I've been coming here for 2 years since I moved to this area. The food is delicious, fresh and very tasty. The owners run the place (cook and serve), are very sweet, strike up a conversation to learn about Thailand. So it's original food for sure! Okay, we found this place while we were on our way to find some ramen lol. Been there for years and we never noticed it until today. Off the bat it's a quaint little spot, nothing fancy about it, the cute couple are the owners and they were so welcoming when we came in. Support local! We went in because they have plywood covering a huge window. It doesn't look recent though because they've stored stuff in that area Staff was friendly and decor was great. Outdoor like so you had this strange indoor outdoor feeling going on. I've seen many paintings of the (last) king but never a full bust before. The miniature food carts in glass cases are adorable and detailed. Menu was outdated, the online one seems more accurate. Food was good if a bit sweet, which made it very nostalgic of south bay Thai food from a couple decades ago. Combos are nice to try a few things. The red curry was spicy (like not for farang spicy) which was great, they did not ask about heat level. Pad see ew was good with very light wok flavor. Mango sticky rice was pleasant. 1. It was THE WORST PAD THAI I ever had!!! 2. There was a sneaky extra charges!!!! I should have walked out when I felt the atmosphere was so empty and negative when I walked into the restaurant..... nobody was there besides the owner was sitting at the table being on the phone. I ordered a chicken pad thai to go anyway against my feelings and asked the owner if I can have a little extra bean sprouts. He said ok. I paid, sat down and waited. I was checking out the menu and realized that he charged me extra $1 for just a little bit of bean sprouts!!! He should have told me or asked me if that would be ok with me!!! If he would charge me for just a little extra bean sprouts, I would say no!!! All I would ask from the owner is being just honest about the price or a reminder!!! I asked the owner if he charged me $1 for extra bean sprouts and he said yes when he brought out my Pad Thai. So I told him he should have told me otherwise I would say no. HE DIDN'T say ANYTHING!!! And when I opened the container, I was mad and so disappointed how little the bean sprouts he added for extra $1!!! The Pad Thai was so flat and plain. The noodle was too soft and soggy. The flavor was just sour. No peanuts either!!!! I would rather be a repeat customer at other Thai restaurants who would not charge any extra just for some extra bean sprouts!!! This is a cute mom and pop place. They have great lunch specials (11-3). Salad (or soup), fried wonton with a tasty sweet and sour sauce (the balance is great), and an entree + rice. Today, I had Red Curry with chicken. It was spicy and yummy. There was a good amount of chicken, bamboo shoots, and peas. Service is always friendly and prompt. The non lunch menu is reasonably priced. We've been there for dinner a few times too. I've had Pad Kee Mao and Massamun Curry before. Always tasty. The decor is simple but cute. We came by on a slow night and were the only ones dining-in. I enjoyed the chicken pad thai and crispy egg rolls, but generally find Three Spice Thai over on Western appealing too, albeit more expensive. Having said that, the service at Bangkok Sapphires was excellent, and I felt it was wonderfully authentic for the chef to bring the food she made out to us herself. I could tell they put love and care into their food, which makes me want to come back again to try some of their other menu items. They take credit cards and have free parking in the attached outdoor lot. The restaurant was exceptionally clean, which was reassuring considering other places seem to have let things get a bit lax even with the pandemic going on. Torrance Food Crawl #256 Bangkok Sapphires is located in a small corner strip mall across the street from Alondra Park. They seem to do a fair amount of take out and delivery business but they also have about a dozen tables inside for sit down meals. On Friday afternoon business seemed light and service was very friendly and prompt. I started with Thai Sticks. These were identified as a 'House Special' and came with three pieces. Skewered on each stick was a shrimp around which a chicken and pork mix was wrapped, covered with mild spices, and deep fried. The chicken and pork were the most substantial and strongest tasting element. The shrimp was average. The dipping sauce helped by adding some moistness to the partially dry meats and also added a nice sweet taste. My entree was the Squid with Chili Basil. The squid was scored with swirling cuts around it leaving large round tubes with a