I took my 6 yr old dog here for her dental cleaning. I did appreciate how everyone, including Dr. Starr, was very kind and communicative. Their office is lovely, with unique decor and warmth. However I felt terrible for my dog, because although my appointment was at 10 am, she had to wait 3 hours in a crate until her procedure. We already had her bloodwork done a week before, so I didn't know she would have to wait until past 1 pm. Yeah, I get it -- sometimes there are other urgent clients, so a routine procedure like this can get pushed back. And I understand for most dogs, waiting in a crate for a few hours is no issue. But it is for mine. She does not do well in crates due to severe separation anxiety and excessive barking issues - (Yes, I have tried to train her.) The poor thing must've peed on herself, because she reeked of urine when I picked her up. Overall, I did appreciate how everyone I interacted with here seemed nice, but the experience was not what I was expecting. read more

This was our First Time visiting and will definitely be OUR LAST. My wife scheduled an appointment for our dog at 10:30AM. She arrived early to handle all the paperwork at 10:15AM however ended up waiting until 11AM before ever being seen. During the waiting period, multiple dogs and owners entered and our anxious dog's stress levels were pushed to her limits. All the staff seem extremely young and inexperienced (potentially interns), and the main tech (male) whom wanted to see and prepare our dog was very nervous, which created unnecessary and additional stress for both my wife and dog. Due to being unable to handle our dog, the young man decided to grab a muzzle, however asked my wife to place the muzzle on our dog. Each and every tech that entered the room was nervous, which once again continues to stress all individuals and our dog within the room. The scheduled appointment was for annual vaccines and bloodwork (like any normal Vet), however this trip and experience basically caused more harm than good. Despite having a muzzle on our dog, the Vets mentioned that they couldn't do anything. They claimed that the exam was completed, charged us $60 and when our dog returned she had red eyes and poop smeared all over her. During the checkout process, the vet wanted to provide us medication to sedate our dog and return for bloodwork and vaccines. We have literally never had any issues with other Vet clinics, especially in regards to sedating our dog (unless for difficult procedures or teeth cleaning). This entire ordeal (1.5 hours) was suppose to be a normal simple vaccine & bloodwork, however turned into the WORST Vet clinic visits experienced. If you have an anxious dog, please find a more suitable and experienced clinic. The amount of stress and anxiety created within such a short time frame was unimaginable. An absolute disaster of an operation ran at this location. read more

I've brought both my yorkies twice to get dentals done. If you're looking for low cost this clinic is great. In the long run not so great. One of my dogs received a dental with extractions in February last year and by October he developed a oronasal fistula and his teeth were horrible once again. My other dog had his dental early last year as well and later on developed an abscess by July. At this point I decided to spend the amount needed to get both my dogs the proper care needed at once (dental X-rays). Which I should have done from the beginning. I ended up going to a different clinic altogether that is (NOT conservative). Dental X-rays are extremely important! Just because a tooth is not mobile doesn't mean it's not bad and shouldn't be removed. Only X-rays give you the full picture on what's lying underneath. read more

I Been coming Here for the last few years to get my little Bichon Frise Fjord Ziggy (he was a rescued and that what they told me) teeth clean after my other Bichon died years ago within days of getting his teeth clean. We saw Dr. Moore for a couple years and been seeing Dr. Starr last year or so. Both are knowledgeable, personalable and kind. Everyone in the Clinic have always been wonderful and helpful. It's my second time here. Did not review after the First time. I like to give chance at least two times. But it should be done after the first time. Anyway, all the people here at the clinic are wonderfully and very compassionate to all the people and animals I see coming here. The communication skills on the front desk are impeccable. Don't have to wait long time, I have 4 bunnies. Today I trim only 2 of them - the biggest fighters, Trixy and Bangelina. Mimoy and Mr. Blue are still ok with nail trimming. After my dog's pre-dental exam, she explained everything thoroughly and gave helpful recommendations. She made my day when she said "You're doing great mom" haha I worry sometimes if I'm not doing enough for my pup. The dental cleaning itself was a smooth and easy process, very upfront. We switched over to VOPC after our previous vet became too expensive and began to feel very transactional. VOPC is fantastic and one of the few clinics that does walk-in vaccines without having to book an exam. Even if you need an exam it's relatively cheap. Only reason we are no longer patients is because we are moving far away. My dogs are on medication and they made the move easier on us by writing us prescriptions, that way we can get them refilled elsewhere while we look for another vet after we get settled. I've already done research where we're moving and have not found a clinic like this, at prices like theirs especially. Highly recommend! read more

