My dog has heart issues that have led to her losing all her senses twice over the last week - nearly dying. They scheduled an emergency appointment at 5:30 for a vet to call me. At 6pm, still no call so I called Banfield. I was told that the vet has been so busy and will not follow through. Don't waste your money at Banfield. Instead just save what you would be paying for the wellness plan and take your pet to a different location. read more

I made an appointment for my dog at this Banfield location two weeks ago because she was having an allergic flare-up and causing herself hotspots. Normally, she goes to a location in San Antonio since that's where she started her insurance plan as a puppy, but we have lived in Austin for years. The Brodie location had appointments open within the same week of her ailment, so I took the first available. I know there weren't a ton of great reviews here, but I thought I'd just go in for a refill on her allergy medications and we'd be on our way. Turns out it was a drop-off situation, but she was ready for pickup maybe 2 hours later. I had sent photos of multiple hot spots she'd given herself the days leading up to the appointment to the Banfield clinic's email address. When I got the phone call regarding her situation, Dr. Paiva suggested that we do an anti-histamine treatment and then schedule a follow-up in two weeks to see how my dog is doing. I had never had another doctor consider a different treatment route, so I was willing to give it a try since previously, doing the Cytopoint injections just didn't last as long. A few hours later, I got another phone call from the doctor checking to see how my dog was and suggested I get a cone to keep her from creating any more hotspots on her legs until the medication went into effect. She also added a medicated shampoo prescription to the chart for me to pick up the following day. Honestly, I was impressed with the level of care and concern for my dog that I received here. This isn't to say her previous Banfield visits in the past few years haven't been good, but it usually does just end after you pick your pet up. It is a bummer that we don't get to go in with our pets for the exam (why I gave 4 out of 5 stars), but I guess after Covid, it was easier to streamline and treat more pets this way. During my last visit, though, the doctor did come out to talk about next steps and discuss how my dog has improved. Also, I can't forget how nice the front desk staff was! They're all chill and sweet to the animals that arrive. read more

I was 8 minutes late to an appointment for my dog that had a horrible UTI and was refused care. Been a wellness plan member for 5 years. My dog gets UTIs often so I'm used to bringing in her sample in rather than leaving her there for 6 hours. I had her fresh urine sample (refrigerated) and was refused care because of 8 minutes. I was leaving town the next day and needed her to be seen so I rescheduled an appointment online for an hour later and sat in my car waiting. Got a call 10 minutes before the appointment that the time slot was not actually available and I wasted an hour of my life. The only place that could see her after Banfield screwed me was an ER. I got the BEST care from VEG (south Lamar). Truly incredible place and I highly recommend. The vet did an ultrasound (no charge) and went over that and her UA results with me. Turns out it showed excessive struvite crystals in her urine which can predispose her to more frequent UTIs. The vet at VEG gave me a prescription for urinary diet food to help decrease crystal formation. Something never mentioned or caught after 5 years and multiple UTIs with Banfield. A $600 ER vet bill for a UTI with dog urine I collected MYSELF that Banfield refused to do anything with is worth it for competent care for my dog. read more

