could get online or at Petco for $15 Dollars!! When I asked the front desk about the medication and treatment, they either played really dumb or they truly had no knowledge. IT GETS WORSE... I took a deep breath thinking this was all behind me and this possibly couldn't happen a second time, well.... It`s been 6 weeks now and counting. I decided not to reach out because I was still naive thinking, " They have to reach out this time" NOPE! I DO NOT recommend this place to anyone who loves their pet. My God, if you care about your pet, please steer clear. This place is full of negligent, uneducated and unintelligent vets. I brought in my puppy for the first time 3 days after getting him. I found a black bug/insect, whatever you want to call it on the top of his head. I folded it in a napkin and presented it to Dr. Choi. He proceeded to kill it, and say he's never seen it before and it must've flown on him so not to worry. I also took what looked like an egg, and he also disregarded it and said it is not an egg. Being naive, I trusted him. Few weeks later, I found a couple more smaller versions of the same thing on my puppy. I gave him a couple of showers hoping it'd go away, but lo and behold, it did not. After finding another large one, I decided to take it back in and ask them to show another vet. They showed the bug to Dr. Bender, and he, verbatim, said "In my 20+ years, I have never seen this. Probably just something from outside, nothing to worry about." Sooo, I did my own research... and found that it was canine lice. I took more samples to another vet, and he took it under a microscope, carefully looked at it and confirmed that it is, indeed, dog lice and the eggs were, indeed, eggs - which would explain why I kept finding more lice on him. Long story short, the other vet gave him a lice specific shampoo, medication, and gave me the shampoo as well to continue washing him until it all clears up. I even took the liberty of calling them after I found this out to let them know, and all I was responded with was "Alright." Yikes... stay far away from this place. Apparently the only two damn things they recognize and know are fleas and ticks. read more

My family has been bringing their animals here since I was a little kid. I got a dog a few years ago and even though I don't live near here, I still bring her here to get taken care of. Everyone who works here is very nice and clearly cares about animals. My dog has been seen here for a variety of reasons, including check ups, for her allergies, and when she's sick. I can usually get an appointment the same day if it's something urgent, which is nice. When I first got my dog, she ended up catching pneumonia from doggy day care and North Valley Vet helped take care of her and nurse her back to health. The prices also seem to be reasonable, both for vet visits and medication. I would recommend bringing your animal here if they need to be seen by a vet. I will definitely continue to bring my dog here. read more

