    Thai tea

Was a happy mistake that put us here and we very much enjoyed lunch because of it. We like them. Everyone was friendly and nice. High marks for hospitality. Curry puffs and crab rangoons were interesting enough. Puffs came with a biteful of cucumber salad. Chicken massaman with a spring roll and bowl of broth was nice. Thai hot wasn't especially kill me now hot. Thank Gods. Rare is the day Thai places bring out the condiments anymore unless you ask for them and here was no different. Overall, was a nice lunch.

    Massaman Curry and Crispy Eggplant
    Erin L.

Such a wonderfully unexpected surprise. We ordered the Massaman curry with tofu and crispy eggplant, both with a rich, peanut-based sauce--and honestly, they were two of the best Thai dishes I've had in Gainesville. The crispy tofu came with a fresh salad, and I tried both the ginger dressing and the peanut dressing--couldn't go wrong with either. The Massaman curry was deeply flavorful and comforting, and it came with a clear soup and a spring roll, which was a really nice touch. We ordered dinner portions, which were generous and satisfying, but their lunch specials are super affordable too. Service was pleasant, the food came out fast, and everything tasted fresh. I don't leave reviews often, but my taste buds and tummy were very happy. Highly recommend.

The pad thai here had a really good flavor and the perfect amount of sauce. The service was very quick and the ambiance was pretty nice. My friend and I split the thai donuts for dessert, and they were tasty but nothing too special. Overall a pretty good thai place but not my favorite in the area.

Nice clean, modern feel. This was recommended by a guy at Karma Cream (excellent place), so we wanted to grab a small bite. Great Thai Coffee! We shared the Panang curry with tofu. The flavor is nice, but a little disappointed with the few veggies. There is a lot of tofu, which is nice and it is a lunch portion, but it is mostly tofu and zucchini slices. The staff understands gluten free and vegan, so we appreciate that. Maybe we need to try them for dinner, but to us, it seems to be a little pricey. Maybe that's the cost of eating out these days... The food was tasty, service fast and friendly, so a solid 4 stars is where I would place them.

Bangkok Square is our family favorite. I've been coming here for years. About time I write them up! Best Thai food in Gainesville. Their pad Thai is my go-to. Their crispy duck is a great portion and flavorful. My husband tried the Kua Gling for lunch today and it was super spicy and delicious. The service is always friendly. Definitely check them out.

Tofu Pad Broccoli served with 2 veggie egg rolls because my friend is a vegetarian

My friend's father came into town to take us out for lunch and a movie. We arrived about 11:20 am which was the perfect time on a Tuesday afternoon as we beat the lunch crowd. I haven't been here in years but it was better than I had remembered. I got the vegetable pad kee mao aka drunken noodles. I'm not a vegetarian but I wanted something I could share with my friend. It was so good I ate it all. It was my favorite pad kee mao because of the noodles. They were thick and wide and kinda al dente. The sauce was good, too but it was a little salty. I will be back to try variations of this noodle. My friend's father ate all his shrimp pad thai and didn't complain except to say it wasn't spicy. I think Asian servers are scared when Caucasian Americans ask for spicy. I asked him if he wanted me to request spicy sauce on the side. But he declined. We actually did request that earlier but they forgot. By the appearance of it, I thought it looked a little dry and I noticed there wasn't any lime. I also don't like how thin the pad thai noodles looked. My friends ordered the tofu pad broccoli. The server didn't really explain the name of the dish well. It looked okay. He ate half and packed the rest to go. The lunch portion, options and presentation were nice. The restaurant was clean and charming. The server was knowledgeable and friendly. However, it took awhile to get seated. In fact, a Thai customer who was dining in, got up and had to notify the staff in the kitchen that there were 2 parties of 3/4 people waiting to be seated. We were in and out in an hour. We caught the 12:20 pm showing of The Fall Guy at celebration pointe. That was a great movie! Highly recommend.

Decided to check this place out for weekend dinner. It was not overly crowded and we were seated immediately. We got chicken satay for appetizer which was okay, 3/5. salad that came with "two friends panang curry" that we ordered was good. Both curry and Pad see ew were flavorful and were cooked well- little on the saltier side to my taste. Overall, we had good experience and will come back when we crave Thai food!

This place had really good food. My parents have been going for a decade. They are in a little strip mall on the edge of town. Their menu is extensive. Their staff friendly, but not great at English. Ambiance is kinda scuzzy, with Gainesville's typical non-student crowd of old, wealthy, and educated sitting in store, while students coming in for take out. Parking availability fair.

Wow, to start off, the experience and food here is a solid 5-stars! The interior is a great first impression, and the staff is super friendly and welcoming! Bangkok Square is my to-go place for Thai food. I usually get the Beef Pad See Ew, and it has been delicious every time! The food is hot and flavorful, and always made to perfection. The presentation is also gorgeous. I love the Sticky Rice here as well, very delicious! Overall, I would definitely recommend stopping here for a yummy bite to eat if you're in Gainesville! It's delicious and a great experience!