I scheduled an appointment online and called to find out I did not have an appointment, even after receiving confirmation emails for two separate times (12:00pm and 12:30pm). As a result, I had to have a walk-in appointment and arrived around 7:05 am. I asked upon check in if previous vet records would be needed and was told they just needed to look at them. I also left breakfast for my cat with instructions to be fed at 12:00 pm. Later in the day, I was called by the vet for my records. I proceeded to send her most recent records in a file and later as a photo because the vet said she was unable to open the original. During that conversation, I was told my cat would be available for pick up at 2:00 pm. I arrived around 2:40-3:00pm as I hadn't received any further communication regarding her pick-up and (surprise!! ) she was not ready for pick up, the vet still hadn't been able to open her records, and was prepared to do blood work as a result (without having any discussion with me about this, because it was listed on my bill.) And of course, she hadn't eaten her breakfast (which I also didn't get back.) On top of this, I spoke with the vet for maybe two seconds, received no actual information outside of the appointment summary where they tried to say my cat is obese (she's skin and bones with lots of fluff because she's a medium hair cat), and then they tried to sell me on some type of vet package they offer. I literally only came here because the other vet clinic didn't have any openings and she just needed a booster shot. I don't think I would ever want to come here for any legitimate health concerns in my pets and I certainly wouldn't trust them to take care of my pets. Altogether, this was quite possibly the worst vet visit I've had and I've owned pets for over 28 years and visited many different vets over the years. Disorganized, mildly incompetent, and altogether disappointing. And please don't contact me because I have no desire to ever come back - you won't win my business back. P.S. - found out after the fact that my sister had an issue with a different Banfield clinic in College Station where they were unable to find a cut on her dog's paw when she was limping around and then tried to say it happened after the initial visit when the paw became infected about a week later. My sister ended up finding the cut and showing it to them at the second appointment because they somehow couldn't even after a "thorough examination." 0/10 - probably not worth it even if you're only coming for annual shots. read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. I have used Banfield for many years (I have got progressively worse service year after year) and this is the final straw that broke the camels back. I went into the hospital for one thing - getting my dogs anal glands expressed. I was told at the time of scheduling that my pet was due for a comprehensive exam, which since it's covered, I agreed to schedule her for. Upon arrival for the appointment, staff asked if I wanted to renew my plan early (9 days). I was on the fence but figured I would be covered if I changed my mind, I was already a member. I unfortunately said okay. This was a massive mistake. Upon coming to pick my dog up, I had second thoughts about the renewal and requested to know how much the one extra test (outside of the expression and wellness exam) would be without the new plan (I have a 10% discount... since I pay for my dogs 2024 wellness membership). What they failed to tell me with the renewal request was that, without my written consent, they cancelled my old plan before I signed the new contract. This then locked me into either signing up for a new plan and paying an entire years worth of payments OR OWING them over half a grand for basically routine work up with a blood test that they told me to come in to do. When I contested all of this, as I DID NOT consent to them cancelling my plan, they told me they couldn't confirm that I had any services LEFT on my old plan. ALSO, because they cancelled (again without my permission or knowledge) my previous plan, I was now ineligible for receiving my 10% discount for services as a member, who had already paid a year!! The manager told me she could give me corporates number but they'd bum be back to the hospital, and that she couldn't do anything for me. All that to say, I'm really not the kind of person to rail on yelp or get angry with service industry staff. I've worked the industry for years and I do understand to a degree. But ultimately this was their fu** up and miscommunication and I was the one who is now out half a grand. Long story short, avoid Banfield like the plague. Management did not take responsibility for their staff's lack of communication and ultimately their mistake, which should have been theirs to own. This company is garbage and predatory. Beware of signing up for their plans, it's like a gym membership -- you can never leave. When I was no longer making regular visits, I ended the recurring charges through my bank and they continued to charge me and reported it for debt collections. Service is always subpar. Every time I've gone in and asked them to perform basic grooming on my dog, such as trimming nails, they come back and say they don't know how to get her to sit still. I'm able to get my dog to remain calm while I trim her nails and also while out in public in crowded and chaotic environments. You would think that a veterinary clinic would have those skills as well and would also have a quiet space to care for the animals when they are overstimulated, but they don't. They just send your pet back without the work done claiming they couldn't get the pet to sit still. read more

Okay friends, let me make this easy for you: DON'T DO IT. If you have a pet, and love them enough to care for their well-being, take them pretty much anywhere else. Yes, the location is convenient, first visit is free, and support staff are certainly nice, but the care is... Nonexistent. When the doctor came out and started referring to my four-legged son as "it," that was a huge red flag. I'm sorry, he's my baby boy, he is not an object. Then, because he was freaked out at being dragged away from me (I could hear him screaming from outside the room), they couldn't even perform a routine checkup. Yet, they still charged me for one. I never did get a straight answer and couldn't get a refund because the manager wasn't there, or some pitiful excuse. We are never going back. read more

They still operate under the guise of the pandemic -- not allowing clients to be with their animals during exams is absurd! Dog has separation anxiety you say? Too bad stick him in a cage. I made an appointment here and received an email that I would need to have my pet's records. I called to inquire as to how I could forward the digital records I have to them. The first time I tried, they answered the phone and said "do you mind if we put you in a brief hold". I was on hold for 25 minutes and no one ever picked up. I tried again the next day and when they asked if I could hold, I said no but they put me on hold anyway. I waited about 15 minutes and then hung up. I left a message both times when using the phone prompts and no one ever returned my call. I took my business elsewhere and I advise you to do the same. read more