My dog got sick, and we scheduled an appointment. The doctor said we needed multiple blood tests for yeast infection. We had a choice between paying our gas bill or saving the dog. We ended up paying 500.00 dollars and later found out that those tests would not show yeast infection!!! When I contacted the owner, he lied about his name and gave a fake license number, and told us to pound sand! The dog is still sick, and we got scammed! I got a second opinion and filled a complaint with the medical board. Investigation has started, and hopefully, they will lose their license! STAY AWAY !!! Horrible experience, New Doctors quacky and fully lied to me, he said after xrays, he'll need to remove only two tiny rear molars numbers 110 & 210 that sit right behind the large molers which he said are rarely used. I agreed to proceed because my dogs 6yrs old and needs her big molars. When i picked up my dog, He said again all went well and he only removed the "two tiny rears"... When i got home i checked my dogs mouth and he had removed all important molars like #208 , 109 & 108. I now have the records and #110 & 210 arent even shown in the extractions but appear gone aswell, This quack could have mixed my dogs records with another dogs who knows. I went to this vet office a few months ago for my dog's skin. She has been very itchy and we wanted to get it checked out to see if there's something we can do. The vet was condescending and rude. He prescribed her medicine and told me to come back in a few weeks... but why go back to a vet who talks down to you. I came out spending 180$ total for the visit and the meds. I am only writing this review because I ended up going to another vet down the street and it was a way better experience than I had here. They gave my dog a shot for her skin and itch and gave us some tips on how to track my dogs eating and habits to see if there's anything she may be allergic to. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS. I gave you all the details of my multiple experiences so I can hopefully save poor animals from going through the same torture we did!!!!! Longest review EVER - not because this is a vet clinic but because this is a BUTCHER ShOP. I have so much to say and I swear I really tried. I had the worlds patience . I so wanted to like this place, convenient and somewhat clean. Seemed like a happy place at first. Took my pup here for shots, everything was well. Then we went in a few months later for a regular vet check up as he had never seen a dr ever since we got him. So we wanted to make sure everything is ok with him and discuss neutering etc. Well at the time, the dr prescribed some calming pills, to help reduce anxiety. My dog doesn't have anxiety. They told us they would call us in a few days to pick up the meds when then came in, and so they did. Except when we went to pick up prescription, there were 3 different meds- we thought it was going to be just one. The girl proceeds to charge us immediately and we are not even sure of instructions, how many, how often, why???? After she charges my card, she realizes she miscalculated and now has to refund me $9, but has no idea how to do it. She calls another girl who also doesn't know how to do it, and they finally call some guy... at this point I'm fuming. More than my refund I want to know why the hell so many pills and why I'm being charged so much when originally I was told that he needs one medication. Or does he even need that??? No one was able to answer me, and apparently the Dr that prescribed the meds doesn't work there anymore... hmmmm what happened in 2 days? Like literally from the day of my puppy's appointment to when we went to pick up the meds, doctor staff changed. And no one is responsible or caring enough to figure out what the heck these 3 bottles of meds are.... So I demanded to talk to the new doctor in charge to get an idea or least have a professional look into my pets file and explain something , anything to me. They give me a bull shit response of well you do t have an apt you can't see the dr. Like no shit.../ I'm not here for the dr, I'm here for meds and apparently no one can explain. To me why I need to feed my dog all these pills. So finally this weird looking dr comes and annoys me even more. He knew nothing, he was not able to figure out anything, he was just dumbfounded that we were prescribed such meds and all he said is that these are pills we give dogs to calm them down before a procedure. So like a sedative??? And I'm supposed to give this to my dog everyday,?? Not just one kind- 3 of them???? TALK ABOUT A SCAM!!!! Prescribing random meds just so you have to pay????? That's not even it... gets better. So of course we come home and I'm not giving my dog any of these pills. About 2 weeks after this incident I notice a big lump on my puppy's neck. At first kinda read, then got pretty dark. Because I'm so patient and like to give all the benefit of the doubt and I believe in second chances, I make an appointment to take my doggy back to this awful place. The dr (another one again) literally looks at it for 2 seconds and says we will be right back we have to take him to the back.... ready for this????? They cut the lump off without any numbing, any meds, no warning, not letting me anything.... I just see some random worker carry out my dog with a cone around his face. Is that legal? Is that ethical??? Do you not discuss the procedure? The plan? I wanted to raise hell and literally strangle them. But instead I paid my dues and stormed out of there: came home and my dog was traumatized for over a week. Wasn't eating, drinking, not even walking. I called back several times because I was so worried and all they said was, if you're that concerned bring him in for more blood work!!!! Are you kidding me.... and here's the cherry on top. I never made a follow up apt because screw them im not going back.... but they took the liberty of scheduling me for a follow up and I got a message the day before the follow up apt to confirm, expect they were calling Beth for Melody's apt. I brought my dog in to get sedated and checked for a lump on her right flank. She's 8 and has a few benign age lumps on her back, but this was the first lump that caused her actual pain. When I picked her up after her sedation appointment, the Doctor informed me that he had found a lump on her left leg, not her right leg, and that she was fine. I double checked and sure enough found the lump on her RIGHT leg. I asked him if I could please show him so he could examine it and he refused. he said she was too difficult to deal with and would bite him. He said his team of workers had difficulty getting her on the gurney and examining her because she kept struggling. He was completely fine having me pay and leave because according to him his work was done. Yes, I have an 8 year old lab/ pit mix who gets scared and snippy when in pain. I scheduled a SEDATION at the clinic for this very reason. I eventually left the clinic and took pictures of her lump myself to go back in and try to show the Dr. I had to tell the receptionist of the whole situation and she (nicely and apologetically) put me in a waiting room to show the Dr the pictures. Once he entered the room, he rudely greets me with "okay, so show me." I showed him, he admitted how big and visible it was, and realized he had to schedule to have it removed and treated to see if it was benign or malignant. ** Could've left with my dog being untreated for potential tumors, should've left with my money back.** The rest of the staff was extremely nice. I have no idea how this place had only 3 stars. I have a very nervous medium-large dog who does not do well at the vet. The vet and veterinary assistant, held my dog gently but firmly the whole time during her examination. The effect put her at ease without the need for sedation. Also the front office staff is amazing. Other vets have made me jump through hoops for the simplest of requests like med refills or copies of my dog's prescriptions so I can order online. This vet is unlike the others .. 20 mins before coming to this one I was at my old vet to get some pain medicine for a pulled muscle on my 12 year old dog. My old vet gave me a $580 estimate for JUST Xrays and bloodwork any medication would be extra.. I walked out. I went to North valley vet clinic and walked into a clean environment.. my dog immediately stopped shaking. We were greeted by friendly staff and taken care of right away. We were seen by the doctor who agreed my dog just needed some pain meds and we left paying $61. He said xrays would not show a sprain so he wanted to try the meds and IF they didn't work we can come back and try some bloodwork. I went home and gave my dog the medicine and within the hour you can tell he felt SO much better. This vet is HONEST when it comes to diagnosing and honest when it comes to price. It speaks volumes that a vet is so honest about a sprain not showing up on xrays when I came from a vet who insisted xrays were necessary in order to give pain meds. It's sickening to know that owners have to put their dogs down because they're being ripped off by dishonest vets. read more