I had a pretty good experience at first with Dr. Moore. My dog had her back molar chipped and she recommended that I leave it intact until I can see it's bugging her or that it's infected. 2 years past and I feel like that was one of the best advice that I was given because all the other second opinions I received was to remove the molar or get a tooth cap. She cleaned my dogs tooth very well and even removed a tooth fracture slab that was attached to her gums. Not to mention, her prices are VERY competitively priced. While it's clear she is an expert in this field, she is also very opinionated and unprofessional. I've been coming here for over a year and my dog had an eye issue where the hair around her eyes would fall off. Still to this day, not sure what the cause is although it may mostly be allergies. Dr. Moore prescribed eye drops and an eye cream. While I told her I would like to use Chewy as my prescription pharmacy, she bad-mouthed them and even cursed about the company. A lot of people look to other alternatives for cheaper medications because the vets charge them overpriced. It was not her place to berate me OR chewy. How I choose to purchase my prescription is none of her concern especially if they do online approvals to companies such as these. If she criticizes them so harshly, she shouldn't even allow Chewy online prescriptions in the first place. I went back to her for more medication after that, and it was the same experience. Berated Chewy and how I, as a dog owner, should not be using sources as such. After this small tense experience, I was told that I should look for another vet as Dr. Moore no longer thinks they are a suitable provider. What kind of vet drops a client/patient just like that. Needless to say, I definitely won't be back. Dr. Moore is so unprofessional and cares more about berating Chewy than my dogs. read more

3.5 Stars - Review is for Anesthetic Dental Cleaning with extractions. Price: Great. I reached out to over 20 veterinary offices all over LA and OC. Veterinary Out-Patient Clinic had one of the better pricings. Some places quoted as high as $1,600 for the procedure. Service: Ehh, not so great. Could be a lot better. Long story short (but get ready for a long review) - I first went to a non-anesthetic dental clinic, however my dog's teeth were bad and needed extractions so they recommended an anesthetic cleaning. They quoted $1,200 for the procedure (included 8 extractions and full bloodwork due to my dog's age (10.5 yrs old)). I got a second opinion at another vet and they quoted $1,600 (same anesthetic services with extractions). After researching and calling over 20 vets (yes, I literally called and made a spreadsheet with pricing), I found Veterinary Out-Patient Clinic. They were able to give me a reasonable and itemized quote, which is essentially why I went with them. Other places provided a wide-ranged quote. 1st visit - Standard office visit w/ bloodwork and antibiotic medication ($191 with Yelp check-in). 2nd visit - Anesthetic dental cleaning w/ 3 extractions and more medication ($273). Small/easy extractions: $10/ tooth. Larger/complicated extractions: $20/ tooth but can go as high as $125/ tooth. The reason why service was "ehh" was because they did not call to confirm my dog's bloodwork results until 4:30pm the day before his scheduled procedure (they close at 5pm). I called around noon and they did not review his results yet. Something seemed off. I also asked for a copy of the results and they never sent it even after confirming my email address. Day of: Curbside pick up. I again requested a copy of the bloodwork results and the tech said she will print it and bring it out. I sat in my car for over AN HOUR and they still did not give me a copy. The tech definitely saw me waiting. This was really weird because how do I know bloodwork was actually done if I can't get the results? What if they charged me but never really drew blood/tested? Before drop off, the tech went over a checklist of items and when to call the owners etc. (e.g. call before extractions). I confirmed I wanted to be called/updated throughout. I also denied additional services/charges. During his procedure, I waited for a call since I knew he needed some extractions. Never received a call to confirm. All of a sudden, I get a call saying he's done and slowly waking up. They said they were conservative and only did 3 extractions. I was a little concerned because previous vets mentioned 8 extractions and I was comfortable with that number. Hopefully his teeth don't get worse and require a second visit for additional extractions... At pickup, again curbside, the tech gave me the total cost verbally and took my card, with no itemized receipt or anything. I was in a rush and didnt think to ask for a breakdown. Once I got home, I saw that they tacked on additional medication which I did not approve on the checklist. That was an extra $60. It's day 2 and my dog is doing great, which I'm thankful for since putting any pet over the age of 10 under anesthesia is very risky. I wish this place provided better service. I would have appreciated calls during his procedure to confirm extractions. And most importantly, not adding extra unapproved charges. I noticed other Yelpers mentioned a lot of unnecessary medication as well. Now I have a 40 day supply of drugs that most likely won't be used all. But again, thankful that my dog is doing well and recovered. read more

