We took my cats here 2 days back to back for shots and check ups. They were sweet with my kittens and listened to all my concerns. They seemed to care and listen and offered help without being pushy about things which is always very refreshing. When they were out of one of the medicines we were interested in for our kitten they were very helpful directing us with other options and seemed more concerned about the animals there than making a sale which is how it should be. The wellness plan doesn't cover emergencies or surgeries, and even if your dog dies, you'll still be stuck paying. Read the fine print. On paper, the plan looks good, but in reality it's a trap that does nothing to fix the problem your pet came in for. Banfield will not cancel your plan all they'll do is stop the auto-renewal next year. You're trapped. File complaints with the Better Business Bureau and your state veterinary board. When I brought my dog to the PetSmart/Banfield clinic, the whole visit felt unsettling. My dog, who is normally calm, was aggressive and barking during the appointment. Looking back, I feel like he was sensing something wasn't right. In that moment I was vulnerable and desperate for help, and I was pressured into signing a 12-month wellness plan. At the time it felt like the only way to make sure my dog got treated. Later, I realized the plan doesn't even cover emergency surgeries it's mainly for routine things like vaccines and basic tests. The way this plan is presented in urgent situations feels predatory, especially toward families who are already stressed and just trying to get their pets the care they need. I don't blame the individual staff, but I do feel the system is designed to take advantage of people at their most vulnerable. Banfield in Orange has and always will be a place we felt comfortable and safe to bring our sweet boy Diego. Over the ten years of care, Carrie who runs the clinic has been and always will be one of our favorite friendly faces. She was always welcoming, kind and made sure our dog was taken care of. She listened to concerns we had and made sure they were addressed. Amanda and Suzanne are wonderful staff and they made sure our Diego was taken care of and loved. Dr. Foreman who was our dogs vet in his later years made us feel at ease as he aged and never sugarcoated things. She is confident and we trusted her greatly. While our sweet boy crossed the rainbow bridge, my husband and I are so incredibly thankful for these amazing ladies. Honestly the amount of disrespect I endured here was insane. Constantly forced to sell wellness plans to get a raise and would be considered lazy in doing so. The management here is HORRIBLE. Letting certain staff get away with a lot of things that shouldn't be ignored. Verbally abusing staff and also enduring a lot of mental stress here. I have mixed reviews. My 8 month old Cane Corso brings me here. I have a wellness plan here started by his original owner. Everythings always great till you have a real problem. I took my second dog in for potential fleas and he had fleas, they aquired additional shots and I walked out $175 later and why he had fleas thats all. Then theres my cat he was pooping a peeing everywhere for months. A blood test and a visit $400. I got an insulin prescription its $72 I did some research came back to the vet and asked for Vetsulin to be switched to Lantus. Its more cost efficent and has less side effects for a cat. I was told sure but $79 to see another vet or come back Thursday when you original vet is here but if you dont give him insulin he will die. Thanks for your bedside manner how disappointing that your front staff struggles with this. read more

I have been in there numerous times over this situation.And they told me that he needed surgery, which was very expensive.The most expensive part was the sonogram. I got out a few months brought him in telling them that I have found his testicles halfway up his scrotum.And at now we would not need to do a sonogram to find them, So I dropped him off for examination and they went ahead and told me those were not his testicles and he still would need the full surgery with the sonogram I have a friend who is going to school as a vet and she told me to bring him to a different place and get a second opinion and so I did and found out his testicles were EXACTLY were i said You can't tell me that a vet at Banfield didnt know exactly that were i said his testicles were after i pointed them out I feel they were dishonest so they could charge me for a expensive songram when it wss not needed read more