Do not take your pets here! Took my elderly cat for a shave and bath, was told they would only do with anesthesia. Took my cat in, and Todd performed the service, was told he is the only tech the can perform that service there. Picked up my cat in the late afternoon as soon as she was ready. Only thing told to me was not to feed her much because of anesthesia. Later that evening I started noticing wounds all over her body. Two specific areas ( the worst ones) on her chest area and base of her tail. Called the next morning to question what happened and if they had used glue and was told yes becuase of the size of the cuts. Asked why I had not been informed and no answer. I then asked if I should be treating those areas and was prescribed medication that I was being charged for even though they were the ones that caused the wounds. Was told Todd tried his best. No sorry and no kind of compassion. After I questioned why I should have to pay for medication, I was told the best they could do was give me a $10. discount. I picked up and paid for medication becuase I didn't want my cat to get an infection. No doctor available to speak with only the front office lady which could have cared less. They should not offer a service that they clearly don't know how to do. All of this while under anesthesia, Todd clearly doesn't know what he is doing and should have never used my pet to practice. And while I understand things can happen it's the way they handled the situation. Horrible people! They don't care about our pets they just care about money now. read more

I have been taking my pets to north valley for many years. I have worked with Dr. Bender, Dr. Choi, and Dr. Franke. All 3 are compassionate and kind. Dr. Choi has worked with 2 of my dogs who have ongoing medical conditions what were difficult to treat and maintain and he has always put in the time to help find solutions, even if it took many rechecks. Budget wise this clinic has pretty reasonable pricing as far as vet care is concerned. Vaccinations are really affordable, and general visit costs are manageable. They can get busy at times, so it is advantages to schedule in advance whenever possible. They typically can not take walk ins but usually I have been able to schedule appointments within a weeks time. Having backup emergency care is a good idea because not valley does not typically provide emergency services on the spot. They will provide you a list of emergency clinics upon requests. The last thing I would say is that the support staff at north valley is equally kind. Todd has been especially accommodating and helpful in the past. Even my grumpiest pets warmed up to him very quickly. read more

The male receptionist that works there is terrible. He either is just stupid or rude. Our cat suddenly took a turn for the worse and I called to find out about putting him down. The guy didn't even seem to know me or our cat after going there every three weeks for three months. There prices are way higher for that service than others and even though the cat was suffering, he said you need an appointment and didn't have one available for three days! My pet has been at this office ever since I've got her. Dr. Bender is good and his staff is great as well. My dog got a food poisoning and I decided to take her in to get checked out the next day, she was active and had no visible signs of illness. Office has a part-time vet who works there, unfortunately we were being taken care of by her, tall blonde vet. Break down of the bill she brought me suggested that I will have to spend $400 dollars. She included services in the bill that were outrageous and not necessary (and I know it because I have health care education). To which I straight out told her, "my dog has diarrhea and we are here to treat that, it's a food poisoning and I have only $150 in the budget to spend". Break down of the bill was approximately this: $100 for blood test $50 for pancrease test $50 for injection (antiemetics) $50 for office visit $50 for antibiotics to take home $40 for IV fluids extra $ for to take home special RX foods and offered extra $50 antibiotics injection to start off After my refusal, she said she will try to figure it out.. turns out prices of these services were fabricated on the spot. Doctor decided to take my pet into another room for a pancrease test $50 dollars, and when bringing dog back she told me "your dog has blood in her stool" to try to convince me into more of these costly services. It was a complete lie, I had been around my pet the whole night and following day, I inspect her stools and there was no blood before or after the visit. It is unfortunate that vet professionals try to play on emotions of owners who love their pets. Made an appointment, for my mom her new puppy. They misspelled her name and for that reason did not want to help her. Cindy was not friendly and belittled my mom. Just because my mom couldn't communicate well with her limited English: I picked a place in the valley since the hispanic population is high, yet no one in this place tried speaking Spanish and instead ridiculed my mom. When I called and complained they acted very nice and even spoke Spanish, but I got a different service just because I spoke English. I would not recommend this place. The website claims the staff is friendly. But it's far from that. If you hate your job then make a change don't be miserable and make other people life worse. read more
