Place closes at 9 so it was understandably empty. I am guessing maybe 10 tables so no a big place. The hostess / server was so friendly and responsive - even while starting her closing responsibilities. I think she may be part of the family that owns the place. An older Asian woman walked and you could tell she was an OG. :-) I started with gyoza. 5 in an order. Excellent. Served with a sweet and sour sauce. I prefer ginger / soy type sauce. I should have asked for a sub. I'm sure they would have done it. Also got a cup of the Tom Yum soup with chicken. The server accidentally brought me a bowl but charged me for a cup. Enjoyed a delicious lunch of yellow curry here recently with my friend. I'd only been once before, many years ago, and I'd forgotten how good it was. Upon entering the waitress told us to sit anywhere. It's a VERY small space, but they make it work. She came to us quickly with menus and to take drink orders. They offer a fantastic lunch menu, which I was really impressed by their pricing. I ended up getting chicken yellow curry, which came with a small fried spring roll, all for under $9. Now it wasn't a massive portion by any means, it was a reasonable, probably appropriately sized portion for a lunch. I did not leave with left overs, but I certainly didn't not leave hungry either. One would only have to peruse my page to figure out that Thai is one of my favorite cuisines. I eat A LOT of Thai food and LOVE Thai any day of the week. So when I see a Yelp listing with 4.5 stars, and it's a Thai restaurant, I'm game. Spoiler alert: this was not a 4.5-star experience I ordered takeout via phone. The young lady on the phone was prompt and helpful. I ordered spring rolls and Drunken Noodles with Tofu. When I arrived, I paid, and she promptly brought my order back from the kitchen. The ambiance is sparse and no frills. I was super hungry, so I attempted to eat it in the car. The spring rolls were pretty good. They were hot, well-cooked and a good-sized portion. Unfortunately, this is where the compliments screech to a halt. The drunken noodles were AWFUL, no sauce, no flavor. It was oil with veggies, noodles, and tofu. It wasn't a cohesive dish, and I don't know if they ran out of sauce and thought I wouldn't notice, but it was inedible despite my repeated mixing. I tried out a new lunch spot today at Bangkok Café. I've never heard of them until I did a Google search for lunch specials in my area and thought I would give them a try. I arrived around 12:15 PM and it was moderately busy but plenty of seats available. It's a nice casual place that kind of accommodate a single diner or 2 to 4 people appears at some tables could be put together for larger groups, although it is relatively smaller establishment than a full-size restaurant. The waitress greeted us immediately had us pick our own seat and were immediately given the lunch menu. Service was prompt. We ordered our food and within a couple minutes received a complementary spring roll and then had our lunch dishes out under 10 minutes. I decided to go with the Chicken pad Thai. There are a few levels of spiciness and I chose medium hot. The dish came out fresh and hot nicely arranged on the bowl. The pad Thai was done nicely because the sweet and spiciness were not overpowering, bur balanced well. The medium hot spiciness level in the dish was accurate. The chicken in the pad Thai was grilled nicely, thin and tender. I'm so picky about ordering food that does not come out hot and gets cold quickly but I loved the fact that this dish not only came out hot and steamy, but was still warm towards the last few bites. I've had many Pad Thai dishes in the past and by far this is the best one I've had in the Greensboro area. The price point for their lunch menu is a really good value for the quality and portion of the food. I would highly recommend! read more

I tried Bangkok Cafe for lunch on a tight timeline. Seating and service in the quaint, clean dining room was very prompt and comfortable despite close quarters. I strayed from typical spring rolls and crab Rangoon and ordered a new to me appetizer - the Chive Dumplings. They looked quite appetizing and the sauce was quite delicious but the mouthfeel/texture did not appeal to me as it was gelatinous (and unflavored despite the chives on top). The complimentary roll was perfectly crisp and tasty though, so perhaps I'll stick to a more mainstream appetizer next time. I ordered the seafood green curry and the smell was quite off-putting, like a foul public restroom. I couldn't discern if it was bad seafood (likely) or if it was just something I'm not accustomed to, but it left me unable to eat. My husband was thrilled with his Pad Thai, so again, maybe it's just me ordering the wrong thing! Everything looked so good so I would definitely try it again, but order something else. read more