I previously had cats I brought to this location and had no issues, but since getting a puppy, I brought her for her first visit, as I had quite a few concerns since getting her. Rapid breathing/panting with no exerted energy, not gaining weight, soft stools. The vet called me, and sounded rather annoyed I had taken my dog in. She acted as if nothing was wrong with her. She gave the excuse that it's been "hot" and to get a fan. I run my A/C AND have fans on daily. I KNOW my dogs fur is thick and coarse, I obviously have a fan on her. Dr Nisar ran 3 tests. Said everything came back normal. How is it, that my dog, weighs half of what she should right now, but everything is "normal"? Well, yesterday, in my dogs vomit, I found a roundworm. In. Her. Vomit. HOW ON EARTH did 3 tests NOT detect worms?! Upon doing some research, her breathing, lack of gaining weight, her stools etc, are all signs of WORMS! To say I am BEYOND disgusted with this place and their blatant neglect to have thought "HM maybe this 6 month old puppy has something more going on THAN HEAT"!!!! The level of anger is immeasurable. This is unacceptable. Dr. Nisar, you are LAZY and have NO business being a veterinarian. The excuses on the phone when I called to express these issues, gross. Is it normal for your employees to interrupt a client when they are trying to talk?! The excuses were unreal. "The worms may not have been in the right life cycle for us to catch it" Um... This was a like 2 inch worm, well into its life cycle to have been caught and present on FRIDAY (7/2) when I took her in! No solution has been given. It is excuse after excuse. I try not to doubt people's experiences, but I'm baffled at the negative reviews. Genuinely. To the degree of wondering if they're thinking of the wrong location. I've been going to this Banfield for years and years now, after my previous vet's negligence caused trouble for my little one. Found the Orange location of Banfield which was the first available appointment in my general area, so I gave it a go. And they have been SO good to myself and my dog ever since. Took care of his teeth, and kept him happy and healthy since the very first visit at least 5 years ago, all the way until now. Ever since day 1, I've never had anyone "force" any plans or upsell anything onto me. They've been glad to *promote* certain wellness plans, but I never felt like anyone was being pushy or forceful. By the by, it's worth noting that my income is a struggle, and their plan was a godsend a few times. If I didn't have that plan, things would've cost a lot more. I can pay a little more for my dog's health, because these plans prevent a lot, and IF something happens, it saves a lot of money and stress in that circumstance. Anyhoo! My little guy has always been happy to be in their care. They've always used calm and friendly tones and words, are happy to chat with me, and seem to have a real, genuine care for their clients and pets. I've seen employees change over time (at least one person who's not working there anymore), but I've never once been uncomfortable or skeptical of their team. Nothing against Juda, she's a nice person and all, but Banfield has just done too many things wrong for us to overlook it anymore. This has been our experience: Their policies and charges are appalling. They not only charge an exam fee of $60.00 every time, (even if your pet is just going in for a booster shot after already having had a full exam just 3 weeks prior) but they also add on services you never asked for in the first place (i.e. ear cleaning, nail trims, and other random services). Each of these services cost around $20.00 each. I take FANTASTIC care of my pets and did not give authorization for these additional services. They also charge $22.00 for a SINGLE dose of a topical flea medicine. The booster we brought this kitten in for only costs $30.00. But, the total for getting a booster shot, flea medicine, plus a mandatory exam cost us $104.00. This is the total before adding on the previously mentioned unwanted services. The only way to evade these costs for a general check-up, is to sign up for a wellness plan for EACH pet! It cost us around $60.00/mo. for this plan for just ONE pet. And this does not cover many services. You just have to hope your pet does not get sick or have any other health issues. And even at that, you are still paying around $720.00/yr. for one pet. We had the Wellness plan during all of 2020 and for just one general appointment, if we did not buy the wellness plan for $720.00/yr. that bill would have been $604.76! During another incident, we called at around 3pm, because our cat needed an x-ray for a potential intestinal block. They said they couldn't take her in because it was too close to closing. Closing was at 7pm! And the lady on the phone told us that since they weren't going to take her, we should just go to an emergency pet hospital, "... Because the medical bill would come out to be the same as if we had an x-ray done at Banfield. Approximately $700.00." Are you kidding me? What am I paying Banfield's Wellness plan for, if the cost of an x-ray would be the same if we did or did not get it done at Banfield? Absurd. Additionally, when we brought in an underweight 8 week