Here is what I ordered: Appetizer salad with peanut vinaigrette (dressing was a little thick, but the small dollop they gave me spread a long way) - Appetizer trio: crab wontons, Thai egg rolls, pot stickers. The wontons were disappointingly cold. They also had corn in them! I'm still deciding if the unexpected texture and sight of corn in my crabwas a "nice" surprise... A surprise nonetheles - Piping hot egg rolls with hint of pork flavor. Very tasty... And I'm not a huge fan of egg rolls, but these tasted more like fat lumpia. - Pot stickers were hot and crispy, but the filling was overshadowed by the thick potsticker skins, which were reminiscent of pie crust. Once again, great flavor, but one tiny thing was just a little off. The entree came out two seconds after the appetizer. I would have liked for it to have arrived at my table a bit earlier (or my entree a bit later), otherwise I'm racing to eat everything while it's still hot! Not cute. - My entree was a delicious yellow curry with chicken. The curry had a nice kick at "medium spicy." Tender chicken... And the onions and potatoes were cooked perfectly. My husband brought home food from this restaurant one night and it really hit the spot. Our last to go Thai experience was a bit meh so we were really happy to find a good spot where we can get decent Thai takeout. My husband brought home green avocado curry, tom yum soup (the one without the coconut), and pad thai. The green curry was truly green this time (unlike the last place) and we loved the addition of avocado. This makes for a rich dish in combination with the coconut so be aware of that. I'm not a huge fan of pad thai normally, but this version was authentic. You could taste the fish sauce and tamarind, and it came with a good complement of toppings. This place is authentic so if you order spicy food, you get spicy food! My husband asked for a 3 on the tom yum and it was very spicy. Maybe they made a mistake and gave him a 5. We went here for lunch on a Saturday. The ambiance is really nice and the servers very friendly. We started off with the fresh rolls with tofu. They were fresh and flavorful. The peanut sauce was nice too. I had the Green Curry Noodles with chicken while my wife got the veggie Pad Thai. For several months, Bangkok Basil had just an ominous "Coming Soon" banner hanging across the windows but without any indication of exactly how soon. In November 2011, that question was answered by the grand opening of one of the best restaurants in Redmond. I'm immensely thankful that this phenomenal Thai restaurant opened up so close to my house. In the few weeks that this business has existed, it has managed to outshine most of the local restaurants that I have known for years. Even though I've never developed a taste for Thai food, I can still appreciate how good the food here is. West Lake Sammamish Parkway is a humble location that is not known for drawing in many outsiders, and the appearance of Bangkok Basil from the outside is nothing ostentatious either. But upon walking into this restaurant, four details about it jumped out at me. My first impression was that the warmth of the building provided a much-needed respite from the biting cold outside. The place is extraordinarily comfortable. I secondly noticed that numerous plants, lamps, paintings, and Christmas lights hanging about provided very pleasing decor and made the place feel much more welcoming. Third, it was impeccably clean inside, and it was obvious that a great deal of effort had been put into tidying up the erstwhile vacant spot. My final remark is that the restaurant only seemed to have seven tables. It's such a shame that this place can't seat more people at once. The waitress here was very friendly and attentive. I got to hear her speak Thai as she chatted with my friend who had spent two years in Thailand. After placing my order, I did not have to wait long for the egg drop soup appetizer to arrive. My main dish, pineapple stir fry, came before I was even done with the soup. Like much of Thai cuisine, especially the parts involving pineapples, the dish is rather sweet. It is a rather exotic taste that is complemented by the spiciness that you can choose from a scale of one to five, as well as a choice of chicken, beef, or pork. There are some other things thrown in there, like carrots, salad, onions, and a scoop of white rice to the side. What might initially come across as a curious mélange of ingredients actually works together to form a brilliant and addictive flavor that I've scarcely been able to find elsewhere. After finishing my meal, I was full but craved more. In text, it's difficult to describe adequately, but it's really something you'd be better off experiencing first-hand anyway. Given my limited knowledge of Thai food, I cannot say much for the authenticity, although my friend who is already an expert on Thai culture certainly enjoyed it. Mom and pop shop with good food...just don't expect it to be spicy I am giving it a 4 stars because the most important thing is the food which indeed is tasty. Service is slow, but since its a mom and pop run restaurant I won't fault them for it. I took off one star because I requested spicy level 5 (out of 5) yet my food was not spicy. Its I think catered to the non-Asian population, so it feel watered down. The menu is extensive, so there's plenty to choose from. Expect to pay $2 to $3 more per dish compared to other Thai restaurants. The garlic chicken was really tasty. The garb lai needed more citrus and the pennag curry while good was missing spice. So I went in and ordered a beef pad thai and chicken satay to go after work. The place was nice, clean, and the cashier was friendly, it was a good atmosphere. As far as the food goes, the chicken satay was pretty good, what I expected for chicken satay, but the pad thai I got was a memorable experience. It was not good at all, there were bites that I had that resembled boiled noodles. For most of the dish, there was very