    Date of service

I am beyond flabbergasted with Brighter Veterinary Center. The lack of accountability, customer service, and transparency is just unbelievable. I took my boyfriend's cat to ultimately receive an antibiotic shot and topical cream at a clinic for a second opinion on Mymy's paw as it has been about 1 month post-op closing up his open wound.. For the past 6 months he has been gnawing at his paw and it turns out that he has basal cell carcinoma in his paw/leg that has also possibly spread to his shoulder area. This was diagnosed with the prior vet clinic and clearly communicated to BVT. I also purchased what was recommended, which was a cat cone to prevent him from licking/biting his paw and eventually lick the plastic cone versus his soft cone which appears to have degraded due to his incessant licking over the past 4 months. The tech or assistant placed the cone on Mymy and asked me if the plastic cone was long enough. I was absolutely floored because one would think a tech who works with animals should know the different lengths of cones and what each length would prevent certain actions. Being the consumer who paid $220 for the visit, the cream, antibiotic shot and the cone, shouldn't be expected to know this information. Up to this 6 month challenge, 4 of the months, soft collars have only been used. I have attached pictures for reference. By the way, this same tech/assistant, a week later, refused to disclose her name when I told her I would be writing a review about the situation. So the issue I'm writing this review about is that Mymy did end up bypassing the cone and gnawed a great amount on his paw. As you can see in the pictures I have included, the date of service was last Friday and by the next morning on Saturday (at 7:57 am), a good portion on the proximal end of his paw pad was gnawed on. Picture has been included. I was so irate bc this was the exact situation that ended up requiring Mymy to have a surgery to close up the area. To make matters worse, the vet clinic refused to ultimately refund the cat cone that wasn't long enough to prevent my cat from gnawing at his paw. The sheer ignorance of the worker who refused to provide her name is unbelievable and ultimately the whole experience is a complete slap to the face to refuse refunding the cat cone after their clear lack of medical knowledge to prevent further damage to Mymy's paw. I believe that the owner or main vet on the premises just took over the practice. He was a traveling vet prior to taking over. That would have been great to have known because then I would have chosen another vet clinic... I felt even more duped bc the reason why I chose this clinic over others was due to it's high ratings. I overheard the information while I waited in the lobby. Which by the way, the staff eventually sent me to Room 4 to be told that they will be refusing to refund the cat cone. Guess they didn't want the others in the lobby to hear the conversation, especially since this could have been completely prevented if the right sized cone was placed on the cat. I will also add that it was my complete surprise that they didn't refund despite being told that I was going to write a review about the situation. The lady who refused to provide her name, unprofessionally raised her voice and stated, "Go write your review" and stormed out. Again this was the lady who mistakenly placed the cone that was too short for the cat. Shame on you... I wonder if the practice is cutting financial corners to the point of hiring workers who are not trained in a legal way. Perhaps assistants do not need prior training... I am not aware of any of the credentials that are needed for an assistant to be working in a medical office. Just unbelievable... if I was that worker and I made that mistake... I would have paid out of my own pocket to make up to a financially struggling couple who is struggling all together, especially after a near $2,000 surgery for Mymy's paw. To make matters worse, my boyfriend had gone to switch out the cat cone for a slightly larger one (10 to 12.5 cm) as I was told that if it was too short to exchange the shorter for a larger one. Because he forgot to bring the cat cone, he purchased a second one, and now we have two cones (the second one we never even used) that they will not refund.. let alone the original one. So frustrating. Never will I go to this clinic...

My dog and I found a new vet care after moving to SFV. The place is large enough to accommodate other furry pals. Space is bright, clean, and doesn't smell like a vet clinic. This is located in a mall, and parking is shared with other businesses. I guess the price for a check-up, blood work is pretty close to what I used to pay for in South Pasadena. Getting an appointment was very easy. You have to call and speak with someone. They do have an IG account, but you do have to call when scheduling an appointment. Staff and Dr. Chang were friendly enough.