My dog's teeth were getting pretty gnarly after three years of not getting his teeth cleaned at the vet. From talking to my parents I knew how expensive it could be to get a cleaning. Most places are very vague with their pricing making it even more difficult. After a little bit of searching, this place clearly listed their price for an anesthetic dental cleaning at $150 plus exams, tests, and any other incidentals needed. Honestly, it seemed too good to be true. I called and made an appointment for Obi and they were able to schedule the initial exam the next day, and the cleaning about a week later. I drove from LBC to Orange County to take Obi (my dog). They do curbside pickup, so you call when you arrive, and the vet technician nurse will come out and grab your pet. The initial exam was really quick. They brought out Obi and his antibiotics which came to a total of about $60. Older dogs (5+) will require blood tests so it will be more A week later, I was back dropping off Obi at 10 am for his cleaning. This took a little longer, but they told me they'd give me a call about an hour before I needed to pick him up. Around 12:30 they called me, and I was able to get him at 1:30. I had the option to have a iv/catheter for Obi in case of an emergency, so that was $30 or so extra. In total, it came to $180 that day, which is still very affordable. And overall, Obi's teeth look brand new and much much healthier. So glad I was able to find this vet. read more

I rescued a German shepherd with horrible mange she was very skinny smelly etc. due to her conditions I really thought she would pass away I took her to veterinary out-patient clinic and I had very little hope that they could help us out with her and if they could I expected to pay a lot for her and I'm only 15 years old my mom lost her job due to COVID-19; so we didn't have much. They checked her and said that they can help her and she'll be fine. They gave us the total of how much we would need to pay for the vet visit and medication etc. It was out of are budget range and we told them are situation. They were able to help us and lower the price by a long shot and I can't thank them enough. Now my dog has all her fur back, is up to weight and living her best life! This is a warning that you get what you pay for.. a hard lesson learned for me in a vulnerable time. I called and made an appointment for my dachshund after she exhibited signs of tooth pain and swelling. I was very upfront about what the issue was and was told of availability and scheduled her appointments. On the initial appointment for labs and physical exam, I never spoke to a Vet. All communication was through the front desk staff. We were not put in an exam room or given time to speak to the Dr. My dog was taken from me to the back and then brought back to me when finished. I found this odd but thought maybe they see you (the owner) at the next appointment. I come in for the next appointment and day of drop off for the dental. I was confused when the staff once again came to get my dog and take her back for the procedure. I asked if it was possible to actually speak with the Dr or even like see a Dr with my eyes and I was immediately told that the Dr was busy with a client. I then expressed other concerns and that I really wanted to speak with/see the actual Dr. The staff member then said she would go speak to the Dr and relay my concerns. I watched her walk right to a back room and speak with the Dr even though she was supposedly with a client. It appears that this is their normal practice and they don't usually meet with the owners as I saw many dogs over the course of 2 days being taken back and never coming out to speak with the owners. Dr Moore did then come to speak to me. I will say that she was nice, however, she seemed to want to try to make excuses and act as though this isn't the normal practice to not meet with the owners and stated it was an issue with the Dr on the prior day.. despite the fact that they also tried to not meet with me the second day, as well. This interaction is not even the reason for my 1-star review... What I am truly disgusted with is that during the dental I get a call from the staff telling me that visually the tooth looked good from the outside and asked if I wanted it pulled still. I was confused cause I knew there was an issue with a tooth based on her presentation and swollen snout. It was at this moment, while my dog was under sedation, that I realized they do not have the capabilities to determine which tooth is damaged and causing issues. My usual vet will do X-rays which can show which tooth is the issue so that you're not playing a guessing game while your dog is under anesthesia. This was NEVER communicated to me.... despite me telling them when making the appointment, during the initial appointment and then also explaining to Dr Moore about the swollen face and tooth pain/pawing at her face. I was told many times that they are "conservative" with extractions... that's cause they have limited resources to know if a tooth is bad/causing infection/abscessed! Ultimately, I had to make the difficult decision to pull the tooth since she was already under anesthesia and I was already going to have to pay for all this. Big shocker... when I picked her up and asked to speak with someone so I could know if it looked infected/abscessed after they pulled it (to give me some peace of mind), I was told that they were all busy. I couldn't even drive home, I was crying by the time I walked to my vehicle. I learned a valuable lesson that saving some money isn't always the best option and I wish I had just paid for my usual vet to do it, and do it right the first time. Now I'm faced with having to go back and do this all over again. All because they couldn't just say, "If you feel like your dog has an active tooth infection then you should possibly seek care elsewhere as we cannot always determine which tooth is the issue if there is no outside visible damage." They did call today (the day after) to check in. I expressed my dissatisfaction and stated after the events that have happened I wouldn't want to come back for future appointments. There was no attempt to make it right and not even an apology. She simply reiterated that I could call or bring my dog by for follow up if I wanted to. read more