I adopted my dog a bit unexpectedly at the beginning of the pandemic, and decided to use Banfield as her vet for convenience. It helped greatly when I ended up moving to Austin and it was simple to transfer her records. The basic wellness plan works fine - for her normal check-ups and such. The problem is when your pet gets sick. My dog got a UTI about a month ago now and they confirmed that she needed medication. The dosage was unclear, my dog was still infected (and I had to spend more $$ to get another test), and while the doctor was going through a bunch of (expensive) options to try to figure out the next step, we realized I was giving the wrong dosage. Ok, time to spend more $$ to try the right dosage. Still infected. At this point I was concerned that the infection was getting worse. My dog is continuously leaking (and is still, to this day). So of course I agreed to a $200 test. Problem is it would take a week to get the results. I ask if there's anything they can do to help her leakage. They said no, I have to wait. Ok. Finally got the results and the doctor calls and leaves a voicemail about medication and to urgently call her back in the morning. I try to call them back, phones not being answered. I leave a voicemail. The doctor leaves me another voicemail. Try calling again, no one answers. This goes on for another day. I decide to go to the actual Banfield, only to find out the meds are out of stock. They send me to the Mueller location. I drive across town in traffic to try to get the meds, They're unable to release them to me because the doctor didn't sign off. We try calling this location from Mueller and no one is answering the phone?? I wait there for 15 mins, calling again and again. I get frustrated and leave. For the last week, DAILY, I've been calling this Banfield at least once an hour, to inquire about the medication. I've only been answered ONCE, to inform me that the medication is unavailable. I let them know my dog has been sick for a month and I really need it. I call again yesterday morning. They say the meds are still unavailable. Then not 2 hours later they call me and tell me I urgently need to pick up the meds?? When they said they were out of stock just that morning. I paid $200 for a lab that happened 2 weeks ago, and they don't have my meds AND there was no follow-up call from the doctor to explain the issue after playing phone tag for a week. At this point I'm annoyed and decide to move to a different vet that actually cares about their animals. I have to call to get my records transferred. 2 days of incessant calling, NO ONE responds. I drive to Banfield and tell them in person that I'm switching vets and to transfer my records. What kind of business allows their phones to remain unanswered the whole day for multiple days at a time? And when I do get an answer I get the longest hold of all time, just so I can hang up and call them again? Look, the front desk staff are nice people. But there's something to be said about how completely understaffed they are and the lack of communication AND effort to get the medication to my dog in a timely manner. I'm normally a super patient person but please take your pet elsewhere. If not for your pet, then for your mental state. read more

The staff is the absolute worst. They often forget you are on hold waiting on them (been on hold for 12 mins now and counting) to answer a concern I have with my dog. When taking your pet over they do not understand that some dogs don't like to be near other ones, so telling the owner to weigh their pet on the scale at check isn't an option, and telling them to ignore the other dogs clearly won't help. It is unfortunate, as the veterinarians seem to know what they are doing and are willing to go above and beyond to help, but their staff make up for a lack luster experience. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. It wasn't even so much the place as it was the vet. I went here for years with my cat and never had an issue. Recently went for a basic check up with my boyfriends dog and we got a different vet- Dr. PAIVA. We called around to a lot of different places, including this office before our visit. Just needed a checkup to get a refill on our dogs allergy medication. This doctor was beyond difficult to understand, hung up on us 3 times. Our call logs show 14 calls combined trying to handle this drop off vet visit. She started out saying "it's highly recommended" to then saying "it's required." The requirements were something we confirmed before making appointments so everything was obviously a scam. An appt that was to he $60 ended up $450. We had to do unnecessary blood work and then our dog needed medication because while there she started showing blood in her stools and had a giant cut on her nose from being in the crate. They then still used a muzzle on her. I know everyone says their dog is this and that and sometimes when reading reviews - it's like hmmm do I believe this? But our dog has never had issues with aggression. They called her previous vet for records then called us and said it'd take 48 hours so we might as well do everything that was now required. We called her previous vet and we're able to get the records while on the phone. She still didn't receive the records after five resent emails. We finally included a super nice tech and then she got it. She also questioned our vaccines when they were done by petsmart. Like I said- I won't trash the place bc some of the techs were very kind and I had nothing but positive experiences before but this vet should be let go and avoided at all costs. Also, reported her to the board because we talked to them and they said everything that was "required" is absolutely not required and up to the owners. read more