decorative pattern. The squid was fairly fresh, with only the slightest presence of a gummy resistance. The spicy sauce was labeled as 'hot' on the menu but wasn't very hot to my tongue. It had a nice sharp chili flavor, nicely completing my appetizer which had a sweet taste. There were some onions, basil leaves, and carrots along with the squid but they were minor elements of the dish. The white rice on the side was hot and only mildly starchy. The level of cleanliness here could be improved. From my table I could see the 'A' grade they got from the county health department, however, my table was sticky to the touch and both glasses were covered with water spots and one still had lipstick from a previous user. Despite some minor cleanliness issues the food here seems authentic and generally good. read more

I've Been a regular here since I was younger, and ever since nothing as changed, well the interior has been revamped and it looks great, but the delicious flavor is still on point! Yummy Thai food that delivers, how can you beat that?? My GO TO picks here include the pad se yew, drunken noodles, pad Thai, Thai sticks, beef panang, and curry. All so yummy! I have never been disappointed with anything that I've ordered here, and when they deliver the food its still nice and hot, ready to be devoured! I had not eaten here for many years and found the restaurant has been downsized. The food is pretty good and the portions are just normal size, but I found it to be enough. It does take the cook a little longer than normal to prepare the food, but all of the food is fresh and tasty so it was worth it. I had the chicken pricking which was good and I got the luncheon special which included wonton soup. Service was good and the prices were standard for Thai food in the area. Have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. Extensive Thai menu with all the traditional dishes, plus salads, soups and appetizers. Portion sizes are good. Vegetables are fresh and the food is always hot. The lunch specials are a great value. It's kind of a little hole in the wall, but quaint, and the service is always really good. As soon as your glass is empty, they come to refill it. Also offers take-out and delivery. My faves are the wonton soup and Pad See Ew. read more

Yet I did check Yelp first before dining at this restaurant and I was very impressed with the reviews. Overall, I loved most of the food I ordered, they give you a lot of great food for the money! I had the #4 Egg Rolls, and they were some of the best egg rolls I have ever had! I had the #23 Tom Kah Kai (Hot & Sour Chicken Coconut Soup), but I did not really care too much for their Tom Kah Kai soup, it was rather bland and had too much lemon or lime juice that overpowered the soup. I ordered the House Special (H1), which was a combination of Thai B.B.Q. Chicken, Chicken Satay, and Chicken Fried Rice, which was DELICIOUS! Based on the portions of food that I got, it is easily enough to feed 2 people, yet again, you get a lot of great food for your money! Best of all, the service was very friendly and fast. I usually dont post photos on yelp but I found 4 dead flies in my food and they charged me FULL price for my meal! So at the top of my rice I found a dead fly with wings. My son found a similar bug in HIS rice that he took to the waitress which said it was just part of the rice and dusted it off. I said no. Mine has wings!! Then we started collecting them. This place is great. The food is warm in their takeout containers weather they deliver or you order there and take home. Our favorite dishes are Jelly Noodle Salad, Pad Thai Noodles, Koi See Mee, fried tofu(oh so good) with or w/o sauce, any of the seafood dishes(my favorite dish is Garlic Squid) actually all the dishes are made to order, not sitting in a pan waiting to be cooked, I have no complaints! It only saddens me that because of covid , we can't eat in. The owner and staff always wear their masks and clean in between clients. Even pens have a clean and dirty containers. I have been passing the little plaza this restaurant is in for five years or so (when I used to live in the area), and I only started going there probably my last couple of years there. I agree that the restaurant's appearance seems a little un-kept (or needs an upgrade from the 1990's set-up), but I do like the food there. My favorite dish is the garlic squid. I've also tried the chicken pad thai and liked that. The people working there have always been nice and thankful. All in all, I support the mom & pop business and this is probably in my top five Thai restaurants in the South Bay. Not sure if they still have the same "coupons" but you can always get free iced tea with a purchase of $___ or more. I suggest getting no ice! read more