old kitten in (that we found on the street during a storm) for an appointment at 10am, we waited 6 hours until we finally called and asked what was taking so long. Only then, did they give this poor small kitten her exam. The exam took no more than 15 minutes. We know this because they called us to come pick her up only 15 minutes after we had initially called. They charged us over $115.00 for a 15 minute exam after the kitten was in a cage for 6 hours. If you are not financially prepared to pay top dollar (and then some) for services or don't want to leave your pet (especially a kitten or puppy) without food in a cage for 6+ hours, I would recommend going with a different pet hospital or clinic. My recommendation is to try out one of these other options: Affordable Animal Hospital of Orange, Petco Vaccination Clinic, or Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital. read more

We just took our 13 yr old lab into banfield for a chronic ear infection that had once again gotten out.of control. Bad pet parenting, to be sure, but our.old dog is just showing her age Met with a great staff in general, from the front office staff to the vetrinary assistants, all very sweet and caring. Friendly too. Then came Dr. Hall. Let me explain that I tend to be overchatty, to put it lightly. My wife was with me for part of the visit staring daggers into me for all my questions and talking. Dr Hall was perfect. She was super informed, super informative and genuinely concerned for our poor.old.girl. She has a great way with animal and person . My friend and I are first time cat owners. My cat was having some skin issue while my friend's cat needed a neutering consultation. My sister-in-law--a vet technician--recommended this place. When we showed up for our appointments, we only had one carrier since we had been sharing one for a while. Keep in mind we are both college students and first time cat owners. My friend's cat got lose in the store a couple times so we had to catch him. We know now how jumpy he really is and we're in the process of getting another one. When we went into our separate rooms, the staff continually pushed their wellness plan despite us refusing multiple times. And when I joined my friend for her appointment I was shocked at how badly they were treating her. They had a blatant attitude and did nothing to hide their frustrations. Then they bullied her into buying a harness for her cat that did not fit and told her to either buy a $50 carrier or have a dead cat. Thank God for the kind sales attendant that came up to us and told us about the $10 cardboard alternative. Dr. Alaniz and her staff were completely rude and when asked if we would like her to be our primary we both looked at each other and said hell no. She made my friend feel like a worthless cat mom and both her and her cat were traumatized from the experience. I will never come back here. I understand that my friend's cat needed a carrier but there was no need for the attitude received from Dr. Alaniz. There is a way to inform someone without being rude. tldr; Don't come here unless you plan on signing up for their wellness plan and especially if you're a broke ass college student/first time cat owner. The only reason I came here because I do need a certificate for my dog so he can be able to travel. I took my dog Buffy in today to get checked out for a hot spot on her back and Zaundra was the veterinary assistant that helped us. Dr Singh was the doctor that helped us. Overall the expertise was great but this review is specifically about Zaundra. She helped out a lot with my dog Buffy today. In addition to that, right now we have a sick puppy at home who we are very worried about. She was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, relatable, and informative. She educated us in all of our options whether we stayed with Banfield or went elsewhere. She even gave us a prescription for wet dog food for out puppy because she hasn't been eating. I brought my dog into this hospital after he experienced some dizziness and confusion and ended jumping down the stairs of my apartment, he was bleeding from his lip after hitting the ground with his face. My sister works for another Banfield at a different location and called and let them know I was on my way there with my dog. Upon arrival they asked if he could walk which is very important considering he is a dachshund and he just fell down the stairs. They took him in back to conduct his examination after about 10 minutes the CSC came out and told me "the doctor did an exam and sees nothing physically wrong with him" she proceeded to tell me that I could leave him there for observation or just take him home now. I asked if we could do the blood work that is covered by wellness plan and what the doctor recommended and she replies with "it's up to you if you want to keep here and do the blood work and that the doctor says he appears