Do not take your pet here. Zero stars needs to be an option. This place has the most incompetent team. I paid for both of my dogs to be seen here and dr. Paiva couldn't even write the correct dog on the referral, and I've been trying for 3 days now to get them to correct it and send me an updated copy. How much do you care if you don't even remember which dog has which condition? I'm appalled that I am having to spend my time day after day chasing this place to fix their mistake, being put on hold 20 min every time. But they have already got their money, so they definitely don't care. Maybe one day I'll get the correct referral (for potential CANCER Dr. Paiva had said) sent to my email so that I can take care of my dog, because they sure don't. read more

Used to really support Banfield however the pandemic ruined this place. They got way to comfortable with just having people drop the dog off and not stay for the appointment. This has now led to my dogs being stuck in a cage for 7+ hours for simple visits like an annual check up or routine vaccines. It's really a horrible way to treat animals and I've since changed clinics. Hope they decide to go back to regular appointment styles so animals are not spending all day caged for no reason. read more

Two automated emails and nearly 2 weeks have passed and I have yet to speak to anyone or address anything. I paid for lab tests and have received ZERO communication about the results. First they were promised in a day. Then I was told they meant 1 week. It's now been over 3 weeks. Send the money back so I can take my dog to a reliable vet. read more

I've been taking my dog, suzie here, since she was a puppy using their puppy plan. Honestly, this place is great. They are busy, but they always take good care of suzie and are so happy and friendly with all the animals coming in. STAY AWAY. I strongly regret not switching vets sooner. I brought my dog in a month ago to have the vet check out a huge mass that only occasionally protrudes from her poor hip and she can barely walk. The mass was not showing at the time of her appointment so the vet said all looked good and she sent her home, even though my dog cannot walk. She said we could come back for an ultrasound if I really wanted to (this mass is the size of a golfball inside of my 6lb dog's hip). I decided to schedule ANOTHER appointment for testing. A month later at the first available appt, she went in for several tests including an ultrasound and bloodwork to which the vet said all looked normal again and sent her home. I then received a call from the vet saying something was wrong with their machine and I needed to bring my dog back in for bloodwork again. I double-checked her visit record and there was nothing on there regarding the bloodwork so they didn't even do it, even though the vet told me that the results were normal. I was charged for the bloodwork, and charged for a nail trimming which they also did NOT do. I've spent over $600 in tests for my poor dog and they just keep telling me that everything looks good, even though she very clearly is not well. Now I'm not sure if they've actually done any tests at all. If you care about your fur baby, do NOT go here. read more

How about ZERO stars? I had an appalling experience on 9/11/23 at the Banfield Pet Hospital on Brodie Lane in Austin, Texas. We travel full time in an RV which is why we transferred everything to Banfield since their locations are national. I made an appointment 2 days in advance to check my dog's lame foot. The appointment was confirmed by text but later changed to a walk-in. They wanted me to drop the dog off and they would get to her when they could. I was told I couldn't speak to the vet; they would have to convey whatever details I had via 3rd party. Then I was told it would be several hours before they could get to her. When I complained they changed it to 1-2 hours minimum because of tests and x-rays. NO! No tests or x-rays before the vet examined the dog to determine whether or not they were needed. Even then, I would want a consultation and the option to approve them. The receptionist went into the back to talk to the vet who wasn't even back from lunch (now 1:20). They close from Noon to 1 pm for lunch - but with hours of backed up appointments and surgeries, you'd think they'd be back on time! The time frame changed again to over 3 hours because of...you guessed it...the time to take tests and x-rays! HELLO? Didn't we just cover that!? At this point, they were not honoring the appointment they made AND confirmed; they were not allowing me to explain to a medical professional the issues that led up the injury; and they were not listening when I said NO tests or x-rays without my approval. This place is a hot mess. And because of their total lack of organization and professionalism, I no longer trusted my dog in their care, so I canceled the appointment. When I turned to walk away, an older women with a small dog, who'd been listening to this exchange, started screaming at the receptionist for some other issue she couldn't get resolved. No apologies were offered. The receptionist was woefully under-trained, and didn't call for assistance. This situation was unacceptable and I question the value in relying on Banfield for national support. My dog needs a real vet, not some cookie-cutter conveyor belt. It's been several hours and I'm still fuming over this. My dog deserved better. read more