    Basil fried rice

One of the best Thai places in town. The restaurant is really nice inside and the service is good. The food tastes really good my only complaint is the portion size could be a bit bigger I could have ate more. I ordered the basil fried rice and I enjoyed it a lot. The restaurant is pretty small and quiet inside, but it is decorative and well-kept. Our servers were attentive and the food came out fairly quickly.

My order was easier - Chirashi Dinner and iced green tea. Our friends ordered a bento box and pork steamed buns. The restrooms were clean and stocked; happy about that. Arriving an hour before closing time, I was pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome and seamless seating despite the quiet atmosphere. The staff made me feel like a valued guest regardless of the hour. I was seated inside, though there is an outdoor patio. However, with the lack of customers and the late hour, it felt better to sit inside this time around. The decor is pretty typical for a Thai restaurant... lots of reds and gold and the ever present dragons. The standout of the evening was undoubtedly the Tom Yum soup. It was bold, aromatic, and perfectly balanced. It alone is worth a return visit. The summer roll was decent but fell a little short of its potential. The shrimp felt sparse, and an overly generous hand with the cucumber threw off the harmony of flavors I was hoping for. My green curry hit all the right flavor notes, but the portion felt slightly unbalanced. A bit more curry to accompany the rice would have made it a truly satisfying main. Minor criticisms aside, Bangkok Square delivers a genuinely enjoyable Thai dining experience. The highs are high enough that I'll certainly be back.

The noodles and veggies had great texture, and the sauce had a nice slightly sweet flavor though I think it could've used just a touch more salt or chili oil to balance it out. Slightly oily overall, but not enough to be a dealbreaker. I swapped the soup for double egg rolls and was glad I did since they were super crispy and satisfying. Service was fast even though it was fairly busy for lunch, and the pricing for the lunch special was great. I'd definitely come back for another lunch here!

The line wasn't too long inside, so we decided we would try it. They were swamped and very busy still, but the staff was doing their best to accommodate everyone. We waited in a short line for maybe 15min before reaching the hostesses table. We were lucky to get seats at the sushi bar! The interior is very nice and has a nice vibe. This place is really great for nice dinners, nights out, or a good dinner. Service was definitely off that night. Our water specifically seemed to forget about the group of us since we were seated at the sushi bar. It took her 15 to get us waters and our other drinks didn't even come out until after we got out food (a considerable time later). Like I said it was busy, the sushi bar was swamped with orders, but they were working diligently to keep up with the influx of orders. Most of us ordered sushi, so we ended up waiting a considerable amount of time for our meals. My one friend ordered an entree from the kitchen and it came out within 10 minutes of her ordering it. Our sushi was served about 20-30 minutes after her dish. This is frustrating and slightly awkward as my friend felt bad eating while the rest of us didn't have any food yet. Again, this is no fault to the sushi chefs. They were working extremely hard to produce quality sushi for all the guests. My problem came with our server, Emma. She didn't check in on us at all, didn't even serve our dishes to us, and like I said, forgot to get us drinks, etc. While this was frustrating, I do not think this is a reflection of the restaurant overall. It appeared the other serves were fine keeping up with their tables. For the food, we started with the crab rangoons and steamed pork potstickers. These came out within 10 minutes of ordering and were great starters! They each included 6 pieces per order. The crab rangoons were stuffed with ample amounts of cream cheese and crab meat. They were perfectly crispy and I thought these were some of the better Rangoons I've had. The potstickers hit the spot, but weren't anything too special, pretty standard. For my sushi, I ordered the Golden Apple Roll (per our servers recommendation) and a daily special roll called the bonzai Roll. The golden apple roll included spicy crunchy salmon, Fuji apples, mango, and mango sauce. This was decent and something different but not my favorite. 5)3 flavors were super unique but there wasn't a sweetness at all oddly like I was expecting. Instead it had a distinct tart flavor to it. Different, but not my vibe. Now the bonzai roll was a hit! This roll included tuna, salmon, kani, and avocado inside, topped with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and mayo, then flamed & torched, and finished with eel sauce, caviar, and scallions. There was certainly a lot going on in this one, but I could really taste all the different elements. The fish was extremely fresh and just divine. I also tried some of my friend's sashimi and was blown away with the quality of the fish--just amazing. Overall, we all loved the food here and would 100% return. The quality is quite good and the fish is melt in your mouth. You can tell they take a lot of pride in their sushi and it is evident in the taste and presentation alone. Now the service was certainly more desirable. I understand it was a very busy night, but our server just appeared to forget about us. Very disappointing as it slightly spoiled our experience and was not a good first impression. Again, we all agreed that we thought it wasn't a fair assessment of the restaurants service overall. I'm hoping next time the service is better and our server can do a better job serving us and checking in on us. I'm also surprised that she never offered to compensate anything in our bill, like our drinks that took 30+ minutes to come out and were served well after we had received our food. But it's not the end of the world. I would still recommend coming here, I actually think their sushi is better than Dragon Flys, better priced, and dare I say higher quality!

Oh my god, I took a single bite and didn't speak to my friend for 15 minutes as I continued munching it down. It was amazing.