fine." I pushed for the blood work and asked for him to have some fluids Incase he is dehydrated. So they took him back to the back and began treating him. After while I received a phone call from them and they told me his blood work came back abnormal and he might have beginning stages of kidney failure,so I told them to do whatever they have to do to make sure he is ok, I called back shortly after and they told me he was ok and I could come pick him up at 4:30 so I did and when I got there I asked to speak to the doctor about what was going on and she basically told me his potassium level was low and that's what PROBABLY caused his dizziness and ultimately lead up to him jumping down the stairs and that he was ok and he will be a little sore. The day after his fall, he was not himself at all. I looked at his mouth again and noticed his 2 front teeth were broken. So I called to ask them if they had noticed his teeth were broken and the proceeded to tell me that it was not in the notes and asked me if it had happened today! Which there is no way it had happened today. I personally feel that they were careless when it came to my pet and the fact they didn't even notice his broken teeth proves it. I do not recommend this hospital at all. I have never ever had such a bad experience at a Banfield before and I think that it is absolutely unacceptable that they didn't even look inside his mouth to see if his teeth were ok. read more

this banfield rocks!!! the staff and doctors have always been so wonderful and caring. at the end of a previous visit, a tech even volunteered to help me lift my dog into my car because i usually can't do it by myself. today, i made a special trip out in the rain to pick up my poor dog's pain meds that she really needs. i realized with a jolt at the counter that i left my wallet at home. i had already gone to the wrong banfield the day before, and today's extra trip was a bit of a drive. the receptionist was so kind and patient, and the payment issue was taken care of. even if it hadn't have worked, i still would have written this 5-star review because of how nice she was about it, and how she really tried to help me- a big, heartfelt thank you to this wonderful office! read more

We made an appointment over the phone to get Freya (our 9 month old shih tzu/chihuahua rescue) vaccinated. All of the staff were very friendly and made a real effort to make Freya feel safe and comfortable during her stay. Once she got checked in at the front desk, they weighed her and we took Freya back to the exam room. The vet did a basic checkup for her there and patiently answered all of our questions related to her weight, behavior, and flea management. The vet tech explained all of their wellness plan services, but we opted to just get the vaccinations. I was truly impressed with the staff's kindness and professionalism during the whole process, which took about 20-30 minutes total. They also invited us to bring Freya in for a treat any time at our convenience. That will help train her that the vet is a good experience, and since Banfield is located inside PetSmart, it's super convenient! Would definitely recommend. :) read more

When I realized I needed to take my kitty in to see a vet for a UTI, it was Sunday - the one day all vet offices are closed. I had called all of the Banfield's in my area for an appointment, as they were the only animal hospitals open on Sundays, and found no available appointments (I called around 7 different locations). I was looking at having to take her to an emergency clinic, where just the examination was $73! I knew Krishna needed the exam, a urinalysis, and probably a full blood work up, which costs hundreds upon hundreds of dollars when added to prescriptions and a exam fee. I was finally directed to this office, where they scheduled me for their last appointment of the day. I got the free exam, and when I brought Krishna in, the vet and assistant were sweet and loving toward my girl. They listened to my concerns about her health and were very gentle. My boyfriend and I are making a big move in just a few days, so finances were a concern to us - they worked with us on that, finding a way to get our kitty all of the care she needed while staying within our budget. It took a while to get everything done (probably in part to our trying to find the best options for our situation), but we were never rushed once. Our appointment was for 4, and the whole thing with tests and everything took to about 5:45. The hospital closed at 5 - both the vet and the vet assistant stayed to make sure our baby girl was taken care of. After an hour after getting home, Krishna was purring and happy, curled up on our bed and doing much better! Thank you so much for fitting our kitty in and taking such good care of her. A move is a stressful time for your pet to get sick and you ladies helped make the situation a lot better! read more