I wish I could give this location zero stars but it is not an option. I dropped my cat off at 9am for a simple check up and called at 3pm to ask if she'd been seen. The receptionist said that the doctor was seeing another pet and seeing them "in the order they were dropped off". I was compliant and said thank you. At 5pm, an hour before closing , I called again. Nobody answered the first call so I called AGAIN. I got put on hold for FIFTEEN MINUTES. My poor cat has been sitting in her crate since 9am , unseen, for a simple mouth ulcer. I'm not sure how many people dropped their animal off before me at 9am when they opened at 8am, but this is ridiculous. I'm so frustrated I'm in tears. I do NOT recommend this place. read more

Do yourselves a favor and go to another location! Calls go unanswered 9 out of 10 times. When they do answer the holds are crazy long and sometimes as an added bonus THEY hang up on you. The last vet we saw stated she would do a phone followup one week from our visit and we did not get a call. I have called and requested a call back x 3, called today since I have not heard back and the doctor will not be in until Saturday. The list goes on. read more

I've been to quite a few Banfield locations over the years and this one is by far the worst. The dogs in my family have been loyal Banfield patients for more than 20 years, going back to my childhood dog. And this place changed all of that. There was a period last summer where they literally didn't even answer their phone -- it was a busy signal every time we called -- for weeks on end, no matter what time of day. We had to call the Petsmart and have them page Banfield to even schedule an appointment. They booked my dog for several appointments where they did nothing for her (no tests, no treatment -- nothing) because of a lack of clarity and a miscommunication on next steps. We had both of our dogs on Wellness Plans and moving them off the plans to switch to a different vet has been a painful process. One dog died and they made us keep paying for her wellness plan for another 2 - 3 months. The other dog was no longer visiting this clinic and they told us we had to continue paying on her Wellness Plan for another YEAR past when she stopped going there. So that's literally hundreds of extra dollars they will receive on a dog that isn't one of their patients. They also won't send my dog's ultrasound records to the new vet (it has now been months and they still haven't done it), so even after switching to a new vet, this place continues to be a thorn in my side. Dr. Paiva is a good vet. She doesn't have great bedside manner, but she gave decent care to my old dog before she passed, so for that I'm thankful and I'll give credit where credit is due. But the clinic as a whole is abysmal with terrible customer service. Don't take your pets here unless you want to continuously pull out your hair out of frustration. read more

I had been with Banfield for roughly 6 years - My dog is only 7 years old. After scheduling his annual dental cleaning, they performed the routine bloodwork that then came back alarming. There were certain levels that were high and they decided to not do the dental cleaning & wanted to run more labs on his bloodwork to rule out things like liver disease, etc. All of those tests came back negative! Next steps, they wanted to do an ultrasound since he had been throwing up in the middle of the night (just once or twice and then he would be fine for the rest of the day) for about a week at this point. So we did the ultrasound and it was determined in a verbal report that there was a foreign body inside of his duodenum. I scheduled the surgery to have the foreign body removed for the following morning. That morning I brought him in and dropped him off - only to receive a call from a different vet (different than the one who originally was supposed to do his surgery) that day letting me know that it is not a foreign body according to the written report and that it was in fact a tumor. Although I was very emotional, I stayed on the phone with the vet after receiving this devastating news and was encouraged to go to a specialist since, now that it was cancer we are dealing with, they did not feel best equipped to perform the additional procedures and testing that might be needed for him. Now that my emotions were heavily involved, I was willing to do whatever was necessary to keep my animal comfortable for as long as possible! I go to the specialist - where they perform a CT Scan, an Upper GI scope and then opened him up to determine it is in fact a foreign body and not a tumor at all!!! It was a RUBBER BALL. Therefore, after misdiagnosing my animal with CANCER, due to the inability to read imaging correctly, allowing me to believe and confirming that intestinal cancer is usually fatal and not much can be done outside of chemo and keeping them comfortable and then sending me off to a specialist - $4700 later, my trust in Banfield for the proper care of my animal had been tarnished to say the least. I was very upset, went into the Brodie Ln location to speak with a manager and to collect a document needed for his food and was told after sharing a bit of my story with the girl at the front desk - that on this same day, another woman came in extremely upset because she had to get her dog vaccinated for traveling outside of the country and they gave her animal the wrong vaccinations! This is so shocking and shows that they simply want as many people in at once to make as much money as possible, without giving their undivided attention to the details and specifics on medical history or what is really needed because they don't really KNOW the animals they're providing care to! A manager reached out to me & instead of trying to reconcile the situation and to maintain the patient/doctor relationship and my continued business after 6+ years - they instead said they did what was necessary and encouraged me to find a new insurance provider/vet for my animal. Even when I called back to see if there was a way for us to resolve the situation, since emotions were very high in the heat of the moment & they still suggested I go elsewhere since my trust had been broken for them. Literally ZERO effort to help financially after incorrectly diagnosing my animal etc. or telling me they want to make things right, even after this happening. Most reputable companies can take accountability and WANT to make it right! Especially after 7 years almost of business. Banfield clearly does not operate like that, it is simply a numbers game and they will easily replace you with the next pet owner that expects quality care for their animal but will only receive mediocre care, an inability to provide proper diagnoses and a lack of genuine empathy in situations that could have been avoided if due diligence was followed adequately! What a joke of a vet. Corporate corporate corporate - only out for a profit, not for the well-being of the animals and owners they service. Their front desk is overworked and does their best and, despite what is obviously a poorly run business, seems to be able to push this aside and treat customers with respect and have an obvious love for the animals. Whoa is it time for an update. Still, pro activity is your key to Banfield. When my dog's prescription ran out, and I ordered it online from an outsource company (recommended by the vet), the company actually called me to say that they had been faxing and calling Banfield for a week, and no one had approved the refill. When I checked with Banfield, our vet was on vacation and all paperwork was placed in his in-box. We ow deduce that there is no management for the staff back up. I insisted that the paperwork immediately be taken to an alternate vet, approved, and authorized. When I asked the support staffer how I would know this would be done within hour, I got him to say, " I'll call you as soon as I know." That was the correct answer. Upon our last visit, we took in both dogs: one for an office visit, one for a simple bi-weekly shot, which he has been taking for a year. This dog becomes completely unglued after too much time at Banfield, and I don't blame him. We waited for 45 minutes, though we had an appointment. When the dog finally pooped in the waiting area, and no attendant really acknowledged the fact that we were both "done" I announced that we had reached out limit and that we did not need to wait 45 minutes for a 4 second shot. In a flash, the vet was ready to dispense. When we were done and racy to go, all support staff had disappeared. I was so pissed off, I left without paying and told my partner (who had the other dog in the exam room) to deal with it because I had been abandoned. read more