I can't say enough great things about Brighter Veterinary Center! My dog, Clifford, unfortunately tore a ligament or two while playing, and needed an extensive TPLO surgery. When I first asked my primary vet if they performed this type of surgery, they let me know they didn't--but they highly recommended Dr. Ock at Brighter Veterinary Center due to his expertise in orthopedic procedures. Initially, I went to another specialist that a relative recommended, but I was completely shocked when they quoted me $9,000-$11,000 for the procedure! I knew it would be pricey, but that was beyond what I expected, even with Pet Insurance I felt that was a bit much. That's when I did some research and reached out to Brighter Veterinary Center. From the start, they were incredibly accommodating--I was able to get an appointment quickly, and after some X-rays and diagnostic maneuvers, they confirmed that Clifford's right CCL was torn and needed surgery. I'm so glad I got a second opinion because not only was the care exceptional, but the pricing was also far more reasonable. Scheduling Clifford's surgery was smooth, and the entire staff--from the front desk team (Cassandra, Louie, and others) to the techs (Jack and more) to Dr. Ock himself--made the process as stress-free as possible. What really sets this place apart is that they also offer rehabilitation services. I've scheduled Clifford for red-light laser therapy, which helps with pain management, inflammation reduction, and wound healing--so I'm hopeful this will speed up his recovery and keep him comfortable. Clifford still has bi-weekly check-ups to ensure the TPLO plates and screws are in place, and every visit has been a positive experience. The team is always welcoming, and Dr. Ock is incredibly transparent and informative, taking the time to explain everything and walk me through Clifford's treatment options. Even though I'm a newer patient here, I can wholeheartedly recommend Brighter Veterinary Center. They are professional, compassionate, and knowledgeable, and they genuinely care about your pets. If you're looking for a vet that provides top-tier care without outrageous pricing, this is the place to go!

This is not my first review of our beloved Dr G, and I just recommended her to 6 more people again just these past 2 weeks. I always say to people I give her card to: "you will discover she is an Earth Angel - if she moved to a different town, I'd take my pup there... When you find a great vet, they are Gold! She's not only compassionate, present and knowledgeable, but also she does not oversell." Besides all the regular check ups, Dr G. has performed 2 substantial surgeries on my pup in the last 8 years, and has been extremely kind, providing valuable reassuring step-by-step updates throughout, especially aware that I had lost my beloved first dog, (with a different vet), when he did not make it through the anesthesia... In the 8 years Dr G. has been our one and only vet; everyone I have sent to Dr G. has fallen in love with her, and has thanked me for the referral. I trusted Dr G and her small compassionate team with the euthanasia of my precious second dog, Handsome. She is truly an Angel on Earth. At her Chatsworth location, I love that she's created a lovingly cozy "home environment" for the euthanasia experience. That it so needed during that deeply emotional time, and more veterinary offices ought to follow her example. I found her many years ago when I was dissatisfied with a busy veterinary front desk in Sherman Oaks, after they had made errors in my first dog's chart. Unfortunately he passed, and I learned that finding the RIGHT professional truly makes ALL the difference. So yes, I drive from Sherman Oaks. Gratefully so :) I am thankful that my cherished pups are her patients. Her ethics, her care, her kindness, her knowledge, her integrity - she's our number 1!!!

