Excellent food and service!! We literally happened upon this restaurant while In town for GHOE. Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. She answers questions we didn't even ask just based on things we said while perusing the menu. We started with papaya salad, chicken satay, and Tom Kha. The papaya was light and refreshing. The satay had good flavor. The Tom Kha gave the warmth I needed. For my meal, we had the basil fried rice with chicken, sweet and sour with chicken, and the Pad Kee Wan with chicken. All of it was delicious. They have a gluten free soy sauce to use if requested. They offer wine and beer also. They have booths, tables and bar seating. They even have a stage for karaoke. We will definitely visit Thai Chiang Mai the next time we're in town!!

Best Thai basil chicken in town (get the minced)! As usual, it was busy on a weekday, fast and friendly service. The owner and staff are so nice and accommodating. They always come around and ask how everything is. Love the authentic decor inside!

This place never disappoints. There are a total of 5 Thai restaurants in this hwy 68 vicinity and this one is probably first or second on the list because of flavor and price. I love that they have the spice rack which some do not. Also when you order they ask if you want the lunch or dinner portion which is good because you may be dinner portion hungry at lunch time. The lunch size is always fine for me because they do not skimp. Some places have morphed their pad Thai sauce to a "ketchup" like taste but not this location. I will soon find another reason to visit this one as if I need an excuse to have Thai anytime! Plus they have a reward system and those who know, know that I love a discount.

I love this place! I got a Togo order today, Pad Thai Chicken and Ground Chicken Basil thai hot with an order of their spring rolls!! This is my 2nd visit and it was phenomenal . I've not been let down yet!!

Restaurant time and date, items ordered.

Food was great. Atmosphere was good. Service was poor. One server working the entire dining room maybe 10 tables occupied while three employees worked the kitchen. Everyone just waited a long time for greetings, beverages and to pay their bill. Thursday night and not the busiest restaurant around so this could be why.

I absolutely love this place! The owner, and everyone are amazing. The food is always made fresh. It's delicious!! Inside is decorated nicely, the entrance is lovely with all of the plants!! I'm told karaoke night is a blast. This is a regular takeout for lunch stop! Sometimes every week for our office. The lunch specials are large portions for the cost. Thai noodle soup is awesome!!

**This was a Pleasant Surprise. ** We pulled over to look for a place to eat and I looked up to see... Thai Chiang Mai. It is hidden off the road. Didn't even know it existed. NOW we KNOW. The decor is unique to their traditions which is wonderful to view. Surprised the music playing over head is soft jazz. Very nice just unexpected. They have a karaoke machine which could be fun, depending on who is entertaining. When you are seated they bring you a fried veggie roll with a unique watery consistency liquid for dipping. Looks like small strings of carrots in the sauce. Very good flavor. Our meal was simple and flavorful. We both order vegetables with beef The rice was very tender and moist. The brown sauce was light and brothy. They make each meal when ordered which is a PLUS +. There is a wonderful bar with many options of wines and beers from other countries. Watching the meals go by for other diners I was making my list of things to get next time. The pictures were a bit dated so I jumped up and had some fun. The restaurant is clean, open and welcoming. Looks like they have a full garden outside during the summer. Love that they grow many of the herbs & veggies they put in their meals. There are man man many plants all around inside, which I love. Gave to place a fresh air feel. If you haven't been or heard of this place... plan to dine here (or take out) you won't be disappointed. Really happy we stumbled here tonight! PS. Many of the pics are old. So come and update their look with current photos.

While I would have been satisfied if it merely fulfilled a craving, Thai Square more than exceeded expectations. From an aesthetic standpoint, this is one of the nicer Thai restaurants in the area. It's bright and clean with a wall full of ornamental plates. Though it was busy at the time of my lunchtime visit, it seemed well-run. Staff were polite and attentive, and the kitchen had no trouble keeping up with demand. The som tam with shrimp was among the best versions of this dish that I've had. From the attractive plating to the freshness to the flavors (good amount of lime, not too heavy on the fish sauce), it was satisfying across the board. It wasn't at all spicy, which would ordinarily be a red flag (white people Thai food, five-yard penalty), but in fairness, it wasn't requested as such. Provided that Thai Square can bring the heat if you ask for it, the execution here is top-notch. I don't know if the rest of Thai Square's menu compares favorably to the dish that I had, but I hope to eventually find out. For Thai fans in Greensboro, this place is definitely worth a visit.

I would not choose this appetizer again. It just did not taste good. No seasoning. It did not taste fresh. Service was okay. Nothing special. We were there during the lunch rush so we saw our server as they rushed from one table to the next. Not a lot of time to make you feel welcomed from the moment we came in to leaving. I was visiting my niece in Greensboro so I would probably try another Thai restaurant before I circled back around to this one.

But it is the dish shown on the menu as Kao Poon that was the Laotian dish that first got my attention. This dish has several names, including Lao Laska, which is the name I used to order it the first time, at a Chapel Hill restaurant called Merilon, sadly no more! There are different version, of course, since this spicy noodle dish is served not only in Laos, but also in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia, and The USA. It is served at 18 Malaysia in Winston, where it is shown on the menu as Malaysia Curry Noodle Soup, and I have eaten this dish at this restaurant quite a few times. The dish as served at So-Sapp is a very nice version, though I prefer the one at 18 Malaysia because of the very flavorful broth, and that you have a number of protein choices, while at So-Sapp it is limited to chicken. The other items I've had here have been good, especially the sausage, the pork skewers, and the Jeow Bong. The papaya salad was just ok.

I liked the ambience of the restaurant and our server was pleasant. The orange dragon roll with mango was sublime and I will definitely return just for that. On the downside, I found the other things I ordered somewhat inedible. The edamame wasn't steamed enough so it was incredibly difficult to pop them out of their pods to eat. I got tired of trying. My friend ordered the vegetable tempura app and she offered me a sweet potato since that is my favorite. It hadn't cooked all the way through in the center so again difficult to eat. The other roll I ordered had eel in it. Now I have eaten quite a lot eel before but I never had tasted eel so chewy. The mouth feel was so gross that I ended up spitting it out. I think this place has a lot of good qualities so I am willing to give them another shot but I would like to remind their chefs to slow down to ensure that the food is cooked more properly so it would be more enjoyable to its patrons.

I simply got bao buns -- seemed appropriate, plus what is better than a good pork bao bun? And these were excellent. Some of the best in-a-restaurant pork bao buns I've encountered. Interior seating and atmosphere is somewhat less than bare bones -- a few communal tables, and a few little metal high tops; it fits the small bao shop aesthetic, though it's always a little dispiriting to sit at a table that's still dirty from multiple previous meals. But, the bao buns were great -- very flavorful char siu style pork, and a very evenly distributed amount of little extras to keep the pork company. And the buns themselves were perfect.

Takeout seems very common here as well. 2 additional tables outside if the weather is nice. Went with a pork banh mi sandwich and fresh shrimp rolls. Everything was made to order and came out quickly. Rolls were huge! Fresh and tasty all around. Pork was tender and full of flavor, bread itself was also super fresh with a great crunch. The food alone is 5 stars, but the prices would raise the bar to 5+ stars if possible. The value you get for what you pay is amazing. Almost everything on the extensive menu is $11 or less, and many in the range of $6-$7 including my sandwich and spring rolls. When you're paying $15-$20 at many other places for the same thing, you can see the value here. Compare this to the rising costs in the fast food industry for significantly less quality food, and you can consider this a steal. Great spot for a quick lunch, takeout, or dinner with a few friends and family at a place that doesn't break the bank.