Go somewhere else for your sake and your pets. Was placed on 20 min hold and they hung up on me then put on another 10 min hold after I called back. Staff was cold and unfriendly and charged me for something that was supposed to be free. I did get my money back but I will not be going back. read more

Our dog Riley is 14 years old. He recently suffered a health crisis which affected his lungs and heart. He was having trouble breathing and also lost his appetite. We brought Riley into Banfield where he was treated by Dr. Pocernich. She has been treating Riley over the last few weeks. Dr. Pocernich has lots of compassion, her decision making and problem solving skills are excellent, and her interpersonal skills are outstanding. She continually calls us to check on his progress even though we know she is working long hours. We thought we would lose Riley, but since he has been under Dr. Pocernich's care he has continued to show improvement and is returning to his old self. I made an appt for my newly adopted dog to have two booster shots. My husband had to take him to the appointment. He had a picture of the boosters needed from South Park animal hospital (where he had ALREADY received all of his first shots). The tech told my husband he needed 4 shots including rabies. My husband told her he already had his rabies. She said that since he didn't have the rabies shot certificate or proof with him, they would have to administer another rabies shot. WHAT?!! Absolutely not. He was unable to get ahold of me and was charged for two shots my dog did not need. I have been coming to banfield for over 15 years...I will never go back to this location. Shame on you guys for taking advantage of customers. I will be reaching out to corporate and expect a full refund for services rendered that were 100% not needed. So disappointed. read more