Bangkok has been my favorite lunch spot for years! If you like friendly service, family owned, authentic, healthy, delicious dishes, this is the place to go! I have never ordered anything that I did not enjoy from chicken and basil to any of their many curry dishes. The dining room is cozy so get there early for lunch. Specials come with a yummy little fried spring roll with a sweet orange dipping sauce. I could eat 20 of them. They have recently added more dishes to the menu so definitely go check them out. The Pad Thai had a lot of "liquid" to it which seemed weird but it still tasted like pad Thai. The liquid consistency threw my taste off a little bit, but I still finished it. This is a great restaurant in a strip mall across the street from Arigato. Great food. Excellent service, reasonable prices and a lot of options on their menu. I had the Bangkok Beef. It's stir fried beef served with fresh ginger and broccoli. The combination of the ginger with the beef is outstanding. The broccoli was cooked, but crisp. Excellent dish. My wife likes chicken and discussed her choices with our server. The server was knowledgeable and friendly. My wife loved her chicken. I wanted the fried bananas and ice cream for dessert , but they didn't have the fried bananas. I settled for the sweet black rice with ice cream. It was good. Whenever you enter, you can seat yourself where you please and a staff member will bring you a menu/take your order. This is a smaller establishment, so be mindful that conversations can be easily overheard. The staff is super sweet and attentive. I am writing this as I sit here in Bangkok Cafe eating my lunch. The lunch menu has variety and pricing is great for the amount/quality of food you get. I ordered the lunch portion of chicken Pad Kee Mau (Drunken Noodles) with extra veggies, the flavor or which is spot on, though the dish has more sauce than I'm used to. Not a bad thing, I have come to find that this aspect varies depending on restaurant and what region of Thailand the cooks/owners are from. The veggies were plentiful, crisp, and fresh... The noodles were scrumptious! Most importantly, the chicken was of great quality and very tender. One thing to note is that their Medium spicy is American hot, so be careful when ordering! Not to mention the owners/staff were extremely friendly and gave great service! This is a small restaurant open to 18 dine in customers at time during COVID. Ordered me some take out for dinner. I got the Som Tom Appetizer (green papaya and shredded carrot, served with peanut sauce on the side). It looked a little different than what I am used to as it had these big pieces of lettuce on top of the shredded stuff below. I like this appetizer as it is not only healthy, but also has a nice fresh and tangy flavor. The peanuts add a nice texture. I would say this Som Tom was pretty average as far as taste. For my entrée I got the Kee Meo Goong-Gai (wide rice noodles stir fried with shrimp, chicken, red and green bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, and bail in spicy basil sauce). I was happily surprised when I opened the container as it was filled to the rim. I absolutely got multiple meals out of this as it was such a huge portion. Kee Meo is one of my go-to Thai dishes and I liked that theirs included shrimp and chicken. The noodles were cooked properly and not all stuck together, which happens sometimes in this dish. Meat and vegetables were tasty and nicely distributed as far as quantity compared to the noodles. My husband got the Masaman Curry with chicken (cooked in masaman curry with potatoes, onions, and peanuts). This is his favorite Thai dish and pretty much orders it exclusively if its available. He felt there was slightly sweet, but pretty good overall. read more

I've been here several times and have tried multiple dishes. The staff is always very friendly and service is quick. The inside is small, so with current safety measures only 2-3 tables can be sat at the same time. It's decent, but it's not great. No matter what I have tried, I've never been overly impressed. In fact, I would never choose to go there myself. But I have a friend who likes it and there aren't a lot of options in that area. I wish I could talk about all the dishes I've had, except that none of them were even memorable. One had chicken and vegetables in a light brown sauce. The sauce was very watery and the entire dish lacked flavor. This past time there was so much cabbage in my dish, I couldn't even eat half of it. And it wasn't worth taking home either. It's not that the food tastes terrible. It's just extremely underwhelming compared to other Thai places I've gone to. It's "meh." read more

A coworker has been encouraging me to go to Bangkok Cafe for some time now. Close by and looking for some noodles and vegetables we stopped by on Saturday. Clean and quaint we ordered two orders of crispy spring rolls the spicy chicken noodle special and pork drunken noodles. The crispy spring rolls were tiny and left a lot to be desired but both noodle dishes were good. The veggies were fresh and had a little crunch to them and the spicy level was medium as requested. The absolute best "hole in the wall" Thai restaurant I've found in years! Rivals Bangkok! The Tom Ka Gai was likely the best I've ever tasted even in high-end restaurants charging 4x as much! The coconut milk broth was smooth with an even balance of spices. Absolutely fabulous! Call me crazy but I Judge every Thai restaurant by their Pad Thai. If they can do that everything else seems to follow. There's was good. They used a surprisingly thin rice noodle, not sticky and very flavorful. I've been on a "Thai High" since coming back from a recent vacation. This was my first time getting Thai here in Greensboro. I heard about this place from someone, and decided to give it a try. The food prepared very quickly. I went with the beef pad Thai. It was delicious! For the price I paid for it, the portion size was very good. You get a lot of food. There was a good amount of beef in this dish, which was awesome. Staff was really nice. Keep in mind, if your wanting to dine in, this place is very small.