little to no flavor at all, it had felt like I was eating food just for the sustenance rather than to enjoy myself. I'm sure the other dishes are great, but the pad thai was not something I'd ever recommend to anyone ever. Also there was no lime, which was also rather odd. It was full around 12ish, but didn't have to wait much for a table. The lunch items are $8 for a negligible "salad" (although really bomb peanut sauce dressing), a small side of pad thai, and your entree of choice. I got the Tom Kha Noodle in soup w/ chicken. Not many thai restaurants offer this item. I love tom kha soup, but I never want to order it unless there are enough people to share with. BUT this is in a noodle soup form! My new favorite Thai spot! The layout of the restaurant gives it a nice intimate feel with fun decor. The food is prepared amazingly fast is quite delicious. Portions are pretty standard. The green curry had great depth of flavor, and if you wanna treat yourself they have an avocado green curry that takes it to the next level. Noodle dishes and stir fry both are above average as well, with lots of different options and combinations. Phad Thai is a little lite on veggies, but most of the other noddle and stir fry dishes have a good amount. Reasonable prices with super yummy authentic flavor. I love this place! The food is authentic and delicious. Service is fast. Nice atmosphere too - classier than your usual hole-in-the-wall Asian restaurant. Everytime I go I think to myself: "Today's the day, Jess. Today's the day for being adventurous and trying something new and unknown and exciting!" But then I read the menu and get stuck on the description on Pad Kee Mao again. It just sounds so inviting! It's suddenly, again, everything I want and why would I ever order something different? And then my boyfriend does the exact same thing and orders his favorite, Pad Thai, and I ask incredulously, "Again? Didn't you say you were going to try something new this time?" The Thai food here was excellent. It is a smaller restaurant but it seems that they get a ton of takeout orders. We had a noodle dish, the avocado curry, garlic chicken and basil fried rice. Everything was delicious. The avocado curry was one of my favorites. There were huge pieces of avocado in the curry. We got everything 3 stars but the noodle dish seemed extremely spicy. Everything was delicious and wasn't overly expensive. For 4 dishes it was about $50 so not overly expensive for the area. I would definitely recommend this place for some delicious Thai. read more

I live in Seattle and have been going here for years after taking my dog to Marymoor. This place is my absolute favorite Thai restaurant! Better than any of the numerous Thai restaurants in Seattle. After spending a few months in Thailand I fell in love with the food and this place delivers with the high quality authentic flavors! So I've been back a number of times and it's been consistently friendly, good service, it's more Asian style so they don't rush you out, but if you're in a hurry, let them know and they can move things along. I ordered the Basil Fried Rice and the Thai style garlic beef and they both were very flavorful and delicious. The rice is cooked just right and the veggies are crisp and fresh. They also gave me a free soup before the meal and that was really good as well. I didn't make room for dessert this time but I've had many of their desserts and they are all very good, not too sweet, just right! In past visits I've tried the seafood curry powder dish which is super flavorful and amazingly good, the pad thai is ketchup free and the thin noodles always come out just right. The pad kee mao is spicy and has the right mix of veggies and meat, and the noodles aren't overcooked (It seems the wider noodles are harder to cook right, many other places I've been to seem to have noodles that just fall apart when you try to grab them). I was unsure about the location but this was the easiest place to get to from where I work. Didn't have to go through any side streets and the many stop lights in redmond. Seating: Small and only seats about 30 people. Lunch time is very busy! All seats were filled and I was obliged to get to-go to eat somewhere else because I couldn't have a seat anywhere. The red coconut curry of spiciness level 3 with jasmine rice is great, by the way! I would come back for more, but not during such a busy time because it's personally less convenient for me. This seems to be a popular spot. Its local competitor, Thai 65, is usually a lot quieter and is usually my go-to only because it's closer to where I live. I have been a long time customer of Bangkok Basil. It is my go to for what I call basic Thai take out. I tout the deliciousness of their red curry, and the consistency of their execution and spice levels. Recently, we did a big order - over $100 - and there were multiple errors. I called the restaurant and let them know, not because I expected anything, but because I sincerely thought something was wrong. They were SO kind and addressed the issues immediately. I figured I was long overdue for writing them a review for their great food, but I really wanted to remark on the customer service which was top notch and humble. There needs to be a new review category for "did you feel comfortable ordering from this restaurant during the pandemic" because my review is over the lack of wearing a mask by the front of restaurant (cashier) person. I observed the person going from the kitchen back and forth, assembling to-go orders, touching their face, the whole time with a mask dangling around the neck. It did look like the wrong type of mask with a filter that disperses your breath into the air, rather than one that fully contains, so maybe they were unprepared with a proper one that day? I didn't feel unsafe about eating the food, but it sends the wrong message to greet customers without a mask when there are plenty of other restaurants out there taking all the precautions. read more