I feel the need to review and update. We literally have 6 pets all on Wellness plans with Banfield. We have used them, and this is important for people to understand, for BASiC care of our pets for over a decade. Sometimes pet care evolves out of the hands of general vets and it is important to see that in your pet.. Like one of our pets had eye issues. We found this was hard for the emergency vet we sent her to but luckily Banfield caught this and sent us to a specialist. Now we are aware to be more proactive when our animals are aging and what their appropriate needs may be moving forward.. That being said, the staff at Banfield are wonderful. Let's look past the front desk which seems to be the bulk of the complaints. Customer Service when dealing with a high volume of calls and appointments is difficult. I work in this industry and I can not even begin to try and give them some pointers. I would rather focus on the good hard work of some of the Vets and staff I have come across. Dr. Broecker and Dr Lee are pretty awesome. I have had them in the past but they assisted me this past week with my dogs ZUZU, Adelaide and Gnocchi along with my cat Freddie Mercury. Their vet techs also were amazing.. Candace, Alicia (sp?) and Liz. Great bedside manners, answered all my questions and you know, I liked them! My one critique has nothing to do with the quality of service but does have to do with some changes I have noticed with comprehensive exams. I have 6 pets on the Wellness Plans like I mentioned. They are cutting back on the office exams for these and pushing for drop offs. I can agree this probably helps with moving things along and getting people in and out.. but I have some challenging patients who are terrified. Also, I like to be there to ask questIons and be face to face. Maybe a suggestion for those who have 2 of these comprehensive exams a year is doing one drop off and one in office. I feel like I provide a steady stream of dollars flowing in with these wellness plans, being able to easily schedule and get into a vet is a must. Pushing us to drop off isn't cool. Short version: DO NOT take your dogs here, even if they appear healthy. Long version: My dogs have been on a Banfield Wellness plan since 2009. We usually go to this location, but also visit the South Park Meadows location at times. The care and service has dramatically gotten worse at both locations. It is nearly impossible to get an appointment in any kind of timely manner. They prefer you to drop off your dogs to sit in a kennel for 10+ hours, without bathroom breaks, for a 10 minute exam. It takes several days, or even longer, to get an appointment. If your dog is sick, you are out of luck. If you are lucky enough to get an appointment, wait times are very long. The front desk is usually disorganized, slow and often rude. My 9 year old otherwise healthy dog was just diagnosed with IMHA, and after 2 weeks, passed away. I brought him to a smaller vet because I don't trust Banfield anymore. Plus they couldn't see him anytime soon, even though I insisted he was very ill and needed to be seen that day. Looking back at his care, his weight had continually dropped, but every time I asked the Banfield vet, they told me they "weren't worried." Well turns out he was developing a life threatening condition and it would have been beneficial to re-check him, instead of just blowing it off. On top of all this, Banfield doesn't let you cancel their wellness program without paying a fee. So if their poor care possibly killed your dog, you still pay their monthly fee. :( read more

UPDATE to my review: if I could give less than one star, less than zero stars even, all the negative stars, I would do it. Have now taken my other female dog to the Banfield at Southpark Meadows because there's no way I'm ever going back to Brodie. I had asked about the lumps on my other dog previously, and the Brodie vets just said she had them because she's fat. Asked the vet at Southpark Meadows during her comprehensive yesterday, and she said a couple were a bit concerning and should get tested in the future. What is wrong with you Brodie Banfield?! My other poor girl had surgery today to remove her cancerous lumps, and now we're potentially dealing with this again with our other dog. Way to go guys, really. Seriously, eff this Banfield. We've been taking our sweet little female lab here since we found her on the streets a couple of years ago. Shortly after we found her, she developed a growth on her hip, and the vets here brushed it off as probably nothing and they'd just monitor its size. No big deal. After awhile I was honestly just not having good feelings about this Banfield and decided to to start taking my dogs to the one at Southpark Meadows. Instantly they just seemed friendlier and more concerned with our dogs' well-being. When it came time for our lab's checkup, I made sure to ask about the growth on her hip. The vet there was very concerned with the growth and wanted to have it tested, so we moved forward with that. Turns out she has freaking CANCER AND WE COULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT IT SOONER IF THE VET AT THE BRODIE BANFIELD WOULD HAVE BEEN AT ALL CONCERNED!!! I'm so ANGRY. The vet at the Southpark Meadows Banfield is concerned enough that we now have to take her to a surgical specialist. AND she's had it for so long now on account of their lack of concern that I'm worried it's metastasized. Thanks a lot Brodie Banfield. Don't take your pets here. Please. read more

I have been taking my Bear since 2014. They have always been so nice to my Bear. Every visit they follow up with him the following day. They are very accommodating when I have had to take Bear in for an emergency. The wellness plan they provide is well worth it. I have saved so much money by having Bear on it. I high recommend it. The staff is all very friendly. The staff will also call you if any additional service is needed and ask for your permission. My Bear gets his annual teeth clean, annual vaccinations and regular check ups. Which are all included on his wellness plan. They always ask me if I have any concerns with Bear that they can help me with. I also love that when I travel with Bear if I ever needed to take Bear to the vet he would be covered at any Banfield in the US. That is very comforting to know. read more