Immediately after, I called my vet friend in another state, who advised me not to approve the extraction. When I called the hospital back just five minutes later, they had already pulled the tooth and somehow, yet another one had "come out" as well. That brought the total to six teeth lost in one day. I brush my dog's teeth daily, so it's hard to believe they just "fell out." And after all that, they still expected me to pay $588. This experience was beyond disappointing it was devastating. Dr.Richard Kim was also so amazing and made my cat feel safe as well which was a huge plus because it was her first real serious vet visit. Dr. Kim advised to come back if my cat continued vomiting since it was already day 2 of not being able to hold anything down. unfortunately i had to go back because my cat did not get better (in fact, she got worse) this time around i got stuck with vet assistant Andrea and Dr. Emmanuel Pimentel. my experience with them was honestly 0/10 they made me feel like an idiot for going back when not only was i advised to do so but obviously my cat was getting worse she had a fever this time, still vomiting (this all started because she ate hair ties but threw some up), wasn't using the restroom and when i expressed that concern to Pimentel he said "ok so what's the issue" hello ??? i just explained what was going on she could've had a blockage happening and explained i was told to come back if worsening symptoms i definitely didn't come back to waste money for fun. Andrea seemed like she didn't want to be there and didn't seem knowledgeable and gave half assed answers whenever i asked any questions. my mom was with me and asked Andrea questions as well and while yes maybe they were certain things she couldn't answer, she was just super condescending about it and even asked my mom if she was a doctor (she's not) mind you all my mom asked was if animals get MRIs with or without contrast like the way humans do lol. gross experience with them it honestly made me so upset they had zero compassion and almost made me never want to come back here again. going to make sure i never get helped by them by calling ahead of time to make sure i don't see them. my recent experience yesterday was vet assistant Karen and Dr. Pamintuan THEY RESTORE MY FAITH IN THIS PLACE! both super sweet and knowledgeable. Mind you, I asked him when he came in, what could have caused this? Could it have been the sudden meds? The food? He completely ignored me. We proceed with blood work and then he comes in and says "told you it was pancreatitis" and shows me his results. And I was like "where does it show this like what levels are high? The tech comes in and says "here is the outpatient estimate" and im like huh? And she says, "he said you guys declined".. um we never declined? So then she goes out and gets me an estimate for a hospital stay. I asked the tech if I can request a different doctor because clearly, he was not answering any questions I had and she had said she wasn't sure but could ask. We proceed to approve it and we pay and we leave. As I'm driving home, they call me telling me to go back because they need to sedate him because he doesn't let himself. I drive back, pick him up, and just leave because he is a 20 year old cat, I am not sedating him. It sucks how I had a previous visit with him with my other cat and he actually answered my questions and what not. This time, it was super terrible. If you do go to this clinic, please try avoiding this doctor. I have not had any other visits with different doctors at this clinic but hopefully they are way better than Dr. Kim. I ended up taking my cat to VEG-ER in santa clarita where he was hospitalized. Truly 10/10 experience, if anyone is looking to take their pet during an emergency.

After being put on hold and then hung up on, I finally reached a staff member who was the definition of a heartless robot. While I was in the middle of a life-shattering crisis, this man treated me with a "car dealer" coldness that was frankly disgusting. He actually had the audacity to tell me I "picked a horrible day" to come in because they were "so busy on Saturdays." Let me be very clear: Nobody "picks" the day their beloved pet dies. It is a tragedy, not an "inconvenience" for your weekend schedule. To be talked to like a nuisance during my most vulnerable moment is a shameful failure of basic human decency. The fact that he only attempted to flip a switch and be "kind" once he realized I was a regular patient is even more insulting. Compassion shouldn't be a tiered service based on your database--it should be a requirement for the job. If you work in a veterinary office and can't summon a shred of empathy for a grieving owner, you are in the wrong profession. You do not get to be a rude, inconsiderate robot when people are saying goodbye. I found an amazing, truly compassionate vet elsewhere who handled this difficult time with the grace my dog deserved. I am moving all of my other pets to that practice and will never look back. If you are looking for an ounce of empathy during a crisis, stay far away from this place.

The vet, Dr. Gouldburn, was equally as friendly & attentive, & really took his time with us to understand what was going on, examine our dog, & go over the best course of action with us. No unnecessary bloodwork or x-rays were taken or even suggested. He felt confident enough about his diagnosis & suggested we try the pain meds first. Two days later they called to follow up with me to see how our dog was doing, & see if the medication was helping. A few days later our dog developed an irregular symptom, so I called the office. After explaining the symptom to the receptionist, she had me email them a picture & the vet would follow up with me after reviewing it. They could have totally asked me bring my dog in & pay the exam fee so I really appreciate their honestly with not charging their customers unnecessarily. That evening the vet called me & let me know that after reviewing the picture, it did not look like an urgent situation, & to just monitor my dog & let them know if the issue persists or if any other new symptoms develop.
